Modern version of hammer and sickle

The hammer and sickle doesn't accurately represent the working classes anymore. Let's come up with a modernized version! Bonus points if you can include for service industry workers who are by now the majority.

A frialator and a VoIP phone?

no

official flag of FALC

I'm of the opinion that hammer & sickle has become disconnected from the original ideas but I'm up in the air over whether that's fine (lots of symbols have lost their connection to their origins in most people's minds) or if we really should try to update it. Anybody have arguments for/against?

I was actually thinking about this the other day… I'd opt for the new symbol to involve a wrench. Anyone else agree?

here how about this

I verily regret that my dick isn't that big or has a triumphant upward curve.

♂Oh boy♂

non-slip shoes and a touch-screen register

Since most jobs are mechanized, and will eventually be automated, I feel that a simple gear would make a nice replacement symbol.
That being said, I've always been a fan of communist heraldry.

hmmm

Funny enough, I've never played Gears of War.
If it had to be from a video game series, I'd say that my appreciation of gears come from the BoS in Fallout.
But in reality, I just like mechanical things.

Gears of war has fun couch co-op that had a major influence on multiplayer games, but is otherwise not very remarkable, I just thought I'd share what I noticed.

BoS are technocrats, fam.

Gears look boring as shit though. Scythes are fucking rad and hammers can at least be used to bash a kulak's brain in, but what's cool about a gear?

Hammers and sickles are fine.

Kinda hard to top it, it's one of the best-designed symbols in history.

That said, I do have this offering from an ancient forum.

...

I know. I don't admire their ideology, I just like their aesthetic. That, and the Lyons' Brotherhood "SAVE HUMANITY" rhetoric got me when I was a kid. Imagine my surprise when I got around to playing the first game later.

Huh, apprently the original logo had a short sword as well, but Lenin nixed it. I can't find any images of it, however.

Hammer and sickle should be outlawed tbh.
We need to move forward from the Russian feudal imagery

DAE kids wont know what the save icon is? how will they know what rewind means when they have media that isn't spools of magnetic tape? how will they know what play is when they've never seen a play. how will they know what a rotary phone is?

fact: people can understand simple symbols, and aren't completely retarded about what existed in the past. no one questions swords on military symbols even though armies stopped using swords centuries ago. plenty of socialist symbols are completely arbitrary too, like the 5 pointed star.

...

...

Hope these are separate demands, because the hammer and sickle's function were never intended to be unique to them when created. Like the internationals they were (the original use of the HnS includes a text in 5 different languages), they saw the hammer and sickle as defining capitalism as they then knew it. It's obviously deprecated now, but not because of any relation to feudalism or Russia, but because as a whole, capitalism globally changed.

Personally, my vote still goes to a simple red flag to underline the fraternal basis of the communist movement and timelessness, or Zizek's more trendy proposal.

But Soviet imagery was a break from Russian imagery. And from most international heraldry standards as well. I mean, this was the national flag for a little while.

the anarchist gets it

Save icons and rewind symbols don't represent extremely charged political positions.

Today's groups with the most radical potential in the first world are the precariat who work in service jobs, and the unemployed NEETs.

So, something like this I assume?

The hammer and sickle will prove to be timeless. It is so cleverly designed. Everybody thinks of communism when they see the symbol.

After observing all the completely shit-awful alternatives in this thread, I have a new appreciation for the hammer and sickle.

Not much of a need to replace it tbh but this is a decent alternative

To be honest, replacing it is like all those not-swastikas that neo nazi parties put on their flags, everyone knows it's a knockoff and you won't surpass the original by merely imitating it. If a new communist symbol were to take the place of the old one, it would not be created with that intention.

I made up a quick sort of socialist sigil for you all. The arrows are for decentralization, real democracy, collective societal effort, and coming together into an equal grounds.

This trigger my autism.

but if we draw them to point outward it's heresy.

This is a funny logo, depending on if you interpret the white or the black as the background, it's either arrows pointing to a middle or an decagram with corks stuck on it's spikes.

If it pointed out it would be hierarchal having a central figure and would basically be the chaos magic symbol but we want to form order not chaos. I tried.

We can draw some ideas from SPQR symbolics.

The arrows are for decentralization and the expanding influence of worker's rights

But that one looks like what teachers draw to talk about 3 variable coordinate system.

At least kids in third-world shitholes use them for rioting purposes.

I'm pretty sure the working class these days is represented by the swatsika

the power fist is kind of timeless tbh also not universal to socialism

even dirty socdems use it

*also=although

The one that best convey our ideas would have a slightly sci-fi aesthetic.

this is really nice actually

...

Here are a couple ancom flags I like

Wouldn't the phrase rather be Populi Mundi? Or maybe Operarii Agricolaeque Mundi?

Also I think the axe was a symbol of law in Roman courts, thus an upside-down axe could be interpreted as rebellion.

And what is leftism if not the expropriation of the oppressors?

Here's some other existing ideas.

The axe surrounded by wooden rods was a "fascus" symbolizing law and order and is the root of the word fascism.

the fasces appears in the second picture, its literally the symbol of class collaboration.

I kinda appreciate the juche flag

I like the fact that it also includes the paint brush to symbolize the artist

...

Who cares fascists and conservatives have ripped off the left so why can't the left rip back ?

what are the most menial jobs people do these days? a cash register and a clothes hanger?

make it a spatula and a clothes hanger and we're fucking set

WE WUZ GUYS WE WUUUUUZZZ MUH SALUTE THE ROMANS WERE NEVER RECORDED USING AT ANY POINT IN HISTORY

OH SHIT GOOD IDEA.

...

Somebody please make a photoshop with that design.

