Total War : Benevolant Edition

I remember those two anons all those years back in /twg/ and /mbg/ wanting this to happen

It's a nice change of setting, but I don't trust CA or Sega to do anything good with it.

Prepare to be surprised.

Also CA are weeaboo, their first TW game is Shogun.

I am pretty sure western adaptation will be superior. But they couldn't even include all clans in Shogun 2.

We already have a Total War thread OP

What's interesting is that apparently in the People's Republic depictions of actual Chinese history aren't allowed and everyone just makes endless amounts of Romance of the Three Kingdoms remakes/re-interpretations as a substitute. This is definitely just made to grab the Chinese audience.

Still actually sorta tempted to pirate it, though, unlike, like, the last five Total War games.

What a fucking monkey's paw; I've been wanting a three kingdoms total war for nearly two decades, but it's going to be the same shitty campaign map mechanics and 5 second battles that R2/Atilla/WaWa/WaWa2 have.

This kills the Koei

So you hated Shogun 2 and Empire? Confirmed for shit taste

Total War has been shit since Rome 2 dropped. Anyone looking forward to this is a retard.

I'd rather have it set during the Mongol invasion, or around the time Japan invaded Korea back in the 1600s, but alas, the only memeworthy period of Chinese history is the 3nd century.

This is fantasy right?

Shogun 2 is a decent game, but it's a bad Total War game, lad.
Empire and Napoleon are hit and miss. I like them for the time period, but that's about it.

Also, get ready for the chink invasion.

Thank you for remembering.
Instead of this, we got Shogun 2 and Rome 2.

Addendum:
It is almost as if they looked at the most popular Medieval 2 Mods and try to build their own shittier version.

we already have a thread.

wonder how will they fuck it up this time, still the player base is braindead enough to not care

I'd rather have it set during Chu/Han dynasties. With playable Qin dynasty. First escalate conflict between Qin and then go into civil war between Chu and Han. Would be good DLC too. A lot of gruesome tortures happened during that period, and great wall built too.

3 kingdoms is by the far the most well-known era of China history, both in East and West.

The only thing more well-known is Journey of the West.

For the first game about China, ROTK absolutely makes sense.

Though if you look at net, barely anybody know ROTK, it's a shame.

Yep, let's make a game about chinese periods that are lesser well-known for the first game in the series, you fucking retard.

It's like wanting the first european total war to be about the Hussite War or something.

...

And yeah, I think China is really embarrassed if it's represented by ROTK, one of the most beloved work of literatures.

To be fair Japan gets the same treatment. It's either the Sengoku Jidai or the "Last Samurai" memery, despite the later being two separate historical events.

Shogun 2 and DLC actually cover all the big japanese era, save for modern times.

I don't think the issue is embarrassment, but that anything past the 16th century will make the government over there mad since it was 500 years of China getting raped by everyone, sometimes simultaneously.

They don't cover the aborted Mongol invasion, nor the far more entertaining attempt to conquer Korea.

>we must appease the chinese market fuck I mean we must show them at their fictional I mean their most besterest instead of risking upsetting that market I mean them!
Fuck off CA employee.

I would play a game about the Hussite War if it was the first in its series too, you fucking retard chink.

Cao Cao poster won't be happy about this.

So is this shit set in reality or is it fiction tier BS?

So the issue here is that ROTK happens to cover one of the most glorious times of China? And CA decides to cover it?

But not everyone, that's the point.

Go on, name a game Hussite Total War vs Medieval Total War and see which would sell better.

These are big events, but they aren't as big as the Genpei war, sengoku jidai and boshin war.

You don't know Romance of the 3 kingdoms?

I don't think anyone really minds ROTK per se, it's just that it is so predictable and ubiquitous you might as well assume there is nothing else in Chinese history to bother with.

Tell me about how much the average Western pigdog knows about China's history.

Uh, that's the point? Barely any westerners even know ROTK, let alone China history.

ROTK itself is incredibly fucking complex, and knowing yourself full of ROTK is already a feat in itself.

