You can mod games with Denuvo, but it's usually a bigger pain in the ass than it needs to be. Instead of just swapping/adding files and fixing directories to use those files, you have to disguise the mod well enough to fool Denuvo into thinking you're running the game unedited. Games like Mania and Forces are probably easier to mod due to how simple the mods are (sprite swaps, accessory changes, etc.) so it's easier to get past file integrity checks.

You can certainly put a lot of unnecessary steps into the process of modding a game. Refusing to release your tools (4A Games get a special mention for this - Metro 2033 had its SDK built into its game engine, and 4A deliberately ripped it out from the public release of the game). Refusing to release documentation. Refusing to release visual-audio asset sources, script sources and/or code sources. Encrypting game data files. Adding Denuvo. It's shown time and time again that by putting enough obstacles like these in the way - enough challenges that need to be surpassed before you can start approaching the challenge of actually adding on to a game - you can cripple people's motivation to ever try to make their own contributions to your game, to the point where the most you'll ever see for it are Cheat Engine hexes and memory-injection post-processing shaders and texture replacements.
On the other hand, there's a lot you can do to take out unnecessary steps from the modding process - making sure that your game is structured as modularly as it can be; adding proper plugin handling; adapting your tools for the variety of different workflows that different users will have in mind for them; creating documentation and tutorials for your asset/script/code sources beyond what you'd expect to use getting studio employees up to speed. I thought SE had made a big fuss about doing that sort of stuff for the game, but fug.

The basic Batman gameplay is easy for retards to understand, but the game actually rewards you for not being one. If you mash punch you only get +1 to your combo and if you mash counter you'll lose it. but if you time punches deliberately you'll get +2 to your combos and they deal more damage, getting a high combo faster give you access to special moves faster, and you'll basically beat a fight 5 times faster then a retard who doesn't know how to play.
It's all still easy but there is enough variety that it's stays entertaining, it's more about not fucking up your combo, then it is about actually losing.

If the combat actually was like Kingdom Hearts 2 instead of just looking like it is, I would be far more interested

It's a pity you can abuse beatdown to rack up obscene combos though. Just stun them with your cape and proceed to initiate a beatdown, then trigger the mass stun move with the bats, proceed to the next guy and beatdown him too, rinse and repeat.

Naturally, this doesn't work with all fights, but common thugs are easy enough once you have smashed apart all their weapons.

It had potential, the open world is actually well designed and fun to explore. The side quests are interesting enough. The main story is also not really half bad if you get into the expanded universe. However, the combat is so simple & bland that it is self-defeating and make the game impossible to recommend. Would have been a great game if the combat wasn't absolute shit.
