Denuvo doesn't do that automatically it depends on the publisher, Sonic mania had it so you couldn't play offline for all of a day, then they fliped the switch said it was "unintentional" and it can now be played offline fine.

At worst I think it's if you haven't connected to the internet in weeks then you can't play, which is fair criticism.
