Guess the vidya music

It's been a while since we had one of these. Put your music or any kind of game audio in a webm or mp4 and post it for others to guess. Image hints not necessary. Make sure there's no revealing metadata.
1. ffmpeg command you can use: ffmpeg -r 1 -loop 1 -i [drag image to cmd window] -i [drag audio to cmd window] -c:a libopus -c:v libvpx -shortest [name here].webm
I am not an expert with ffmpeg so if you have a better command, post it.
2. Use your ffmpeg GUI like webm for retards.
3. Use this: ez-converter.com/

excellent taste

4th one, that's right.

Yeah, I'm not gonna guess any of those. Some of them sound familiar and I could maybe at least guess the system, but that's it.

Here's an easy one (if you played the game, ofc).

3rd is nu spelunky, sounds like a remix of the first layer theme so im guessing its the first layer ghost theme

Ah, Raptor: Call of the Shadows. ratatatatatatatatatata

9 is Dead Rising.

here's one

Oh and the last one seems to be Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 3

Hope this turned out okay

First one is heretic, the cathedral. I love that game.

First track in OP is definitely from Heretic. E1M7 if I remember correctly.

World ends with you.

3 minutes clapping >

It's transformation m8.

Absolutely correct.

Nice try, though.

yes, it's the temple theme

correct

I think he meant 3 minutes clapping > transformation.

6 is the TV from The Sims.

I think these work.

but why bother when twister is the best thing off the ost?

Here's a couple for you faggots to guess.

My dude.

aye

"easy mode" is Page One so is the game

Here's another one

Number 3 is Map Theme for Plok.

Second is Meat King's Party

...

I'm confident that the second one is from Splinter Cell, though I don't know which one. My guess would be the original or Pandora Tomorrow.

Yes

No, wait, nevermind. It's from SWAT 4.

correct

2nd one is Terranigma, I posted that game too

I'm certain I heard this on an episode of The Game Dungeon, but can't put my finger on it.

Reposting some I made for the last thread that no one could guess right.

Fucking SMW romhacks and their obscure ass soundtracks.

1 is ghost trick.

...

Quick easy one

...

The thing with music like that is that it's the perfect atmospheric background music. It's well made, sets a mood, but doesn't stand out at all.

I wonder if anyone can guess this one for example, it's from a reasonably well known game, at least in it's genre.

This one does stand out, and I'm pretty sure anyone who played it at some point will recognize it immediately, contrary to that track above.

Bastion, great game. One of the best indie games, in fact

First (16.webm) is from dungeon siege II. Picture helped though, it's so long ago I wouldn't have remembered the music enough all on it's own without a hint.

...

it's pretty mediocre. Very poor enemy variety, weapons are inconsistent in how useful they are, and the level design is repetitive and boring.

Fearless Challenger, La Mulana
tfw making my friend play through it

correct
2nd one is Hitman 2

reposting since vp9 broke 2 of them

that's right

Il-2 '46

I posted this one last time, I think it was the only one nobody guessed.

I definitely know this song, but I can't quite place the game. I want to say diablo 2 but it's been ages since I've played that and this feels much more recent. So probably titan quest ?

Fuck I've heard Chapel before. Heat Signature?

yes

Scratch that, it's Hitman 2 Silent Assassin. I think the first level with the villa?

Fifth one is Alundra

Grave is Tomb Raider 3 I think, might not be three but definitely one of the PS1 era ones.

Well done!

yeah it is tq

...

most of these are recent

...

first is easy mode, new vegas.
second, Resident Evil 3?

3rd one is one of the unmistakably generic battle themes of Silent Storm. Damn fine game I might add.

correct, and warm.

Ah fuck it, it's pretty much correct. It's RE2.

...

Don't disappoint me.
Hint: the share threads from May-July of 2017

(12)2nd one is Locomotion that one track which actually I believe is free to use music?
(15) is Need for Speed 3 Hot Pursuit obviously… Also makes an appearance in Need for Speed 4 I believe.

Second one sounds a lot like an Amiga game. No idea which one though.

Final Fantasy?

Bastion, knew it immediately.

