I'm confused as to why meat becomes a fountain and how it is so plentiful it will eventually over fill; why not just have a place where when the meat overfills it flows into a system of pipes that direct it to bottling networks that can have system limitations that prevent meat from flowing to a pipe where there's not a ready bottle, just so you can have two separate conveyors that fill with meat alternatively and allow for package shifting. A Monday is an accessory. I don't know what it does but you can equip it to anyone and it has a passive effect.

ok, here's the story as far as I understand it: MAJOR SPOILERS DON'T LOOK IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED

That kid you see whenever you kill a Zone guardian is Hugo. He is a very imaginative child, and the entire game may or may not be taking place entirely in his mind depending on your interpretation. Hugo made three friends (possibly literally made, again, up for interpretation), each of whom seem to be somewhat fatherly in different ways. These are the Zone Guardians, and they became corrupted over time. By what, it isn't clear, although the most likely explanation is power. He also created a mother and father figure; The Queen and The Batter. The Batter has decided that The Queen has failed to maintain a good world, and that nonexistence is preferable to the horrible existences that the Zones have become. So he sets out to Purify the zones, as well as Hugo (who seems to be basically living in fear of what he has created) and The Queen (who seems to think that this can all somehow be fixed. Whether she is correct in this is, again, up for interpretation, but odds are the answer is no).

No, I don't have any idea where The Judge, Sugar, and Zacharie fit into all this.

I should mention that I'm not a french speaker so no, this is not translated from that page that I don't even know where it is.

It's been a few years since I beat the game, but from what I could gather the most plausible theory (which I believe is more or less confirmed) is that the entire story is a critique against modern society through the eyes of an ill child who is trying to make sense of it. That's where the whole burnout motif of the Elsens comes from, them relying on sugar and meat and the bizarre explanations the game has for those "elements", the doctors being fucking terrifying and so on. In that context, the ending makes it pretty obvious what happens to Hugo.

The stuff I'm unsure about is everything else. The batter and baseball terms (such as the levels being split into zones) could fit into the classical portrayal of a father playing ball with his son. It could be that Hugo wanted to play baseball or has played it before he was bedridden and his imagination is drawing from it. I couldn't figure out the signifance of it though, nor what most of the characters are meant to symbolize. You could make the conclusion that the batter is meant to symbolize chemo and that he's battering the shit out of a poor, bedridden child, but I'm reaching here. There's also details like Hugo holding a piece of meat or the secretaries' game files being under a folder named "babies" that I'm sure hold some sort of significance in this context.

But that's just a theory.

I still think the game is about euthanasia, but that might have to do with the wonky English translation.

That might be the intention. Either way, the title OFF is pretty literal in that sense.

Personally I think that the game was just a story set in a surreal post-apocalyptic world and the game is mostly about the morality of Batter's actions. Is it truly moral to sacrifice other's if you believe that your cause is right? (Even if you might actually be right) This and an euthanasia theme to top it all off, with the meta elements being a way to force the player into asking that question himself. "Was I right in what I did?" and so on and so forth.

I don't think there's an official confirmed interpretation since good authors don't like to ruin fun. But I just remembered I e-mailed Mortis years ago asking whether he's got any personal demons, after seeing he was a fan of SH and in regards to making such a grim game.
