“There are lot of people who think socialism and communism are a good thing, and those who have lived it and experienced it know how bad and monstrous it is,” said producer Ian Ihnatowycz, whose ancestors escaped from Stalin’s purges to Canada while they still could. “You can only enforce communism at the point of a gun because people resist.”
Estimates of the death toll of the “Holdomor” are in the millions by the time of Stalin’s death in 1953.
Also they say this is "one of Russias best kept secrets" feels like they are bringing anti-russo BS into this.
Looks pretty low budget tho.
The film comes out tommarow - any of you gonna see it?
Kayden Thomas
It's not a hoax, don't go full retard. a famine did occur directly because of confiscating food from peasants.
Question is, was it actually worse than the russian federation ukraine.
James Ward
use the correct flag next time Holla Forums

How about we send a letter to Stephen Kotkin to review the movie?

WE WUZ KIEVAN RUS
Jacob Gonzalez
Do people even realize that "Ukrainian" identity is completely made up and artifical? It's a fascist myth about the Indo-European homeland with its endless wheatfields.
Cossacks and Kievan Rus had shit to do with an Ukrainian identity.

The holodomor happened you fucking retards. The movie is made by the kids of people who escaped it by fleeing to canada.
Aiden Martinez
Its a good reality check for commies. The documentary about maoist famine in china was a eyeopener.
Andrew Wood
yeah this is pretty much a documentary right
Tyler Ortiz
Ignore the tankies.
Film name?
Blake Watson
"Soviet starvation program" What a load of bullshit
Joseph Murphy
No one ever seriously denies a famine happened, but every communist with have a brain denounces nazi propaganda about it being an intentional ethnic genocide.
Levi Jones
The starvation and mass death of people really happened, but it wasn't "Soviet starvation program", it was because collectivisation was brutal, Stalin wanted money for undustrialisation, and he was to sacrifice a lot for it. It wasn't ethnic cleansing programm
Jayden Ortiz
It was not so much and ethnic thing. Correct. Stalin wanted to purge troublesome bits of society so he could achieve full communism. Of course these areas just happened to be formerly anarchist Ukraine. When the government controls food production they can immense power over the people. It was cheaper to just not let them have food than it was to put a bullet in them. And it looked better politically because then the government could just say "they starved! We didn't kill them!" plus the government controlled all information, so that part was easy.
Christian Green
most major movies have the CIA involved at some level so this is no surprise
Ryder Davis
Tbh this sounds anti Russian propaganda because while I'm not pro Stalin by any means it seems suspicious to me how a film about Holomodor is coming around the same time that there are US tanks around eastern Europe. It seems suspicious how this film is coming right after the US funded Ukrainian nationalist to fight with Russians. It seems suspicious to me. I know that the current president wants to have better relations with Russia, but the majority of politicians and there's a lot of people in America that still have the Cold war mindset despite the fact that the Soviet Union does not even exist anymore. Not only that, but things seem even more suspicious since the main character in the plot joins a Ukranian "rebel" group to fight the evil Russians and how the filmmaker straight up attacks Putin in his interview. It's almost as if there is some analogy about how Putin treats Ukraine and how Stalin treated Ukraine. I can't be the only one that sees this. Just this whole movie is screaming that it's anti-Russian propaganda at me. Everything about this movie is suspicious.
Jaxon Lopez
haha all these Holla Forums cucks baiting with this Nazi propaganda.
Zachary Nelson
Its crazy how devoted they are literally arguing with people for dozens of comments and claiming they are ethnically Jewish.
There logic is also so ridiculous they simultaneously talk about the "holohoax" while simultaneously advocating for doing the same thing today.
Noah Wright
This is true, but there actually was poor weather conditions, as well as the soldiers being given such vague authority that they were essentially able to run wild and do whatever they wanted to those pesky kulaks.
You meant peasants. Dekulakization campaign was basically mass-ostracism.
Jason Cook
Even if we assume the Holodomor was exactly like everyone assumes it was, to say that it's the logical conclusion of all "socialist" politics is beyond dishonest.
Liam Ross
this is going to be shitty oscar bait isn't it ?
Hudson Ross
The message is going to be that guys like Bernie Sanders are too radical and we need to learn to love the porky cock being rammed in our ass because a famine happened decades ago. So same shit different day.
No it's too low budget. I'm willing to bet it's going to be like Atlas Shrugged and fail miserably but be worshiped by edgy conservatives who think liberals sabotaged the market to make it under perform.
Luis Ramirez
Fuck off

