You seem to only be able to damage the enemy you have highlghted because else the moves can not connect.

Archery has always the same trajectory.

It feels like M&B with a few status effects and lesser variety because every weapon feels the same, but sword, axe and club do different kinds of damage.

There's a very detailed armor system, with heavier armors being able to completely shrug off blows and projectiles.

Melee combat has 6 different directiong of attack (overhead, left high, left low, right high, right low and stab). Predicting how the enemy is going to attack you is a big part of the game. There's also a perfect block system where if you time your block well, you'll save a lot of stamina and can make a counterattack than in turn can only be countered by another perfect block. About stamina, it's a big deal and if you just wildly swing your weapon or run about like a retard tryng to kite the enemy, you'll get tired very quickly and subsequently be at a big disadvantage.

Not sure on the combos but sounds good, I was afraid they'd fuck up the combat big time.

Also, Axe to the head and arrow in the face works on more enemies than one might think, except that one fight were they force you to to not use your arsenal and just your shitty sword.

When fighting multiple opponents at once this applies to irl melee fights as well positioning is extremely important so as not get yourself surrounded and attacked from a blind spot. Thus it's often the best option to simply run back and force your opponents to line up for you so you can take them on one at a time and not allow them to use their advantage of numbers.

These penetration shots do not look as if they went very deep into the chainmail. The wearer would not suffer deadly damage and if the arrows were not doused in some poison, shit or rot then the wounded man would probably live on to fight until end of battle and probably after too.

The arrow still penetrated and the fighter would still be hampered by the wound. Bows were never as terribly effective that they are portrayed to be in the movies and were mostly used to harass and annoy the enemy rather than cause heavy casualities. Against a properly equipped knight, bows were pretty much entirely useless as arrows would simply bounce off his armor which in turn led to them becoming obsolete as weapons of war.

Its riddled with cut scene and has annoying and clunky combat. The story is great so far though and you have good freedom of approaching quest. Its buggy. This is literally all you need to know.

They weren't for that, but that's true for any weapon, they do well in some situations but not in others. Huge swords are worse than smaller swords against an unarmored targets and on foot, but try to use that small sword on plate and at most it gets a few laughs, small shields are useless against arrows but they're fast, etc.

Be happy the topic is mostly vidya for once.

Combat is worse than M&B and Chivalry. Don't listen to the fags who say that it'll get better as you level up, it does get a little less clunky but still crappy compared to the better sword combat games.
Prologue is like 4-7 hours long and it's railroaded and boring as fuck. The game does get more decent after the prologue ends and when you're allowed to travel on your own, but still, holy shit. And some quests are buggy when you try to go off rails.
Lockpicking minigame sucked.

I really enjoyed it until I realised the game was as well optimised as skyrim on release so it would stutter at random intervals even on the lowest possible settings. Absolutely disgusting. There seemed to be no rime nor reason for these two seconds of still image either. At least the first run in with the combat system was fun

Would've been great without all the stuttering before and afterwards, so I ended up losing that data because I quit the game and obviously it wouldn't let me save. Anyone else experience the stuttering?

Okay, here's a real balance issue, knockout is fucking overpowered. Its available from the beginning, NPCs don't see it under their own eyes, can kill a target to levelup strength and sword techniques, can complete thieving quests by knocking out targets instead of pickpocketing them, can kill those targets afterwards and game won't even react to it.
Knockout should had been a perk in stealth tree at the very end of it. Instead its a tool to cheese entire game and every quest.

It's a bit hard to actually get angry at that game. You can't even be sad with it.

You have a lot of sections that seem full of action and danger but when you look at it a second time, there's no way you could lose, you never really were in danger and a single button prompt was enough to "save" you. That webm from RLM and the grappling hook comes to mind.
Even the combat seems that it's there for the sake of having combat and shooting otherwise a lot of people wouldn't even try the game if it was just walking around.
The shooting and the weapons still look like token gameplay elements, the fights never put up a decent challenge and they never change much as the game goes. Most other "adventure" games tend to have a progression to the combat with stronger or better weapons and enemies showing up and yet nothing of that happens here.
It's humans, revolvers, shotguns and rifles the whole run.

The success of that game isn't surprising, lots of normalfags do want a cinematic experience that makes them feel like they are the ones doing all that cool shit but with none of the actual chalenge to it, they just want to watch an interactive movie.
And since it never really ever tried to be an actual videogame like The Order tried, mocking or criticizing it doesn't even seem to make sense.

I can see how you might not like it, but most normalfags like it because it let you do setpiece moments that you only see in movies(cargo plane, car chase, etc). The gameplay(at least in the trilogy) is good fun shooting with a bit of climbing, sure it's nothing much, but that doesn't take away it's fun. The story is also pretty well made.

Both those games are WAY different. For example, Uncharted has way more mechanics(even for a standard shooter), isn't short as fuck, and has a good story. The Order is a game where the devs tried to be Uncharted, and took it's cinematic design and overdid it to go with the cinematic trend and failed miserably, and rightly so.

