Some user did some testing on how the Attack Power increases from different items stack & measure against each other in MHW
Note, these are the raw damage values, not the bloated ones you see if you look at your stats.

Stacking
Demondrug and Mega Demondrug do not stack, and Mega will overwrite the regular.
Mightseed and Mightpill do not stack, Pill will overwrite the seed.
Everything else stacks with eachother, And also with hunting horn songs.
They also stack with all armor skills.

Extra
Eat for Attack Up (L)
Mega Demondrug, at start.
Might Seed + Demon Powder when you are about to engage the monster. (Repeat every time you chase the monster after it flees)
Might Pill is only good in very limited things like using one before waking up a sleeping monster.
Same also applies for defense items, so if you are feeling vulnerable, try drinking a (Mega) Armorskin at start and eating an Adamant Seed when engaging a monster.

Monster hunter world is pretty fucking good.

Copypaste from previous thread, thank you for your hard work user
Did some research on Tempered Monsters in MHW
And collected them in this post for easy digestion.

What is a tempered monster?
Tempered monsters are the endgame/postgame monsters in MHW.
They are just like the regular monsters, but have increased attack power (enough to one shot geared hunters with certain attacks.)
Tempered monsters also have a purple outline in their icon and leave blue tracks.
Investigations with tempered monsters also have purple reward boxes.

Categorically the tempered monsters fall into 3 groups:

Pukei-Pukei
Barroth
Jyuratodus
Tobi-Kadachi
Radobaan
Paolumu
Rathian
Anjanath

Rathalos (Might be tier 1, could not confirm)
A.Rathalos
P.Rathian
Diablos
B.Diablos
Odogaron
Legiana
Bazelgeuse
Lavasioth
Uragaan

Nergigantte
Teostra
Kushala Daora
Vaal Hazak
Kirin

Higher the tier, the better the rewards.
Note: the highest rarity drops are exclusive to the 3rd tier.

Where to fight them?

Tempered monsters are primarily investigation only, there are also few quests that pit you against tempered monsters.
Tempered monster investigations are generally unlocked by gathering tempered tracks in expeditions. (These tracks seem to always spawn in the same spots)
You can also them the same way as normal investigations when hunting tempered monsters. (break parts, gather tracks) But the chance is very low.
They are also found under Investigations section when responding to S.O.S.

Why to fight them?

Tempered monsters drop streamstones in rewards and tempered monster investigations reward either streamstones or feystones.
Streamstones are used to augment Armor. They also come in different rarities.
Streamstones can also be used at the melding pot to create new random decorations out of the old ones.
You can also rarely get "warrior's streamstone" from 2nd tier upwards, they come in different types like Axe (Switch Axe & Charge Blade), Ranged (Bowgun's & Bow), etc, and can be used to augment the corresponding weapon types.
Warrior's streamstones also have a rare version called "hero's streamstone" needed for augmenting Tier 8 weapons.

Note: that lower rarity armor require lower rarity streamstones to augment and lower rarity weapons have more augment slots.

Feystones turn into decorations when identified, and come in several different rarities.
This is the only real way of getting rare decorations, and the fastest way of getting decorations in general.
There are decorations for at least some of the set bonuses present in the game. (Bonus charge level for bow, Extra damage on non elemental weapons, etc).

Augmenting quick and dirty

Weapons can be Augmented following ways:
Increased attack (+5 raw)
Increased affinity (+10%)
Bonus defense (+10)
Extra slots (potentially upgrade existing slot)
Heal on attack

Note: Numbers can potentially vary depending on weapon type.

Rarity 8 weapons have 1 augment slot, Rarity 7 has 2 and Rarity 6 has 3.
Each augment also requires different plates and gems for different monsters.

Note: A weapon must be at the end of it's upgrade path to be augmented.

OFFICIAL /MHG/ SQUAD
EIGHTH FLEET

Eighth Fleet squad session ID: 62FjtKT8GyTp

Joining the session does not change anything. It's like a LAN or lobby. You can still solo quests. This means you can join and continue on as normal while chatting.
When you post a quest, it will be visible to the rest of us and we can join before you depart or during the quest.
For those who still need an invite: just type in the ID in "join online session" | "search via ID"
Reminder that you don't need the ID if you're already in the squad, but if you can't seem to connect to the one that already exists (via squad session search), you might want to use the ID instead.
Unfortunately, the gathering hall hub is near-pointless since you can just post the quests from the village. That being said, we like to see that pretty face, so afk there and not the gay village unless you want to be a homo.

Will reply to this post when ID changes

...

So exactly like before?

Needs more poogie love tbh

Plates drop very easily in this game, i just carved two off a Rathian and got 2 from a Rathalos in the rewards. I also got 3 gems from 1 fight against Zorah Magdoros yesterday without a lucky voucher. When i did use a voucher i always got 2 of them.

New room when?

I've only been there since yesterday and I've only made Zorahs armor so far.

Should I just wait for the PC release?

G-rank isn't out, they're still adding in monsters that have been core to the series for years, so yes.

Get it on Bloodborne box for jolly cooperation, give in to temptation.

The current Scrapping with Shamos event seems to drop two feystones a run. Good farm for herbs and (blue deer I cannae remember)horns as well, three minutes a run if you're quick about it.

that's just to get the eyepatch overall right? I can't tell if there's more to that set or not and i only did that event twice

Are folks going on PS4 or the pro?

admittedly i am having lots of fun but still

Rate my guy, post your guys/gals
I tried to make mine look like as if he is from Miami so he is supposed to look as douchey as possible.

I've been maining the Funlance recently and I had a couple questions.
How do I perform this?I've done it a couple times and it feels so badass to leap up and blast a monster in the face midair. For some reason I cannot replicate it. I swear you could do it from the ground and not near a step but I could be wrong.

My armor set for the Funlance is exclusively guard and artillery. Is this retarded y/n?

Guard is okay, but not that needed. You would probably benefit more from just damage up. Artillery is pretty good I think.

Squad leader here, thanks for being on top of this when I'm off. You can check the session ID in the player list.

Current ID: 32WsPrtmTTHL

I really hope I don't have to keep saying this but just in case: You do not need the ID if you're already in the squad.

no cuntsniffing smirk and no straw/10
Try again, aniki.

=WORSHIP=

Yes, unless you're rich and don't care.
If you are rich splurge and get a Bloodbornebox Pro. If you already have a ps4, then 60-80$ won't kill you if you're a fan of MH games.
If you have no experience with MH, buy a console that actually good, like a 3DS with mh4U.

Zorah Magdaros Gems are easier than other gems. Much easier.
Gems seem to have replaced plates as the "must-have rare drop".

Doesn't matter too much. If you absolutely want a better framerate, less loading times, and have money to splurge, then go for the pro.
I'm using the regular PS4.

Good call.

POST HUNTERS YOU FAGS

Hi newfag
Whatever bullying comes your way, you deserve it.

CBA reloading areas and checking one spot to have a roll at getting an elder dragon investigation.

so far its been the only big mess in the game for me, I am HR 59 odd, the games already shown me one tempered elder dragon and I know I can beat them but to get more the only way seems to refresh the SOS investigations until I see one or to reload any of the areas in expedition mode and check the 1 footprint per spawn to get a chance at getting more.

Tempered Elder Dragon Investigations I should say.

I should also say weapon augments and all the good gems are locked behind these investigations, and doing investigations doesn't get you any more of them, only checking footprints does, and only during the mission not after it's complete, just incase any anons need this info sorry for spamming.

Does felyne specialist apply to blast weapons?

This kind of stuff is quickly starting to become the worst part of this game. I wanted to get another Golden wyverian print and one way to get those is to complete the expedition researchers quests. I'm completely stuck right now because the endemic researcher wants me to catch a bird that randomly spawns during dawn or dusk on specific herbivores. Time slowly progresses in expeditions and when you travel between areas/HQ. The problem being that dawn and dusk only last for a single fast travel, maybe two if you're fast enough. Same with the rare bird that spawns on mosswine.

Is there anything in world more satisfying than being on a large wyvernns head during a mount attack and using a charged blast element CB for a giant elemental axe discharge attack?

Pyro does.

a perfectly timed greatsword charge into knockdown

Looking a Diabolos dead in the eye as it headlong charges, knocking it aside as you encore damage buff(L), breaking its second horn as well as dropping a beautiful scale from the bandit cloak you dawned like a matador cape comes pretty close methinks.

I don't know if I can get tonight, I just hope I can get into a session that isn't empty.

Also, am I the only one with a semi autistic obsession in collecting weapons? at least from one tree.

Category I mean.

After I collect enouth greatswords I'll go with hunting horns or gunlances.

No I'm the same I don't consider myself done with the game until I've built every weapon in the game with whatever I'm using for that game.

I'm not so into upgrading all the weapons. I just like to focus in the ones I like.

Also, silly question. Do the sailor bring any usefull crafting item? or should I focus on him bringing me money items?

