Miitomo is shutting down

>inb4 "Not vidya"

I'm shocked this boring app managed to last this long. It had some tasty memes in the beginning but people realized how restrictive it was and how little there was to do. Once Fire Emblem Heroes showed up, that was the final nail in the coffin.

Is there a single person on the entire planet who played Miitomo for more than a week

Literally who

Any other stuff I should know about this parallel universe?

In other "Nintendo is shit" news. My niece has a Switch. She was desperate to get some amiibos so she can use them on the switch. Her mother asked me if I could get them cheap or pirate them or something. I spent the better part of an hour and £5 figuring out how to spoof them…
There are fucking hundreds of the things. And they all do jack shit. I can get my niece any amiibo her heart desires with regards to affecting the games, and I'm struggling to see why I should even take the 30 seconds it takes to flash a NFC chip since they all do nothing. How the hell are these things still selling? Are people really paying £20 a pop for a McDonald's toy that looks like Mario?

Yes they are, and it gets worse. People are legit scalping the Super Mario Cereal because it has Amiibo functionality, even thiugh it only works on Super Mario Odyssey, and all it does is give you coins. That's it. Yet people are eating it up.

Now, being the faggot I am, I have an Amiibo myself. However, I only have one. ONE. That one Amiibo being a Zero Suit Samus Amiibo because I'm a Zero Suit autist, and I pretty much only use it as a desk decoration. In fact, most Amiibos are just used as desk decorations at this point.

They are no longer dead last in the console race. The Switch is on its way to becoming the new Game Boy and the XboxeneX has taken the Wii U's place. Suddenly the shareholders aren't screaming how mobage is the future anymore so Miitomos damp squib release is just a shameful failure that needs removing. I'm not that shocked.

They are literally the only Bayo figures you can get.

Know of any place that sells figures of these character? That is literally the only reason Amiibos have survived.

You are wrong

Nintendo have survived for the past fifteen years purely by luck. The Gamecube was good, but a failure. The Wii was a fluke. The Wii U was a colossal failure. The Switch is a success. This cycle will likely continue forever. Nintendo’s luck has never run out, and it likely never will.
In fact, I’d argue Nintendo’s successes in general were pure luck. There was no fucking way the NES should’ve succeeded, even with the marketing.

I'll sell you a figure of whatever character you want. It'll be easily as overpriced and crappy as any of those characters.
Or you could, you know, not buy McDonalds toys of video game characters.
You're acting like "these are the only figures of this character" is some sort of defense. Like it is a reasonable argument.

Shhh, user. Facts and logic cannot penetrate the thick cloak of brand devotion which enshroud all good Nintendo fanboys.

Does that explain why Funko POP figures sell, even though they are crap?

Bayonetta has multiple figures

I enjoyed grabbing the squishy metroid figure for $5 that was incorrectly marked down.
Other than that, it's pretty fucking jewey. Not on the tier of "$5 for additional resources in your new game (once only)", but it's close.

It filled in a vacuum left by Atari and was the first time in nearly a decade a new console actually had much better games than the one before it rather than souped up clones.

They're funko pops with a gimmick. They took the worst of Skylanders and the worst of funko pops and mixed it with nintendo autism.

It's impossible for them not to sell.

Nigger they have billions in cash reserves and zero debt, they're a very well run business unlike Sony. Even the Gamecube was profitable for them.

If they were £5 i'd be a lot more forgiving. Or if they were action figures or something fun in their own right. The lego game that does this I'm fine with because at least you get Lego out of it (unless I'm severely misinformed). Also nearly all Amiibos I've seen are £20 for additional resources in your new game (once only). There are like 30 animal crossing amiibos, I can't imagine all 30 of them are going to work on multiple different games.
If Ninty wasn't so Jewy then they would've stuck with a handful of popular characters, and made them useful in every game. But then you can't bilk people out of easy cash. You can sell them low-quality on-disc DLC. You can't trick kids into buying micro transactions.
If any other company had done the Amiibo shit, gamers the world over would be up in arms. Journos and fanboys not withstanding as they don't qualify. But once again Nintendo says it's cool so it must be? Nintendo wouldn't lie would they? No… No it can't be possible. Starfox 64 was so fun, they can't possibly be shysters.

