How do these people exist? Every so often i will be looking at new info about something like Monster Hunter World and see a comment like "this interests me, but i only play WoW is it worth playing anything else?" and not just once either.

You might not realize it, but that's how most "gamers" are. They only ever play a couple of games/genres that suit their tastes. Most of the modern gaming audience can be divided into a couple of big categories. They mainly play these genres and only ever buy a few big mass marketed games here and there if at all. The thing with those games is that once someone gets into them, it's really hard to let go of all the time and effort you put into the game and gitting gud at it, and you keep playing as a form of habit and also because you genuinely feel a sense of progress over the long time you spent playing it, learning all the game's quirks and yet there's always more to discover or some sort of autistic skill to improve.

So they're not a gamer. Not because they only played one game, but because that one game is Wow. World of Warcraft is not a fucking game. It's a calculator with graphics. Evey battle comes down to who has the biggest numbers; stats, abilities and items.
The combat is a joke. It requires no reflexes, fast thinking or tactics. It's just "Do you have a higher number of stats than the chunk of meat that you're going to grind down? If yes, then proceed. If no, grind weaker meat chunks". Standing there waiting for my abilities to cool down was like playing a dumbed down turn based strategy, except with no strategy. You grind to get better gear and you get better gear to grind.
What content? Differently flavors of your dungeon creep? The same 3-5 quest types but with different flavor text? The literally 10s of character builds you can make that can put out enough DPS to be worth the man hours of grinding?

I genuinely don't understand some people on how simple things are difficult. A lot of people apparently had difficulty with Ardyn in the Extra Verse boss battle in FFXV: Episode Ignis, when all I did was hold down R1 and square to attack. Kept my thumb on the right stick if he warped. Its timed at 4 minutes but I melted him in 1, some people literally cant hold down two buttons.
I become less frustrated with people not being able to do simple things when I realize that they simply are unable to create the logical chain between their actions and the results - i.e. not understanding how combos or dodging works via a series of keypresses. Of course, that is an indicator that they are quite retarded, at least in this regard, but at least I don't get nearly as mad. The same applies to people being lost in 3D environments, because their spatial awareness sucks due to lack of practice and experience.
Sunk cost fallacy is one of the most common irrational motivations a human can have. "I want to play other video games… but I've invested 1000 dollars in sub fees alone on this game." Unfortunately for many weak minded normalfags this one mental exercise is enough to keep them from playing any other game and even lash out at those who suggest their game is in terminal decline.
