I thought the Rachni decision in Ass Defect 1 was pretty difficult.
On the one hand they're a race that tries to commit genocide and had to be purged from the galaxy.
On the other hand, who are you to single-handedly wipe out a species? Especially when they've become sentient and (apparently) compassionate, having learned from their mistakes.
Thankfully Bioware, in their infinite wisdom as guardians of all morality, decided to colour-code the issue so you know which choice is "good" and which one is "bad". Bunch of preaching cunts.

I think digital distribution is the worst thing to happen to PC gaming but there's a lot of truth to that statement the more I think about it. Too many people just buy games for the sake of buying them.

Bioware made sparing them the correct choice anyway, they just go live peacefully on some unnamed planet.

I hate how Renegade was always the correct choice, because Paragon Shepard was just an awful character.

Every single piece of memorable dialogue that came out of Shepard was from Renegade, I can think of a few even though I've not touched the franchise since ME3 was released, while I cannot think of a single Paragon line.

Not to mention that the development of Shepard as Renegade much better fits the awful main plot of the trilogy. Minus the kiddiediddlin in ME3, and Starchild, because those two absolutely destroyed both established Shepards.

You got "preparation points" if you spared the Rachni. That's it. Points you earn for doing multiplayer missions that slightly change the ending depending on how many you have.
Meaningful choices my ass. Mass Effect was so bad it made me go back and look at the rest of their catalogue with fresh eyes and realise that yes, Bioware does in fact suck and their writing is terrible.

The rachni were not a biological weapon. They were basically a space faring bug species that destroyed and consumed everything it came across, committing genocide because that was just their thing.

The rachni queen you come across in ME1 is however an attempt to control the rachni, and thus turning them into a weapon.

Few players realize the significance of the rachni, however, as they are the reason as to why more mass effect relays aren't being activated throughout the games (as the races of the citadel are wary of opening a gateway to a Rachni hive which would result in the rachni porting through the mass effect relay and just obliterating everything.

This was in fact also the reason behind the initial, poor human-turian relations, as the turians were the first to encounter humans, and had to do so with force because humans were blissfully ignorant just opening every relay they came across.

So much good lore wasted on that ass franchise. The original feel they were going for was excellent too, with the focus on retro-styled armours and the synth soundtrack. When you first meet Ashley she's wearing a suit that would fit right in to Star Wars or any 80s sci-fi.

Renegade shepard was particularly notable because it was one of the first evil morality paths that were actually well made. Namely that she wasn't evil, she just wanted to get shit done and to give genuine evil characters the ass-kicking they deserve.
And then in ME3 renegade was just gratuitous evil like all the rest. That game really fucked up everything with the sole exception of the conclusion of the geth/quarian peace

In post-commie countries people that lived through communism used to buy out the whole stock of sugar, flour, noodles and what not every time there was sale on those products to "stock up" just in case there'd be storage. I think people buy games they don't play for the same reason, not because something is trendy or everyone is doing it. There are tons of games they have only a mild interest in, but they still buy it, just in case. It's dirt cheap now, but it may not be in the future.
Which is stupid because you can't "stock up" on games unless you buy DRM free versions and put them on CD's or something. Or maybe they can't afford to buy games fullprice and lack of sales is their "shortage" they want to protect themselves from.

She acts like an asshole to her friends all the time but it's revealed she actually likes her friends in a dream sequence so everything's okay.
