Went to game design intro course for the first time today. We dove straight into using the Unreal engine and fucking about with one of those premade "third person" templates.

Mostly applies to the protags then, but either Yuri (uses either gauntlets or clawed/spiked fist weapons), Jude (gauntlets), or Senel (has bracer equips but otherwise uses just his fists and feet). Legendia isn't that good a game, so I suppose it shows I haven't really played many fist fighter games if it's one of the three I'm mentioning.

Arc Rise Fantasia. Local Gamestapo has a copy for a good bit cheaper than it goes for online. Cover's unfortunately got holes jammed through it (fucking eco friendly covers) and the disc it came with is a wreck, but the only employee there said he knows exactly how I feel about the condition of stuff himself and is working to at least get a better condition disc sent down, since otherwise it's a complete copy. The bad news about the game is that it's got a dub quality that should be unheard of in a game past the early PS2 era, and that I wouldn't wish on any upcoming game. On the other hand, the dub is apparently so awful it becomes unintentional comedy, and apart from that the game's supposedly very solid.

Good. Both avoid the gym leader type trumping shit by having bosses using strategical moves and type combos, and even mooks have nicely varied enemies. Colosseum is the harder of the two due to the way the save system works. Some downsides are the limited amount of mons, and if you're a Stadiumfag there's no minigames. Really good OST in both though. Genius Sonority can make decent Pokemon spinoffs, but NoJ seems to relegate them to developing shit these days.

If anything, them not being like Stadium (in terms of minigames; they still have arena matches and multiplayer competitive) seems to be a complaint that I've seen raised against them. People expected minigames in a console Pokemon, didn't get minigames, and ignored it. They still sold well though, albeit not enough for Nintendo to continue funding that style.

It's limited because Orre is a shithole wasteland hard for even industrious humans to eke out a living in. You steal Shadow Pokemon from other trainers using the Snag Machine to bolster your team. First game has 47 total I think, while Gale of Darkness has 80-something plus very few actual non-shadow catches.

Well if you finish the new Deus Ex and still hunger for more conspiracy-laden augmented stealth shooter-ing, I'd say give the original a try with the GMDX mod version 9. Really modernizes it and makes it play like a new shooter (in a good way) while still pleasing autists like me. And it has high-res textures packs and new sound effects built in so it looks nice for an Unreal Tournament engine game.

I'm probably making a beef pot roast tomorrow or the day after. Making a list of ingredients for the next time I go to the grocery. I've made it before, it's very tasty!

Protag also gets that orange haired girl as a partner, whose usage is both to provide discussion with other characters (player being silent as par for Pokemon), and being able to see the auras of Shadow Pokemon, and thus helps to determine which Pokemon you're able to catch. A lot of the Pokemon were also Johto ones, back when it was really hard to otherwise obtain them in Gen III, so the games had a use there too.

Sure, but he's more known for his sword. Second Star specifically, which is hilarious because it's like the only katana in the game, is acquired pretty late into it, and isn't even his best weapon. Not sure how it became his representative one other than him looking cool with it in artwork.

I've actually seen outright exceptions where not even r34a clause has been applied, simply because professional review shat the game into oblivion before it had a chance to find an audiance. But again, the Colosseum style games had a limited audiance: People that just wanted monster catching with low story input went for the main games as usual, while Stadiumfags were obviously angry at the lack of minigames. That leaves them more for people that want a mixture of mons with a decent story, even if that winds up with some drawbacks.