Gotcha bitch

Yes, please don't listen to these idiots. If you are not interested in Yakuza and a few other games just wait for pc. It'll probably have a crack as well. This game isn't worth $360.

...

I've just been having him bringing me money since money is probably the biggest limiting factor in the game until you can start selling parts from hunts.

I'll never be that good at MonHun.

Weird. I always felt like money is pretty easy to get, but I'm still discovering the mysterious new Rathian, so I don't know if everything gets ridiculously expensive soon.

It depends on how much you grind and how much you build.

I can say I grind a lot, and early I grinded many quests at first.

Did you build/upgrade a lot of equipment?

Will anyone really be?

Though I have killed charging diablos with gs charge and lance dash's stab. Those were neat.

yeah, but I had to grind a lot to get the materials first. I am actually following all the avariable weapon branches except 3 or 4.

I'm just at 100k and it doesn't go up or down.

Yeah I killed a Nergigante by guardpointing his dive bomb it was fucking awesome. I'm still awful though and if I didn't pull off that guard I would have failed the quest.

If you are at that point you are probably okay. I think what is killed my money was upgrading my armour. That seems to be stupidly expensive and everyone else I know who is broke did that.

Oh yeah. I wore the same armor until I reached high rank.

There is no need for buying all armors especially when some of them look like horrorific sentai ripoffs.

"Hardcore" hunters who quit after one cart because it would besmirch their spotless record will never know the adrenaline of having no carts left and defeating the monster in a glorious Hail Mary.

So what kind of stats make for a good HBG? I know the slicing shot meme, and a glance at kiranico shows the kadachi bowgun with four slicing shots and the two ore/bone lines have three each. Are those some of the min/max memelord weapons?

All you want for the memes is kadachi bowgun with the skill that sometimes doesn't use up your ammo. Other skills are just bonus.

Fukken sweet, time for memes.

Blast technically isn't a status, so no, nothing that increases "status" effects Blast.

Does World treat gems as something different now? They've always just been High Rank's new name for plates, no different than how "Scale" becomes "Scale+" or "Shell" becomes "Carapace", or how "Plate" and "Gem"/"Ruby"/"Skymerald" and so on become "Mantle" in G-rank.

thanks, I wasn't sure because it's in the status list in the monster notebook but these things have always been finicky

I miss this greatsword, I spent 110 hours trying to get this version in world to work but it's just not great, you have to do Draw > charge up > tackle > charge up > tackle to get to the big swing combo and hitting it is such a pain in the cunt that you are much better off just using lance or longsword for more frequent attacks rather than big burst.

Also the multiplayer scaling is fucked to the point where me and my brother can both kill elder dragons in 5 minutes solo but if we team up it goes up to 10 minutes a kill, way to encourage us to team up fuck my life man.

Does it even make sense to make a full armor set in MHW?

Some of the high rank makes sense, complementary skills, but the set bonuses are three out of five pieces. Mostly do it for unity of aesthetic.

Certain sets give set bonuses. Besides, fashion hunting has always been a legitimate strategy.

You dont have to tackle always with the GS, only if you can benefit from the shield effect or the reposition. If you cancel the second charge with tackle the final one takes more time to reach full power.
So basically to deal damage fast is Draw > charge lv.0 > charge Full using the tackle in between if you need it.
Problem in world is that only the last charge deal significant damage.

So, now that you've had a chance to play the game, is there a consensus on whether the game is casual garbage or not? I peeked my head in here once or twice during the lead up and most posts were screeching about how it'd ruin the series and be awful and so on.

I dislike MH, but I'm not going to play this one either way; I am asking for curiosity's sake.

Why the fuck are any of you buying this on PS4 and giving capcom money?

It's retarded. If my memory is right, it's worked like this since way back when it was still called Slime in 3U. It's generally boosted by things that boost explosives, which makes sense, so I guess they thought having it be buffed by both those skills and by general status skills would have made it even more OP than it already was. Or maybe it's because other statuses apply a continuous and more traditional "status effect" once they trigger, whereas blast is an instantaneous effect? Falling asleep, being paralyzed, and being poisoned are all traditional RPG status effects, but it'd be a stretch to consider an instant explosion a "status effect". Whatever the logic behind it is, they should really make it more clear Blast isn't technically considered a "status" in-game, because when they list Blast under the status list and group it with all the other statuses, then there are obviously going to be a lot of people who think it's going to be effected by the same skills as para, poison, and sleep.

Casual garbage with microtransactions.
Not a horrible game, but a bad monster hunter for the stupid shit it does. Including introducing paid dlc and trying to make Monster hunter into an Esport

you know i don't disagree with how microtransactions and e-sport pushing is a bad thing but that sentence establishes that you're a blowhard sperg trying to lap at the tit of previous monster hunter games that everyone here also likely played.

Its good and this has nintendrones in total catastrophic meltdown.

What are you even talking about, it's part of a series and changing things to be more accessible makes it feel like a toukiden game more than a monster hunter. Not to mention how they approach the multiplayer and the like

the complaints about the game becoming easier (ie "casualized") is literally whining about jank mechanics being removed
thats it

Damn I hate that jank being removed

Monster Hunter World

2 of the 3 mentions there are easy to ignore, if you feel they make the game too easy. as for the carting bit, what specifically are you referring to?

just git gud, my man. Also, being able to absorb a single hit from a tempered monster with vitality mantle sure is game breaking :^)

after a set amount of time i don't know the exact number of you can eat your meal again at camp

A lot of bad design inflicted on the franchise for a variety of reasons have been removed. it's not that the game is easier because they lowered monster difficulty, but rather players are given more tools and freedom which indirectly makes hunt easier, like how Dark Souls 3 is easier than Dark Souls 1 because the game doesnt play like hot garbage anymore targeting-wise. Hard monsters are still hard.
You purists are as retarded and stubborn as Meleefags.

It's good. There's definitely legitimate criticisms you can make (Palicos are OP, the gathering hall is fucking useless and dead, unskippable cutscenes), but the core Monster Hunter gameplay is still there.
It's a shame most of the detractors devolve into autistic screeching instead of actually making arguments and keeping the thread civil.

Aren't that great. They're useful, but are far from the biggest problem.
You can only eat every 10 minutes. In addition, each type of food can only be used once. Since only fresh food gives health and a chance of activating daily skills, eating after the first time usually just gives stamina and the buff associated with that food.
This is bad. Thankfully you can play around it and just not restock on items.

I gave mine the radoman armor/weapon because it looked funny but know he puts a monster to sleep once or twice a hunt, the dude slaps

Well see in previous games carting has the added penalty of making you lose your food buff. But as you can just you know ignore that provided you cart less than once every 10 minutes it removes any supplementary penalty. And honestly if you cart more than once every ten minutes you really should be playing a different game, there's no helping you.

Not really, the monster AI wasn't really adjusted on the older monster for the massively more mobile hunters, leading all older monsters to be basically completely nonthreatening. HBG for some reason has hunter arts brought back under a new coat of paint and lost the whole idea of what made it unique compared to bow or LBG with how you can move now.

Just ignore it isn't really a reason to accept it. It's the same shit with hunter arts and the like from gen, you're just gimping yourself if you're not abusing the casualized shit, and as the game's easy enough that the only real challenge is TAs, we have a conflicting issue.

I tend to see the opposite actually - most of the detractors make rational arguments and points, while the supporters primarily shitpost and try to dismiss anyone who doesn't like the game as salty Nintenyearolds or the sinister Nipanon.

It's a good game but it feels more like a combination of MH with Dragons Dogma with how free you are to move around the map.
Overall some changes are good, some changes are bad, but considering how much they changed the implementation was good, although flawed.
Also yes, Low Rank is easy like every other monster hunter since 3u, I think I lost more times to HR Nergigante than I did to anything before G-rank in 4u.
You still do exactly the same thing you did in all other monster hunters just with more stuff and less content.
And the fucked up hitboxes are still here

Using buzzwords like casualized, westernized, etc is not an argument.

...

if the game is so easy, why would you need to abuse the casualized shit?

That's how I felt with the Barroth. Then again, that just might be me getting good. I haven't had any trouble with that monster for the most part anyway.

Neither is using ones like salty, Nintenyearold, or Nipanon.

You don't. You're losing an edge over people who do though. and as TAs are the only real content that matters, you see where direct competition matters

You’re so in denial it hurts.

...

Say that to capcom, they're trying to turn it into an esport

This is very useful, thank you. I like most of these changes, but there are a handful of "features" like unskippable cutscenes and low monster count which I would be unable to tolerate.

Maybe I'll pirate the inevitable Actually Complete HD Edition when it releases in a year. My problem with MH, at least from the smidgen of 3U I played, was how everything was incredibly clunky and unintuitive, so even if your character controls like an actual video game dude who can roll and jump, I think I may enjoy it.

How often do the environmental traps/monster interactions make fights easier? There were a lot of those in the trailers and the new AI seemed to prioritize running into them as much as possible.

Who gives a fuck what capcom wants?

