So how badly is this game going to be DOA?

This shit is Squenix's huge esports push and its going to eat shit on day one.

what do you mean? this game isnt going to be Dead or Alive

DOA = Dead on Arrival.

Dead or Alive is just dead now so it's appropriate

...

How could they possibly justify Kefka being in 14?

The Omega Weapon was revealed to be the same entity in every game. It travels the FF multiverse running a self improvement program looking for stronger challengers while it has reality warping powers to make simulations of past enemies to send out to find the next universes strongest challengers. It already created X Death in XIV.

And it picked arguably the wimpiest end boss in FF history?

Did they ever fix the awful HUD from when it was first revealed?

I see the FF lore has gone to shit as of late,i guess they finally got tired of lore building regions inside and around Ivalice

They're also bringing in the Phantom Train, Chadarnook, the Guardian, and Atma/Ultima Weapon. It's not a "muh powerlevels" or "muh rpg numbers" thing. It's fan service.
Odds are the justification you'll get is "this train comes from a story about an evil train to the underworld" or "this demon is from a story about a painting that got possessed by a demon obsessed with how beautiful it was" or "this guy was a powerful wizard who sought to conquer the very gods" and so on.

You'll be getting another Ivalice raid in 4.3, probably.

Godawful controls
Godawful combat (Original was better)
Godawful team system
NO PRISHE, NO BUY

Totally DOA in America.

Man, that many shitty games coming out in the same week?

I wish I could disagree, but it really does not live up to expectations and the whole flow of the game feels off, like there was no effort to improve on the Virtua-ON like system.
Also the localisation is offensively bad, and even outright mischaracterizing, at some points.

DBFZ seems rather simple from what I played. It's neat but not worth full price so it doesn't matter what it launches alongside in my case. MHW was also neat but after two betas I'm already bored with it and not buying it. Dissidia? Seems like a nice atypical title to play while enjoying decades of nostalgia. I think I'll get it. How can you not support vitruvian craftsmanship like pic related?

Kill yourself faggot shill

It's not gay to have taste, nigger. Refine yourself.

At least we will get some good SFM porn even if the game is not a huge success.

This game is shit regardless if Ramza is in or not.

Rope yourself nigger

Gay.

This, sadly. The controls are just so bad.

The customization options in this game are so bad, players weren't even allowed to choose what they wanted to play with in the prelaunch tournament.

SE are pretty nuts releasing it now, which is a shame since the game's really fun. I just hope they realise what might cause slow initial sales.

They announced that'd be changed ages ago and showed it several times since. The current beta uses the new one too.

What is it about vague shitposting always being so obviously wrong as well?

I don't know how they fucked up a tournament but the game itself has HP attack, Ex Skill and summon choice which all have a big effect on how you play. If they actually want to do tournaments for the game they need to keep in mind how changing them actually works, but only Ex Skills need to be set somewhat in advance and they're quick to do and let you have a huge number of sets per character.

Square are fucking idiots for not getting Koei to just make a FF Musou instead of this dumbed down mess. They had something magical with this series and it was a joy to play, literally all they had to do was build on the great things Duodecim added and include more fighters, preferably more villains, like Seifer, Seymour or even something wild like Astos from the original Final Fantasy. Seriously fuck Square.

I disagree. There are no issues with the controls. The combat design in particular (Xenoverse being another) I generally dislike, but I have no problem inputting commands and achieving expected results. Also the layout feels good to me as well. The game is fun in my honest opinion and populated by characters I love depicted by gorgeous 1:1 updated models. It's the fucking netcode or network freezing that bothers me.

The team setup can take a little getting used to for some but it allows for some amazing moments and really cool strategies on top of a lot more depth. It just needs more awareness of yourself and both teams but it really adds a lot to the systems that were already in there like Bravery, plus it's not as retarded as assists were.

Suck that corporate cock harder

This.

Holy shit is this all Square Enix and Koei could afford for a defense force?

