Fucking NO. Most games are horribly optimized and don't deserve the hardware they need to get mediocre graphics out of them.

The only game that is a legitimate hardware widowmaker and actually deserves to be one, is Witcher 3, because of it's intense I/O usage thanks to it's high detail draw distance. Almost every other game that brags about it's graphics are games that stuffed in every possible visual effect they could without a single consideration for optimization.

Even with physical discs, these days it's becoming rarer and rarer for a game to actually play directly off them without some sort of forced copying and installation of game files before you can. Been like that since part of seventh gen, at least for consoles. And that's not getting into day one patches, fix/update patches, etc. Point being that with the push for digital storage, games get a) shipped out in an improper state, and b) game sizes can become bloated even worse since you can just compress files into an improperly usable format and force an install. Back on the PS3, I imported Okami HD because fuck "digital only in the west" releases, and that not only had a forced full game install, but the way the game data is stored it was basically just the PSN version (with it's own tab the way a digitally downloaded game gets in the XMB, as opposed to just sending the data to the "Game Data" folder), but with the issue that it makes damn sure you've got the disc in it before booting up.

Seen some speculation that such bloated filesizes are an intentional means to "counteract" pirates, but at the same time it could easily just be that when maximum sizes of digital storage can be so much larger than what has to fit on a disc in a directly playable form, devs/porters/whoever stop giving a shit.

Given how "PS2 Graphics" became a recurring media insult back in seventh gen (despite the fact that some PS2 games, especially later ones, could look pretty good for what they were). Unless there's some sort of (most likely) shitty renaissance for sixth gen level graphical output amongst indies, I think at best it would be relegated to handhelds. I remember watching the shitty prequel movie and you can see how the sleek, modern look of the vehicles clashes horribly with the overdesigned costumes, architecture, monsters and made up vehicles. Absolutely no cohesive art direction in place, and watching people smash each other with swords and fireballs when they already invented advanced electronics, combustion engines and firearms is beyond cringe.

It does look pretty inconsistent, yeah, but I'd say 13 was worse. Pretty much nothing in that game followed any sort of even implied logical pattern. It was like playing a bunch of concept art stringed together with battles that play like some kind of demo video for an E3 clip reel.

It felt like that because that's exactly what the game is. The various departments of the project seriously spent years churning out endless amounts of whatever the fuck they wanted. Monsters, characters, artwork, locations, you name it. The resulting game is a hodge-podge of ideas from several sources that had no idea what any of the others were going for.
They had so much left over they were able to shit out 2 sequels in record time by re-purposing stuff that had otherwise been created for nothing.

This game has gone through a ton of revisions and we managed to get the worst version as the final product. I'm willing to bet that the repacks of these will drop the size of this filesize by at least 50%.

Yet the game still has less variety than any other in the series bar the NES ones. Seriously, you start fighting pallet swaps as soon as the second, or maybe third fuck if I can honestly tell, area.

There is no 1060 Ti. 8 GB or RAM is a minimum and will not give you a good experience. Expect to have to play games /or/ use a web browser. Some games won't even work with 8 GB.

I feel like DMC4 is a little bit better. Bayonetta doesn't really warrant an extra playthrough unless you want to show off your skills or go for platinum everything. Plus you can cheese nearly every encounter with the PKP combo and Witch Time. DMC4 gives you a deep inner desire to master Dante and makes you want to play through it over and over again. And SE has even more stuff to play with.

They're both really good though, but I think if I sat down with a choice of both right now I'd play DMC4

2 and 3 are fucking advantages because they mean that if any of those things don't work, you can find a version that does work or make your own. Or, you know, just play a different game because the PC gaming library is absolutely massive and not locked off by a higher corporate power. Also if any of those things go wrong on the hardware side, you can fix them yourself or have a normal repair guy fix them instead of having to be reliant on your console's distributor to fix your shit. Nothing on the level of the RROD has ever happened or could ever happen in a PC market because people would actually be able to fix their shit, and if they bought cheap garbage parts that overheat and melt, that's their own damn fault.