Your unwarranted sense of self-importance is baffling.

They're not that common, but they do make the hunts easier when they happen

Didn't make it myself, just reposting it since the current OP forgot to, but glad it could help.

What exactly do you even mean, most old monster received new moves, Azure Rathalos doesn't fucking stand still, yes you can flash him, like in every other game and then push his shit in, slow monsters like Uragaan and Diablos are slow hard hitting monsters, with B.Diablos still retaining her super sonic dash.
I really don't understand what you mean, this is more of an issue I found in Gen than in world, in fact most of the new monsters are the easiest monsters.

...

What? You mean retards do stupid shit? It's going to implode spectacularly and they'll lose tons of money on it and won't learn a single lesson.

Don't even get me started on how bad gen was. Still the worst monster hunter game to the point where I'd say it's not even worth playing.
But just the general moves of monsters that were carried over are much more suited to hitting the slower hunter from before rather than the anime character you play in world (or gen because absolute evade was horrific)

this is one i'm still on the fence about, I feel like i'm spending a lot more time per hunt sharpening, especially when my weapons were more lower rank. I don't miss consumable nets/axes and I'm actually glad that ores and shit don't hog up my pouch space anymore. Changes like that actually made it so I could get straight to the fighting parts of the game even faster and gathering while on quest isn't as annoying
The slinger is fucking fun i don't care if it's casual or not, it's a lot more fun to use it to shoot flash bombs than the janky old throwing systems, and swinging around a map is fun. Getting free slinger bombs when beating up a monster enough is kinda lame though. It is cool that you can use the torch bombs in the rotten vale to break the poison effect out

It's what now?

If I'm not wrong the automatic combinations only happen if you gather the items on the field. If there is other way to do so I have yet to see it.
You can assign combos to the radial menu but they only make one item at a time.

The last charge only gets to true charge if you do a tackle before it, if you do draw > 3 charge the max charge for the last one is only 2, if you do draw > start charging > tackle > start charging > true charge gets 3 levels.

I can see what you're saying, but the only monster I completely agree with what you is Barroth which was castrated in this game, but Barroth is also a very early LR monster now.
I guess Diablos is also slower until he gets enraged, but that's it.
I guess Daora is easy too if you spam slicing ammo, but that's everything.

Slicing ammo is absurd in this game for whatever reason

I think the two charge from the previous charge does the same damage as the three charge from the tackle. Might be wrong, but it's worth investigating.

if you shoot torch pods at the ground in the shitty areas of the rotten vale it will disperse the poison gas

I've checked and they deal the same damage, being the only difference the time it takes.
I'll be doing some more testing tomorrow just in case.

I want Japs to be gone.

Oh neat. Kind of a cool little detail.

I just checked this right now and the 3 charge true strike hits more on both of the hits.

You know you can filter by language so you only get English speakers, right?

Can't you only choose between your own language and world-wide?
my region is probably even worse

Jesus christ that is a retarded design.

I believe so, would be a little odd if you were playing in English and filtered yourself out by selecting Japanese only or vice versa. It's probably decided by the language you choose in-game though, not the physical area you live in.

>my region is probably even worse
France?

Just checked myself
Draw > charge > charge
53 and 463
Draw > tackle > charge
53 and 463
This is in the training area without gear

Also more interesting data.
Draw atack
109
lv 3 1st charge
203
lv 0 second charge
150
lv3 second charge
222

Jesus what a joke

Oh, if you hold the two charge too long, it'll auto fire and do less damage than letting it go at the right time.

Isn't that how Greatsword charges have always worked?

that implies people who came into the series have ever played a monster hunter before

Probably? I'm not familiar with the exact mechanics.

According to my meme-to-difficulty algorithm this beasty is going to meat gate japs out of any content past him.
Is this a correct assumption?

Dang, I must have crit my bad, it's still retarded the 3 charge true strike should hit more its harder to pull off, either way the greatsword is shit, the highest raw damage weapon (arena) can't get white sharpness even with handicraft 5.

and elementless is where it's at because you can slot in elementless up and put the whole diablos set effect into one gem.

Uh oh.
hooktube.com/watch?v=x8EtuLelERk
Are you ready for a wave of destinyfags you guys?

They'll give up once they hit HR.

I didn't notice any shift in warframe's community, so MH will be fine.

Either you're overstimating how good they are, or World is that fucking brainless I hope to god it's the former

You mean two charge? The two tackle charge seems like it's the easier one to get off.

Granted This is my 5th monster hunter however low rank in world is the easiest I've played. Unless I was just refusing to heal I never carted. However this is pretty much the same experience I had with MHX's low rank.

...

He sounds like the average WoWscum that thinks they should immediately get some kind of gear upgrade if they even look sideways at content. One of those 'I only play two hours a week, but I deserve all the same rewards as the people who invest time and effort.'

is there a good way to farm hardbones? need a bunch for armor and weapon upgrades

Anything around pink rathian tier monsters I think.
Try G. Girros maybe.

you can get it as a reward for killing uragaan if I remember right

Eating after a cart never gives you fresh ingredients. You will almost never get food skills, and no one is forcing you to double eat. No one is forcing you to use any of the "casual" features in this game. I made it a personal quest to kill nergigante with zero carts and no calico before I opened him up to other players to join and it was one of the most difficult things I have ever done in all 3,000 plus hours of Monster Hunting I have under my belt.

No one is forcing you at gunpoint to play like a casual, user.

ive been farming him and get 1-2 each hunt and need 12 i think

Pretty much any high rank monster will get you hardbones. I can't wait for grank. Holy fuck it's going to be so good guys.

Basically they made 0-2 charge useful because casuals can't handle waiting to deal optimal damage. All about rushing that DPS now.

I've got bad news user…

My theory is that with how well it's selling they will do G rank expansion/dlc.

How? I want Mexico out.

...

They'll likely do a G version like they always do, just the tone of it sounds like he thinks G Rank is in the game and he's looking forward to it.

I've gotten some from rathalos.

Just choose your default language as english for voice (I think).

Why does the filename say he put the controller down? Did he put it down and go AFK thinking they would leave him alone and then rush back when he heard shit going down? I just don't get it.

Is that what the filename says? I think it makes sense, the last input is around 20 seconds and he moves the camera at 26 when he picks the controller back up.

The lasses in this game are cute. !!

>SKYMERALD

I meant that there will be a World Ultimate Edition and the thought gets my fucking dick hard. I FUCKING NEED IT.

No one is forcing you to use Styles and Arts in Gen and XX either. No one is forcing you to use charms in 3rd gen. No one is forcing you to use quest markers in Oblivion and Skyrim, no one is forcing you to time your inputs any sloppier in SFV, no one is forcing you to buy P2W microtransactions in countless games, no one is forcing you to use most kinds of casualization in most games. That doesn't make it acceptable. Shills keep trying this argument, with every single game pandering to casuals by making everything easier and simpler and removing more and more consequences ruins. No one's buying into this bullshit you're trying to feed us. Just ignoring the side effects caused by a fundamental difference in a game's design theory, the side effects of a cancer slowly killing the gaming industry as a whole, will not make that cancer go away. You can make a game as piss easy as pokemon hard as fuck if you're willing to gimp yourself in a dozen different ways, that doesn't mean that pokemon isn't one of the most casual friendly, hand-holding games in Nintendo's entire lineup, and doesn't mean it isn't designed to be completed by 4 year old children. World was designed for people who refused to play old MH games because it was too hard. It was designed for people who couldn't even count to 10 without having an aneurysm. It was designed for people who couldn't bare to stand still for 3 whole seconds without throwing out the game in a fit of ADHD induced rage, or who bitched that trying to use the slowest attack on the slowest weapon in the game would lock them into place for a moment and they couldn't evade out of the attack before it even released.

So I doubt Deviljho is gonna be all that comes in the spring DLC. What other monsters you guys wanna see? Here's what I'm hoping for:

If you wanna feel inadequate you should see some of the montages the Germans have put together. Those guys turned knocking wyverns out of the sky into an art form.

Makes me wonder where they went wrong with the story handler. I still stand by my theory that they were trying to make her a more western looking girl but because nips don't know what a westerner looks like they made her ugly.

yes please
please no more

Ugh, the fucking UI in this game is so ugly. Why did they change it, they completely ruined that made game unique. Its artstyle.

ruined the one thing* fuck me, nb

C'mon, you know you wanna.

I hear the artstyle argument a lot in these threads but I think people are forgetting that Monster Hunter has always gone for a photorealistic style. It just spent over a decade on PS2 grade hardware. Their promotional material alone makes this clear.
On the UI front, I don't think it matters too much. Because how often do you really stop to appreciate the UI? The only time the UI design is ever front and center in the series is Portable 3rd. Where it's cut paper cutouts UI design populates more than just your health gauge, it's in the loading screens and all sorts of other screens you didn't think they'd sneak masterfully done UI elements.

oh christ

>killed chupacabra and still havent been able to upgrade it
this feels weird, especially coming from SnS in FU

Please be patient. The Handler has autism.