Man here I was hoping for Empire 3

How much does the average normalfag know about the history of any country? These are the same chimps that have been fed a healthy diet of pic related for decades, their perception of history is a Marxist fairytale.

I know what the fuck it is, but will it be PRC tier propaganda to pander to the chink audience or will it be accurate?

The thumbnail has the peach garden where the oath was made. It should be clear it's based on the novel.

There was an Empire 2?

It's based on the novel, which would be historical fiction i.e. history with dabbled exaggaration.

It's a video game, faggots.
So is Japan yet you still played Shogun, faggots.

Also the game will not take place in white countries so there will be no black-washing and feminist revisionism like in Rome 2 for example.
Looks promising.

Oops, meant 2

There is neither in Rome 2.

The stupid ass DLC does not count.

I guess you're asking for some WE WUZ.

Like they give a shit where they are shoving niggers into so long as they are being shoved.

CA has balls though, they are one of the rare western devs that aren't BLACKed.

Also, historical accuracy will not prevent niggers from entering your games.

...

One thematic DLC does not show the lack of balls.

They fucked up Warhammer, and you think they'll be able to handle an IP as big as the Three Kingdoms?

The odds are not against you, even the cinematic trailer is trash. Even dynasty warrior seems to be a more faithful adaption of the mythos.

How exactly do they fuck up Warhammer again?

And how is Dynasty Warriors seem to be more faithful than what it is shown, I mean, have you even seen a Dynasty Warriors trailer?

Warhammer simplified the game too much that is where they fucked up..

Trying way too hard to be bombastic and epic.

Not interested

Warhammer TW tries to follow the way Warhammer TT plays.

That's what ROTK is, dude bro.

...

CA is not even the worst example of DLC kikery.

JUST

I would really like a more grounded in reality version of this era like the annals of the three kingdoms, but I think this could work as long as they don't make the lords these monsters who can kill half an army like in warhammer, It works in warhammer because well, it's warhammer but outside of that the generals in ROTK largely just duel eachother with the occasional epic feat of strength.

Chronicles of the three kingdoms rather not the annals.

I really see no point in following the actual history since ROTK is simply more well-told and compelling.

...

I mostly just mean in how the armies work, I don't want overpowered lords that can smash half my army because I feel it makes the tactical side of total war that much more limited.

Of course balance is needed, but heroic combat is mainly the deal in ROTK.

I mean, there are episodes where two heroes go out to duel each other, then the loser side retreats.

WHAT IN THE GOD DAMNED FUCK

really? That's awesome, that's been my dream since the original Rome TW

Britcuck tv is beyond compromised

...

To think I went to bongland when I was little and thought it was wonderful. So sad to see this shit.

Don't worry, I'm sure it will look even more lovely when it's all on fire.

Martin Sellner of generation identitaire made a video about the kind of negging that goes on in Germany, it seems like it's a european wide phenomenon. I think Europe may be lost.

Nah eastern europe is doing fine, west can burn in hell though

has its own problems that keep it from being a truly effective white country, at the very least it's doing OK for now but there is some interference.

christ…how do they explain these things ?

ROTK is an actual fanfic. It's not historically accurate and it's practically fiction. That would be like calling Toto Wa Wa an historic game.

Why? You said no one would buy it because of the it's set in. That's bullshit and you're wrong.

ROTK does follow actual history, it just adds bits and bits of romantization to make the characters more grandiose.

And no one would buy a Total War set in the Spring Autumn period or the Taiping Revolution, heck, barely any westerner know ROTK as it is, they only know it due to Dynasty Warriors.

pls stop

The way he speaks reminds me of the parrot from Aladdin. It's a bit funny but totally inapproriate for the character. Couldn't they at least teach him to enunciate like a normal human being?

It's funny, what's supposed to be a historical documentary has the same cast as an interracial porno.

This. The Yuan Dynasty was best Dynasty.

WE

WUZ

GREEK GODZ

...