Uncharted is a video game. It might be cinematic by doing more cutscenes than games like Gears, but it's still a video game. The saving system is kind of annoying but you really do play differently when you've got something to lose, and the closest you can get to that in a game is losing progress. A quick save system makes people save before doing all kinds of dumb shit just in case it works, and save scumming every interaction to get the optimal outcome. Playing like that sucks the soul out of the game. That said, there definitely should be an additional option to save and quit anytime, but that save gets deleted when you load it again.

I had that feeling at first, in the tutorial.
And when Captain Bernard was teaching me, I got to feel around for the speed and found it slow aswell.
But then Hans challenged me to a duel and holy shit, it gets fast rather quickly.

That was 4 diferent swing in less than 2 seconds and it blew me away because in other games a riposte means "lol you're at my mercy now".

It's difficult to fight more than one guy at a time, but doable with superior skill and especially armor, like IRL. A guy in full plate can smack around some mostly unarmed bandits without much trouble, but someone of a similar power level will be a much bigger deal. Armor makes a huge difference between a blow rustling your chain mail or gutting you.

My issue with the combat from what I've seen is the heavy lock on when fighting an enemy.

Shits itself as in bad performance? Not really. There's a 3 vs 3 fist fight near the begining with no trouble.
If you're talking about you vs two dudes, well, you're fucked unless you're really good at this and your character has good stats.
Consider that you're fighting with one pool of stamina against two. While one attacks, the other recovers his breath and you're losing it all the time. There's also the fact they'll circle you and you can't parry 360º around yourself.
You can lock-on a single enemy, but it's not too hard to change the auto-lock to another enemy. But then it's a game about distance: you gotta keep one of them back while you strike the other, then send that one back as the other approaches, turn around and deal with him and keep dancing back and forth between them. Unless you're really good (as a player) and got the stats/potions to back this up, you're dead meat.
And don't make the mistake I did were I found some heavy armour, assumed I was the PanzerKommander and tried to Blitzkrieg some bandits with wooden clubs. They'll pummel you relentlessly until you can't get up or move or do anything.
Heavy armour just means that in a one vs one fight the other guy will have a hell of a time trying to wound you. Copple that with a big-ass sword and all you need is 2 or 3 solid hits to decide the fight.
I'm saving BigGuy Henry playtrought for the next. Right now, sneaky breeky Henry just backstabs everything and runs like a madman when spotted. I've gotten quite good at losing pursuers in cities and forests.

Yes you can, though they have to be in the way of the swing. They can also get shot by friendly arrows if they're between you and an enemy archer, get struck by friends if you're fast and they move in.

I don't think you can hit more than one guy, but I haven't used any of the larger weapons yet. Really it's just not very likely to swing through a guy who's probably gonna block or parry your swing, and still have enough force in your weapon to be a threat to a second guy. The lockon takes a bit to learn how to bounce it around when you're fighting multiple guys. If you get surrounded you're probably fucked, you can't block and parry attacks from every angle. The game is a rags to riches revenge story, but your character still started out an illiterate blacksmith son who doesn't know which end of a sword to hold. Even as you and your character get better, there's a limit to how much one man can do.

Depends what you want from an open world but it seems good so far. The fast travel system is more of a map view travel, where you can encounter various random events, especially at night. Most can be ignored though, especially if you're sneaky. Besides that the open world isn't full of dungeons and enemies like Skyrim or something, for the most part all you'll find in the woods are animals to hunt. You can get in trouble for killing anything bigger than a rabbit though, but only if someone sees you. And even then, only if you don't kill them before they report it. Poaching is a big deal.

Also, is anyone else respected in towns but absolutely despised outside of them? Random people I meet on the trails just talk shit and won't talk to me unless I pay them, the greedy kikes.

The lock on won't bother you that much, you'll see.
You're mostly meant to fight one on one.
You can try fighting more but yeah, it's really hard.
I can't remember what's the specific control to change targets, but so far what I discovered is:
When the 5 star display shows up on an enemy, you're "soft-locked" to him.
If you move your mouse too much to the right or left, you swap to another target (if there is one in that direction) or disengage.
To prevent this, you can press TAB and keep the lock-on until the end of the fight or you manually disengage.
To manually disengage, you press SHIFT.
This is also handy because it's the sprint key. You usually want to keep it held down while doing this because if you're diseengaging, there's a good chance you're doing because something is about to murderize you and running is a good idea.

One more thing every user should realize:
Vávra and a lot of people on his team are fans of Pen&Paper RPG's.
If you've played D&D before, you'll recognize most of this mechanics as derivates from D&D engagement mechanics/flanking bonuses and so forth.
A lot of people say Morrowind is a straight Pen&Paper RPG but on PC.
KCD is even closer to being a P&P rpg and done quite right.

