idk about SV but in EV you can cut recovery by jump cancelling the move then cancelling the pre jump frames into guarding. So you can parry or instant block incoming attacks rather than feel like you just have to take the hit.

There's already a lot of cowtits though. If there's one thing Senran is lacking, it's balance.

Only played EV but it's serviceable. The games were obviously made with portable in mind, most missions are done in 5-10m tops in very little stages and the gameplay is very simple. Then again, after you play Sengoku Basara, everything in the genre will pale in comparison; I wish the game would adopt that formula of having a basic string and a set of specials instead of the Musou dial-a-combo system.
I hope 7EVEN revamps the whole thing.

If you have a 3DS, play Burst and Deep Crimson before you touch anything else in the series. If you don't, pirate Shinovi Versus, it has a better story and characters than EV.

Estival Versus does have a shitty story, and if you don't already know the characters some of them will come off as obnoxious (Miyabi's part in the main story will be awful if you don't already know her from SV, for instance)

How long or the matches? Got Shinovi Versus, but the matches were so short felt like I spent more time looking at score screens than playing the game. That's likely great for a jap stuck on a train, but not for playing at home.

I was expecting the licensed DLC to be on the side, not nearly every goddamned little thing.

If you absolutely have to put DLC for this shit, if someone has a gun to your head to put some form of DLC out there, you only do the characters. All the other item packs and shit should constitute as free updates to the game, and the card packs should be bundled with the characters.

I would say pirate it. I enjoyed it myself when I played the JP version but I also don't think it's worth it full price. Maybe for 20-30 dollars. Online will most likely be dead in a few weeks and it was mostly made with a good amount of offline content to keep you busy.

Also, the M&KB controls are complete shit. The defaults remind me of getting an FPS back pre-2000 and you have to crank the sensitivity up to max just to make aiming slow.

The game is designed around the idea that you have auto aim in most scenarios so they would need to rework the mechanics for KB&M. I wouldn't expect a company like Marvelous or Xseed to do that.

They have a lot of flaws but I overlooked most of them because I was having too much fun with the characters, was my first time doing anything involving such a heavy focus on cute anime grills and I did not regret it one bit except maybe the sheer amount of hours after a certain point but I'm still happy with it
Try Re;Birth 1, you'll likely know whether or not you'll like it after that game.

Even then you can't really get into multiplayer because the game isn't balanced around a default or LV1 anything. So you can be LV3 and go against a LV9 character with max level equipment who can kill you before you even realize they're looking at you. They should have made it so everyone and everything they have is boosted to max level for multiplayer. That way everyone can immediately get into it while being on the same playing field.

In case anyone else is having trouble with spinning cameras when using a controller, I got mine to stop by just disabling mouse camera in the settings.

Steam big picture already has full support for DS4. Just enable it in settings and you can customise it pretty wildly