For some reason Capcom tried to keep CB from dominating 4U by making it's upgrade path a lot longer between upgrades (once you get past the simple Jaggi and Iron/Machalite upgrades) and a lot more tedious and material intensive than the other weapons to upgrade.
This obviously didn't work as CB is one of the strongest weapons in both 4U and World. Even if it did require extra grinding in 4U.

k

A "somewhat" photorealistic style. When it came to environments and interactive objects, they were clearly and well defined as opposed to the gratuitous mud and bloom that plagues World.

It is? it would explain why everything feels a bit easier in comparison to FU,

It's tricky to use but fucking broken when you master it.

World is fucking EZ mode since the red shield never goes away until the timer is up, meaning you can use ULTRA bursts non-fucking-stop AND element discharge parries the entire time.

I wanna nargacuga

Dont forget the brutal damage SAED deals.

Narga is good choice.

But frankly, the less monsters that end up in world, the better, because the shills and cuckchanners that think the game is remotely hard is insulting.

Of course.

What is the real logic behind this?

(You)'s

Probably. The nigger didn't even know that it is called SAED regardless if it is impact or elemental phial.

No logic. This game has really upset the local drooling fucking retards.

of course ,smokescreeners and mhw apologists will now sperg out and defend the game on all fronts. You know ,the same kind who spam images of the retard wrangler unironically.

That doesn't even make sense.
Good thing I wanted to post confused anime girls.

Other way around, it's early game progression is a carryover from vanilla 4 where it was dismissed pretty universally as meh. 4U turned it around really heavily.

Completely opposite, it's drawn in the morons from outside to come shitposting to defend it.

It's like this; I can talk about how I fought Nargacouga, tigrex, or Akantor or Fatalis and the hunts I had vs them and no one woud think for a moment I mean a super casual version of the monster in an arena meant to hinder the monster as much as possible while the hunter has so many buffs as to make the battle not even a trial.

Much like when someone mentions Vanilla Tri Barroth in comparison to any other version of Barroth.

How is Wii emulation these days anyhow? I still need to play Tri someday.

Are you complaining about the arena mission that spawns if you capture something or are you taking those screencaps completely seriously?

Good.A bit too much bloom but maybe that's fixable and I was too lazy

Not really. It has an extremely high skill ceiling, but even at its best, it can't come close to GS or IG. It's just that it's extremely easy to use at a more basic level despite that high ceiling, and its insanely high ability to KO by practically buttonmashing mindlessly allows even the lowest skilled shitters to get to G-rank. If you want to see the true strongest weapon in 4U, give Insect Glaive a try. It can perform only slightly worse than GS does, on GS's best matchups. But it can perform just as well on pretty much anything, lacking any major "bad matchup", meaning it's about to kill almost anything faster than any other weapon, aside from GS's handful of best matchups. Top tier IG play is a beauty to behold, and it needed to be nerfed into oblivion for Generations.

Awesome. Can it run from legit discs?

hammer is so much fucking fun in this one

I just got to high rank quests and I'm having a lot of fun with Magdaros' blast hammer, tbh.
It's a shame that blast damage apparently doesn't scale at all, it's 80, 100, or 120 depending on their resistance

Didn't you know user? It's totally like those screen caps. It's even worse. The monsters will go out of the way to get caught in traps. Smoke even blast my chemical romance as the vines tighten around their useless throats. And they are every where. I was fight Tempered Ajanath in the ancient forest and he was spilling his spaghetti all over the place. He certainly wasn't one shooting me with his flame breath in Nergigante gear.

I've been using the girro tree hammer which seems stupid powerful since you can paralyze a monster into a knockout like a complete animal with it, shits fun though

So casual and easy.

The Monster Hunter fanbase that existed before World is a bunch of minmaxing autists who know every trick in the book and don't consider something to be difficult unless the button combinations required to beat it actually give you a repetitive stress injury.

it really is for me

Whatis IG like? i was thinking bout trying it out,
also i was wondering if you could feed the kinsect the Stat+element things to get the best kinsect?

Got any evidence? Because it's more likely that you're either doing something wrong, lying or are undergeared.

I can strawman too!
The Monster Hunter fanbase that exists after World is a bunch normalfags attracted by flashy moves who know nothing about the series and don't consider something to be easy unless the monster damage is high to compensate for the player's increase in power instead of improving monster behavior to work better with the new player options.

On another note, mind explaining how the old games were "janky" when the monsters were designed with your movement options in mind so it never feels unfair? This is starting to remind me of the bullshit I keep hearing about tank controls sucking shit in Resident Evil when the games they're used in are built around them so it feels tight, fair and satisfying to master the enemies behavior in relation to your movement options. Actual jank like hitboxes was fixed ages ago, while actual quality of life improvements like crafting items by holding confirm have been added long ago. Crafting items during combat with the item wheel isn't a fucking QoL improvement when it lets you craft ammo during a fight without needing to disengage from the monster or taking the risk of doing it during combat, a risk that can be mitigated by placement, monster knowledge and even how fast you can navigate the menus or being able to change gear during a hunt/eat during a hunt/grab items during a hunt which completely removes the need to prepare for a hunt. Tracking's a good idea if the scoutflies weren't shit that helps with the feeling of hunting monsters, bringing your entire fridge full of drinks and every weapon and ammo type you own in your car isn't.

Is that really a strawman when the director outright said World was built with those people in mind as the target audience?

But fatalis was already nerfed in 4u.

Really though, you gotta consider how many bloopers he had. These guys do way crazier shit, but they have an outtakes section at the end. You WILL get this good if you play enough, it just depends if you use it to hunt, or to make wicked videos.

Man, the Pink Rathian is my favorite monster, but for it to only have that shitty EX Rathian set in World kills my chub. If G Rank doesn't come and give us decent armour then I'm really gonna have some issues sticking around.

Also, what the fuck is a Longsword "Foresight Slash"? I've just been using my old bread and butter combos, didn't even notice that until recently.

Probably the counter. If you do it just as a monster is hitting you, you can do spirit combo finisher: easy gauge lvl up. But if you miss, you lose your gauge fill.

Oh, it's another of those things from Generations eh?

Probably, I didn't play LS in gen though.

Killing pink rathians are a challenge, especially if the damn bombing dragon interrupts. I would grind a little before going after it if I could, but I have to hurry to get the weekly quota.

yay or nay?

PC gets the same game but just caught up with the free DLC monsters in fall, then in spring World G comes out.

What said, the main team is supposedly working on the PC port rather than outsourcing it, and even when they're not working on ports to unfamiliar hardware they tend to take at least a year to do G versions. If G comes out with the PC release assuming PC release doesn't get delayed, of course it's going to be a fucking small G Rank.

Actually, you're partly wrong on this count. With the addition of quest markers to games with exploration, the developers completely did away with any kind of design choices that would lead the player around organically. We're talking about little things like trees placed just so to form a small path, or torches in the distance to tell you something's there. So while no one really has a gun to your head, telling you to turn on quest markers, you're a little fucked if you don't, because gone are the little clues you used to be able to use to deduce where you were going.

Yeah, in Skyrim you'll look at a book a get a quest to find someone's hidden stash. But the book doesn't say where it's hidden, the quest log doesn't say by a tree next to the river. The only way you'll find that stash is to follow the quest marker.

Well ive killed every monster now
What a shallow attempt at getting a western audience.
Less content and an awful unskippable story
Well at least the corpse dragon was ok but outside its breath it doesn't fucking do anything

All the fast monsters like the red doggo are just crap compared to sergios

Maybe next time they will improve hunting horns

waiting on that bullying ~nerd~

Minion rule 63.jpg

I didn't even buy this game myself, but I feel buyer's remorse

You can buy ps+ for dirt cheap on ebay ¢99ish for 14 days or less than $5 for 3 months

I shared this discovery at the end of the last threads life but it didn't get much attention.
Sony has a 14 day free trial for new accounts that have a credit card that have never had ps+. How it works is you buy a new account, you sign in and set it as your primary account on your ps4 and your main account can now play online and play the "free games". You could also do this yourself without buying the accounts but i haven't bothered to learn how to do so myself and I think paying less than $5 is worth not having to do that work but if you aren't a lazy sack of shit and don't want to pay a cent for ps+ the option is there.

I believe so. I know you can rip your own discs at least.

I wonder if we'll get any MAD for mhworld. Got curious and searched, only one result as of now.

I know this feeling. I used to work at FUCKING GAMESTOP and Bethesda did this thing for retail wage slaves who sold vidya where if you answered little online quizzes showing you could regurgitate their propaganda for their products they'd give you free downloads for some of their games. It's how I played not only Skyrim, but Rage and I think Brink as well - didn't spend a dime on any of 'em, and I still regret wasting the time and bandwidth on them.

Good to know on the Wii emulation, will give it a go at some point. Thanks user.

Is MonsterHunter.fr official, or fans?

