I think the bigger issue is that Nintendo are hypocrites, they abuse the legal system to kill competition products and games based on theirs, but they're the first ones to rip off other company's games and file patents that they have no business filing.

The sanity system for Eternal Darkness, for example. Silicon Knights was working ED before Nintendo got involved, and as soon as Nintendo agreed to publish their game they filed a patent for the sanity system of the game, preventing the game from being multiplatform. There's an ED sequel in the works, but they want NOTHING to do with Nintendo because they don't want to get fucked over again.

Nintendo loves the reputations that they invented the cross d-pad, but that was another company who did. They love the reputation that they saved the video games industry, but Sega put out their own console around the same time.

I love Bayonetta but I doubt it would reach that number even during the whole switch lifetime, it‘s simply not a systemseller.
Though I will say retailers in my country are completely sold out on the standard edition.

My main gripes with the Switch version is, that it only has the absolute bare minimum of enhanced performance: slightly better framerate (still not stable) and faster loading times. No higher resolution, or major graphical improvments.
It‘s one of the laziest ports I‘ve seen lately.
Especially dissapointing seeing how Bayo1 was polished for the WiiU release and even added bonus content.

Let's be honest here. compared to Sony and Microsoft, Nintendo is decent. Additionally they're the only ones making portable gaming consoles AND they still make good games like Xenoblade 2 and Odyssey. Look at what Sony is doing right now with God of War and ask yourself "is this what a game should be?".

It comes "free" in order to help Bayo 2 profit. Both games need to be played for Bayo 2's story to make sense whatsoever. Bayo 1 sold over a million by 2010 which is good considering that platinum is AA in terms of budget and develops for far cheaper than western devs. My guess as to why Sega didn't want a sequel is because it probably sold below expectations when factoring in marketing, As I recall it they ran huge marketing campaigns including subway murals with peel off stickers/flyers that would expose Bayonnetta when taken off. You'll notice that Marketing for Bayo 2 was significantly more restrained.

Even if it did profit despite those costs marketing one game incurs an opportunity cost since people's attention spans are limited. If they can pump marketing into a product that would yield more returns they would do so. Add to the fact that sequels tend to do worst.

Then, Nintendo looks at this thrice unprofitable series, and, not only decides to fund another port of the first two games to the Switch and sell them as a bundle, but to fund a second sequel to this unprofitable series. That's what you're asking. Do you understand just how stupid that would be?

The game by itself doesn't have to be profitable if it can bootstrap some Switch sales. This is the same strategy Sony used with the PS3 to help save their console. Unlike the PS3 the switch itself is much cheaper to produce and is probably returning a profit per unit sold.

I've never gotten gud at any CUHRAYZEE game. I get the basics and already know how to dodge offset but I just can't get a hang of the more complex systems. Some Alfheim's are so tough. How do you beat the ones with limited Kicks and punches? Bayo 2 is much more casual. and I actually enjoy it more because I still can't git really genuinely gud at bayo 1.

The limited kicks and punches one you need to do two things, hold the button down as long as possible so you're shooting them and get the most damage, and only do the shortest wicked weaves so you get more damage out of fewer moves.

the Gracious and Glorious are in an area where you can't trigger witch time. The regular Grace and Glory's are not so bad with having a slowdown but without it they are brutal. I'm still shit at dodging their juggle combo. That juggle can take almost half your health bar.

I don't know how gud I would describe myself, but I can tell you how I cheesed my way to 101 Umbran tears of blood. First you need to prep time. Max out your magic and health.
Webm related is the best way of farming for halos, but you need to beat the game in under 3 hours to get the Bracelet of Time, easy to do but you may need to over ride any good level runs you've already done. Then just farm a ton of magic loli pops and use the Kilgore glitch.

After that you'll want to unlock the Eternal Testimony accessories for getting 50 Umbran tears of blood which aren't too hard to get. Once you get that you'll want to use it with Pulley's Butterfly so you can take damage, but it won't count as a hit to your score as long as you have magic, getting a golden moon between levels will mean you'll always have enough magic to use the butterfly, That or you can skip getting Eternal Testimony in favor of Gaze of Despair, to make getting platinum fights easier. I personally found the more aggressive enemies easier to predict.

The cheapest weapons are feet Kilgore if you use the glitch or having Fire Durga on your feet is easily the best damage dealer if you use the PPPKKK combo and hold your kicks, after the first two attacks charged Durga attacks deal way more damage and that combo is a leg sweep that will trip up most enemies including Gracious, Glorious, and Jeanne. but Fire Durga can kill enemies far too fast and you won't get a pure platinum.
The Kilgore glitch is cheap for getting easy Pure Platinum fights but it's not always reliable.

I actually did like 2 better, mostly for the better variety in terms of environments, enemies and especially weapons you can use. I've read complaints about how many of 2's bosses are human-sized humanoids, but I didn't mind that at all since I absolutely hated all of the original's non-humanoid bosses apart from the final boss. Although 2's framerate still dips occasionally, it's still much smoother than the original's, which dips to single digits often enough to put me off of replaying it ever again (at least on the Wii U version, I haven't played the PC port where I imagine this is a non-issue). 2 also has much fewer mandatory QTEs and no instadeath QTEs at all, which I really appreciated. Being able to play as Rosa's also nice since it adds more replayability (which neither game is lacking in).

That said, 2 has quite a few problems that the original didn't have. Certain enemies and bosses read your inputs and dodge your attacks so frequently that it's pretty much impossible to damage them substantially without Witch Time, meaning that you can only play reactively against many of 2's new enemies (whereas in the original you could always choose to play either aggressively or reactively). Infinite Climax isn't anywhere near as interesting as the first game's version since that got rid of Witch Time on top of changing enemy placements and increasing you receive, whereas 2 only does the latter two, probably because the devs realised that it would be impossible to complete without WT. I can also remember two parts (in the first and fourth chapters) in 2 where you have to dodge something at the end of a cutscene but no QTE prompt shows up, which is questionable for reasons I don't think I need to explain. There are one or two walkie talkie bits (i.e. where you're forced to walk slowly and listen to exposition) too which is unfortunate.

As the other user said, though, if you don't like the original then you probably won't like 2 either. Even if you do like the original you might still not like 2.

I also can understand why the hardcore talented fans of the original would dislike how it trivializes some of the mechanics. Having a high skill ceiling is generally a good thing.

From what I read the DEVs actually included features that are aimed at FUTURE upgrades in PC tech that are not fully possible yet as well.

They did the BEST they could on PC then cut it down to put it on consoles. The detail in the DIRT is way better on PC then it is on console.
