I've been making chicken stir fry lately because the VH sauces have been on sale lately.

Vaporeon's great simply because of it's High HP and Special Attack, combined with the fact it takes no prior training for it to keep up with the rest of my team. All you need is Eevee, a water stone, and the Bubblebeam/Water Pulse TM, and you're good to go. If you have the extra money, get some coins and put them towards the Ice Beam TM as well, If you can get it in the game corner, that is. Not sure if it's the case in Gen 1. I know in yellow you can get it from the thirsty girl at the rooftop of the department store.

If you're talking about Articuno, that's a Gen 1 legendary. The next Ice type Legendary after him was Regice, and he was introduced in Gen 3.

I think Ice Beam might be in that cave you find Articuno in in FRLG, but I could be wrong. Still, I've never really used Vaporeon myself. Usually I'll just take the effort to evolve an Eevee into an Espeon, but that's not an option in the Kanto games (even in FRLG post game, as you have to transfer it to Hoenn to evolve because noclocks).

If you mean Suicune, that was water, and it has Aurora Beam (assuming you don't mean that you upgraded it via TM). Most water types are lucky that they can also learn Ice Beam for defensive coverage. A Bolt Beam Starmie is overused for good reason.

On a semi related note, one of my more favorite pokemon from Gen 3 is Altaria. It's a dragon/flying that doesn't take long to level up compared to other dragons, and dragon dance with earthquake demolishes teams in the main game. I just wish dragon moves weren't special based in Gen 3.

Umbreon's a weird one for me. I want to like him, but he feels weird as a defensive Pokemon, and I've never used him once in my Colosseum playthroughs, and I've never used him in Gale of Darkness either.

Leafeon's biggest problem is that it's a grass type whose best stat is attack. It gets leaf blade, but not until level 71.

Ice Beam's a straight upgrade, aside from lower PP as the trade off. Though, Gen I and II didn't exactly have good movepools for a lot of monsters. I still remember some "Professor Retarded Oak Says" tip about running a fire type with 3/4 moves being offensive fire being a good idea.

Yeah, I at least got the Cress and Stahn outfits for Xillia from that LE upgrade, and they were also usable with X2, but I couldn't justify dropping $130 on the X2 CE, even though I wound up liking the game a lot, despite it's quirks.

And actually, I was wrong up there: the ones in the picture were still pay-for DLC. Second pic were the formerly preorder in Japan, now $130 DLC ones. Which is a damn shame because Milla pulls the disco knight look off better than Asbel, who originated it.

Yeah, I thought that was a ridiculous level requirement for it to learn a good physical grass attack after Grovyle got it at 31, I think. I suppose that was the intended trade off though for Eevee's versatility: all the good STAB moves are locked until higher levels and can't be egg moved down. Though, for more common ones like Thunderbolt, Flamethrower, Surf, Psychic, Ice Beam, you can just TM or HM them.

In Colosseum's case, I'd say level 52 would still be around the main game. Your starting pokemon are at level 25-26, and the final boss uses pokemon between levels 55-62. and it gets worse in the post game.

I caught so fucking many shinies in Gen III; eventually I transferred a Shroomish with False Swipe, leveled it to learn Spore, and evolved it in case I came across anymore in the future. Sadly the only use ShinyHuntr got was (another) shiny golbat. Gen IV and V I didn't find much in comparison; mostly just ones from lurking the WTC. Still have all of the ones I've had Gen III-on on my White version, including a sewage green Dragonite I caught as a purple Dratini in the Safari Zone.

Yeah, Colosseum is like Gen I in that endgame is like 60-62. You want a big jump in main game to post game though, original BW eastern Unova became a game of dodging trainers because you're only about 50 right out of main game and they're sporting 65s.

In Gen 1's case, everything has a retarded moveset, so the high levels only exist to intimidate you. I've beaten Gen 1's E4 with pokemon between levels 46-48 before, although that's not really an accomplishment.