Reminds me that I started playing this game 2 years ago… and after I reached the second area I exited and never played again. Should really play again, solely for the soundtrack it is worth playing.

The tower one sounds an awful lot like from that dev who made the binding of isaac, i would guess it is their newest game, forgot the name though.

...

Wrong. Same genre though.

Nice. This one should be easy.

DKC2

correct

nope, not even the same country.

2nd one is hardo modo

Now that's an unusual sight.

Yes.

Chrono Nigger

Oh fuck, Ys Oath In Felghana, The Clock Tower area. I think the name of the track is Sealed Time.

Exactly correct.

Well done.
It was an easy one.

Princess maker 2.

You beat me to it user, have some olive.

...

Testing if this worked. I'll reward you the sauce of the lewd if you get it correct.

...

...

Giana Sisters

sounds like something from Neotokyo

Metal Gear?

Darn you user.

Round 2

Sounds something Falcom related. Legend of Heroes series?

#3 is Hard Corps: Uprising - Stage 8 Battleship Boss Theme.

Never played the game but I recognized Ishiwatari's style immediatley, and knew it wasnt a Guilty Gear song so I just looked up what other games he did the music for.

Resi. Evil 4

Cho Aniki: Kyuukyoku Muteki Ginga Saikyou Otoko, boss theme

...

the game has the same aesthetic so you arent too far off.

nope

That's the correct franchise, but what game?
Hint: It was posted in a share thread this year via ipfs

fuck, is it… EYE? Hard Reset?

Now where the fuck did I hear the second one? It's driving me mad because I know I heard it quite a lot

Yep, level 1 gorgeous boss.

Well, you are certainly correct about that. Keep going.

First one is from Fate/extra, battle theme iirc.

hint: gameplay is based around temporary wallhacks.

probably too much a hint at this point

Hint Samurai, monk, duelist

These two are quite similar.
Kudos to anyone who gets hard mode.

These should be on the easy side, If they rendered properly

Easy modo is from Killing Floor 1

first one is F.E.A.R.

correct

Give these a try.

I'll be seriously impressed should any of you figure this one out.
Hint: I posted a screenshot of it once in a thread about obscure vidya

yes.

Interstate 76.

Easy: Xenosaga Ep 1, Albedo. I know it well, it always crackles, even from a FLAC rip.
Normal: 7th Dragon III Code VFD, I'm pretty sure.

You've got a good memory. I know which game it is now, because it could only be a few, but the honors go to you.

spooky is from Ace Combat 3

Devil Daggers

Fuck, I know I own #4 but its completley slipping my mind as to what game it is.

"At Daytona, Come On Go. Yeah, That's It. Come On Do It."
Daytona USA - Start Your Engines
Takenobu Mitsuyoshi

I wanna play that arcade cabinet, so bad :'( Never played it, but fell in love with OST. Though, I own PLOK for the SNES. Love Tim Follin's work, also.

(self-checked)
Forgot, Number 3.

Hint: the whole game is a tutorial for when shit goes down and the REAL game starts

Number 4 is Dragon's Dogma Character Creation Theme.

(checked)
That's correct

Also right

Ah, Dragons Dogma character creator.
I knew it was a character customization theme, but it couldnt remember preceisivley what game it was from.

It's one of the best themes of the game. Too bad you only hear it once per play through

Godspeed to anyone trying to guess 1 and 2.

tip: its not mystery dungeon

Yup. I knew people would recognize the artist but not the game. PC port when?

Good. You got both of them right.

Rune Factory?

Nope.
Hint: game borrows massive influence from phatasy star online. game is a early access single player pixel shit but is set in a mmo like game

Yep.

here for the loli
carry on

This one will be very hard

1 is doable. 2 is obscure and 3 is stupidly obscure (I think less than 2000 people have played the version of the game that had this song in it, possibly less than 500).

CrossCode.

2 is the Lich fight in Secret of Mana.

This post is groovy.

correct

Heard this song plenty of times but can't pin it. What is it?

Bingo

More loli then.

Oh wow, didn't think anyone would actually get that.

