Dark Souls Remastered

Putting aside all of the shitposting over the years, Dark Souls is a game that most of us enjoyed and put a lot of time into.

How do you think QLOC will change it? I don't know anything about what changes they make to their ports/remasters, so I can't say if they'll fuck it up or not. Here's what we know so far:

What other changes do you think will come? What changes ought they make? Alternatively, post shitty greentext about how they'll ruin everything.

make a meta thread or something to bitch about the mods and porn dumps being banned. even though they've been banned since 2014

Well, mod fuckery aside,i look forward to taking on biggie smalls with some friends

The only thing remotely interesting about this Remaster is the fact that their is going to be a version on handheld. Otherwise, Dark Souls did not need to be "Remastered" and this new version (which is not being made by Fromsoft) is only likely going to fuck everything up.

Hot fucking damn mark you fuck. I didn't even care that much that you deleted the dump but after this you should just go oven yourself.
Now my post has no context, but I'll post it anyway. It's to whoever was 1a6c9c.
Yeah, it makes for a unique experience. However, the number of people invading can be a problem, and I know one answer is to just git gud but at the same time you still want an enjoyable experience and not just a dick up your ass. I remember the very first time I got invaded, it was by a hacker. He didn't even do anything funny to make it worth my while, either. To me, the ideal invasion experience is still an "OH FUCK" one, but one where the invader has to be smart and think of an ambush spot, and using minions to make everything an uphill battle instead of just bum-rushing the host for rape and plunder. My most enjoyable invasion experiences have been where the invader focused on doing that, whether I won or lost.

it honestly needs an overall balance to make dark magic and WotG builds less broken in pvp. not even much just a gentle nerf, because honestly in the latter months playing pvp the variety in builds got so low because those two are so so so much easier to wreck with in the context of a 1v1 honorduel.

I probably would've been pretty interested in 2022 or so. Now, I'm still interested to see what comes of it, but I'm not that excited to play it.
Has there ever been a remaster where they made gameplay changes? I thought gameplay would get left alone.
There's plenty to be fixed, but it's a bad rabbit hole to go down. They'd undoubtedly fuck up other things in the process and it's probably best to leave it as it was.

Agreed, which is why Sen's Fortress and the Silver Knight archers were the best places to invade. The 3v1 gets properly balanced out by the enemies in those situations.

No PC port confirmed?

Dark wood grain ring was an excellent counter to most magic. My builds always included it once the meta started to settle.
It's an annoying ring to fight against, but it was my only good way of dealing with magic. Even the crest shield got wrecked by stronger spells.

PC's confirmed. Bullshit titles everywhere like "coming to Switch!" and "Sony presents", it's all bullshit.

PC is confirmed

So is there an official saying what will be changed and has it all been vague? I haven't been keeping up.

It's been pretty vague. What's known is in OP, plus 60fps and the obvious graphical overhaul.

Here's the doujin in question that got deleted because of Cakejew

I just wanna punish sinners in the name of purest girl again. 3 ruined best covenant.

...

Nice, I keep seeing videos here and there saying, PS4, Xbone and NSw as if it was the full platform lineup.

I heard combat would stay the same, wouldn't mind Riposte and Backstab being changed to the way they work in newer games, as long as parry doesn't get fucked up like in DS2.

Well it's basically confirmed on everything, sad thing is that people who owned the original port won't get an upgraded version. Although I would like to see cloud saves implemented on the PC version.

Make a meta thread for it, don't ruin the DaS thread because you don't know how to read the rules.

I had the same problem with DMC4 and DMC4SE.

Truly a king among men, thanks user

Shouldn't everyone who owned the first get the remaster if the PC players get it? Then the remaster would bring in almost no revenue at all.

Didn't DMC4SE have some sort of small discount?

Original port won't get an upgraded version huh, that's nice
well they won't be getting my fucking money then.

NOPE, none at all.

Well of course not, but I do think there should be a small discount of sorts for those who owned the original.

Huh, well that's just a crock of bullshit. Although it's to be expected knowing Capcom.

I wouldn't be against that, but I doubt they'll do it since they don't have any working system for tracking PS3/360 purchases and won't want to give a platform-exclusive discount.

This series was a mistake and should have stopped at DaS1.

For what purpose?

True, I suppose it wouldn't be fair to PS3/Xbox 360 owners. Either way I wonder if they're only gonna buff the graphics or if they'll rebalance some things.

Happens automatically when you copy/paste a post.

I agree it's greedy but whoever bought DaS2 twice deserves it.

Only good post in this gay thread, by the way.

...

It kinda does since the PC port is rubbish and is only saved through a fan fix. It will also bring the online back to life.