That's why, dibshits!

That's the reason why I've only eyed them. I refuse to pay more than $5 for the suckers.

Last I heard, Funko is actually in financial straits due to the only people buying the figures being the most normalfags of normalfag (Pretty much, the same people buying the Porgs from the new Star Wars) and the e-celebs.

Unfortunately, I haven't seen one sold where I love.
The Lego packs could have cost a dollar or two less than they are, but Lego sets are always a bit expensive in some ways.

Source on funko being fuckod?

This. I don't give a shit about collecting glorified happy meal toys, I only want to get my fucking in-game bonuses.
All you gotta do is get 100 of those N215 tags and clone your amiibos.

m.ebay.com/itm/50X-NTAG215-NFC-Stickers-Label-13-56MHz-Tags-for-All-NFC-phone-TagMo-Switch/263369369714?
Get 100 amiibos for the price of 3.
Fuck your paywalls.

The LEGO ones were pretty neat. There were some really shit ideas, like NuGhostbusters and NuPPG, but others like Doctor Who, Scooby-Doo, Back to the Future, Sonic etc were brilliant choices.
It's a shame that was shut down, and I'm even more pissed off that there's no active attempt to start piracy and all the sets are at stupid prices due to fake scarcity by hoarders.

You know there's a problem with a product when they line them along the entirety of a wall in a store and there's not a single one missing at any point in the day.
I've seen a display that was huge, then saw another one that was slightly smaller in another store 30m away.
I counted the smaller one, and that was 20 high and 60 wide, so 1200 figures were on display, plus ones in the back for restock that never comes.

If the lego sets weren't 15 to 30 dollars each they could have won the "toys to life" competition, but then again, we're talking about (((LEGO)))

LEGO aren't that bad in terms of Jewing people.
It's only when you want to buy the licensed shit. That costs more because they want the same profit per brick as every other set, but still need to make extra cash to recoup the loss from buying the rights to the toys, or may have a licensing fee per unit cost.

t. LEGO connoisseur.

Yeah, I know lego isn't jewish, I was echoing their names because of their over-priced products.
If the sets weren't so pricy more people could buy them, therefore, they would make more money. I actually know a lot of people who wanted to buy this game, but were pushed back because of the price.
t. legofag

mii-what the fuck now?

I agree. If they took a 10% hit on every item, they'd sell infinitely more, but at the moment it's a case of "It's worked thus far".
Older companies are less likely to chance their ways, especially if they're continually profitable.

I'll always have a spot in my heart for Lego after discovering the digital Lego creator they put out for free. Very few companies in their business would let you do something for free digitally that is their main source of income. They aint perfect, but they are alright in my book.

People started reusing it to abuse the terrible text to speech modulator but we all know it was just an overglorified advertisement for 3DS Mii games.

Just buy that bootleg base with portable Amiibo codes and superglue a My Little Pony figurette how hard can it fucking be

Funko Pop! is just a scam to get "popularity whales" addicted to the toys or series they're trying to promote and to make confused grannies buy them because their nephews is into pop culture. What puzzles me is just what kind of high demand there could be to mass produce these soulless caricatures, every gaming shop or department store I've gone to has shelves stocked full of these critters and in my entire life I've never seen a single human being even getting near them. Not even the impressionable 13 year old squealing fujoshits register their existence. Is this yet another Fidget Spinner situation, where the owner of the toys is another Jew but this time his plans backfired?

What kind of multidimensional autism box are we opening here

About as hard as reading a fucking post you mongoloid. How did you read that post and decide it was me asking how to spoof the amiibo things? Did you get two words in and rush for a hot take response? Can't into reading comprehension? Too autistic? I'm genuinely curious. What did you think that post is saying?
Also it says a lot about you that your answer is "buy this thing!" when both myself and another user have pointed you can buy 100 NFC stickers for the price of that stupid bootleg base.