Here's the lewd slightly uncropped if you're still interested. :^)

exhentai.org/s/9065f9dc74/584773-18

Why is the cianigger A.I holding a guess the music contest? Not sure if to laugh or call it a botnet…

...

I know the first one, but I can't think of what game it's from. Damn it.

...

ghostbin.com/paste/4ggjx

There are legit ways of getting sadpanda you know

Not that I'd tell you faggot

I don't understand how one can have made it to 8ch but you still can't even access porn without a fucking browser extension.

You are a cocksucker of the highest order. Lurk until you understand why we don't spoonfeed.

I knew i played that game every now and then

I'll spoonfeed you on the process of logging in since you won't be smart enough to do , but only if you can guess at least two games from the three songs posted. You get a bonus prize for guessing all of them.

Middle one is corrupted for some reason.

First one is from Melty Blood Actress Again the stage with the cherry trees that much i know, third one is probably Mr gimmiick

Wrong.

Not sure of any of those, but I need to ask what 2 is, sounds great

I'll at least give you a hint because I don't think the other guy will figure it out. It's from a normalfag shooter that came out within this decade. Also consider the filename and Todd.

I wasn't replying to you

Are unsolved, as are 2 and 4 of

1st one is crash twinsanity

This one should be easy mode, but don't bully me when you find out where it's from. Every dog has its day alright?

Disregard that, I suck cocks. For some reason, the downloader I use downloaded the advertisement on the video instead of the video itself. This one is fixed.

I can do it, but i am also extremely lazy, i'll do it tomorrow, good night.

Nobody recognizes Aquaria? That seems wrong, somehow.

Correct.

Second one is Disco a GoGo from Timesplitters: Future perfect. I know I've heard the first one before, but I can't for the fucking life of me determine what it's from.

Yes

First is from Seiken Densetsu 3

Second is Cirno stage from MegaMari

Well I don't think anybody's getting it anyways
Number 2 is Safari Town, Lair of Mystery from Gotcha Force

Yet you're the first ooe to recognize it. Criminally underrated game if you ask me.

RIP this game.

second one is The Red Locus, from Radiant Historia

First one is from Muramasa

I've given up on 8. It sounds so familiar, but I've ran out of games to check.

Asscreed?

Hard is pretty obscure outside it's country of origin, and probably even there.

Nope.

I was about to say Ball Breakers, but then the lyrics kicked in. It sounds a lot like it.

Fuck, i certainly heard the second. Either gothic 1/2 or heroes 3/4.

Good ear, it's Gothic 2.

Nah, not a good one, i couldn't decide between four choices.

Oh well, but one of your guesses is also close to another track.

One of the deponia games?

Correct. It's part 2, chaos on.

ARE YOU QUEERS READY FOR THE SEGA ROUND? It's pretty easy so far, but it may get harder later if i feel like making more.

Nope
Hint: Game is free. Picture is a hint too.

slenderfag?

number 5 and 8, I initially thought something like Donkey Kong or some shit like that
can you reveal them OP?

definitely sounds like snes era rpg
but can't put finger on it, anyone got a guess?

yeah definitely, if you stick around till the end its pretty obvious

These should be pretty easy modo

The first one is easy, but can you guess the exact game without looking it up?

Thanks. I just couldn't remember where I've heard it from.

Immediately recognized Melty. No clue on the third.

Correct!

Gundam Extreme Versus good taste

First one is from Interstate 76

First one is Lu Bu's theme from Dynasty Warriors
third one sounds familiar, most likely from a crpg or strategy fantasy

Kijin Seija theme from 2hu 13.

I tried Aquaria years ago and got stuck and gave up on it. Is it really so fun?

The you got the first one right. But the third one is from an underrated FPS

Oh shit it's bulletstorm

I'm pretty sure 17 is from Terranigma. Definitely one of the uglier tracks from the game.

Harvest Moon on PS1?

...

Is this painting historically accurate? My history teacher told me that thumbs down actually meant "stay on earth" and thumbs up meant "go to heaven".

...

Is Spiral Knights obscure? I still think about it and the fun I had back in Beta and what I thought the game could be. The hope I had for this and Minecraft back then was huge.

