I want Akiba Strip era Xseed back… This is the game that had the Pitter feeds, which had most of its 2ch terminology changed into equivalent 4ch terms, and it flowed just great. The guy that used extremely verbose speech in JP was basically the same in english, with 'tipping fedora' and 'm'lady' like traits. The JP 'wwwwww' was appropriately translated as 'lololololol'. This is good localization.
The whole "trap" debacle came from this part of the game, and Xseed kept their ground despite all the SJWs crying out. They kept the term and defended its use.
(for reference, AS localized ver. has the option to play with JP text - if you check the relevant pitter feed, the equivalent for trap was "okama" IIRC).

With all this garbage about Nintendo censorship, it boggles my mind how Xenoblade 2 even came out the way it has. Akiba's Trip 2 was NISA unless they outsourced the translation. Which, I agree it's competently executed as a localization without adding game-breaking glitches or anything stupid like that, but that's totally inappropriate for a game that's designed to portray Akihabara (one with people beating and stripping each other with otaku junk but still). It should be exposing people to their culture not ours. It also gets heavy on the memes almost as badly as some of the Neptunia games, most egregiously in the interaction choices.

In fairness they give you the option to play the game in either English or Japanese, text and voice. Which is good because the English voice work is a mixed bag too.

I did laugh when I found both English and Japanese Rin scream "Hentai! Hentai! Hentai!" on getting stripped. That's just silly.

Too much work. Plus there's so much nuance, and a completely different way of structuring sentinces. I likely wouldn't understand anything anyway.

There is a reason why these SJWs are in entertainment and especially in the translation business when it comes to games, so it can go through them and they can filter whatever they want. The reason they do this is because it is very hard as of now (Who knows about the future) to infiltrate Japanese games because they don't give a fuck about Western sensibilities. Their games while they do want people and audiences outside of Japan to enjoy and purchase it are mainly designed for a Japanese audience in mind.