It's mostly empty really, but there are still locations and random events to come across. I came across some Cumans with a bunch of guys tied up in the woods, so I snuck in and untied a few. Turned out they were just fucking bandits though so even though they fought the Cumans they also tried to kill me. Fuckers. But yeah most of the time if you're looking for a mission or something, you'd best ask around in town. The wilderness is mostly just wilderness from what I've seen so far.

It is a mystery.

Random events are all over the place, but also in kind of expected areas. As far as I can tell, shop containers that you steal from don't respawn, and camps filled with bandits don't respawn, but ambush points where they try to attack you do. Wayfarers happen quite often, typically being beggars, peddlers and swordsmen, and bandit attacks happen often as well when you're off the beaten path. Most quest occur in cities and towns, but there are some that just kind of appear in random spots around the map. I don't believe side quests for hunting bandits are repeatable.
There's usually always something going on around you, even if you don't see it. Animals fucking around, people walking about, bandits dicking around in a camp, guards patrolling, wayfarers looking for somebody to fuck with, dead people on the road either used as bait or being looted by some random fucking shithead townie who accuses you of being the murderer despite them clearly having a fucking cudgel and looting their corpse, stuff like that.

The combat is really good, and contact based. It's not really reliant on animations at all unless you do pre-determined combos that lock an animation. The only reason it seems otherwise is because blocking and perfect blocking are like reactive i-frames that seem strange given the flow at times, but work quite well and it's really smooth and reactive when you're fighting a skilled opponent. You can demonstrate the contact functionality by slashing people who are surrendering or aren't in combat, because it'll note distance and angle in a few audible and visual ways.

Just wait for mod tools to come out. Let's hope the modding community won't become skyrim tier.

You can also shoot him with an arrow while hunting or when the Cumans tie him.
I wanted to ask if anyone tried that. Because the reward for saving him is a fucking horse, which almost like owning a car in the middle age. Can you just let him to die without anyone figuring out it was you? I don't think Ser Radliz would take you into his service if you did that, and that would change the story a lot.

There is a compass, though honestly it's not too necessary. I don't think you can remove it without using console commands, but it's still possible with that.
It's basically just the compass you have for navigation, and your map, which you use to figure out which road is the one that won't lead you into a ditch.

I always just fight the knight for the sake of it. They're fun and really train up your skill fast, and if you find him again it'll turn into a minor rivalry. Top-tier game design right there, if I'm being honest.

It does show objectives but from the quest list you can enable/disable tracking of any mission. Then it won't pop up in your compass.

Before those times you had to go through A LOT of hoops to actually gain clearance to leave your county, let alone country and travel elsewhere barring war or disaster. Modern day immigration practices will likely get you hung at the border checkpoint as a warning to other people attempting to do the same. Trade on the other hand is iffy. You need the protection of multiple parties to make it as an international merchant in the past and a lot of the people who did move to other countries to trade didn't move in numbers large enough to shift demographics.

I have yet to encounter a single game-breaking bug as well, just minor ones for inconvenience or immersion breaking shit. Just found out you can use disguises. Infiltrated a Cuman camp after knocking out a secluded guy and stealing his armor. A few people questioner me but managed to play it cool. Went to shit though when I tried to choke a guy out but he spun around, punched me in the face and sounded the alarm.

The funny part about that camp you're probably talking about is you can still run around with relative impunity because nobody can catch your lubed up and relatively buttery ass.

Your statement that console games are DRM free is irrelevant because there are many more restrictions that prevent you from playing a given console game than DRM.
For example, compare any PC game to its console port (or even vice versa in many cases). I can install Quake on my modern PC and play it with minimal or no trouble. But I can't play Quake for N64 without having an N64 (or emulating it, but that is beside the point since you're circumventing the whole thing at that point anyway and might as well pirate all your games). I don't need PC parts from 1996 to run Quake successfully.

When you kill enemies they have decent stuff that you can easily sharpen up to sell for more gold.

Nvidia cards are going to be the ones having trouble, I decided to try my oldest AMD card over a decade old. it runs on the lowest settings possible fine, so long as I keep the resolution relatively low although the fans come and go but it's old so I expected that.

So my first 15 minutes in the game (mostly just setting adjustments) and I'm already impressed however the loading screens I can see why people wouldn't like that. I can definitely see that being a much more demanded feature to be dealt with via patch or modding. The intro movie really impressed I loved it.

Now gameplay well I haven't gotten into a fight yet.

Also, short tip for fags paying attention.
Buy a new horse as soon as possible. The more weight capacity they have, the faster you'll accrue fuckloads of shekels in no time. Poaching random deer and stuff and then cooking it all will net you around 400-500 groschens per head, even more if you get a buck or some other higher quality type. Always sell or try to sell to the same trader, because the amount of groschens they have to give you for your goods increases with how much you sell to them.

Fences will give you better prices than any other trader without haggling, something like 75% value instead of the usual half-value to regular town traders. Try to have them gain shekel capacity as fast as possible so you can start swimming in it.
All of this basically put me in full plate with spurs and a 6000 groschen horse in not all that long.