5 is Alundra, it was answered. 8 is this:

Nope. Here's a hint though: another tune from the same game.

Todd is Bad Company 2

That's from System Shock. Your original is way harder.

System Shock.

I'd guess Number 3 to be from Jet set radio future.

That's the one, well done.
The original is probably harder because it's both rendered with a Genesis soundfont and dissimilar in style to the rest of the soundtrack.

7th Saga

...

3rd is Antique Cowboy from Ragnarok Online.

DAS RIGHT!

Someone figure out the second one so I can go play it immediately

first is Streets of Rage 2 - Dreamer

last one (alert) sounds like from Decap Attack

This one is still my favorite track from any game other than corridors of time. So much so that I bought a nylon sting guitar and learned to play it just for this song.

I recognize the 3rd one from Elona but it's a different version.

I am immensely disappointed and my day is ruined.

Nope, but it is a Genesis game.

Yep. Foobar doesn't support the standard Windows MIDI soundfont, so I used something else. Did a search just now and found a compatible font that sounds much closer.

G's sounds stupidly similar to the final chaos boss from sonic adventure.

G is Daytona USA: Champtionship Circuit, Sons of Angels.
Too easy man, the song has the song title and the words "Daytona USA" in the lyrics.

You're correct, and I did say that I was going to make the first round easy.

Easy is fine, but having a song that literally says the game's name and the title of the song in the lyrics is too much.

Try guessing the other ones then.

stand aside, faggots. real mens' music coming through.

I can't into making file size smaller

yes

No idea, but it was used as a placeholder in the version of the game the music was used in.

Instantly recognized the second theme. Nargacaruga Theme from Monster Hunter 2.

There were a few guesses last thread (one user seemed quite annoyed that no correct answer had been forthcoming; OST for the game's pretty nice, and I guess he wanted the source). You're right that it's an RPG, but you're a few generations off.

Some more tracks from the same game.

No, but I'm so confused as to how you came to that conclusion I'm going to give it to you anyway

Good job, user!

If you must know it's Tales of Vesperia. Best way to play is to get the PS3 version as that's a very updated version that has a ton of content the 360 version doesn't have. However it's in Japanese. Thankfully, there's an english patch. I don't know how the game is when you emulate it on PC. Other than that, it's a pretty damn fun action RPG with an anti-hero MC and fighting game mechanics put into its combat. Combat wise though, Tales of Graces F beats it out.

Oh shit I just realized. It's actually Suikoden 2.

That's not exactly town music, more of "scene" music. You want good town music from the game, Dahngrest has a nice theme (and something about it vibes me Spyro OST vibes for some reason). You're right though; been playing Vesperia PS3 myself with the English patch. Really does make the 360 original feel like a fucking beta in comparison. And OSTwise, Bamco took the opportunity with it to have Sakuraba compose additional tracks, mainly for new content, but also occasional old content that really warranted individual themes.

You notice the music starting out really low at first before eventually reaching full volume during plot scenes? Just curious, as I can't recall if the 360 version did so, or if things changed with the PS3 port/script patching that might have prompted it.

Correct again! Great job, user!

Here's a couple more for the anons with taste out there.

These two are very obscure but done by the same guy. I uploaded the soundtracks for both these games in the share threads before.

I'm fucking up lately. For some reason, I was thinking of that town's music when I posted that.

I would really like if Sakuraba wouldn't do the soundtracks for Tales games outside of a few battle themes here and there. Love a bunch of his older works but I can't help but feel like he's wrung dry of ideas when it comes to music.

a-and you expect us to know any of that?

2 is a decently known mod of a game that's very popular, even here. 3 was used in a public beta (A post on the official forms that was basicly "Here's the download link, tell us all the bugs and balance issues you find." level public) of one of an indie game (that Holla Forums actually likes) released in the past few years (but the beta was long ago).

From another game. As a hint, the composer is very much well known, but the game sure isn't.