I would hope they'd use G Rank to bring back G Rank monsters like Hypnocatrice and Ukanlos. But I bet their G Rank is just gonna bring in the rare species variants. Which just brings back bad memories for me. I do not look forward to fighting Gold Rathian/Silver Rathalos at the same time again.

...

Fish afficionado best grill.

I'd say official ?, video was put up on November 6 2017 and their account only have video about world. Turns out there is 2 other mad video, but they're as shit as the one I posted earlier.

...

I thought I was the only one.

Sisterly fourth is my favorite girl. So nice.

???

Mustard here, what's the consensus on World? Is it as good as the previous games or were the doomsayers right?
I'm probably gonna get it either way but I want to know if I was right in being optimistic.

Certain fish, mostly definitely in this world, are aphrodisiacs.

Never listen to Holla Forums's shit taste

Consensus seems to be somewhat in the middle - the doomsayers got a lot right, and it does make the game piss easy, but there's potential enough that the G Rank version might make it good. For details on what exactly is up with World, see:

Just like with daburu kurosu, huh?

user, someone already asked the same exact question you did.

Read the thread next time

Different. Lots of quality of life improvements, but the one completely legit complaint I'm seeing is that the ported monsters aren't able to completely handle improved player speed. Everything else appears, to this outsider's eyes, experiment/mutation on the formula in small degrees.
But that's just my opinion, probably a wrong one despite my fun.

Is it worth farming for a full set early on or is it best to just make whatever and wait till end game?

Oh I know, I take everything with a grain of salt.

Yeah, my mistake. Sorry.

A lot of those changes did seem good to me when I first saw them, but I felt like it was drowned out by all the other (seemingly) bad changes/additions.
I think that was a complaint in MH4 as well, people saying the old monsters weren't quite as polished as the new ones.

Either way, I can stomach the game not being very difficult. Playing with a coordinated group made low and high rank in the other games a walk in the park as well, and people always said G-Rank is when the real game starts. I'm confident it'll turn out fine.
Thanks for the replies, anons. I guess I'll be waiting patiently.

Is there really no blood in MHW?

Nice Dandy

There are other legitimate complaints.
I hate what they did to the gathering hub, it's useless now.
Mantles can be a little OP and carry you. It's like a crutch and it makes players bad when they reach HR.
Also the weapon designs are not unique at all. Some are, but most aren't. They use a base template for bone and iron, then just change it little by little as you progress in the tree.
The only unique-looking early hammer is the legianna ice hammer. It looks sick and even the whoosh sounds are different. For some reason there are no other hammers like this.

The weapons are what really get to me when you compare them to previous mh titles. Fuck these weapons.

I hope g-rank will fix this. As you said, they change little by little as their rarity increases, so maybe g-rank rarities will start looking drastically different.

They have to make every weapon of rarity 3 and above look unique, at least.
G-rank new weapons won't be enough. I don't like the idea of having the last rank of weapons being the only ones that all look unique.

I'll rephrase it:
They keep the same template and only change it once you hit rarity 4 or 5. Meaning it's only one change in looks, like changing the shape of a blade at the end of a GL, or changing the iron template's shield by warping it a bit.

In mh4u, weapons in a specific upgrade path would accumulate a few details every single upgrade. In mhw the weapons' upgrade path change only once in their looks.

I doubt they will change the models anymore, so g-rank is the only hope for this installment.

working as intended

...

It doesn't get better. You get more and more handholding shit and the usual things that make the high rank something of a challenge are neutered.

Remember not spawning at camp? lol just fast travel.

not gonna argue that. He was pretty piss easy.

bruh, the fucking environment actively goes after the monster.

Watch this

There are probably a ton more. I deliberately played as sloppy as possible but still won under 20 minutes.

Thinking of playing a monhun game for the first time but don't have any consoles or handhelds. Can emulate pretty well but don't know which game I should try first. Is there a recommended starting point or a particular game that doesn't have the horrible grind I keep hearing about or emulates best?

FU and p3rd emulate perfectly on PPSSPP.
But you can't escape the grind.

MHFU emulates well but is all grind. P3rd emulates well too.

Play FU if you wanna git gud through trial and adversity due to some rough elements like Plessy's hitboxes, play P3rd if you want an easier game to lube you up for FU and comfy farms.

Wrong series man.

Updated ID: 3eKPTLRm43Rc

The original Monster Hunter on the PS2. You're going to enjoy the suffering whether you want to or not.
I sometimes can't believe how far the series has come, for better or for worse. Especially with how it started off.

The analog stick for attack was fucking horrible. I am kind of surprised that MH ever got sequel. Though freedom/portable 1 fixed that.

I remember thinking this was very cool and that the PSP games using button combos sucked.. now I can't imagine the series going back. It just wouldn't work.

Never played it

so what level of playing together can monster hunter world give to me and my friend when they get it as well.
can we like both progress at the same time or do we take turns on progression

If you play at the same time, you progress at the same time.

You can join in on eachother's missions and play through the story together.. Only problem is capcom fucked up and made it so you can't join certain story missions because they come with a couple attached cutscenes that must be viewed before anyone is allowed to join you on that mission.

Man, the gathering hub is comfy as fugg. I wish it was necessary to use for online session play.
Gonna do a screenshot dump.

So long as you two are the same hunter rank, you should find common ground on objectives.

Now take screenshot of those panties.

I hate that you can't see other players running around Astera. It's such a waste of one of the better hub towns in the MH series.

I kind of wish that the gathering hub included minigames or something. I don't really know what they'd be, but they would just be short 1-minute multplayer games that hunters could do in between quests when there's downtime. It'd almost be like a fun bit of PvP in a way and would add another nice communal aspect to the guild hall. Maybe a drinking game for the hunters' that's just a button-masher, but you'd have to be careful not to drink to fast or your hunter would get fucked up and fall over. Give the winner a small bonus like an emblem next to their name.

I played the one on the Wiiu and emulated monster hunter portable 3rd. I settled on the hunting horn because I like beating the shit out of dinosaurs with a bagpipe but I'm thinking of trying a lance, maybe gunlance. Any tips for lancer beginners? Is it more of a waiting game because I can block now?

Guard +/Evasion is most important skill
No.

Exactly the opposite. Lance seems slow at first sight, but once you notice how quick the side hops and back hops are, you want to move using those. Sometimes it is even faster to turn 180 degrees and back hop towards enemy than sheathe your weapon.
your basic combo is poke x 3, side hop, repeat.
Then there are other moves like dash. It isn't that great by itself, except for chasing. Of course quick hits deal elemental damage fast, but the final poke is where it is at. In 4th gen and onwards you can even jump with the dash and cause mount.
Lance shield is the strongest shield (with gunlance) in the game, but you aren't supposed to hide behind it. Just use counter whenever monster is doing counterable attack (90% of moves in the game + roars).
Skills to consider after damage skills: evasion, block, guard up.
Guard up is for beam attacks, block makes you lose less stamina for blocking and evasion makes life easier since hops are so fast that the iframes can cover a lot of the hop (in 4u evasion +3 makes you completely invulnerable during hops).

Well those are the basics.

Lance has the best stats for guarding and turtling, but your ideal method of dishing out damage is to set yourself up for really effective lance charges where you tear across the monster while going sanic fast.

So with the EA microtransaction fiasco and with MHW coming out to the masses do you think games will finally start taking notes on giving players fun gameplay+objectives/items/goals that are all included in the final version of the game that can/need to be accomplished through playing the game and not just skipping it with money?

Puke induncing

I'm really surprised they didn't think of some visual method to hide the framerate issues for long distance flying enemies. I'm not sure what would work best though, fog would be shit.

Playing on a PS4Pro allows you to prioritize framerate, graphics, or resolution.

No because MHW is most likely going to transition into microtransaction with the next game or something along those lines what with capcom's stated plans of where they want to go with the series, and them charging for DLC at all in world.

My favorite moments so far are the ones where everything is obscured by inclimate weather. First time I got dropped short of camp in HR was the spire cave, emerged to a short sandstorm facing the backdrop. I'd love to see moonless night fights, torrential downpours, sandstorms, stuff that would disrupt scout flies and force you to rely on memory.
Dark Souls II, Ivory King dlc, the fucking reindeer tundra. Imagine tempered Kirin in that bullshit

if you don't play MH world by converting a psp into a dualshock 4 to clawgrip at all times you are a complete casual who single handedly killed the series

i dont know what people are complaining about weapons looking like shit or not looking different, all switch axes look different. also switch axe is just fuckin awesome

opps meant to quote

Been maining gunlance and there are different styles, but some of definitely just a base model with a bit of crap stuck to it. The thing that's pissing me off most is that some upgrades net not change at all. The blacksteel tree is the same as the steel tree, but darker. They use the same shield on entirely too many of the models and while it's not awful looking, it's fucking annoying seeing so much copy and paste design on me favorite weapon.