It certainly does. I was late in joining the beta and I don't follow any development closely these days so I am far behind the cure. Even still the pacing and strategy involved are apparent. I would love it if these elements ran deep, but exploring all of the characters and game mechanics would require more than one demo. This also makes the game's absolute dismissal amusing and telling. It obviously enjoyed a thoughtful development, it's a shame so much time, skill and money goes into a game just to be overlooked.

There's not much time left now sadly but there's still enough to unlock and mess around with a lot of what's currently available, so don't let the timing put you off or anything but you might have to check out movelists or just ask to get exact explanations of the character specific mechanics, the tutorial is pretty solid but it only hints at that stuff in the character descriptions. The game's actually been out in arcades for a decent amount of time now so it's been around the block. The kneejerk reactions and shitposting are pretty remarkable though especially with how blatantly uninformed they are about it.

Apparently

I really hope it gets a steady playerbase. I don't think it will be hugely popular or anything since it's a different beast than 012, but as long as there's someone willing to beat the shit out of Squall, it should be fine. Thank fuck you can turn off the moogle, that was the most retarded thing I've ever heard.

Whaaat? I can absolutely see it now, especially in things like the reward screen, if not the entire design. How negligible are western profits then? Seems like a good way to insulate yourself against less discerning consumers.

All they had to do was make a Duodecim HD and add in a couple new characters.
Instead we got this mess of a game that desperately wants to be an esport, but it never will.
Fuck me, the state of Square Enix.

Here's how it should've gone

Common sense, really.
I know characters from non-FF games are a stretch but they would help sell the game, especially from a waifu standpoint

results screen

i dunno lol i just like the game
But yeah it's been around for years now and it seems like it's been doing pretty strong in arcades since it's lasted this long with this many updates on top of a lot of people wanting a console version. Plus it's still Final Fantasy so I imagine a lot of people will want to pick it up just based on that, which goes well with the whole team thing. The only issue is people see one or two things that are different (or better), start crying because they have to learn how to deal with a team (aka how to play a videogame) and crash hard before they can actually get to grips with and enjoy the game. Personally I don't even understand how people have such a big problem getting into the game and what's new about it, but it keeps cropping up so "whatever".

Example. If you just want the exact same game then it hasn't went anywhere, but what you're asking for is literally what this game is, building on and refining the original gameplay and adding Y'shtola, Ramza and Ace on top of reinventing a few existing characters like Bartz. Adding non-FF characters to a game entirely about being an FF crossover when they have so many to draw from there already is a dumb idea and thinking that you're held captive by how SE are advertising the game with "muh esports" is a dumb idea. This release window though is also very much a dumb idea.

Mein negro.

Same entity? Now that is grade A BS. Considering that Omega in VII is basically the Planet's self-destruct switch, Omega in X is a branded traitor Yevon monk..and the rest are just optional superbosses.

At least Phantom Train made sense since it just gathers souls to be sent to the Other World (heck, Phantom Train was at Ivalice during the events of Tactics..right during the bloodiest war in Ivalice is about to happen)

NO GABRANTH, NO BUY

You know..instead of just having Ramza, Square should've just make another Tactics game.

It was also in 8.

OK…I can't explain why anyone can just summon Doomtrain in 8.

My nigger.

Well, in the Japanese script it's named after this guy right but just given the look of a train presumably to tie it into the Occult Magazine stories.

Not just anyone can summon Doomtrain. Only those able to unravel the madness of that magazine can do it.

Final fantasy has always been shit, don't delude yourself nigger.

Ah, Virtua-ON…shame that it's not as popular in the states. I remembered playing this on the PC as a lad. Then again, I experienced a lot of Sega games on the PC..Virtua Cop 2, Daytona..

Filter and report the shills.
The games was supposed to be what we wanted: Dodecim HD with new characters.
Square did not deliver it, and thus, it is shit.
Contribute to never let them have their esports shit place, at least in the west.

That looks suspiciously like a certain stand

Red Garland from 7th Stand User?