It fucks up a lot of stuff that is honestly more interesting to make Shu seem better. It isn't like they don't have a pretty impressive story already and Liu Bei managed to fall to banditry and then work his way back up to emperor claimant by taking over other people's lands.

Its not really talked about, but I got the impression that the soldiers in ROTK were pretty damn undisciplined, particularly during the early conflict.

we literally discussed this some threads ago, when they announced the new expansion and their "unnamed" next major historical title

that being said, I'm looking forward to it, its a pretty cool period and they did a nice job with their last historical games

I also been having way too much chink gaming with pic related
I know they are quite different types of games, but surely the new release will affect it somehow

Get the fuck out of here. Seriously. Get. The. fuck. Out.

Excuse me?

No, I fucking won't. The WH setting was raped and fucked enough by people who supposedly know the way it plays and goes. TWWaWa is an absolute embarrassment to either TW or WH games. It's blander than Atilla and has a smaller unit, mechanic or race roster than your average slav mod.

That last good TW game was Medieval 2. Shogun 2 and Rome 2 were both fucking awful.

It's almost like you have no taste. Empire was great.

If the combat system isn't just replaced with Dynasty Warriors then it's not even worth pirating.

Shitty picture, should be slapping Macha's ass with his GURPS collection and she should be grasping a D&D 4.0 book.

Is that why they released Total War: Warhammer 2 with over $130 worth of DLC, and why Total War: Warhammer 3 is going to have double that? I have never heard of a company ever requiring you to own previous games and content in order to play them in future games and content, so yeah, they sort of redefined DLC kikery.

Clearly you never played DoW

hes a big guy

Is that aris?

anime faggot with shit taste, checks out

What about last ROTK?

they're not making a favor to this game by having it be console shit
it looks mobile trash
which one of these games is actually worth it?

it was a merged map dlc you faggot

you kinda proving his point though

...

ROTK X is a Crusader Kings-like game, where you control the ruler, and the armies separately.
ROTK XI however is closer to 4x game.

A well-educated Chinese chick told me that in school they were taught that Ghengis Khan was a great Chinese leader who helped unify China.

Typical Chingchong tricks, ripping off foreign things as always.

How exactly is WHFB setting is raped by WaWa again?

13 kinda combines both styles, but I don't know how to feel about it.

12 was never translated/localized and should say it all.

I mean, the setting is effectively raped and killed by GW itself, and is sorta revived through CA.

well that isn't that far from the truth to be honest

so these are the good ones? translated I assume?

if anyone wants to join in some actual decent strategy game, I'm trying to get a multiplayer session going on

X was only translated for the PS2 version, while XI has a formally released PC version. Sadly I don't think either come with their Power-Up Kit expansions.

ALLEY OOP IACTA EST
ET TU BRUVE, FILI MI
SENATUS HOODUSQUE BRUVANORUM

hear me now, this is gonna sound like bait, but trust me it isn't

while its hilarious and obvious affirmative action, it should matter none that they cast a black for that role
its not like it needs a true roman person to play the role, even then modern day italians would not be the same
its like limiting for only true brits to play Shakespearean pieces

on another note, ancient rome strikes me being much less racist than nowadays american standards
while its true segregation would me much stronger back in that day, they seemed to see different races with admiration
slavery was not based on race but instead could have from anything, lost and assimilated tribes, or even for paying debts
while honest and useful slaves could even acquire position of power and fame, such as gladiators, they could even gain freedom from labor
for that reason alone is not that far fetched that there could be niggers (and other Mediterranean races) living as true Roman citizens at that time

snow niggers were the nigger niggers of most of Rome's existence

Julius Caesar was never a coon and the Africans that the Romans had contact with were smooth-haired Berbers, Phoenicians, and Egyptians rather than big-lipped nigs. The only points of contact with sub-saharans were the Blemmyes and Aksumites, who themselves were very caucasoid nigs.

No it's not, because Shakespeare wrote fiction and Caesar was a man who actually lived. Pic is what he actually looked like. Deviating far from that image promotes a distorted view of history.

