Anyone else here had trouble with actually handling the pen and making basic strokes when they first started out?

I literally feel like I can't make a fucking circle. It's either too big or too small or too lopsided and I just give up at the first fucking stage!

What programs is everybody using for drawfagging by the way?
Want to get started again and was about to install Krita but wanted to see if there was something better out there

Krita's good, so is Clip Studio Pain but you gotta pirate that. Also rotate the canvas if you wanna draw circles digitally.

I use paint tool sai. pretty lightweight. The license is expensive though, I pirated it when in college and bought it a few years later after I got a job. The developer for Sai is just one dude, so he needs all the help he can get.

A lot of art friends of mine swear on how good and intuitive Clip Studio Paint is. You might as well have to pirate it first though. The key is expensive.

I know a lot of people recommend Paint Tool Sai, hell, my own sister does and she's a hell of a lot more talented than I am. As someone who's used both Krita and Sai, what are the biggest differences? I hear some people say the pen curve and responsiveness is better in Sai, is this true?

Yeah. It feels really good scribbling in Sai. Smooth as butter esp if you have pressure sensitivity.

the only reason I'm not drawing with it is because sai and krita both have their UIs scaled to the screen resolution and since surface book is 3K x 2K the UI on both are TINY

I have the same problem. The only drawing program that can work on mine is Autodesk Sketchbook because the one made for the platform (tablet PCs) is suited to it. I got it for free from the shitty Windows Store.

I also hate it when I try to do brushstrokes and the gesture hides the current window I'm working on.

You might have your tablet set to t he wrong ration.

If your screen ratio is wider than the tablet's surface area, stretching it will cause you to draw everything lopsided like a tard. Check both settings sections.

More lately I have been taking efforts to slightly edit reaction images and see what percentage of reaction images are my edits. it's pretty interesting to observe as they spread.

That interest wears off after awhile.
I made a lot of reaction images over the years, some of them got really big. You become numb to it eventually.

If I'm wanting to learn to draw what tutorial series is a good start? I have photoshop experience but I can't take nothing and turn it into something. I want to do concept art, mostly concept art for models I want to build in the future.

Where do you post your shit to get feedback? Obviously I'm a bit abrasive if I'm on 8ch so I'm not suitable for Reddit or Facebook style hug boxes. I'd like to be able to get feedback but also get involved with a community that isn't going to kick me in the nuts if I make an offensive joke.

Since you want to do concept art you'll have to do a lot of perspective, values, color, 3D, composition, etc.
You might want to read/watch up on what it means to do concept art first.
I'd definitely recommend Feng Zhu's channel FZDSchool.

You can find next to everything on youtube and a lot for free.
I'd say take a look at youtube channels like Proko, Sycra Yasin and CGCookie.
Especially Proko to figure yourself out and where you stand. Chances are you're completely at the beginning, so you should focus on basic things first, such as how a human is built, how to do proportions and perspective. Basically the "boring" stuff.
There is also New Masters Academy but they're pretty pricey, but they do have some free videos on their YT

You can worry about where to go from there once you have enough understanding of the basics to move on.

Pixiv can be really harsh on beginners. Mentally anyway when everyone else is far better than you and most people are japs anyway, so asking for critique or help would be limited.
But pixiv does have a "How To Draw" section I haven't checked out yet.

Krita and a base model bamboo tablet from 5 years ago is all that's really needed. At least I think so.

I've checked out Pixiv's tutorial section. Not bad, although it's all in moonspeak. There are also some users who post reference 3D images.
