Dude's right. Game is pretty p2w, it's fun, but it's p2w. That said I've never spent any money on this game and just trade decent mods and prime parts to people who do spend money on the game. Surprisingly easy to do.

The only way to make a co-op game p2w is to gate content by making you pay for something needed to complete said content, be it a key to access it or better equipment that is necessary to finish it.
Everything in warframe can be finished with relative ease using a non-prime mag and a mk1 - braton so no, the game is not pay2win, at most is pay2dress up

Sorry but I'l have to dispute that. p2w used to mean content that gave you a unfair advantage that couldn't be achieved without paying. While it is true that you can buy a bunch of platinum and use that on the player market to buy a bunch of prime stuff to get you going from the start, none of that content is locked from free play. Clearly shelling some money has to give you some benefit, otherwise it's not a business model. But paying to save a week's worth of grind is hardly p2w.
Star Wars Battlefront and Destiny 2, on a similar note, are p2w because the amount of time you'd need to unlock the suposedly 'free' content is ludicrous, and unlocking everything without money is prohibitive even.

Back then there was no trading so even if you could have bought it with plat—which you couldn't have, because you had to buy a Founder's Pack which is basically the ancestor of today's Prime Access–you couldn't have gotten the plat without buying it directly from DE.
I didn't know about the special chat channel for high-level founders at that time; if I did I definitely would have scrounged up the funds. DE is good at a lot of things, but game design is not one of them. As a moderately successful indie game designer I look at some of the things they do and go "what the FUCK are you doing?" You can trade in warframe. ANYONE can get sell-able shit (hell farm syndicate rep and sell the syndicate weapons, sell derelict mods, ducat fodder even) and trade your fucking way up. Other than excal prime, you can get fucking EVERYTHING this way. Any frame? Any weapon? Cosmetics? rush builds?

Last but not least, i'd say for a 'total beginner' it would still be EXTREMELY difficult to 'buy power' directly in warframe and hop in and top the charts on a trial. There is a LOT of minmaxing and tweaking and meta-awareness needed to be effective. Not to mention semi obligatory grinding in leveling up items before you can forma them; afaik, you can't buy that. You could buy plat and trade that for sculptures and then buy all the mods you want and max everything, but you're not going to be able to slap them on your MR 0 whatever weapon and frame and use them all until you take those things through quite a few rounds and to do that you need to know what the fuck you're doing to some extent with either THOSE items, or have some other maxed shit to carry those, unless you're just going to leech off of pubs like a shitter repeatedly which would STILL be horrifically inefficient in leveling shit compared to actually killing stuff and doing missions efficiently.

Nigger just level up your other stuff or go play something else. You either care enough about the game that you have multiple things building every day anyway or you're casul and can just do something else for a change.

Even if it's pay2notgrind, it's wrong because even if you shell out cash for prime access, then buy plat to trade for mods, buy pre-built forma, and an affinity booster, you're still going to grind the frame, grind for endo to level up those mods, grind each time you forma something (most frames require at least three forma, most weapons need at least two, so at the bare minimum grinding out a full loadout means nine grind cycles. And that's assuming you're using weapons that don't have gimmick mods or have a riven for that weapon which requires kuva grinding), and grind for credits to trade for that stuff as well as for ranking up mods. Also MR gates. Meaning even if you go full timmy at MR2 you can't use any of it on good weapons until you grind up the various MR fodder. And the powergrinding spots are way ahead on the star-chart but you can get a taxi there so that isn't too much of an issue.

I got Slicing Feathers relatively quickly by running Nekros on ghoul bounties. If you need scans/journal entries/hunter mods you can double up on the farm.

Why are you "farming" argon when you can just run quick captures/exterminates with an Ignis and Loot Radar and hit Argon Pegmatite Caches that spawn? Pegmatite, like Cell Arrays, etc, are guaranteed rare resources when they spawn.

Just run though hepit the level 15 void capture with an ignis blasting everything till you loot the entire place.

I already did them today so I don't have the results I can do some runs tomorrow, but I was averaging 20k per focus orb. That's with a Greater lens on my Orthos and a Eidalon Lens on my Equinox.

