I think he's right though have beamdog changed/censored any of the actual content in the games. I know they made new expansions that ruined shit. However have they touched any of the base games? I'm legitimately asking I haven't heard of this happening but I would not be surprised if it did happen.

Correction: The majority of older shit on Steam is broken. I remember considering a few older things that were one burgerbuck in the past, just to have another backup but occasionally you see reviews about just data missing. Some publishers just shovel that shit worse than indies.

No. Having a fucking CD, patches and some basic fucking research skills is your best option. It's rare something has to be thoroughly unfucked unless in a few cases. The only thing I have run into that was a proper enhanced edition so far was Outcast 1.1. Arx Fatalis coming in second but that's not even fair to Outcast. Maybe Saints Row 2, but that's fairly fucked still no matter which way you kick it..

2 - IT'S NOT YOUR FUCKING STORY TO TELL, BITCH. IT WAS BIOWARE'S. This is exactly how shitty localizers like 8-4 or Treehouse defend rewriting everything in a game. Fates wasn't Treehouse's game to ruin, and Baldur's Gate/NWN weren't Beamdog's.

GoG installers are pretty good for older games. Their selection is limited. I actually have the whole GoG catalog on a external drive. My only gripe with them is that they do not give a shit about the Japanese market unless it is pozzed, they cater to very VERY Pc/"safe" games and developers. The other option is Steam, which I know is the bigger of evils but its all PC games have right now if you actually want to "buy" a game. Kingdom Come Deliverance will be the first time I have given money to steam in over 3 years. (I got a 50$ gift card from a family memeber, so I only have to give 20$)

I think they already took them down and you have to get the EEs for both to get a copy of the originals.

If you're going to not want to go though that basic work and never owned the damn thing before, fine. Still, in a lot of cases, out of date patches or for DOS stuff, shitty versions of DOSBox. Bioware makes incomplete games that has potential but something is missing. Beamdog fills in those gaps with the blandest content possible and tries to pass it off as art.

An analogy I heard once is imagine a racing game where every couple seconds a prompt would pop up that says:
"Would you like to drive on the left side, the right side, or the center?"
And you'd choose one of those three options, it's impossible to crash or lose the race and the options only matter so you can show how much of a left-side or right-side driver you are. This game would be absolutely awful and everyone would shit on it, even gayme journalists, yet somehow dialogue gets a free pass because noone's willing to do something like dialogue in The Sims. This is a problem that goes well beyond Bioware's games and permeates nearly every RPG, but it's particularly present in their games.

It's mostly okay. The additional characters they added are terrible, but not to the degree siege of dragonspear was since they were building on another game rather than making their own soapbox. As for characters they added a gay orc blackguard that will do the bioware thing where they will insist on pozzing your neghole and get upset when you decline. The other majorly awful one was a pink-haired wild mage who's a strong, independent womyn with a obnoxious personality and will cuck you if you try to pursue a relationship with her, more than once if you play BG2 with her as well. The monk they added is actually a pretty bro character so the one guy they must have had coding this shit was probably the guy who made him. They made a drow sorcerer too but I never touched him so I have no idea what his malfunction is. In BG2 they also add the biggest bullshit bait and switch companion which starts out as a confused black-haired qt, but really that's a ruse because the real character is a female count blacula who is also overpowered as hell.
If you can ignore the retarded companions however, the rest is mostly unchanged.

from what I heard the last few games didn't have dialogue changes, guess they actually heard the people complaining and realised it is a bad move.

This has been a module for forever, they sold it for a few bucks back when NWN Diamond was a thing. They just gave it to whatever company wanted to make modules with some light support from Bioware and let them sell it to have people buy more copies of Diamond. Kind of dumb to be putting it up on Steam of all things.

IGN had a huuuuuuge fuck archive and was the basis for the community for all the modules, mods and what not, until they decided that the game was irrelevant and a drain on their bandwidth. Most of the old mods are still there, but good luck finding more obscure .haks that some modules require unless you have a -really- good grasp on the Aurora editor.

That said there used to be a ton of really cool modules and epic campaigns for old NWN. The format was pretty terrible though, my NWN folder becoming increasingly large thanks to the .hak format their resource files used. That that I think it could be compressed at all. One guy even had a really neat Diablo-type module with random artifacts and custom races. Thats what kept me playing that game 5-7 years after its release.

I managed to mod out all the changes to BG1 (the extra NPCs). I'm sticking with the EE after trying and failing to.get the old one working. Obvioulsy I didnt spend a dime so i guess this is the best way to play.

NWN1 is still dragged down by the lack of full party control. It puts a serious limit on how modules are designed. You can't make combat too complicated, because you know the player can only control one character and that character can be of any class.

NWN1's OC has the best optional romance that I have ever seen in a video game.