I didnt even know it was coming out yet, all ive been hearing about was DBFZ and MHW.
Dissidia has been completely ignored from all that ive seen and it doesnt even look fun either, it looks too floaty and it doesnt even have anything interesting to offer.
Im sorry to say but its fucked.

Fucking good.
Dumbed down an already simple as fuck game when literally all they needed to do was take the last game and add more shit.

Thank god it's going to die.

In what way does adding more attacks and character specific mechanics, team strategies and choices/customization that actually affect and influence your playstyle make a game dumbed down?

There is literally nothing about a MOBA in this game.

n-no…

>more _

Hey dumbass, have you even played Dissidia? "Team Strategies" is the only thing you said that isn't completely wrong.

Played both games longer than you I bet. At most characters had 6 brave attacks at once with the extra options almost always being obviously worse if they even existed while here they have on average 7 brave attacks. They have on average 1 HP attack you pick for ground and air which in many cases changes either a little or entirely based on the character and situations and has bonus passive effects or buffs/debuffs, while before they had 2-4 HP attacks including exact repeats but in the air that also get covered by NT's HP attack choice. This isn't counting character specific mechanics which would double several character's usable brave movelists or make them much more indepth execution-wise though. Ex Skills also act as far more interesting additional attacks and customization options.

(You)

I loved Dissidia but disliked 012. Does this new one look like it will be any good?

It's going to have a very different audience it appeals to compared to the old games is the nicest way I can put it, as someone that loved 012 but hates the new one. If you like competition or competitive games you'll likely enjoy it.

Why did you dislike 012? NT feels similar but strange because of the 3v3 and one HP attack. It's still fun with friends.

Multiplayer was my favorite part of Dissidia for sure.

Didn't like the changes they made to the Chase mode, felt like there wasn't enough new content to justify the full price, didn't like the new structure of the single player campaign as much as the old one.

You'll be fine then.

Fucking this so much, friend brought over his PS4 so I could try it and if felt like a bad ver. of Gundam vs.
They still could have had the 3v3 I just don't see why the movesets and customization had to get butchered imo the customization would sell more in arcades.

012 wasn't full price though, but I guess I can understand what you mean.

Chase is gone entirely and there's not really as much overall single player content as Duodecim but instead it's far more focused around the multiplayer with it being 3v3 and having online etc. though there's lobbies for 1v1 or whatever number of players under the max that there are. You also unlock the story battles and cutscenes by playing the other modes and leveling up, and I guess there's more variety in the fights themselves since there's boss fights and that Core Battle mode. Should've tried the Beta though, it was up for like a week but literally just ended.
Also gotta commend the good taste with both Onion Knight and that alt, but it seems weird to not like the Chase change since it was so slow before and practically useless since you could react to it easily every time.

I'm sure you were a pro at Sephiroth's perfect dash cancels and switching between Exdeath's multiple modes too, right?

I bought it at launch, I remember paying full PSP game prices for it. Are you sure you didn't get it later?

I guess no chase would be better than a crappy version of chase, and it makes sense to do that outside of a 1v1 environment. I don't remember exactly what they changed about Chase but I just know I didn't like it. Felt less aggressive or something. Less useful.

Onion Knight is indeed a best, but I also enjoyed Garland. Both clips are multiplayer footage against a friend, good times.

I believe they made chase much faster in 012.

I got it on launch but the limited edition and it still wasn't expensive. I distinctly remember 012 was cheaper by at least 1/3 because they said it's more of an addon than anything. NT should have been like that too IMO, but they have season pass idiocy as well… Loved the Dissidia limited editions however, if they had one for NT without the WoL bust I would have gotten that too. I have no shame.

Read up on character mechanics before I jumped in, didn't stop me from thinking it all felt like a bad Gundam vs clone.

I especially love that you can freely move the camera around in Dissidia, revealing just how essential the lock-on feature of Gundam Versus' camera is. I can not for the fucking life of me keep up with Dissidia.

Not really. XIV's Omega is an interstellar/dimensional being made by some species from probably another shard of Hydaelyn, but it's contained to XIV's lore for now.