As a heads up watch out for the Arc Traps if enemies are near them, when they go off they zap them and make them alerted. It's why im using the orthos I abuse the range to hit them outside their range. A silenced gun works fine im just a lazy cunt.

You get a lot more affinity if you swap to Naramon and abuse the Affinity Spike to boost your melee affinity gains. Using that and an affinity booster it's reasonable to keep 60k per orb on rooms that have dense enemy spawns and 20-30k on rooms without them. Power Spike helps when you set up rooms as well as you don't have to constantly kill to prevent your combo counter from getting fucked.

I dunno man, I have two Eidolon lenses and a Smeeta, and 20k is on the lower end for my Adaro runs, with 40k being on the upper, and with a cat butt obviously even higher.

I haven't personally farmed focus yet, how does one maximize your focus intake?

Also for silenced weapons I totally recommend the baza, it's a beast and it's auto silenced.

I'm of the opinion that warframe is technically "pay to win" if we consider winning reaching the ultimate destination of warframe's journey: getting frames, weapons, etc. the fact that the prime pay ceiling is so high and the farming for some prime items can be so excruciating really brings this point home. However, it doesn't matter in the slightest because warframe's pvp is basically non existent. I simply don't care that other players have an advantage over me because it can't really hinder me in any way. Pay to win only really has its negative connotations for me when the "win" condition requires that I lose. That being said, I pity the whales who think you need to spend money to thrive in this game.

What game did you work on? From a game devs perspective, how would you change warframe? Personally, I think the changes they make are not always so much bad (though there are horrifically apparent exceptions- looking at you star map), but it's frustrating to watch them reinvent the wheel every major update, like with changing keys to relics, when there wasn't really anything wrong with the original format and there were many other areas for them to focus their energy.

Is there some kind of special trick to getting the mining resources? I mean I did a solid hour of solo fishing/mining. Most of it running around looking for mining nodes, and the end of it was fishing and I got like 200 scales/oil worth of fish when converted + various mats, and like 60 coprite, 40 pyrol, 30 fer, 20 aurox and like 10-20 of various gems (only devar, vertios, azurite)

And that's not even enough to build all of the components for my 'first' zaw. I understand that I have the noob tier mining cutter, and I'm working towards next faction level so I can get the better ones, but is this basically all there is to it? Is there any special strategy? It seems like there are sometimes clusters of mining nodes in caves but the most I've ever seen in one 'general area' is like 4-5, otherwise it's a lot of running around waiting for the thing to start beeping. Do the better cutters give me MORE minerals per node than the starter one? Or just decrease the sway and increase radar range? Are there any good mining 'spots'? other than just searching random rocks and caves? Is there any way to get these mining 'resources' without actually mining? like some special types of missions?

I just unlocked the fetal alcohol syndrome kid and i know that their builds work differently than tenno. Are there guides on how to build them? i don't want to waste time and resources in a game that basically punishes you for experimenting.

mining only becomes tolerable once you have the advanced mining tool which does away with the michael j fox tier movement and adds large mining radar. mining is the only way to get ores which is a huge fucking pain. quantity over quality so dont worry too much if you dont get a good cut because the amount of extra mats you get is not worth it. if you are doing bounties or fishing and see a blue vein, make sure to mine it cause those are the rare ones.

Farm nekros/nekros prime as early as possible for resource farming, and get nova for a negative strength build to speed up leveling on infested defense

What are some good builds for Ash and Chroma? I have them gathering dust in my inventory and heard they can be pretty good.

Ash you want a little of everything, but mostly duration, with range being you throwaway.

Chroma has a few builds depending on the role you want and the energy color you pick, but most common is ice tank chroma. For him you need health and armor, as well as maxed duration and strength and throw away efficiency and range.

The weapon that completely trivializes the game is MR2 and is insanely easy to get the components of. Maiming Strike is optional.

Optionally you can get 120 platinum and just buy it.

Use blood rush and a combo mod of your choice. This applies for every crit weapon.

Blood Rush and Weeping Wounds give you the Crit and Status you need. Also if you're not using (Primed) Reach you're doing it wrong.