K

wokring on it

B A S E D

WE WUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUZZZ MUH ARCHITECTURE GUYS MUH ARCHITECTURE

I knew about the fasces, but I thought the axe alone was a symbol too. My mistake. Still, the upside-down symbolism would still stand.

best i could do. here it is folks, the new symbol of the modern working class

look it even has a slight power fisty element to it

tried something new

thank you for using the photoshop skills i couldn't achieve through microsoft paint

holy shit this is so good

i like this one best

Maybe position the hanger like the sickle in the old flag and the spatula like the hammer?

Pretty bad.

Or rather, BREADDY bad!

You try user. pixlr.com/editor/ is a free java based photoshop clone for your browser. i uploaded the PSD file here you can edit and improve on my idea ufile.io/38fea2

this is so hilariously simple

That pun was so bad it's good.

This

How about this then?

I mean it's accurate but it's too depressing to be a flag.

get a different source for the coat hanger that one is too thin compared to the spatula.

is this better?

I really like this one

looks like you're gonna abort a fetus and then fry it up

Traditionally the symbol was one of authoritarian socialism, and the USSR. Are you wanting a symbol for a new libertarian socialist state, or one for a new authoritarian socialist state? Depending on if you are working for freedom and liberation or control and authority impacts what kind of image you want to display a lot.

Why do the hammer and sickle seem empowering while these convey someone brandishing the objects of their humiliation?

...

best. but it's a little to pink.

I like the first one, but the rose needs some work,

Fun fact: The reason why they made the flag so long at first is that it was a reference to how people would tear the bottom red part of the Russian flag off and use that instead during the Revolution.

the rose is from the pathetic third way dutch socdems unfortunately ; PvdA

Could be a carnation tho.

Because the visceral reality potential danger of a agricultural tools.

Something based on a broken chain could be pretty good. Would be timeless and something different. Maybe have two fists made of smaller fists breaking the chain? What do you guys think?

CPUSA has a pretty dank logo, it's a shame their FBI pozzed.

underrated and very insightful comment

What is that symbol?

underrated.

Why not this?

Made these a while back.

that's basically what you have to do when you're lower middle/working class

holy shit yes please

...

not sure if this is supposed to be a joke but the brush is meant to symbolize the intelligentsia, just like the compass on the GDR emblem

this thread is giving me cancer

Pretty neat.

dude these are all so good. although is this working class or just millennial youth?

throw a dildo in there somewhere and we're golden

just a picture of 2 chainz

I can't read this picture it's in gobbledegook

yeah but the intelligentsia includes artists typically

good.

not all leftists are pacifists my dude

Pascifism is a codeword for anti-worker

The 8-pointed star of Chaos from Warhammer 40k

and the symbol we should be using tbh

Well I dicked around with Russian on Google Translate and the results are

Title: "Most Heretical(?) Table Balls"

Political systems (top-to-bottom):

Liberalism
Monarchism
Socialism
Fascism
Nat.tional-Socialism
Syndicalism
Technocratism
Islamism

Banana and starfruit socialism

Inverted peace sign is used by white supremacist groups.

What about something to indicate the opposite of hierarchy? Rather than a few people controlling/dominating the rest, we have the vast majority of people controlling representatives who are subordinate to them?

Yeah, I saw the white as positive space and black as negative space at first and didn't get it.

maybe it would be nicer if it was more like nabla - ∇ .

Say, that pic is bringing back some memories.

A pyramid is hierarchy but an inverted triangle just comes off as the LGBT symbol. Also confusingly when it's arrows the meaning is opposite. A downward arrow is hierarchy the top down power control. Bottom up for democracy would be upward pointing arrow which could also be for raising the lower class and raising fists in solidarity.

But the masses are only the bottom in the sense that a minority of powerful people are dominating them. If the people get the power they cease being the bottom.

But if you use an inverted triangle the idea is that you've had a revolution and flipped society on its head.

Fuck it ima make one.

Thoughts?

Dont like it to be completely honest. Too shiny and the first hand looks odd.

That might get some gang-bangers onside, which is not as insignificant or useless as it sounds.

hammer and sickle is fine. anyone who is turned off of socialism because of the hammer and sickle are probably people we don't want

DO YOU EVEN RTJ, MOTHER FUCKER?

Can someone make this picture more "communist"? I'm really bad with photoshop.

I feel like we need more representation of the shitty conditions that the bottom rungs of the proletariat deal with. Precarious employment, sweatshop labor, and shit like picking fruit on a farm while surrounded by pesticide.

Not stark enough.

I was turned off of communism because of the association with the USSR and the fact that the only leftist I knew in high school was an edgy tankie. There were several occasions when I considered going and reading the Manifesto and Capital but didn't because I thought of that guy.

What y'all think about this?

Here's some quick and dirty ones.

Looks like ancom fist is about to fight ancap fist, although I get that the fists are supposed to belong to one guy who's ancom and the chains are supposed to be ancap. Putting both blacks on one side would throw off the balance and make it hard to see, while keeping it as is makes it more confusing. Also, we're not breaking out of ancap chains, since ancapism has never existed (because the state is necessary to enforce private property). It would be better if the chain represented a real form of capitalism, bu otherwise I like the concept.

unfortunately the fucking objectivists stole it just like everything else.

I favor a red star. It's generic enough that normies won't instantly freak out but still iconic.

Just being a stickler about this one, in the original design of the presidential seal, the eagle's head is facing toward the olive branches, signifying that the US is prepared for war but prefers peace (LOL). In the version you posted, it would suggest a preference for manufacturing over agriculture, which doesn't carry the impact it could.

It doest imply they necisarily are on bottom just they are the majority going for a goal.

lol

Thats easy

Yeah, it should probably drop the hammer and sickle in general. I just saved it because I thought it looked cool.

I don't know why i was busy with it for few hours, but i did something.

I found this just now