...

Rebalancing would be a giant can of worms. I'd like to see them try it. I'd be fine with reducing poise to hyper armor, but then the weights of the gear wouldn't be justified. And tons of other little things, but I'm sure plenty of people even disagree with something as reasonable as a poise rework.

Yeah, I kinda hope they just make the PC port not broken.

Will they fix the fucking massive unfinished portions of the late game?

Just put "ex" where "e-" is and voila.

I'm gay and a faggot, why is this a bad thing?

Very doubtful but I think remastering with a new Lost Izalith plus improved Archives and TotG would be incredible.

cause you don't get to see a cute panda

How is this fat and hairy shit appealing?

And I think the only people who would care about them being changed are a minority and pretty dumb in the first place.

here
exhentai.org/g/1108204/47e710401f/

It's okay, user, maybe some day you'll overcome crippling homosexuality. But not today.

Fuc you nigger. I want a complete game. Not some half finished slop.

But it doesn't?

Well, yes, but why not post the superior version in the first place unless he's a faggot who can't get to it himself or a double faggot who wants to share with people who can't get to it themselves.

What's the point of this now? You already posted the shit version and anyone who wants to use the better one can fix it themselves.

not him, but I will admit that it'd be a lot hotter if about 20 pounds were taken off of mildred there

...

Shit, when I said "cared" I meant the people who would be mad with the changes. I agree with you, I want to see them redone.

I dunno man, it's happened to me before.

Just take them off with your mind.

Don't get nervous, homo.

Wait a second? Did you just reply to yourself and disagree with yourself? We have IDs here you massive fucking faggot.

No, I was agreeing with myself, I just wanted to add that next line. See:

Oh, a misunderstanding. Then ignore

Samefag

Figured it out, thanks for not enabling my retardation.

...

While the initial port was poor the fan fix works great. The "Remastered" version is likely going to be garbage.I know people like to meme but Dark Souls is one of may favorite games of the last decade. I just do not trust a third party to respect the property. The graphics whoring of fedora tipping PCmustards was never something I cared about. KB/M purist have autism and should consider the helium technique.

Lurk.

You don't belong here. Don't tell me to lurk you fucking anti-vidya piece of shit.

Think ragdolls will be removed? What about AI being improved?

I've actually never heard of this company screwing up a project. I think, at worst, we get the same game, but prettier and with more ganks, which is what's being promised.

He managed to make her look so good. Truly fantastic.

I was innocent like you. Remember, at least 2 years.

Unless they fix the trash PvP(they won't,) then it simply is not worth it. I'm not even a PvPfag, but there are plenty of them, and they almost all started with DaS. The PvP is so incredibly broken that the only joy to be had with it is purely FROM how broken it is.

I maintain that invading in the right areas can make it entertaining. I've never thought much of dueling, though.
They're switching to dedicated servers. I don't know how that will affect DaS PvP.

So it has been confirmed that an outside studio is helping From with this remaster?

Will they turn the graphics on?

QLOC is doing more of it than From is.

I'm rather certain of it considering Hidetaka Miyazaki public statements when asked about remasters.
archive.is/GTteS

Looks good! Wish I had a PC or a console or friends to play it with! What the fuck am I doing here!

I didn't know if it was still considered rumor or not, I guess it'll be a basic remaster then.

what a joke, From has already ruined the franchise. No way somebody else could do a worse job than they have.

Invading has the potential to be interesting but the system is fundamentally broken. No reasonable amount of getting gud can deal with an invader with +10 armour and a +5 lightning weapon that takes 5 backstabs to kill and one or two attacks of any kind to kill you.

Not with that attitude

The reverse is also true, a 4v1 gank is an automatic loss unless the squad tries to clown around too much.
The devs will have no interest in fixing that, but they might address twinking. But since they fucked it up in 2, and then fucked it up again in 3, I seriously doubt they'll manage to do it properly now.
Literally all they have to do is assign a number value to each piece of equipment (plus its # of upgrades) and factor that in with SL to determine whom someone is able to play with/against. It'd be so easy. The values could be decided upon in a couple of afternoons.

What blows my mind is how he deletes threads to hide his shittery.
Everytime.

...

What would stop an invader from switching to better equipment after finding a victim? Or idling naked waiting to be Invaded? If you change it so that all items currently carried add to the total, then players have are punished for picking up drops. It could work if it takes the highest possible "soul power sum" of equip in inventory equipped at once instead of adding up everything carried.

This seems like the best solution to me.

...

Sorry typing from phone so it's really badly worded but you get the idea. I think we've imagined something similar in response to the idiocy that was soul memory.

idk man i just got fucked on most of my ds3 builds with the "where the fuck is everybody" mode of not upgrading at the right time or not being the appropriate level as dictated by the mob of fags that run the game.