You do know that after initial stumble QT gives you a window for free action before stunlocking you to death right? It can be used for smoke screen or rolling. It saved me way too many times to not put it in.

I oneshot light units and twoshot heavies at level 70. I decimate eximuses in less than one combo unless it's some arctic or guardian one, and dual swords have large enough combos to swipe all around me.

You've got three health mods, redirection, rage, and QR just to not get wiped out. You know what you'd need for Ivara to not die? Primed Continuity and maybe streamline. You can then invest the remaining five slots towards actually being useful with things like CC, and cloaking allies without having to be right next to them, and not be a braindead meleefag.

Rhino can achieve an easy 25k on his iron skin and still be able to buff himself reliably. He can tank using his abilities.

You only pick up Ashes that ape meta builds with augments for shuriken/bladestorm/tp, which are all terrible and useless outside of simulacurum. Bonus points for having red and black color schemes.
Ivaras and Lokis are always fragile no matter what you do to them. They are good for carrying shitters, but they expect support in return.
Proper EHP Ash is lonely driver that don't need no one and can still carry a squad.

I was wondering if I could salvage this build somehow, and here's my attempts. Salvage 1 swaps out most of these ridiculous survivability mods (on an invisibility frame of all things) for things you might actually want, like a long Smoke Bomb duration and armor stripping with Seeking Shuriken.

Salvage 2 is just going along with it and trying to utilize the strengths that the Gladiator set can bring despite the shitty stats you get in order to make up for the set bonus. Companion Dual Ichors because of the high crit damage multiplier. Life Strike could be swapped for Organ Shatter if you want more crit damage.

Because after 40 mins there are squads of heavies under nullies bubbles backed up by healers storm you from all sides.
And since I play sword alone I spend most of my time under nullies' bubbles meaning I can't use abilities.
So strip armor with corrosive and CP instead, adding condition overload in to make sure I kill heavies fast.
Chances are people triggered by this build don't realise that it's a specific anti-nullifier melee build, that works everywhere else because everywhere else spawns low level mobs that can't even get past my shields anyway. Or just shitpost for fun

I hated melee 1.0 and returned to the game after they reworked it and ended up liking new melee system a lot.
I use guns only when absolutely necessary, like during eidolon hunts or firearms-only sorties.
Stuff like armored agility, regular vigor and redirection is indeed disposable, bust since I don't even use my abilities, even invis is a rare thing, I dunno what to put in there.
So I just go for higher EHP. And with sentinel shield renewal mod it's still 2k shields, good enough to run away from stray bullets.
I wanted to use channeling armor mod, but it turns out it only works when you channel, but don't block, i.e. never.

I fucking hate DE and their "farm this side thing in order to get a shot at the thing you're actually farming for". It becomes even more of a pain when you're accessing dead content no one is farming anymore. I spent fucking ages on Yam completely alone for the entire mission and my Rhino with 4.3k iron skin started getting 1 shot because of fucking lvl 100 enemies.

If you have Covert Lethality (or something to a similar effect) that's a targeted instant kill for a group of enemies. Also it's fun

You only lose judgment points when you successfully kill Kela de Thaym, and you only lose 12 points despite needing 25 to access her node.
So what you can do is clear the mandatory first node (free to enter, rewards 10 points), then complete the second node (needs 10 points to enter, rewards 50). After that you can alternate between killing Kela and running the second node repeatedly.
For doing that stuff, I just play Valkyr. But playing Valkyr is pretty much my answer to everything in this game.

Nova has certainly a more "petite" body but her skins in general make her look great for me, hell, for a long time the meme was trying to give her ponytails and the like, slipstream helm does it but her head looks way smaller than her regular one, the prime helmet gives her a better head size and basically gives her a "Chun-Li" styled head silhouette.

Valkyr Prime's face is atrocious! the only decent helmet is the cat one and one of the tenno gen out there, Trinity Prime looks OK but still has those horrible baseball player legs, I got her the alternate skin where she looks even more alien-like but there are no good attachmnents to combine with her upper body.

