For Honor died within the first few months because Ubisoft, in all their wisdom and kikery, decided to foist almost everything client side, so the whole thing was just an endless string of lag, broken mechanics and cheating. So is free to play dying? Spend last weekend looking at everything that came out recently and there's a huge amount of games that shut down, or had a dead community. It all seems to congregate even more to the big winners instead of more successful offshoots popping up. The whole games as a service with multiplayer focus seems unsustainable. There's only so many communities you can sustain and whales to milk. Doesn't help that whales are gonna go extinct faster if they get burned after their money disappears in a failed game.

What 'games as a service' means is exactly what Battlefront 2 tried to do - you spend $60 for the base game, then you spend $X each week/month/year for the life of the game until the next one comes out. R* does the same thing, and it makes them like $250m+ each year.

Instead, what I see happening is that bandwagon games seem to be dying faster and/or unable to keep up with the market. Look at something like Battleborn or Lawbreakers; both came out about a year/two years too late and had other games eat their lunch.

The biggest xfactor here is what will happen with the 'loot crates are gambling' concerns. If loot boxes get classified as gambling, it's going to mean big changes to most AAA devs who rely on loot boxes for revenue.

its not half bad and they have an expansion-Pack DLC model rather than NEW DINOSAURS ONLY 9.99, the biggest problem comes with them needing desperately to optomize and balance ground dinos to not be nearly worthless without making flyers also worthless.

I pirated fallout 4 and only enjoyed the power armor which felt good like the gunshots ricocheting off it, but was offset by the fact that you need a special unobtanium ingot to power it every 5 minutes. otherwise the game had nothing of value even less so than fallout 3.

Frankly I havent once heard of ghost recon mentioned in the normalsphere which is why its so odd to see it hit platinum for gross revenue, not sure about rocket league and I thought H1Z1 was just a dayz player collector which gained moderate popularity if any.

Brigador came out in 2016 but it's so good and 2017 was so shit it wins GOTY two years in a row.

The game has a fun movement system, is grindy as hell, and the combat is based around tearing through hordes of enemies as quick as possible. There's a PVP mode, but almost no one uses it.

I play SV sometimes, its pretty ok. Yeah balance is an issue, but the devs are pretty good about regular balance patches and speaking honestly with the player base.