Pic 2 is the closest the Empire ever came to a nig Emperor.

Shame most wops look like that these days.

I don't believe that an actor has to be of a specific ethnicity to play a character in a play, the problem is that these productions are just made to niggerwash the popular culture of Western countries. Can you imagine the kind of shit flinging that would happen if a fucking white man played Othello instead of its intended actor? Or if some ching chong played the victim in a remake of To Kill A Mockingbird?

its a fictional play inspirired by a real character, it doesn't change the fact that is just a fucking play

even so, you can't say the one nigger playing ceaser is the same as sub-saharan nigger

stop getting triggered so easily, you dumb fuck

its a fictional play inspirired by a real character, it doesn't change the fact that is just a fucking play
Lol, you can't even put together a sentence and you call me a dumb fuck. Back to the shed with you.

Fuck off it's produced with an agenda and the fact is wogs have no part in our art or media outright they can go create their own **hahahahahahhahahahaha*.

I actually did want this, as OP as China makes their Generals sound in its literature, I thought the Warhammer 2 engine would be a good fit for it.

But I didn't want Three Kingdoms, there's no fucking way you can do an accurate (literary or historical) Total War: Three Kingdoms game. Fuck, Liu Bei had four different territories before he finally made it to Shu. You know what they could do? Warring States. Could be accurate to history, have a typical Total War setup, it'd be at worst passable, possibly great.

But no, Dynasty Warriors has made Three Kingdoms the only damned possibility. And God forbid you try to be faithful to the novel instead of Dynasty Warriors. I swear, the number of spergs that'll come running out of the woodworks to ree at you if you bring up that it was Liu Bei who talked Cao Cao into executing Lu Bu….

And I fucking swear to fuck if Lu Bu doesn't have a bow in this one… I'll sperg about it on Holla Forums until even these autistic fucks tell me to calm the fuck down, don't think I won't.

Will Lu Bu be in it?

Jesus christ, just dont.

Real characters in plays and media are expected to look somewhat like who they are supposed to represent, i for example would never take seriusly a non-asian ghengis-khan or a white shaka zulu.
But there is an argument to be made here, that romans no longer exist anywhere, just like ancient egyptians.

Im waiting for my black Adolf Hitler. Its just a work of fiction, who cares about accuracy? Lets change the plot too so Hitler was trying to save the Jews but the Americans faked their deaths. After all, honest interpretations of events dont matter

I was just being a stickler for being accurate. WaWa 2 has only 20 bucks of DLC. I also don't think the user ever played DoW which say if you only owned Dark Crusade. You could only play as the Tau and Necrons, not IG,SM,Chaos or Orks.

They were only locked for multiplayer, you could still play all the races in SP and Skirmish.
But still, that was pretty shit back then but I already had the Gold editions with DoW1 and WA before I got DC so it didn't bother me too much.

Didn't Xiahou Dun break a siege killing like 50 dudes in the process?

This shit gotta be a fucking comedy movie or I will fucking end myself

...

I agree, I think warring states would have been a much better fit. When I first heard that they were doing China, I automatically assumed they were going to do something like they did with Shogun 2 and start with warring states then do three kingdoms and Opium Wars expansions.

...

Nah it really wasn't that bad considering you got a race or two plus maps and a campaign per expansion. Plus I think WA was only like 20 bucks when it released. Even Soulstorm was only like 40 bucks.

isn't three kingdoms (non romance) basically warring states period?
and you can forget about generals having super powers and being damage sponges,
historical TW do not have that bullshit,
if they did that, than you can expect a large amount of autistic screeching

isn't that basically the plot of the alternate history post WW2 series?

Fags in TWC are already screeching about muh OP heroes.

What a fucking joke with this fanbase, what is ROTK without the heroism and strong hereoes defining the faction?

warring states period refers to a very set piece of time in regards to China. however, yeah it's pretty similar with a bunch of guys with armies all trying to gain power when the Han collapsed.

