To counter the pretend Sophian in the thread before previous, I must say that Film isn’t art. It has art IN it. Film is not theater. It has theatricality IN it. Film is not music. Is has music IN it. Film is not literature. It has literarility IN it. Film is a mechanized pulley system of chutes and ladders, two way mirrors, upside down incline plane, false bookshelves, phony floor compartments, paper mache puppets moved with elaborate rope set ups. It is a machine of interchangeable image tiles. A mechanized interchangeable machine of information science

Yes the pretend Sophian is another one of my derivatives, misinterpreting the inherent Greek content shown in Contempt, Lang being Eumaeus and Piccoli Odysseus. The return home and killing the men trying to have sex with your wife as apex of the story. This is long pre-Darwin mind you. But the Greek awakening of consciousness in the journey of having to go around and learn and jump through the hoops of multiple different encyclopedic roles and personality manifestation in primitive society. Lang’s films showing a fundamental repeated Darwinian motif of conflict OVER women as baseline awakening of consciousness, not the subject itself being the prize of women, as the pretend Sophian imagined. Even in other more directly Sophian works of the adaptations of Frederick Tristan. Rosa is first described as a troubadour that has ‘played in all the high courts of Europe’, euphemism for ‘she gets around’. Wisdom gets around all right. But again he interprets the subject as the point in itself, his being overwhelmed by awakening of consciousness and trying to turn it off through worshipping the subject. He is like Apuleius after being turned from the Golden Ass, only to become a bald legalistic inhuman freak worshipping the feet of Isis.

>>138787278Ha, no chance. You may think you're getting the same on public trackers but it's not. Way more is on private trackers and the quality is often way better.

>>138787254Frankly who cares if you don't have some Dumont films logged that you would rate 5/5 anyways.>>138787308Absolute coward. Holy shit.

>>138786872Film is an image based manipulation of emotions between two intervals of time, the content mostly does not matter, as there is an invisible cinematic law that must always be followed by definition and function of the medium. Personal attachment to cinema is generally indicative of an infantile mind, even Jean Luc Godard said (paraphrasing) 'film is nothing compared to a good woman.'So, transgressive directors, successful ones, such as Dumont, Pasolini, Ruggero, Hooper, Reygadas, etc. have been able to resurface different sentiments through their content, to dismiss them is to dismiss yourself as a retard. The Safdies fail as their is correlation between content and manipulation, the Safdies are children who think things are 'cool,' which is common in a certain type of semite.Women are art, women are the basis of cinema, to celebrate beauty, to celebrate women, there is nothing as artistically stimulating as seeing a beautiful woman. From Homer to Tolstoy to Nabokov to Dumont, women have been the basis of man's conquest, manifesting in battle or art. Even, celibate Pessoa recognized this, as the desire does not need to be purely sexual and in fact should transcend the sexual, so coomers will never realize this.To venerate a hoe like Julia Fox in Uncut Gems or Heaven Knows What recognizes the infantile slavishness inherent in those feeble inartistic minds. They will never make anything worthwhile. To appease, anti-Gallofags, he never will either for similar reasons. To him, woman are a vessel for his catharsis, not a trophy of conquest. Now you may say, Melville or Malick? The earth is womanly in both their works, the feminine nature of God, the feminine nature of poetry, of conquest. Hitler was the greatest poet since WW1 in a sense.

>>138787467>Frankly who cares if you don't have some Dumont films logged that you would rate 5/5 anyways. No, I wouldn't give any a 5/5. Even Twentynine Palms and Dune aren't 5/5s, my ratings were messed up.>Absolute coward. Holy shitNo, I would like to re-do my ratings and films seen anyway, I'll post it here when I'm done.

>>138787485Oh Apuleius, return to being the ass, so that you might amuse me and yourself. Remove yourself from the feet of Isis before I claw you away with masculine force. Women wear the face of men. Men have the soul of women. This is commonly known. Le matt. The fool. And has always been the case. Distracting yourself with the subject as if like a child told not to stare too long at some peculiar natural phenomena of rain or clouds. Don’t stare too long and don’t hold that face or it might be stuck like that. The piggish face as it is in the middle of orgasmic ecstasy. ‘Yes yes this is the subject, this is my Sophia’ (wrong she is formless). Dismiss petite names but do not dismiss direct awakening of consciousness in infatuation with the lowly parts of the subject. The 10 individual toes fill your mind and pop into your mouth like sucker candy in your imagination. Wisdom is disgusted by this piggish display and rejection of consciousness. Rejection of wisdom for mechanical stimuli. Turning it into something inhuman for the purpose of observation, thereby ultimately making the subject something controlled and not free with direct movement. That is the essence of satanism and that is why you live in hell with the absence of Sophia.

Is there a true separation between art and reality? Can you personally separate it in your mind, or do you let it destroy you repeatedly? It seems you have become an automaton of idols. Another stone tool of the gods made in replication of them. Made in THEIR image. Stone. Not God’s. Man free and moving. Women and men were once one creature combined into a super being, indestructible and fearful. This is the attempt of marriage. But to worship your other half as being the sole image. Is to worship the cold feet of immovable stone. Worshipping the image as reality. You will burn for this my friend, turn now and let me ride on your donkey back into oblivion. As friends. Not enemies. But be my enemy and thou shalt be destroyed like a casting of marble.

But to worship the subject of the form is death. By cutting off the tro͞oTH, one literally dies through cutting off potential of movement. The truth is real alright. And it is as hard as stone. Do not try to hide under it by creating fancies of the imagination (subjectivism) or you will be crushed by its weight when the wind makes it roll.