I don't dislike Sakuraba myself (and for stand-alone/early series works he can be pretty good), but I agree he needs to be given a full break for another game or two to get more ideas. Bring Shiina back for full composition like Legendia (it's telling that the OST was the high point of that game and a MAJOR high at that). I'd be running low on ideas after having worked on 90% of the main games in a series from 1995 until now, many of which having similar locations and elements.

The new PS3 tracks I found pretty good, perhaps because he had far less to compose and likely wasn't as crunched on time.

One more for that one because the mp4 output was so big it wouldn't fit with the other two.

first is from the Pokemon trading card game on gameboy

"grinding gaem" kinda gave it away, it's from Disgaea 3

Here are a few more.

First is stage 3-3 from Mega Turrican. I felt like I was going crazy for a second because I knew it was from Mega Turrican but you cut the intro off so I couldn't find the track.

Fuuuck, I know this song but I can't remember where it's from.

Yep.

5 is mild
6 is medium spicy

...

Hint: same musician as your first answer

the first two Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games

5 is Stellaris

Here are two new ones. The pictures aren't clues so don't go looking at them for any meaning.

1 and I think 2 are Langrisser 2.

3/Dog is Bonanza Bros

5/Serval is Mario Paint

I know ive heard that WHOOAH sound clip in #4/cat, a different song but cant remember where.

cat is San Francisco Rush

second one is Fate/Stay Night

Ah fuck, it was the R-Type loader theme by Chris Huelsbeck.

First one is, second isn't. Hint: japanese-developed port of a western game

Yep and yep.
It was probably from a commonly used sample pack.

Yep. Nice, you guys got all of those but number 2.

Probably the last set I'll do for now.

It's from Revenant!

the last one is from MUSHA, the rest I don't knowI'd love to know, they sound amazing

Correct. I'll give you some big hints since the thread is a little dead at this hour and I love these soundtracks.
First is a crazy breakout clone
Second is an unreleased Genesis game, with music by a certain big 80's european game composer
Third is a game that is only remembered because of a meme literally older than some of the faggots posting here
Fourth has the webm's filename in the english game title

2nd is from Devil's crush on PC engine, a bonus stage
3rd is the second stage of journey to sillius

3rd one is boss theme from eschatos

I'm pretty sure the 2nd one is from YU-NO, the style is similar

also many (not all or most) of the pics I chose were subtle hints.

Correct.
I don't know which game either are from but look up Ryu Umemoto.

Zero wing?

thanks for the hints I guessed them all, I'll let other user have a shoot
stage 7 of the first game is outstanding
I can't belive I forgot about the 3rd one

I guess I'll participate too

13 is from one of the Spyro games on PSX.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 multiplayer loading screen music.

Correctamundo

Correct. I thought it was too much of a hint.

Xenogears on that second one.

Right on both of those.

The first one is from Xenon.

Fourth from Fire Shark? Thought sky shark first, but that still has shark in the name in the other regions.

Anyway, whether it's right or not, I'd really love to know how to rip (or just separately play) those songs. I can't imagine dissecting the game roms and creating some kind of player, like with the c64, but apparently there has to be some way.

Got it.

Nice job user.

Yep.
Do you mean, how to play ripped game soundtracks, or how they actually rip them?

For the former, you download a game music player, and whatever soundtracks you want. You can get Genesis music (VGM files) from project2612.org, SNES music from snesmusic.org, etc. If you use foobar2000, there is the foo_gep (Game Emu Player) plugin which has players for a lot of formats. You can probably find something similar for your music player of choice, or download a standalone player for each console.

For the latter, there are two methods that I know of. One is to basically isolate the part of the game's code that handles audio and run that in a stripped down emulator. SNES SPC format works this way, emulating the program running on the SPC700 sound coprocessor. This approach saves memory for systems that use lots of samples but is harder to rip and makes seeking very slow (skipping forward 3 minutes requires that the player emulate 3 minutes of activity as fast as it can)

The other is to run the game in a normal emulator and log all of the writes to sound registers. You can then play the music back by emulating only the sound chip, not the controlling CPU. VGM (which supports more consoles than just Genesis btw) works this way. It simplifies both the ripping and playback process and allows for very fast seeking, but it's impractical for anything with heavy sample usage or complex feedback.