On the other hand, I think I will just retire Nekros for good, I was considering his prime but in all honesty his design was never appealing and his abilities are not that great for me, Excalibur seems to be OK as long as you properly build him, well, as far as he may be able to go which isn't very far, I am keeping Rhino Prime just in case, also I got Octavia and I just need one more component for Nidus.

If you have arcane helmets (the alt helmets that give a stat trade) a few of them like Rhino Vanguard can fetch a crazy price. Most are junk though.
As for relics just write a list of all the parts you have or could open, then do some searches for '[itemname] price' to see what you could get for them. Frost, Ember and ???* prime frames are being unvaulted for a time this month so the price for them and their associated weapons is going to take a hit.

Played her in a few missions and they actually fixed up her Peacemaker after the initial butchering of it after release. I think she's fairly fun to play now. I put in continuity instead of Intensify.

I read up on what affects Peacemaker, but what makes it really good? It has decent crit chance and multiplier, but you can't affect it with increased status chance mods.
Here is me throwing in a bit of everything. I was thinking that Magnum Force might actually be excellent for a Peacemaker stick but it's rarely the best choice on many secondaries so I don't have one maxed out yet. Wanted second opinions on the mod before I spend resources on that shit.

Magnum Force is essentially worthless now with the release of Augur Pact, which just gives 90% secondary damage with no downsides while being a 7-drain bronze mod. I used to run a strength build on her until realizing that for almost all content you don't need it with how much Peacemaker inherits stats from her secondary. Ignore the number of formas on Mesa as I've had her a while and have forma'd and re-forma'd her as things have changed. A nice trick is using Dual Toxocyst and getting a headshot with it before swapping into Peacemaker, Peacemaker will benefit from the buff that the Dual Toxocyst puts on you.

Things that can be swapped on the range build: Streamline for Fleeting Expertise. Vitality for Augur Reach, etc etc. I use her a lot in plains and you get frequently teleported/drop-podded onto so I feel like the Vitality helps quite a bit.

It basically is, it works well in this specific interaction with Mesa but most of the time I find it to be very irritating to use because of its horrific fire rate outside of headshots and the buff it gives. Currently it hasn't been patched to be like Knell which refreshes its buff every time you get a headshot during the buff's duration, so you inevitably go back down to slow, slooooooooooooooow firerate. Putting Gunslinger on it and/or using it with Harrow can fix that, but Harrow's fire rate+reload speed+crit chance buffs can fix most rough guns.

Not really. If you could just refresh the buff on headshot it would be perfectly fine, and the fire rate buff alone really does help on mesa.

as somone who hasn't spent a cent on this game, i have over 2000 "platinum" and almost every frame in this game, and all of the weapons (not including archwing) except maybe 10.

i wish. they got closer by letting you post some of what youre selling. but its stupid and i have no idea why anyone even bothers. spamming the trade chat is more efficient.

i have better luck headshotting infested with melee attacks.

Lex Prime still scales fine through most of the game and has a fantastic noise, but because it's crit-based and not status-based, if you're not running a 4x Corrosive Projection squad you're going to have issues vs Lv. 100 Bombards/Heavy Gunners since you can't strip armor fast enough. The reload speed is old-style, which means it's too long for a secondary, but it's tolerable once you get used to it. Depending on your MR, there's other secondaries you can use as a weapons platform that would serve you just as well.

The lex's status is just fine. With all the multi shot pistols get and two dual stats I have around 75% chance on it.

I heard the point of Rivens is to give low tier weapons a chance to shine, so far I see little reason to invest in getting them.

my main secondaries for high level missions are kulstar for PoE. twin rogga for any close range map. and ak stiletto prime with a hybrid build. all of these shred corrupted bombards above level 100 except maybe kulstar, but again, i only use that on PoE and usually only if i'm downed, need AOE, or from archwang.