I don't know man I kind of like how the base weapon gets extra spikey bits until you fully upgrade it and it turns into an ultimate looking weapon. Makes the journey to that weapon meaningful. You see someone carrying a crazy looking weapon and you know what they went through to earn it.

Playing the "hunting horn", and I'm finding half of them stop being horns.
Guitar, drum, chime, bagpipe, thorax, I'm excited to see what else weird shit is at the end of the trees. Besides the first half of the bone tree the variety is great and has since gone well beyond minor cosmetics of the hilt.

It's nice when you finally take the turn 8 steps down the tree and get something fucking nuts, but being stuck with the same exact model the entire time until you get to that branch is frustrating.

From what I've seen a lot of sns are basically recolours of the same model.
Heavy bowgun, for example, look all different.

This.
It's even more frustrating when it changes once midways (when the HR kicks in) and that's it

...

In world? Because the closest I've seen is a lute or a harp. No guitars yet.

Yeah, I know. That's part of the point I was making. Removing quest markers was a side effect of a much bigger problem in the game's design, and that same problem was like a cancer on the series; it was why all of those little details were removed, and why Morrowind's near perfect fast travel system was butchered and replaced with Oblivion's. It's why the plots went from starting as a poor, hated immigrant to a hostile land, struggling to pay busfare, and going on a long series of quests to prove you are in fact the Nerevarine and the chosen one to save the province; to having you be proclaimed the Dragonborn 15 minutes after picking up the controller and suddenly having the entire nation worship the ground you walk on and constantly praise you for doing nothing. That cancer on the game's design slowly eroded the series, until we went from complex games like Morrowind, with in-depth storytelling and amazing plotlines, and so much attention to detail, and ended up with fucking Skyrim. And yet still, when you complain about this things to normalfags who love skyrim, what do they tell you? "Oh, no one's forcing you to use quest markers, you can turn them off! It's just like Morrowind!", or "No one's forcing you to use fast travel, you can just walk everywhere, just like Morrowind!". I don't want to see this happen to another series I love.

They say that but where is the lie. Skyrim is a good example of that gone wrong, but where is the lie in regards to world.

You don't have to use any of the aids. The only one that is even remotely forced down your throat is the grymylkynes vine trap and that is only if you mount in the cat's vicinity. Every single other aid can be removed or avoided without hurting the experience much. You can even locate monsters with ever touching the tracks because the monsters leave the tracks as they move around the map. Even when interacting with the tracks you are more likely to be taken to the monster before auto tracking even comes on and even still the tracking can be turned off and you can find the monster using the wildlife map just like the old games.

Once again no one is forcing you at gunpoint to play like a casual.

I don't know how you can't tell that the switchaxes also have a base design that change the entire form only once.
The rest is literally the same or the same with monster shit glued on.

This is true for most wepons from what I can tell. You only get a trully unique-looking weapon from some legianna variants or the kadachi GL (pic related)

How the fuck do I fix the bloom issue on MH3 with the latest Ishiiruka? The built-in patch does nothing and disabling the EFB thing breaks everything else.
My fucking retinas are getting seared here

So you can turn off the monsters attacking each other, the guidebugs, all the environmental shit, the terrible armor system, and the slinger? Can you also set the difficulty to "multiplayer" level even when you're doing quests solo?

don't shit on the slinger, that's a streamlining effect i can fully accept from the old terrible throwing system for dung and flash bombs

The only one I'm outright shitting on is the armor system, I'm just pointing out that "you don't have to use any of the new shit and can play it exactly like a Monster Hunter game" is even more ludicrous an argument here than it was in Gen/XX

Okay hotshot, tell me how I can gauge if I'm hitting weakspots without using damage numbers since blood splatter is replaced with dust so I can't judge if I'm hitting a weakspot by the size of the blood effect?

also meant for

The sound effect and animation is different. Hits on weakpoints give obvious tells in your attack animation. It's practically the same as the bloodsplatter.

You don't ever have to use the guide bugs. You can avoid picking up tracks and find the monster simply by following them. Some monsters rarely ever roam the environment like Mudsioth and Lavasioth so the first time you hunt them you are given almost zero clues and have to do it yourself. You can turn off the tracking my clicking on the monster's icon on the wildlife map.

I can count on both hands the amount of times I've seen a turf war play. It almost never happens. You have to bring the monster to the next monster on the food chain's nesting area for them to even do it which isn't worth the effort 90% of the time. At most two monsters will meet and trade one or two blows then they will either gang up on you are one will fuck off.

I got a question about helms
in 4U should i be going for the gunner type or the blade master type of helm
Ive usually just been going for the one that has the better skillpoint load

But can you turn them off entirely? Even without player input they highlight shit constantly and as you pointed out they auto lock on to the monster and require you to manually shut it off every single time.

They still attack each other outside of the special animation though, and you don't have to "bring them together" they wander in on each other just fine.

The ganging up is what barely happens, and even then quickly shifts back to them bashing on each other until one of them fucks off. It also tends to result in one or both monsters dropping shinies.

Blademaster gives better defense, Gunner gives better elemental resistance. Generally, Skill points are what you want to consider more heavily, but if those are equal, I'd say go for Blademaster over Gunner since normal defense tends to be more important than element, since you can eat to remove an elemental weakness for any particular quest.

The odds of that happening consistently are almost zero. I have never seen monsters attack each other more than a couple of times before turning on you. The only monster that will consistently turf war every single time is Odogaron because he's a psychopath.

Just because it doesn’t happen to you often doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen.

It's not just the turf war special animation though, they will attack each other normally even outside of that.

I watched an Odogaron fight a Bazelgeuse and a Legiana at the same time and he was winning. He's the craziest fucker and I love him. His claws have claws for fuck's sake.

Does that actually do damage? I haven't been able to tell. Turf wars have damage numbers pop up, but I haven't noticed any outside of that.

I got a feeling you never actually played the game and only based your opinion on second hand experience. Turf war never go longer than 10 second, they trade blow once and then the weaker monster run away. Even then, the chances of triggering turf war are very slim, the only consistent turf war is between Barroth and Jyoratodus because there only 1 place with mud in the entire map and their nest and next to each other. In my 50 hours of gameplay, I never triggered anjanath and rathalos turf war, unless you manually bait it to rathalos nest

Because I haven't touched any other weapon type. Sue me

They certainly do something. I find yuka and barroth parts all the time where their paths have crossed. They don't look any worse for wear by the time I get to either, but still something got broken.

Yea, I've had the bageljew break a few monster parts with his carpet bombing runs.

Hard Quests is just a cluster fuck of bosses following your target
Why

It definitely creates shinies and can break parts, I'm just not sure if it does actual damage numbers or not.

definitely the best new face

That was meant more for the switch axe poster.
But even so, what weapon type has more than just 1-3 unique designs? Horn? (assuming from pic)

Bring them back

Just stack attack up on parts for low rank.

I've got a feeling you can't read, since as I keep saying, it's not just the turf war special animation, they also attack each other outside of that using their normal attack animations.

This should be funny but its depressing because its true. Its either a vocal minority MH fans or trendies that never played the series before (same folk that say they played Final Fantasy VI and Demon's Souls) that act like that as before MHW only 12 people in the West actually played the series.
I mean where are all these Monster Hunter "Vets" actually coming from?

I started a new game. Rate my gril.

there are some aspects i can sympathize with, lower monster count is a huge bummer and the looming sword of capcom waiting to either nickel and dime the game sucks. Complaining about QoL changes is maddening and I think some people are forgetting how bloated some of the last titles were becoming, and that making a game on a brand new engine costs content.
Ideally that content will be brought in through downloads in the form of more monsters and area preferably for FREE.

also i forgot to mention BRING BACK SNOW AREAS, FUCK. As much as I'm genuinely enjoying this game my heart fucking sank when i saw hot drinks weren't in the craft list

There is speculation they are adding new mass to the game. They better add a comfy tundra map, or a tropical island map. There is a chain of iislands that would be perfect for it.

As for monsters I want

Peco
Zinogre
Lagombi
Zamtrios
Tetsu
Kecha
Najarala
Narga
White fatalis
Bullfango
Plesioth with the stupid hitbox back for keks
Gravios
Serigios
Nerscylla.

Bring back every monster. Fuck.

Looks like marilyn manson

Which ones though? Because I've heard a lot of people defending shit like the new armor system and such as "QoL"

In what sense?

Then don't make a brand new engine. There was no need for it.

Pretty sure its made on Dragon's Dogma's engine, which is relatively new

Hunting it to this theme never fails to get me rock fucking solid.

I respectfully request you go fuck yourself.

We deserved Monster Hunter in HD MTframework after AN ACTUAL DECADE OF BEING STUCK ON HANDHOLD BING BING WAHOO MACHINES.

The only reason I ever bought that piece of shit was for Monster Hunter and the struggle of getting people I like to even look at it is something I never ever want to go back to. Fuck the PSP, fuck the 3ds, and fuck you.

