So I want to get into the stalker series. What game should I play first? Should I get any mods?

What's the optimal play experience?

Go innawoods in the Chechnya forest yourself and try to survive

If only vodka and potatoes would help me innawoods

Shadow of Chernobyl vanilla first, then Call of Pripyat and then either AMK or Autumn Aurora 2.
But if you have funs then

Is clear sky any good?

Also general stalker thread I guess

get at least a bugfix mod like zone reclamation project

It's decent from what I've heard, but not as good as SoC or CoP.

I didn't recommend any because I haven't gotten a buggy experience with vanilla. But yeah, better safe than sorry I guess.

what about a community patch for SoC? Which one would you use? If there is multiple

There is a dedicated Stalker thread over here you stupid nigger.

No.

Clear Sky as a game is shit, but I always pick up the CS armor in CoP for a reason.

too bad reddit can't figure out the fucking catalog

"want to get into the stalker series, what should I play" could honestly become a sticky at this point

The first one, obviously.

It's a big farting balloon compared to SoC. You should just play it through in order, breeki on forward and then probably cheeki around with CoC. For SoC, your first taste should be with really nothing or just ZRP. Once you fully live the life, maybe start looking into dumb mods that break shit. My first run I got to the end with nothing but 1.4 on a pirate copy and then got ideas. Presently, I've just been playing with Autumn Aurora to sort of get back to basic.

Yeah, it's a shit thread but I'm not going to leave it a 1/10 wipe.

SoC, obviously.
Unless the game is unplayable/terrible without mods, you always go vanilla first.

Sage because duplicate thread.

Bullshit. If you don't go skyrim vanilla the first time you don't do it for SoC. Mods improve the game, so improve it.

I guess it's going for a -10/10 then.

Skyrim is a dull, buggy pile of shit that's only good for porn and scamming idiots. SoC not only works without mods, but it's actually fun without them. Mods should be done on a second playthrough, when you know what you want to change and what you want to stay the same.

debateable.

Naturally.

play in release order vanilla+patches if needed, no mods.

Funny vid, but it's retarded in the first place to have an anime about guns and shooting but without any blood and gore.

OP, I did this a couple months ago, played SOC for the first time with a ZRP mod to bug fix. After a couple hours, I added a mod that improved dynamic lighting and that was a really nice addition. Play on the hardest difficulty.

It's a really good shooter but I'm not feeling the level of awe the rest of Holla Forums shares. The most compelling part of the game were the first hours. I had a sense of vulnerability and it was fun to play blind. I also had this stupid Fallout expectation I'd have to pick up a million pieces of bullshit from every desk drawer and I was happy there's very little looting besides ammo and some foodstuffs/medkits off dudes you kill.

I got more lukewarm the more I played and I'm not even sure what it is. I think my total ambivalence to the story and characters made the world a lot less interesting once I had good guns and could kill anything. Not to put you off it though. It's certainly worth playing. Just temper your expectations.

Started my first playthrough around the same time and finished it in about ~43 hours over a month. It was comfy as fuck, I only wish CNPP struck me with the same awe I used to feel about the exclusion zone.
The first few hours were enjoyably challenging, though I felt the game actually held up in the shooter department all the way through the end.
Also look for the fucking stalker thread you quadruple nigger goddamn

Watch the vid or not, I don't give a fuck.

The real question is what difficulty do I want to play on
