Both Civ5 and Civ6 fundamentally suffer from the "bucket filling" problem, the same way EUIV does actually. You sit around and wait until your bucket of production/food/science fills so you can dump it on something that helps you fill those buckets faster. The only real influence you have is whether those buckets fill a turn or two faster.

Play Alpha Centauri or Civ IV first. Then try the latter titles to see how they're different. Then try the earlier titles just to know what they're like.

Also the policy mechanic in Civ6 is among the most tedious shit they could come up with. Who the fuck enjoys shuffling a hundred cards every few turns in the late game to squeeze out 2 more gold than before?

FreeCiv is the best Civ game.

It really seems like this is something that the mods should clarify rather than just deleting the threads. The first thread had some political shitposting but was mostly about design decisions in Civ. The second thread was some more political shitposting plus meta shit, but still mostly actually about Civ and how leaders are selected. The options seem to be:

1. Nuke the thread, deal with the fallout
2. Cut out political shitposting, leave thread as swiss cheese
3. Lock the thread, with a final post giving reasoning, let people make their own Civ thread knowing what they have to do to avoid being deleted.
4. Kill the thread and make a followup as a Civ thread stating why the previous was deleted in the OP