Every fight in Omega is based on a fairy tale or myth from Hydaelyn. Exdeath literally looks and fights like 5's, but for all intent and purposes it's still something exclusive to XIV. Kefka will probably be an emulation of some Allagan or Garlean mage. It's like how Ivalice in XIV isn't the actual FF12 or Tactics Ivalice, and how Xande is an Allagan emperor instead of the one from FF3. Shit's just there for references and fanservice.

Actually it was the exact opposite, Duodecim Chase was much much faster, to the point where it was an actual 50/50 and therefore usable. Overall though it still wasn't that useful or enjoyable, only decent for gathering Ex if there's a lot out with no core or bullshit assist combos because lolassists.

The only thing "Gundam" about it that wasn't present in the series already is having teams which has been foreshadowed since the first game. If you actually knew about the mechanics then you'd know no one was butchered or fucked over and at the very least a few are just different while being no less interesting. Squall for example is still very similar but with the addition of the trigger and Draw which freshens him up, and Bartz is entirely new with moves based off of jobs that he masters midfight to make them and him better.

But no, that was too hard for them, instead they do a shitty tag team game FUCK SQUENIX FUCK FUCK FUCK

Didn't they change it so that it doesn't lock you into the 1v1 for as long? Maybe that's what it was. I just remember something about it made it feel completely worthless to even attempt after the change.

Nope, it was still three strikes and you're out, only the speed of the attacks and the dashes in between were made much faster so things only grinded to a halt for a little while. Didn't stop me fitting out Terra with anything that increased Chase damage because I was bitter about that being the only time she used her sword. At least now she casts with it and has it out all the time but she still doesn't really use it.

They fucking ruined Exdeath. He was a counter character and they turned him into Lightning 0.5.

Thing is that dimensional hopping is nothing new to FF14. Forget FF8 with same characteristics, Gilgamesh is all but confirmed by the FF creators themselves that Gilgamesh is the same guy since FFV. So it is pointless to doubt FF space warping shinanigans.

Exdeath's counter focus seemed cool at first but it made him fucking stupid to ever actually deal with when he can build full assist in a few seconds and counter any attempt at stopping him from doing anything and turn it into big damage. He still has Omniblock as a HP attack and his modes are nothing like Lightning.

It's far from dead. They stopped the DLC for DoA5 but that doesn't mean they'll make a new one some time in the future. The game has been getting side tournaments for years too.

I think the controls take time to get used to but that doesn't make them bad. What is bad is that you can't map the controls the way you want to and must go by a predetermined set. Like you can never set dash to X for example. I would rather have it that way since I'm so used to Gundam Versus.

You come off as a shill and I don't agree with you. This game is even more simplistic that DBF just from how restrictive the controls are when it comes to movement and attacking. DBF may have casual auto combo mechanics but you still have many things that come with it just being a fighter like cross-ups, mix-ups, zoning, spacing, block pressure, okis, and more. Even as a simple and casual fighter, it has way more depth that will keep people playing even if they won't buy DLC characters.

Dissidia has zoning but no spacing with melee attacks since most just throw you forward and the camera angle makes it tough to determine the exact distance of a attacker. Blocking is very simplistic but the game is hectic so it's not such a bad thing. A perfect guard mechanic could help this. Most of the fight is also spent chasing other characters which isn't fun. Sure, you do this as well in Gundam Versus but the difference here is that you're not stopping every time you want to fire something at someone. You can see here how fast and hectic it is despite being 2v2.
hooktube.com/watch?v=c-0GBAvUEzk
I played Dissidea because I liked the gameplay. But look at this and Virtual-ON and it's obvious both play better than the new Dissidea.

What depth? The most depth this game has is your partner continuing combos with you and that's very simple. Just attack the same person someone else is and it has a good chance of linking. There isn't much depth in movement, attack strings, playing defensive, or how summons work. It's very plain and restrictive. Hell I stopped playing the beta after 1 match because no one else was playing during a weekend.