I want every Monster Hunter ever made on PS4/PC.

stuff like every weapon having special style and having to upgrade and unlock those, palico collecting, traveling to other zones just to meld, the frenzy status which most of the time just applied to fighting gore.

okay it's not really "brand new" but i'm more referring to how the team has to make new assets and models instead of building off the old ones.
good luck pushing a console monster hunter with 3ds framework when trying to sell big numbers, would never fly. I'd bank we'll see 2-3 releases of new Worlds before we either get the freedom unite of world, or it completely tanks out

bad phrasing on my part, i was meaning to refer to creating new monster models and other assets

Like I said, at most they trade 1 blow and then fuck off. They dont do a full on brawl until one of them dies

I want capcom to add dragons dogma monster into this. the drakes with their moves, the chimera with its moveset that cause poison, thunder and the griffin.

Tbh I'd just like to fight something about the size of a condemned Gorecyclops

How are the waifus in World, if there are any?

90% of the female NPC's that are not in the main story are great.

Are the ones in the main story potato or ham?

I'd smash the third fleet master even if she has weird feet and a jew nose

I want to fight gear rex in an actual MH game, world preferably.

The only women that arent waifus is the old explorer lady and the handler, the rest of the girls are decent but the ginger dudes handler is the fucking bomb. I would impregnate her within a moments notice with or without her consent if I could. Why couldnt she be our handler instead of the jew girl?

critical draw applies to hammer charges as well correct? assuming you unsheath into a charge. the diablos HR set has points in slugger and critical draw and might be the next one i make (currently using zorah cuz it looks cool). or should i wait to see what black diablos stuff looks like

Pervert! Don't take pictures of a young hunters pantsu!

Forgot about her. She's fairly decent as well.

There's the handler, first fleet grandma, third-fleet master, serious handler and the provisions manager. The handler has been talked but here's a quick summary: her face and the way it moves aren't great, she's curious to the point she's reckless with not much ability to back it up. Other than that she's fairly bland with the only trait of hers being that she likes to eat. Capcom pushed her which doesn't help things.
Grandma is a bit more self-explanatory. Besides her age she kinda looks like a dude.
Third-fleet master looks a bit strange but she has a personality that you might like.
Serious handler should've been your actual companion.
Provisions manager has the haircut character designers have been using if they want a brown woman in their game but an afro is to mainstream for them. She looks nice besides that. Not much to say about her really.

Most of the other NPCs have a good-looking body and face and are usually nice to you. Most of them would've been a better partner than the one we got.

>tfw everyone shits on the Handler, but I think she's kinda cute.

They fight for a while, at least in my experience.

Well, waifus aside I'd like to give World a shot but I don't have a PS4. I'm waiting on KHIII. Also I know the PC port will have Denuvo. Think they'll have G-rank update by then?

Also I prefer to be an axeman. How do switch axe and charge blade play?

Sometimes they'll take a swing and fuck off and sometimes they'll sit and duke it out for a little while. I had a tempered rathian investigation that had a bazel and pink rathian on it, it would occasionally turn into a free for all of explosions and roars with monsters being knocked off their feet every few seconds.

ugh, it's so casual that monsters actually attack each other! every fight should take place on a flat grey plane with just the hunter and the monster.

You'll hate them both. Switch Axe has a sword and an axe; you primarily use the sword mode, with the axe mode while the sword recharges. Axe mode is still decent though, you'll just need to use both modes, and probably use sword mode more. Axe is slower hitting, has a longer range, and walks faster; sword is faster hitting, but walks at a snails pace, uses up an energy meter to attack, and dulls twice as fast. XX introduced an art that brought axe mode to par with sword mode; it's the most fun SA has ever been, and it's a shame it'll never be brought back.
Charge Blade, on the other hand, spends almost all its time in Sword and Shield mode. You'll probably only switch into axe mode mid-combo, do an attack or two with the axe, then switch back into SnS mode at the end, which is where the majority of your time is spent.

Lance user here, any new moves or noticeable changes for it?

She's the handler's grandmother, or so I understood from the JP VA, subtitles hint nothing at this

not really, they roar at each other, do some hit then fuck off

Capcom has not been afraid to jew it up with World so i wouldn't be surprised if it's a paid expansion which comes out a few months after the PC release.
In addition to what the other user said, there are some other weapons that get upgrades to make them look like axes. The greatsword, hammer and dual blades to name a few. So at the very least you can play pretend if you don't like the actual axe options in-game.

I believe the handler says something about her grandmother existing in the new world early on. It's a throwaway line though and doesn't really have any significance in the story except that they hug once.

as an avid swaxe player, its sharpness runs out fast, but axe mode gives you mobility but its swings are slower. its overhead attack is powerful and can reach high tails and flying enemies and ca be chained to sword mode for massive damage. sword mode is faster but you can using for so long, razor sharp skill allows me to keep my sharpness from running out. thats me if you wanna get an idea

meant for you>>14286378

rewatch the Odogaron cutscene and check the noses

Why did that make me laugh so hard?

Is it really pretend if that is what I always wanted from an axe in Monster Hunter? They should just change Great Sword to great axe and call it a day. I never played more great sword than I have in world because there are so many neat options like that. It's literally all I ever wanted from the weapons in MonHun is a lot of looks from different weapons. My favorite weapon of all time is the Moran Longsword from 4u because it looks like a spear.

Sage for double posting.

odogaron is a cool guy
he hates flying niggers as much as I do

Are there many weapons like this in World? In previous games I stuck to the Chain Longsword because it was dumb as fuck, but it was also really dope because it'd rev up everytime you swing. Same with the drill hammer; the booster on the end of it was amazing.

lol

There's not that many weapons with a gimmicky appearance. Most of the ones that are present are from previous games like the chain dual blades or the Daora weapons. The weapons you mentioned are not present, neither are some really iconic hammers like the revolver hammer and the various monster-head hammers.
Some of the monsters you meet early on have absolutely boring weapon designs like Tzi-Tzi, Tobi and Jagras. Then there's the ones with actual design like Legiana and Anjanath. Paolumu falls in this weird category where it's weapons are just fur on the base bone or steel weapon model but it's made up entirely of it's fluffy looking fur and heart patterns which make it stand out a lot more.
They really need to improve on this when the G-rank thing comes out.

the level 3 zorah set bonus, status crit, explicitly states blast is a status now.

I see. That's a bit disappointing, but free dlc weapons have been added in past games so I guess there's some hope.

hillarious when you consider capcom has already had "best hunter in japan" events before and they are light hearted simple events and not the stadiums filled with virgins events lime other esports.

People who pretend this is new are not long time fans of monster hunter but obvious shitposters who do not belong here. Monster Hunter sowed runs have been a thing as long as there has been arena quests, and top speed runners in Japan are like mini celebrities. Implying I wouldn't watch the fuck out of competitive monster hunter.

The chainsaws are back? Who drops them?

pretty sure that was a change added in tri.

i dont need them right away but first i would like to see the insectoid bosses come back, lagi narga and brachy, gore and shaggy, the fated four (at least fucking gammoth please), zamitros and the crabs. in that order.

It's only the dual blades, sadly. The longsword one is not in right now. It's the last 2 upgrades in the "Ice element" tree. It's mostly Legiana drops.

its such a shame how the other areas arent as well designed as the ancient forest. you can tell that was their first thing they worked on and its fucking amazing. the other places are cool but they feel like previous monster hunter areas unlike the ancient forest with its many shortcuts and shit like using the flying monsters to give you a lift to the top.

Coral Highlands is nice. So is the rotten vale. The only map that genuinely sucks ass is Wildspire waste. There is absolutely nothing memorable about it. This game needs just one more map to make the variety not feel utterly banal.

make whatever until you can get the legiana set bonus with skills you want for the wepon you use, and then do the same for high rank and then start worrying about sets.

I like the underground zone and the wooded area of it

yeah, because that's the first time in the series this shit happens.

bagel can be a cool guy sometimes

The fuck is wrong with you?

What? The only thing that sounds similar to that were the Hunting Skills in XX, which admittedly were cancer, but hardly part of the main series.

This was shit, agreed. Should've just brought back Cha-Cha and Kayamba.

What?

That was a stupid gimmick, but hardly what I'd call bloat.

Right, and if they stuck with the old stuff instead of having to remake it in the new engine, you could have that plus new stuff. The new engine was entirely unnecessary.

Then don't. Keep it on the handhelds.

Shit, I should go dig up my old guidebook for 2G and see what it says.

the horror

All of the best games were on handheld because that's where the market was. A large part of the saturation of AAA trash is because all of the good Dev's built their games for handheld. And one other thing. Fuck off Makoto

Does anybody else think that Bazelgeuse's sountrack fits him perfectly and make for one of the more intense fights in the game?
When this plays while he's carpet bombing I get geusebumps.

Even his fucking roar sounds like a bombing alarm.

I worked so hard for nothing.
Here's the hooktube instead.

hooktube.com/TRV48bV6T-Y?t=82

Can't embed because the link has a specific time coordinate.

