Try to watch it with subtitles on. The ideology he refers to is capitalist ideology, that which influences consumer demand and the desires and wishes of people, while also legitimizing the status quo and spreading ideas that enforce capitalist hegemony further. Pure ideology is when you encounter a particular ideological person, who builds their whole argument and world view on capitalist ideology, being unable to refer to anything outside of its scope.

You often encounter it with deeply uneducated people talking about socialism, only knowing what they have been told about it from their capitalist ideological framework, unable to think outside of it, e.g.:

"Socialism does not work. People who want socialism are just lazy and want free shit and if we had socialism nobody would go to work anymore – it's human nature to be greedy, as we can see with the success of the capitalist system."

The glasses metaphor in particular made me think, but I feel I've just autismally taken a demonstration and transposed it to the point where ideology could be a synonym for state of mind.

I suppose layers of ideology might be another way. Like when someone says government overspending caused 1970s inflation and Reagan/Thatcher fixed it, that's both pure ideology in a wide capitalist sense, but also specific to current neoliberal capitalism, and you can break free from that if you appropriately contextualise the 1970s, but you still remain trapped by the overarching capitalist idea, you've just taken a different variation on it.