Is chess also simpler than DBFZ? The rules governing movement and attacking are also very strict.
It's really not, if you had spent any amount of time with it you realize that.
No, and this isn't Gundam Versus.
You just played one match and lost it when you weren't immediately great at it, didn't you?
I did not see that coming

Yeah it definitely shows that you played only a single match of a rotating character beta yet somehow feel qualified to talk about it's inner intricacies. Melee attacks very obviously have spacing with both distance and height to consider, this is the case for practically every single character. The camera angle is still adjustable as it's always been, there's a map and target lines if they're on you and quite frankly I have never had or even imagined such a problem happening in this or the previous games. Some characters have additional blocking mechanics but the basic guard being the straightforward reliable isn't a bad thing because the other options are there. The characters that use magic can all do so while moving and attacks are dash cancellable so you're never that far from someone if you don't want to be.
As for depth, from the character select screen there's team composition regarding Ex Skill, HP attack and summon choices, all of which have several vastly different options and possibilities, and the characters themselves with multiple unique mechanics. Movement has two dash types, wall running, gauge management and proper height positioning. Attacks are very different depending on character and whatever mechanics they have available, and defense requires knowledge of multiple movement options since there's no iframes on dodging. Putting it all together gives you lots of room to express yourself, especially in a team scenario, which also has Ex Skill and character synergy on top of fighting for summon cores and summoning.
Yes it's different from Gundam Versus. That's because it's Dissidia. Not Gundam. Consider actually learning about the game in question instead of thinking you're a de facto master at it because you played one match and really like some other game. Or I could just call you a Gundam shill since that seems to be the hip thing to do.

Is this some meta "You need a high IQ" copypasta for nuDissidia? Neat.

You are given a shit ton of ways to approach and deal with people in various ways in chess. I don't know why you would use chess as an example.
When you are in a cluster fuck of 3+ characters attacking near each other it can be. That was to justify the way blocking works as it's a 360 barrier instead of it being where the camera or character is facing. It was saying it could use more depth.
Why even pretend like you're quoting when you're going to be a faggot and make up shit? The point is that it's a non-stop back and fourth assault that gives you many ways to run move around and attack the enemy. Doing so in this game has barely any of the excitement and impact
That doesn't even address the issue with mapping buttons and you just dodged that and went passive aggressive. I actually won the fight and got the highest score using Golbez.
Again here you are being a complete faggot and didn't even bother to quote the rest where I said I stopped because no one was playing despite it being the weekend.

I just want Celes.

This is actually so perfect it's hilarious.

Why does Square Enix want to slowly ruin Dissidia until it becomes an ASSFAGGOTS for corporate milkmen?

When in my post did I say that user? e"sports" is fucking cancer and I want it nowhere near things I like.

Just a train of thought where they'll dumb down Dissidia to make it more vapid with attack options removed from each character so that they can include tag-team and lootcrates, and then they'll eventually turn it into a musou-moba hybrid in the next game in the next game after NT.

Eight long days. How am I supposed to endure this?

That kupo shit was annoying. Glad you could turn it off in battle. if only they could do it for the rest of the game.

But you can.

You might need to speak to a specialist, kupo!

Who does every characters since ffVII looks like tomboys and boys band singer? Lightening was the reason why i stopped caring about FF, "she" looks like a post op trap. Disgusting.

people still play the garbage pile that is XIV? i thought that shit died

Boy, have I got a game for you. No tomboys or boy bands, just a literal goddess cast as the main character. Her name is Lightning and let me warn you in advance because she oozes sex appeal. Her walk animation alone is enough to get your heart racing, definitely don't play the game when your parents are watching, especially part three.

Go away, Toriyama.

The only good thing about Lightning being in Dissidia is that I get to kill her.

I agree with the boy band thing though, that shit needs to die.

You and me both.

In the sense that her head should be in front of a primed cannon, sure.

EXACTLY!

dissidia 012 is my favorite final fantasy game
all else is trash

That is NOT what I mean.
