Character Creation

It's extremely hard because Dark Souls uses Facegen. As in, TES IV Oblivion Facegen, if somewhat updated in texturing and maybe number of parameters. Personally, I had luck making moderately okay faces- in Bloodborne, particularly- by way of fucking up the first time around and making an awful potato in my attempt at sliderfu, then looking up the usual suspects of microchin triangle face waifus- the Doll as rendered by some gook specifically- and then averaged the values between my potato abortion and the triangleface banshee, occasionally using my own discretion in saying this or that change didn't look quite right, or that I should only go 50% of the way to the new value, so on.

The end result had moderately balanced and not entirely horrible facial features, that looked like it could stand amongst NPC faces and not look too out of place. Value 1 plus Value 2 divided by 2, it was that simple, although I admittedly got lucky to have the first run work and not have to get too fiddly doing second runs. It's also nice for cheating out a unique face in games with multiple already decent-looking presets. Take your ayy lmao and average its values with some potatoey joke face, since you're more in triangle waifu territory at the moment, and if it doesn't come out looking human enough for you, re-average the values with one of the original previous faces or with a new face entirely. This is very tedious in terms of entry & calculator use, but is a lot easier than learning to properly do slider fu freeform.

DaS character creation is a total pain to work with and even if you get something decent out of it the bad textures will still make it look poor under certain lighting.

I've had this issue before. I spend an hour or so fixing up my char, and then I look nothing like I did before. It annoys the ever loving shit out of me. The only creation character worse than DaS3 for this that i've seen is the mass effect series.

Are you sure? In 2, whenever I wanted to make a basic change to a part of the mouth, the entire nose of my character shot out like a kikess'.

2 was the easiest, but that doesn't mean it is all that easy. There's always something off about the final product, though. It just considerably less pronounced in 2 than the others.

Demon's Souls

One thing I'll give Demon's Souls' character creator is that the randomly generated faces didn't look too bad. Half the time I ran with a supermodel face that the game gave me.

I always have a character design in mind (making my waifu or another 2hu cosplay build), but it's hard to make the face look right, especially when converting a 2D face to a 3D model.

On topic, 7 days to die has a stronger character creator than is typical for the genre(survival crafting sandbox). It even allows a pretty good degree of customization of the body type but it's face customization isn't anything to write home about if you want to make waifus which is what I suspect this thread is really about.

I went back into DS2 to at least try to make a qt. You wouldn't fucking believe the amount of grinding I did just to get the fucking Desert sorceress top. I maxed out the soul memory on 4 of them before I got it. This game started off terribly and rightfully got shat on by everyone. I expected Capcom to do what they always do when a game of theirs bombs - throw a shitfit, blame everyone else and go mope in a corner - but they stuck with it and kept adding content (I think it's at season 3) and apparently it's legitimately good now. It also has OP Warrior which makes me want to play it because that was the class I wanted to play in the original, innocently unaware of how bad it was.