It's all about the market, 3K is by far the most widely known piece of Chinese history outside of China. If it does well, it wouldn't surprise me if they went ahead with other periods of conflict in China like the warring states or the mongol invasion

because as I've said above, it not a fucking romance, this is not Wawa playdate shit, its a historical title

my bad, tbqh I really knew shit about china's history until recently,
I'm pleased though, it seems to be quite a awesome piece of history

for quick rundown:
warring states was about 300 years BC, so somewhat egypt/byzantine time
three kingdoms was more like 300 AC, more like Rome time
dumb approximation and comparison noted

The trailer shows it to be Romance to the T.

And Romance is historical fiction, still historical.

I guarantee it's going to be an "inbetween" title, with toned down hero elements, so not as blatant as WaWa but not fully a historical title either

Dude, the trailer clearly shows the new game will be based on RotTK, which isn't historical.

As far as regions go what else is even left for new non-fantasy regions in Total War? China was the last big one that I can think of. Maybe the American Civil War or India? Though India would sell like shit and the Civil War would (unfortunately) be too controversial for Sega if they let you win as the confederates.

How come Wu zetian doesn't appear in this picture, she did so much for china. History is clearly sexist and I'm glad titles like civilization are clearly rectifying this.

I was about to cede there, but on a second look, where in the fucking trailer does it mention being a romance?

The trailer shows events of the Romance, which did not happen.

Historical fans want a new Empire, you know with guns and cannons.

Maybe a more fleshed out Meso/South America. There was no organized warfare to speak of outside of Eurasia and the above.

I think it's like a good 70% chance it's romance.

ignore flag

It is just Lu Bu slashing some mooks, maybe I am densitized by everything related to ROTK but what is so ridiculous about that?

no, the racial makeup of casts is a reflection of the society that they were filmed in, not about the actual film. Which is why Shakespeare only had men play women roles.

Niggers are over-represented in european and american films.

this

what is so romanticised about a few leaders plotting behind there lines
there is exactly nothing fantastical about that trailer
it's not like they shouldn't over produced the trailer for hype, just look at Attila

thats wrong, you think that because you see niggers and it sticks to you more since its different.
for example, if you ask japanese folk how many people in japan are foreigners, they usually reply with 20% or something when in reality its 1.8%.

Niggers should not even appear in european films (unless it is a french film) if that is the case, but there you go.

Way to dodge the question. I don't know why you're downplaying this when you know full well have the press breathing down your neck if you put a white man in a traditionally black role. The screeching of "DAS RACIST. WHITEWASHING." would be heard around the world.

In regards to the game I think it's pretty shitty that they're doing ROTK. To me TW was always about your dudes, your family members being crazy assholes while conquering half the world. I would frequently have one side of the family be horrible, womanizing, bloodthirsty assholes which were amazing commanders, and another side of brilliant administrators beloved by their subjects (with the occasional chivalrous crusader in Med2). Now with Total Warhammer and probably this game that ability to tell personal stories with characters you grow throughout the game has been more or less lost, since they come with established characters and you just walk in their footsteps.

when you know full well you would* have the press breathing down your neck

Thank you for not explaining shit, faggot.

What?

The americas, you could go with either native times, empire era or the independence wars, a bolivar total war would be pretty cool.
Bullshit, the native americans did have actual wars with large armies and such.

I could see a colonial South American or a Native focused game as a Sagas title released after something like Empire 2. I doubt it would ever come as a tentpole historical game as neither probably would sell enough to justify it. Maybe a South American one if Brazil gets its shit together economically and starts obsessing over Total War.

Brazil was never involved in any major wars though, unlike the hispanic countries.
The most the ycould do is the war of the triple alliance, but thats just them overwhelming a small, poor country and killing 90% of the males.

what does one have to do with another?
hueheu here, we indeed have had very little wars, even independence was kinda shit, only a minor urugai war at some time
however what could be done is central america pre colonization wars, Inca empire and all that shit
they did have some juicy history bits, though not that much large scale war and organized military either

I laughed, but it wasn't a happy laugh.

what the fuck man
