It's basically the same ending as Adventure only Adventure did it better. They're both undone immediately after, but Adventure doesn't even hint at it being undone, while Tamers does, so the tension is killed right away. Then with Tamers you don't even get the story where they meet again, it just happens before the next entry. In Adventure it's only in an audio drama but it's better than nothing.

I cried at the end of Adventure when I was 10. And again when I was 24.

It might seem unintuitive, but Digimon really starts to make a lot more sense when you consider absolutely everything ever to be canon. Key plot developments happen in audio dramas, and the entire multiverse revolves around the plots of a bunch of games that were only ever released on WonderSwan and will NEVER EVER BE TRANSLATED. There's no reason to say this one particular audio drama doesn't count, when others are essential.

Should have mentioned something about the design choice to have the kids naked when they were one with their digimon as a means to show that there was nothing left to hide between them. It was some good imagery and it was neat the networks didn't pull any punches there, though I suppose that was more acceptable at the time. I've been toying around with the idea of a "totally not digimon" VN that has to do with adulthood, the loss of innocence that occurs while getting older, and the reclaiming of oneself. I like the dynamic between faithful monsters helping their partners grow and wouldn't mind capturing that in a more mature setting. Throw in some action/horror into the mix and I think it could be a pretty neat project.

Xros Wars is good as it's own thing. It is very different from the previous shows and follows a whole different formula. Also power levels are completely remade, which means you get weird shit like Mega level digimons taking orders from champion level digimons. Evolution was also reworked so it doesn't work like in the previous shows.

But for all that is good, don't bother with Digimon Hunters.That shit is beyond unwatchable and only makes Xros Wars look bad through association.

Digimon Universe feels like an extended remake of the Xros Wars Hunters plot, except where XWH was consistently shit until the multiverse crossover in the final arc, Applimon is consistently 'not great, not bad' before suddenly getting good near the end.
There's a lot of wasted potential and some unexpected loose threads, but at least the main cast were interesting.

Digimon Hunters is a complete abomination. I wouldn't mind it at all if it didn't tainted the Xros Wars name by selling itself as a sequel. Not even the crossover could save it. That was one mild interesting thing that happened in the final episode of a series of constantly unwatchable episodes.

The worst wrong with it was that there is a sort of Effort Value super training ability to enhance the base stats of digimon, but it was severely locked down. IE: a stat tops out at 300, but with enhanced training autism, you can get the stat to 400, but the BAR for potential clearly shows it could go to 900+, but you can never get the stat to go farther than that extra 100.

The other aspect was that the end game soon focused on digimon with Piercing/defense ignoring attacks due to the Foe digimon having shitloads of stats that far exceed anything the player digimon can have.

the stat bars in Cyber Sleuth clearly go all the way to 999. like every single other digimon game where that is the maximum stat (1, 2, 3, dusk/dawn, etc.) but the maximum total stat boost that you can get through island training is 100. and that's not nearly enough for the bullshit that are the RKs and the final bosses, so they added the piercing bullshit. which is still NOT ENOUGH to defeat final RKs on hard mode, because even with piercing attacks, RKs get 10 turns before a single one of your digimon gets one. you want to raise your speed? LOL YOU CANT. you want to buff? well too bad because LordKnightmon gets 9 turns before you can even do your first move.

im pretty sure there is a very specific setup and strategy to defeat each RK in hardmode but that doesn't stop the training handicap bullshit from being a terrible design choice. im gonna be inclined to pirate it if they keep that in Hackers Memory.

I got bored partway through Cyber Sleuth, just after infiltrating that one company. Did the gameplay mechanics change much with Hacker's Memory, or would you recommend it regardless?

Most top end difficulties for newer games aren't really checked for balance and tend to just be the previous hard difficulty but with enemies having more stats.
They're designed to slow down turbo autists who overgrind games and then bitch that they're " too easy".

I just CFW'd my old PSP and threw the Re:Digitize fan translation on it. It has this problem where the BGM keeps cutting out after maybe about a minute or two. Sound effects work fine.

What could be the problem here? Bad ISO? An issue with Pro CFW? I've had the ISO sitting on my computer for a while; I don't remember having an issue with it on PPSSPP, but I never did much on it since it was on a tablet, which sucks ass for emulation. I don't think I ever got more than 10 minutes into it.

It doesn't seem like the soundtrack is too spectacular, so it's not the end of the world if I can't fix it. But the problem could be indicative of other bigger problems with the game later on down the road.