I have one for Shulk
that's it

LDD was one of the companies best moves in my mind.
Not only did they distribute it like wildfire, but they were encouraging it's use in schools, which is both a great way to make cash, and, in my mind, a good way to teach children, as I've seen LEGO and similar block building toys used as learning aids since I was a wee lad.

The absolute pinnacle of that system, though, and I can't be sure if it actually got used all that often, was the ability to create a custom set using thousands of their specialised moulds (ones that were hard to get replacements for), but that they sold those custom orders at reasonable prices.

I spent maybe $40 to get an absolute shit ton of special pieces that had been worn out/lost over time, and it made me incredibly happy.

Not much. I just have many LEGO sets from all stages of my life.

My current favourites are the Mighty Micros they made for DC. They're about 30 pieces big that make 2 little cars themed around the superhero. Only issue I have is that they use minifigures with smaller, unposable legs so they fit in the car without making them bend to sit or have a bigger car.
Of the ones I have, the Bane and The Flash cars are the best.
Still hunting down the Joker and Nightwing one, and then I'll have all of them. Might change to a different franchise/style or keep with DC.

That fucking sucks.

Seriously though, I doubt any reason other than miitomo's ridiculous simplicity in grinding out Mynintendo rewards, I managed to get essentially all the awards just by checking in once a day and switching pants.

...

First the miiverse then this?

OH NO! HOW AM I GOING TO DISCUSS IN MEMESPEAK WITH MY NINTENBROS NOW?

...

I think people are missing one big thing about miitomo and that is that miis are wii era branding and it looks like nintendo are slowly distancing themselves from that. Undoubtedly that isn't the only reason they are dropping miitomo or one of the main reasons, but id say it would be a part of the decision.

Consistent collectible figures of characters people actually want to own, is such a thing really hard to understand?

Why do people ask the same retard question time and time again?

I understand that a fool and his money are soon parted.
I'm just confused why so many people find being a fool something to be proud of. Or why these people think it should be self evident that their need to piss money away doesn't need to be explained at all.

Good. I expected a phone version of Tomodachi Life and got a data mining simulator. Fuck that "game".

If you want a US amiibo then try your local stores which is where I got my Falco or Ebay. If you want any figure and don't care what region it's from because you're just going to take it out of the box, then you can pick up a japanese import on Amazon.

I got the link one to get a weapon in hyrule warriors + some other useless shit.
All the other amiibos I have seen give practically fuck all though.

It's just a butchered Tomodachi Life. Nothing of value was lost. The biggest fun i had with TL was changing the lyrics of the music performances.

Did you hotglue her yet?

they killed miiverse so wtf did you expect?

That would give it a better face.

...

...

The only amiibo I had was a Captain Falcon one. Key word being had, my dog somehow got ahold of it while I was sleeping and tore it to shreds. Poor cap really can never catch a break. I salvaged the base to use for the "functionality" at least, but the decorative part is obviously gone now.

Falcon CRUNCH

Where's the webm where the guy gets molested after being called a dumb dumb baby boy.

Miitomo was actually a ton of fun, it could've actually carved a nice corner in the social network market if

Customization and shitposting were top tier, I have no fucking idea why they never updated it to remove the twitter/facebook friendship bullshit.

...

It was a fun activity between me and my gf
I thought Animal Crossing on phone would be better than Miitomo because of the activities you could do in the main series.
I dropped Animal Crossing in less than a week.

Miitomo was reall kind of fun.
If only they updated it to add furniture and clothing and interactions in the style of Animal Crossing, then it would've had more lasting power.

it's like someone used a monkey paw

I played it for a week to get enough outfits then made 1 comic with them, and that's it. Bitstrips had died back then and this was the second best option.

Miitomo hotel?

On this website lol

pretty sure it's main goal was just datamining