It just strips too slowly. It has relatively slow fire rate, a small magazine, a long reload time, and all of these things together mean that it just won't strip armor with Corrosive procs at the speed you want to make your damage matter vs higher-level heavy units, let alone quite a lot of them. Of course, this goes entirely out the window with damage amps Rhino's Roar, Octavia's Amp, any natural armor-stripping like Seeking Shuriken, high-power Frost Avalanches, etc, but those can scale up other weapons as well. I still frequently reach for Lex Prime as it has a better feel and sound than many other secondaries in the game, but it does have its tradeoffs.

a good riven on a weapon with high riven disposition can make it extremely OP.
my twin krohkur with a good riven are easily better than any melee in the game.
against a level 145 corrupted bombard, it dies in about 3-5 hits and the riven gives it +80 attack speed which makes it faster than nami skyla primes with fury, but not maxed berzerk).

farming kuva is a huge annoyance. i pretty much just wait for the 6k sortie prize unless i feel like playing a kuva flood. they need to fix it to make it interesting. maybe allow the syphon to collect kuva then break it closer to the end to get more, which would make sense since it would have collected more kuva. or maybe do endless missions where it pops up every 5-10 minutes/waves whatever.

honestly youre better off just selling the vailed mods. primary and melee easily sell for 25-30, shotgun rivens easily sell for 60, and pistol easily sell for 20. tthen use that money to just buy a riven of your choice. you'll likely make 200-300p before actually unlocking one of the rivens you'd actually want. then you can just buy it.

just check riven disposition, anything below 3 isnt worth getting unless somsone already rolled amazing stats and is selling it, but good luck paying under 500-1000 for that.
just look at this tigris riven. not even as good as a 90% elemental mod but uses 18 capacity. crazy thing? i rolled mine close to 30 times now and its actually worse than pic related. it adds 45 multishot and 100 crit, but has a negative to slash. and that's the best i've rolled, the others were straight up negatives.

Having all animation sets for any frame makes it quite nice for some, but stuff like Mirage unarmed idle pose is broken in some areas, then we have Gara for the females.

I haven't been able to figure out how to price an unveiled riven so I just sell the veiled like you say but I always have that thought in the back of my mind saying "that could've been the 2k riven i needed".
As far as using them myself, I'm sure they are good(otherwise people wouldn't waste plat on them) but "normal" mods work just fine.
I mostly use the tigris and I can either one-shot something or I can one-shot something even more.

I thought about spending some of my platinum on the ember stance, but I don't know if all of them transfer to other frames.

the 2k rivens are never rolled off the bat. i'm at riven capacity and my only good rivens i've had to purchase the regular way. i have been able to sell my unvailed rivens for 50-100p each, but i had to hold onto them and spam the trade channel to get that, and that doesnt count the 10 i've had to junk to make room because i hit capacity. i would have made much more money just selling them vailed.

The stance sucks and they have no range, but if you really wanna shred one guy in particular they're good. You want condition overload and viral cause of the slash procs, and then add as much crit or status as you prefer.

I agree the stance has some quirks that I don't quite like even for a female frame, I hope we get more later.

If you have Ember Prime built for WoF strength and efficiency plus a Broken Scepter on a Corpus mission, you can trivialize the entire thing by just dashing around in circles around the map.
Regular Ember works too but then you might need to actually attack things

build and gild a zaw. imo, go with Mewan heavy blade (high dmg, low speed) and then flavor grip and link to taste. i made one using the +crit/dmg -atk speed/status counterweight vargeet ruhang II i think? and i think it was the balanced Laka grip, and it has something like 52% crit chance with only True Steel, so building Blood Rush + Berserker means you can score orange or red crits pretty quickly.

alternatively, there's Broken War, but i think 1h zaws, built correctly, are objectively the best 1h swords you can get in game atm.

4 or 5 forma Braton Prime, Tenora with 1-3 forma, Soma Prime with 1-3 forma, Supra Vandal with a solid riven and some forma (especially if you play as Mirage), Prisma Grakata with 3-5 forma.

it's an impact version of Galatine. they're both about on par with each other in terms of dmg/stats. but Galatine Prime is the better weapon hands down, and likely easier/cheaper to acquire. so in a nutshell, War is mastery fodder.

like, for focus? or are you talking leveling shit up? for leveling i use either akkad on eris, xini on eris (doubles as neo/axi relic farm) or hydron on sedna. for focus farm, the hotness has been adaro on sedna with a long range melee weapon and a sleep-based frame like sleepquinox or sleepvara.