i bet shortly before its release they will get hacked by "the russians" and it will be all over the news. all over the Fact News™, i mean.
somehow though i fear this time we won't get an interesting leak of incriminating documents out of this, like when "north korea" hacked sony.
Samuel Bennett
they've been doing that shit for years, can't criticize Russia as a capitalist nation, that might make people think capitalism has flaws.
Robert Fisher
The Eternal Trot is at it again
Benjamin Reyes
They were kulaks
Jaxon Sanders
Yeah, judging by ukraine posters on Holla Forums the narrative is that USSR and current corrupt capitalist russia is the same thing. Gulag misses them dearly. I am not even a fan of putin, that's just a shit show.
Mason Fisher
What Holodomor?
Robert Morales
Kulaks trying to keep capitalism alive and comrade Stalin putting those criminals in their place.
Justin Miller
Kulak is Russian and means "fist" I wonder, how these fine gentlemen got this name.
Cameron Wilson
kek
Nathaniel Long
Alright, I've already overdosed on ideology with the first sentence of this shitty trailer. Born as a poor peasant into TSARIST RUSSIA constitutes being born in a country where anything was possible?! Why the fuck did they even have a revolution then? Everyone woulda been happily frolicking in those lovely fields taken straight from the Shire. Christ, this isn't even subtle propaganda.
Luke Bailey

Jack Williams
Drop the flag already. You've taken shitposting to far
Nathan Barnes
Wrong.
Alexander Nguyen
Is doing nothing to stop it really better than doing it on purpose?
Jordan Reed
Yes, do you really have to ask? Also, they did everything they could to stop it, there really wasn't enough food, and famine was common as f throughout Russian history prior to collectivization.
Jose Davis
Well by that metric, the massive famines in the British Raj kinda get a pass too then.
A very common accusation I hear is that during the famine years, the USSR was actually exporting grain. A lie, I take it?
Oh I'm aware of that. I've read somewhere that one of the reasons Stalin picked a 5 year timeframe for the plans is because it was roughly the cycle of Russian bad harvests. Still, there hadn't been a famine since the early 20s, had there?
Adam Wright
Nah his age literally comes out to Tsarist Russia.
Put down the anti-communist conspiracy crackpipe lad. Whoever you read makes Robert Conquest look like an objective and balanced scholar rather then an MI5 agent and systematic liar.
Landon James
how come so many jews were involved
Hunter Hernandez
How reliable is this Striakov guy? Also, the basic question: wouldn't it be possible to delay industrialization by a couple of years and use the grain to feed the peasants?
Anthony Jones
Taught argued it was an absolute famine as in there was no food available to avoid starvation. They tried to buy grain from Iran with gold but it was a case of too little too late.
Considering that the Nazi war machine was pummeling Russia just 8 years later I'd say that industrialization could not be delayed a few years. The Soviets only beat the Nazis at an enormous human cost without the material base to outproduce the Nazi war machine they might not have made it…
Nathaniel Johnson
they've made movies full of lies about the holocaust too. Those fucking 🍀🍀🍀liberals🍀🍀🍀
Liam Harris
*Tauger
Hunter Diaz
Maybe a slower industrialisation combined with NOT murdering the entire officer corps would have worked too.
But wasn't there enough grain to be sold in the first place?
You're right, but that's with hindsight. At the time, the famine was the clear humanitarian crisis.
Charles Butler
how is that possible?
Michael James
I hope there's an Armenian Holocaust movie next.
Colton Garcia

Stalin's vile necromancy is revealed at last!
Nathan Thomas
Your entire argument was hindsight and monday-morning quarterbacking.
Ezhov deserves a great deal of the blame for this. As for those high-ranking army generals that Stalin and Beria themselves had shot, there was a reason for that: they were likely involved in a coup to overthrow the USSR/undermine it when the Nazi invasion began.
Tuchachevsky's confession to the NVKD has been kept secret for decades and is still a state-secret in modern capitalist Russia. The only people who've been allowed to see it are people who were convinced anti-communists and even they came away thinking he was guilty despite believing in his innocence initially.
So if the "real woke truth" is that "Stalin was bad mkay?" why don't they release the documents on Tuchachevsky? Its a mistake to think the Russian state is somehow pro-Stalin, the "Secret Speech" given by Khrushchev in 1956 was on par with almost any Western anti-communist screed, now they don't maintain the fiction of communism. Now and then you hear people like Putin and those in his circle crying about le 20 million why doesn't he have the state release more documentation proving that Khrushchev was right and Stalin was bad?
We can only conclude that it doesn't exist or their afraid such material would vindicate Stalin.
Luis Martinez
The Tsars don't even want the land & people to be called Ukraine in the first place. It's Malorossiya because we're all Russkiye, including you hohol.
Evan Bell
What? They had reports of severe shortage of grains in the very regions that produced them. You don't need hindsight for fixing that.