That's cute, but make way for the real king.
That track does sound intense though, way better than most other stuff I've heard in World from looking up online. Teostra's theme for example lacks the raw power and emotion the original had, it doesn't feel like you're fighting the elements anymore when you hear it.

They really dropped the ball on the soundtrack. It's piss weak. Proof if a hero sounds melancholic which fits the theme of the fight its played in but we deserved a better version. What really gets me is there is no opening movie. I love the opening movies in these games. Especially 4us

I just got three wyvern gems off a single Diablos expedition. I'm pretty scared for my life at the moment.

It sounds fucking regal. Which fits, because all his gear is lion themed.

The question is: do you need/want these gems? if not the desire sensor simply haven't activated and you got normal drops.
That's why you need to rewire your brain to never want anything while playing monster hunter, that way you can get everything you don't want really easy.

I don't even tell my friends what I need over the mic because I'm paranoid that MH uses the mics to pick up on what you need.

Has anyone out there got an A rank on that pukie/kula challenge in the arena yet? I haven't broke 5mins yes and any videos i see online are done with 2 players.

fuck off with that attitude, being able to play it outside of the 3ds is fantastic. I can actually connect to friends without having to jump through nintendos garbage networking hoops and don't have to camera control with the claw or the nipple.

Okay so I've started on FU and is there really a fucking 10 hour long tutorial? Holy shit fams. Maybe I was expecting shadow of the colossus where you fight monsters but holy fuck.

Thats pretty standard for MH

Maybe they decided the entire game should be a movie.

I mean, I definitely can put them to use. The fucking second rank windproof charm needs 2. Even max level weapons only ever take one.

The tutorial isn't that long, and I'm pretty sure it's entirely optional.

Pretty much yeah.

Okay so I've done all but the tongues quest in the first star missions and I'm not sure what's going on with this dragon. Every time it is seen in an area my character stops moving to shit herself real quick which, twice now, has resulted in me getting killed. All of my attacks bounce off it so I'm guessing I need to avoid and kill the woolly mammoths instead but holy shit why does it lock me up when I'm obviously running past it?

If you're spotted by a large monster when you don't have your weapon out you get frozen in fear for a moment. And yeah, you're not supposed to fight Tigrex yet - it's possible, but you'd need much better gear to do it in 20 minutes, so just get the tongues and get the fuck out.

but it won't let me sprint with my hammer if I have it out.

Just explaining how the mechanic works. If you need, you can come out with it unsheathed, then when the music starts to indicate you've been spotted, sheath it and make a break for it.

Usually, a monster also takes a little moment when it notices you. Unless you're right next to it when your character does the huddle in fear animation, you should have enough time to get out of the way before it hits you. Do your football dive if you have to.

All of that sounds rather fun.

It is

Glad to hear it.

Can anyone hook me up with that USJ quest?

Still pissed that they tease us with serious handler and yet all we get is down syndrome cunt.

what gives

The real question is this.

What's the better shootan, Light Bowgun, Heavy Bowgun or Bow?

Heavy bowgun, it has carpet bombs, heavy machine gun mode, exploding piercing sniper mode, and fuck your shit close range wyvern rounds
hunt me fgt

I only tried HBG in beta but using the TACTICOOL PRONE shot was satisfying as fuck

It's honestly the better mode shot I think since you can get it off in a second and go back to piling paralyze/sleep or slicing rounds back on.

If you land it head to tail or wing to wing you have a huge chance for knockdown, you can just then pile on artillery or traps and you're fucking golden. Though I think the heavy machinegun mode has high stun.

I like the bow, but dislike how much stamina it can drain when trying to shoot and dodge, really need to start stocking up on the Dash Juice.

I need a monhun community that isn't policed harder than a HOA where I don't have to worry about being banned for hurting people's fee-fees or for making """inflammatory comments"""

And I don't mean a fucking message board. Is there an IRC or groupchat or something to join?

The ones with a hidden element count I think.
So barroth and Diablos hammer, for example, would work well with that.

Use this thread. These threads are all we have. I am not going to make a disagreement for anything 8ch related, ever. Neither should anybody else.

We could make some kind of ps4 community maybe. That's something I see next to the friends section of the top bar on the ps4 home menu. No idea how it works and I don't want anything that can be logged anyways.

We got a gathering hub gathering?

I use the gathering hub every time now before going out to hunt a nd so should everyone else.

Updated ID: 7cYGT4TH4LzT

that's good to know, i have the last barroth hammer on the tree right now too and used an activator charm thinking that hidden elements would negate the effect, now i can change that out since i wasn't getting nearly as many paralyzes with it as the girros hammer

I can finally show my character in public again, after grinding materiel for useful armor that doesn't look like someone lashed babyback ribs to metal plates.
HR has not been kind to me on rng, but the dark times are over.

There are other ways. There's IRC, Tox, Teamspeak, Mumble, Ventrillo, and a shitton of open source alternatives to all of those as well.

I don't care what, where, or how, just pick something that isn't an image board and stick to it.

Disclaimer: I don't actually know because I have not tested it. It could very well mean that non-elemental damage is also things like paralyze, sleep, stun, blast, maybe even physical.

I know there are other ways, it's just I don't want to see a chatroom for /mhg/ that later kills the threads from lack of activity.
But most of all, I really fucking hate switching out my keyboard from mhw chat, back to thread, and now also another chat aside from session chat.

I guess if it's a chat specifically for mhw hunters that are offline then it'd be okay for coordination. I dunno dude, maybe you could make one. I'd join if it's for that.

Also,

These threads are pretty much it. They're shitty at the moment, but most of the time they're the best way to do multiplayer hunting.

I'm in the damn lobby, nobody is saying anything and my requests for a squad invite have fallen on deaf ears.

Well there's why no one here actually plays World, it's purely the shills trying to pretend we like it, like OP

Okay but I like World. Where do I go to play it with other people?

You are a sad little man if you think world is a bad game. If you liked 4u you will like world. World is probably the most fun I have ever had in high rank and I have been playing since F2. The super late game content is very difficult. High Rank Kirin can one shot you in fully upgraded nergigante gear and level 3 health boost, and that is not even tempered Kirin who I have yet to even see 150 hours into the game so far. G rank is likely going to be much more difficult, and I can't wait. If Monster Hunter.

I have been playing with Eighth Fleet since the game launched and it has been nothing but fun. This game definitely sits along side 4U as one of the best games in the series. These grapes are not sour foxboy.

Everyone is probably asleep my dude try again tomorrow. Don't get frustrated man. Rokknei is the guy you want to talk to I believe.

Well some of you fuckboys better start being awake this late because I work evenings and these are the hours I keep.

my psn is meowreka

...

I got World Day 1 and just now entered High Rank.

Are any of the Zorah weapons decent?
Pic related
One of those is reserved for my handicraft charm.

Didn't I already invite you days ago?

Not even the costume saves her.

You should get the armor set+weapon. They are worth it for going into HR.

It's blast damage which is basically a chance to do a set damage for critical: I don't know if it activates on critical or what but it's infrequent enough that it feels like a critical. You get 120 extra damage from the GL.

DELET THAT

fucking radial menu. Does it ever save the custom settings?
Also fuck Bezelgeuse that B-52 flying fuck you right in the wazoo blast using POS.

It's not just me? The item bar won't save either, it's fucking nonsense.

Too many times he's turned a simple farming run into a 'Nam flashback. Getting real tired of him showing up in EVERY map.

Select an item set (i.e- Item set 1) > customize radial menu to your liking > go back to items sets > save/overwrite over the item set(s) you selected > choose the item set you saved on and it should have saved the radial settings.

I was hoping for a specific weapon recommendation. They just seem a bit iffy with only green sharpness and -20% affinity so i don't know if they're even worth the effort.
I'm HR 46 and i've made both the alpha and beta versions of the Zorah set. I'm wearing a mix of both Xeno sets at the moment because i like how it looks and Flinch-free is nice for MP.

Blast works like any other non-elemental status in MonHun. Every time you hit the monster you apply status damage to it. After that reaches a certain threshold the effect triggers with the monster getting para'd, poisoned, or in blasts case, exploding. There is no chance involved. The monster gets more resistant to the particular status every subsequent trigger making it's threshold larger. Blasts usefulness doesn't solely lie with the damage it does, although that's nice too. A blast explosion often staggers the monster and it's able to do a quick burst of localised damage which is quite useful for breaking parts. Back in the slime days, it was able to stunlock the monster, like what slicing ammo does now, because the threshold build-up was way too low.

They're worth the effort on the basis that most of the magdaros weapons have unique designs to them. (some of them, not all)
Other than that, you could ignore it if the Bazel weapons are available in your weapon tree. They have better affinity anyways.

Even worse when that fucker zones in and hovers above you just as the music changes. Then theres being hit by Uragaan and Azure fuckface due to roar locking while everything explodes.

YES! You glorious konchu kissing SOB this actually works.

Anyone want to do HR Kirin?

Also, new thread