They did it in a pretty unforgiving way, if I remember right. The guy with the +6 will never see the guy with the +7 or something like that. This one would be more forgiving.

The bigger question is why is OP spacing his text like a redditer?

OP is Mark.

Dark Souls: Prepare to Buy (Again)

I believe you

Is it just a retexture?

What do you mean by it was fucked up in 3?

Nevermind, I don't think they did, I just misunderstood the system.

For me, they'd have to fix the level ranges for PvP or I would just play the original again instead.
If you invade as a blue, you get paired with people 70 levels lower than you, and if you invade as a red, you invade people 100s of levels higher. They get caught up in the shaky morality element of it (you're the BAD guy, so you get to fight someone SL 500, and you're the GOOD guy, so you get to fuck up this SL 50) and forgot to give anyone a fight worth fighting. The only way to fight someone at your lvl is through boring honorabu duels.
Dark Souls 3 got it closer to correct, but still refused to do something symmetrical. You're still invading people 30 levels above you but only 10 below. Beats fighting people 200 levels above you.

pandering cash grab, MP was never meant to be convenient or something you could do with your friends reliably.

Yeah sure.

What the hell does "dedicated servers" mean for Dark Souls?
Do you normally play connected to a server when 'solo'?
Does your session get interrupted when invaded and you get connected to a server kind of like when crossing a Rat King zone in 2?
This is only for Battle of Stoicism, right?

Yes, just like every other Souls game. Were you under the impression you aren't connected to a server when you play DaS? Offline mode is still just as plausible as it was before.

By 6-person multiplayer, do you mean 6 player coop, or 3v3 pvp?

...

nope
this just proves that dark souls is now fully in the pimped out slut stage

namco saw the huge following this game got and now they are going to whore it out till death
i would have interest in a demon souls remaster that added in the sixth archstone, but this no way, not unless they were adding in cut content
you can already play a "remastered" version using mods

the post that saved this thread

Going by DaS3, it's 4v1 and 4v2.

Apparently this is a thing.

It means instead of peer-to-peer connection for the online (multiplayer, messages, bloodstains, ghosts), it will be hosted on an official server. Which should mean better online (no host advantage, etc), but subjects the game to eventual online death like DeS is facing at the end of Feb.

Is this what you wanted?

I still don't understand why. It was fun for a playthrough, which got me about 60 hours of playtime. But I really cannot comprehend how people played this game through several times.

I doubt you saw most of the game then, even with a master key.

Boys I think shindol might be a channer

I did the painting level, and the thing where you go back to the prison from the start of the game. I also know about the tree thing in Blight Town. And the thing that turns you into some furry abomination. What did I miss?

I unironically liked the DLC most, because of how fun the fights are, so you might have missed out on that since it's weird to access it.
The rest of the game just looks like a poor attempt at a monster hunter gameplay but less fun since you're punished when failing bosses to lose progress and slog through the level again, killing muscle memory.
People praise replayability, but as far as I've seen the game isn't much more open world than New Vegas is, and Holla Forumsirgins shit on that constantly.
That, and you can feel how the game got inspired by demon's souls "hub worlds" in having zones connect in a weird, anticlimactic way, which I really hated.

Did you fight head trap/join him on his cause of spreading moon estrogen? Did you save Solaire and have him fight Gwyn with you? Did you partake in enough jolly co-operation to get the power of the sun in you hands? Did you help onion bro on his quest, inadvertently turning him hollow? Did you get infected with soul parasites so you could get a maggot kick? Did you get the ninja-flip ring?

I played before the DLC was out, so I never did it. Couldn't find the motivation to even start the game up again to play it.

I remember jerking off to the trap a lot. I figured you could save Solaire, but again, never bothered with a second playthrough. The co-op thing seemed like a grind, so no. Yeah I helped onion guy. Did the parasite thing. Didn't get the ninja flip ring because it also seemed like a grind IIRC, but I knew about it.

The most grindy thing about co-op is the waiting time. Sometimes nobody summons and other times you get summoned instantly. If you want to cut the grind, put your sign right before one of the tougher bosses and you almost instantly get summoned. Make sure to point out Solaire summons so you can possibly get two sun token things. I think they cut some of the sunbro covenant grinding by placing tokens around randomly like that one chest in Anor Londo that contains three of them.

Now that I think of it the two fights I loved the absolute most were the two I did unprepared.
The first one being the stray demon with level 0 leather armor/ no shield to block magic.
The second was Manus because I didn't know there was atalisman behind a wall to block the magic shit he throws at you and assumed you just had to frame perfect roll it.
Maybe this game is more fun with a glass cannon build in general?

