I could probably get a 3DS, issue is that I have to find one where I can pirate vidya.
You own a boutique so you buy clothes in bulk and then when girls walk in they ask for a particular style or theme and you present them an outfit. If they like it, they'll buy it.
You don't set prices or anything of that nature.
Later games also let you do the same at a hairstyling place and a makeup place, with some girls asking for a full makeover starting at your boutique and asking you to meet them at the respective shops for the other things.
You can also style your own character and (depending on the game) your in-shop employee to act as a walking billboard for your store.

Funny I actually have seen CFW break the 3D on Gateway. It was fixable by closing and reopening the 3DS, and on the modern day hacks it's a non-issue.

Avoid Girl's Mode 3, it's ugly and fucked up in terms of presentation.
Girl's Mode 4 fixed the art direction and isn't terrible from what I've played.
There is also Girl's Fashion Shoot which was made before most of these, it's very barebones but if all you want is dress up then there you go.

Recettear is an item shop game I'm sure you're familiar with. Another lesser known one is Hometown Story. The art is shit but holds some charm; worth a pirate.
I can't speak for the majority of Atelier games (haven't played them all) but Ayesha and Annie were great. Resource management with time limits, the former more generous with time.