Have you not done an SL1 run yet? It's fun.

Will it have Denuvo?

I hope so

It needs denuvo for more enjoyable multiplayer experience without cheaters.

My biggest concern is they'll fucking break parrying like they did in DaS3. I can parry with ease in demon's souls and dark souls but for some fucking reason it's just impossible in DaS3. The weapon just clips through my shield and hits me, maybe once every 30 tries I get a successful parry off but that's it.

-remove bed of chaos or otherwise make it less of a fucking chore

-cloth physics

-unfuck poise

-anything gameplay related

-anything related to pvp

-item placement

Then what's the purpose of it having monthly threads to continue circle-jerking about muh new vegas politics? But you might be right, the gameplay is kinda garbage since its tied to the gamegyro engine, and even if you try to argue that the world is static, they certainly tried to do away with railroading and handholding in this game

>cloth physics
This is standard change, its already been there since Dark Souls 2 but Dark Souls 3 perfected it
>unfuck poise
i hope so
>bad change
>anything gameplay related
If anything, they should take notes of what the sequels did right in some areas (e.g: Dual Wielding, Spells that punishes rollers, a few of the weapon arts, etc) and avoid what went wrong (Making only a few weapons viable for PvP, NOPOISE, making miracle builds useless)

Also i think they should are more inter-connected areas between the post-Lordvessel areas to make it more non-linear

Say goodbye to mods.

miracles aren't really useless if you do it right. Get your dex up to 45, use inner force to keep the nigger back, and heal yourself. It's not meant to be an offensive system. Miracles are the healers route, it encourages you to use your limited moveset in a creative way.

Yeah i get it that its more of a support-type route of spells compared to Magic or Dark (RIP Pursuers) but it's still very much underpowered compared to say, Dark Souls 2 especially since the only useful miracles (in PvP) in Dark Souls 3 are few in number and is easily dodged anyways. Man, i wish that you could fucking hold spells

Bellissimo.

Your comment on parrying got me thinking about enemy speed. I wonder if they'll just speed all the enemies up to make it more like Bloodborne/DaS3. I wouldn't play it in that case.
With the change in networking, there's a possibility they'll change parrying to compensate, because if online parries work like offline parries in DaS1, we'd never miss one.

...

I recently got Dark Souls 3 + all DLC for PC(I think, I mean, it was the game + season pass according to the package), going not completely blind but I wonder, right now I entered road of sacrifices and I am beginning to feel a little underpowered, going mostly for a strength build, got a Mace, Claymore and other stuff, recommended stuff to pick up on the earlier areas? I haven't defeated the giant tree thing yet, and no, I am not interested in PvP.

The most important thing for you to know is that armor is retarded in that game, Don't waste level up's for heavier armor since it hardly makes a difference.

I have never been a fan of heavy armor, but I really can't stand not killing stuff in 1 hit after I cleared the area, I also need to begin searching for whatever I need to upgrade the estus effect because I am using them a little too much in some areas.

...

What? why?

If Pannen can still produce videos I would say Matosis has a long way to go.

How sweet.

I hope they improve Izalith and Bed of Chaos. Some balancing changes would be nice too. That's all I really want.
Even without any changes, if it's not too pricey I might get it purely to invade newbies in the catacombs.

...

It's listing at $40 unless you decide to go for their retarded special editions.

Dark Souls is not a hard game. I can't say it is even a good game. It is just a boring ass puzzle game, if you can even call it that. Puzzle games tend to be randomized and have variety in them. In Dark Souls you just have to remember what is behind the next corner, once you know, it is as good as passed. The gameplay you need to master so you won't die as long as you know what's next is minimal. This is why runs with no armour and shitty weapon is so spread. Because you just need to remember. It is literally trial and remember. Once you do you can win the game any way you want. The actual reaction time, twitch reflexes, fast thing and stuff are almost irrelevant. They are all at the very basics of video games so anyone can really beat Dark Souls and feel as a winner. This is why they turned death into such a meme, so the player doesn't feel bad when he does for not knowing what's next. He just starts believing it is part of the game. To die is the norm. When to not die when you don't know is the real skill. And real difficulty is to die no matter how much you know.

is this a new pasta?

Do you think they'll fuck up the covenants?

Like removing the blue eye oro? Hope to fuck not. Easily the worst part about ds3. I get that they wanted to make invasions more selective but way of blue isn't all that popular.

Are people actually excited about this? Are you going to repurchase the game a 3rd time when they "Remaster" it for the 4k console push in a few years, then again for the 8k push and so on?

considering it has been ages since 1080p stopped being a novelty and became a standard (8 years now?) i probably will do so for each period it comes out depending on the technological improvements it makes

oh right and fucking DS was 720p to begin with

I went into Manus without the talisman, too. The timing on the magic was just lenient enough for it to be enjoyable if you have good timing. Fuck spoilers, this is 5 years old.

I'm not excited. As for purchasing, depends on whether or not they fuck it up. If it meets my personal expectations, Dark Souls is in my top 5 favorite games, I'm willing to buy remasters of any of them as long as the devs meet my expectations.

Any of the top 5, not any Dark Souls game.

No, but I know people who have played Bloodborne on their console and are going to buy this since they missed DaS the first time, I'll loan the console and game and try it out.

This being a Dark Souls thread, i will ask this. Playing Dark Souls 3 for the first time, starting with an Herald, and going for a Dex/Faith build (Want to use dex instead of strenght, and want to use miracles if possible). I have just defeated the giant Yhorm, and I overrall been using Claymore & Halberds (Both +3) in the game. Now, should i try to use another kind of weapons based on my stats (Around +20 in faith/dex)? And I havent used infusions/upgraded much my weapons because im not sure what kind of upgrades should i make…What weapons & infusions/upgrades would be recommended for me?

Blessed or Fine , but i wont touch faith builds after they got myazaki'd to hell and back, last good miracle was dorothys gnawing and that was nerfed several patches ago. Playing as a waifu sorcerer was the last joy i got out of this game

You mean Fire by fine? Besides, TBH I havent touched online much, so im not interesed in making a perfect build, specially only for PVP and I should try to do some cooperatives (Im a sunbro), althought not sure where and how to do that (im level 55 BTW). Im really a newbie in online Souls.

Will the pc version be getting the free remaster update as well?

That's a good one. The PC version will be getting neither a discount or a free update.

Whilst Dark Souls 2 had abyssmal scaling on STR/DEX, Dark Souls 3 has abyssmal scaling on INT/FTH. And also in general but INT/FTH is still objectively worse than STR/DEX. You're most likely best off with just making any good weapon +10 and infused to scale better off of dex.

As for which weapon to pick: due to poise working completely differently, you either have to use a heavy weapon that has hyper armor or a fast weapon to poke with. Enemies will either have hyper armor with so much poise you can't break it, or no hyper armor. This means that you either need a heavy weapon to potentially facetank with, or a fast weapon to poke with. There is no in-between.

Are you fucking with me?
This is considered a separate game and not an update for already existing versions aside from switch?

Are claimores considered Heavy weapons? I use it because it does lots of damage with out being too much slow, and spending much fatigue. If no, Should I get the uchinaga , that scales well for dex? Or any recommend weapon? Even if it is not for PVP.

I don't know. Try doing strong swings whilst a weak undead attacks you. If you can hyperarmor through enemy attacks, then it classifies as a heavy weapon.

Note that hyperarmor doesn't let you hyperarmor through everything and the amount / how strong hits you can take without being interrupted depends on poise.

I Dont understand what you mean. I tried strong swings to the undead from Lothric Wall and I just kill them with either claymore (Which is a greatsword) and one of the ultragreat swords I had.

Hyperarmor/poise makes you not get hitstunned. If you can continue your attack whilst getting hit, then the weapon has hyperarmor.

I'm not.
archive.is/CHqw6

So I should infuse it with Sharp gem? Or should I get another infusion? Are Raw gems good (No scales, but it upgrades base damage alot, it seems).

Sharp or Raw, whichever gives more damage.
You should be able to see damage and scaling post-infusion before actually doing it.

I found this website trogg.net/DS3Calc/ to calculate weapons damage. putting my stats (16 Strength, 22+3 from ring Dex) and for multiple weapons I tested, overall the Sharp/Raw infusions give only marginal changes to the damage. It looks like just upgrading weapons is the best. Correct me if im wrong, but thats the look from it.

Change the inventory from list to a grid.

Infusion is separate from weapon upgrading.

You can add and remove infusions at any upgrade level. It's not like DeS/DaS where its tied to upgrading. It's like DaS2, infusion is separate.

You should always +10 the weapon you want to use. There is no reason not to. You can always undo infusions you've made at a later point and slap on a different one. (But this does cost infusion materials.)

...

I should really have started the Dark Demon Blood series before Demon's (Demons?) Souls online shut down.

still no screens or in game footage?

I love the souls series. But I'm honestly just not feeling it. I have no desire to buy this game. I just feel burnt out on it at this point. It was amazing, and by far my favorite souls game. But I just am not seeing the appeal

...