>>138788553Judaism was invented in the pre modern enlightenment through numerous social reforms and pretend messiahs. But most importantly through jews becoming increasingly secular and mocking their most rural and childish superstitions in attempt to assimilate into the Europe of the enlightenment. Jews became atheistic to be more like Europeans. But I prefer the childish superstition and spooky nonsense of rural judaism and their old crag witch leaders. Maybe that sounds contradictory to what I said about truth. ‘Truth must be in my rationalism or pagan idolatry’. Nope wrong. Truth is in movement and both those are immovable. As is Judaism’s more central theological doctrine of wait and pretend for God to come pat you on the head and give you everything you’ve ever wanted by destroying your most bitter enemies. The Master moved up, down, in between, across the horizontal law of the earth and the vertical law of the firmament. In a shape sort of similar to a cross, one might say. Adonai Adonai burn the trees and topple the marble, it is marvel of the march of truth. And it cannot be stopped. I was talking about the feminine beauty of the world, not an actual physical manifesation of lust. IDK what Lang has to do with any of this. It would helped if you preferred to specific films. Lang seems to be about the helplesness of a Man Vs. a Mob. Perhaps he's referring to the lustfulness thrust after Evil Maria, an un-pure woman. That was my initial point, modern cinema venerates Evil Maria's (Julia Fox), rather than Good Maria's. Or Gloria Grahame in Fury, but I believe Serpent has seen: Indian's Tomb, Tiger of Eschnauper, Mabuse, Metropolis, M, You Only Live Once, Big Heat, Moonfleet?Contempt is a Godard film in-line with the emasuclation of modern European man that is shown throughout his early works. I saw your posts on how it fits Lang's aesthetic, but I think that's a part of early Godard's films, creating a cinematic world of his subconcious, like in Pierrot le Fou how they lived through books and movies. A style that Carax mastered.

>>138790117I never said James Cameron was a pedophile rather his aestheic evinced pedophilia. Lang’s filmography is centered on two men fighting over a woman in repetition of him and Klein Rogge fighting over Von Harbou. You see it constantly. Yes it’s German romantic social Darwinism and distinctly Greek through Lang being raised in that period of Greek imitation. That is why he is in Contempt as Eumaeus. Because of the conflict in having to kill the men trying to have sex with your wife. In Contempt you’re too focused on the emotional intensity. It is not emasculation because it is controlled, instead of being over whelmed by. Simply about the most direct way of dealing with awakening of consciousness through the objective lives and aims of others. Like Odysseus traveling around the continent and meeting the encyclopedic array of characters that exist in the world. >>138790290Yes yes reply once the ego mask is broken. But it doesn’t fit on a brain, only a face. It slips off in the back of your mind.... ‘ oh no, I have been defeated’ >>138790400Yes he’s very funny>>138790641So you worship subjective primitivism? Sounds like the same thing to me

>>138790896Looks like shit

>>138790485Spare me with your silly laughy taffy type way of typing. Like you have squishing gum drops as teeth and the words wash around in your mouth like listerine as your lips slide slyly into a contorted smirk. It disgusts me. All this smirking by my detractors disgusts me

Is the guy posting all this shit the fag on letterboxd who only rated 1/2 or 5 based on esoteric bullshit because he couldn't connect with films on an emotional level due to his many mental illnesses? The guy who finally found a connection in Joker and wrote as if it was a revelation to experience what everyone else experiences in the films he condemned. Or is it someone else?To be honest I wish I could write like that, or even understand 100% of it. In uni I was smarter than most when it came to problem solving, creating systems, analysis and other autistic shit, but I've always been terrible with words. I can never be an intellectual no matter how much I read or learn. I always use simple language when possible (which makes me go on too long, sorry about that) even to communicate very advanced ideas. Reading stuff like this makes me feel retarded. But I have also met plenty of people who have enchanted others with pretty words who ended up being completely braindead when I tried to work with them on anything that required actual intelligence, so I don't know what to think. Any recs (lit or otherwise) for getting into aesthetics?

Is this Serpents Egg fellow you guys keep referring to that mentally ill Griffith fag from like 2 years ago?letterboxd.com/hatercles/

>>138791473No wtf that was Griffith friend from the Letterboxd threads. Most people here probably don’t remember but Serpent and Griffith friend used to be like Naruto and Sasuke. That’s some ancient lore

>>138784905Based

>>138792068Ah okay I kept out of the drama, personalities and circlejerks. Only visited the threads to talk about movies so I don't know much about them.

>>138791006It’s literally emasculation and cuckery in contempt. You’re not even mentioning the American producer he gives his wife to

>>138792531Last I heard his account got deleted for shitting on that letterboxd dude that an heroed. So he could have made a new account. I really don't know

>>138792651Eli Hayes

>>138792618No because they are killed in their transgression through self emulation, the ultimate form of emasculation. Piccoli walks away with the blessing of Eumaeus (the blessing of friendship). Friendship being the ultimate form of masculinity defeating the trickery and deceit of the feminity and mockery of Lilith or corrupted Eve.

>>138793303Bardot is a male suitor of Odysseus’ wife. That’s why (s)he dies in the end with Parlance. Because they are engaged in a homosexual relationship. Piccoli kills these suitors and goes to be with his true wife (Sophia). The one Parlance and Bardot are trying to suit or find through their struggled attempts to understand truth or wisdom. While Piccoli throughout the whole film is almost unrestless, content, Bardot and Parlance are ultra restless. And Lang exudes nothing but calmness. Because he is Eumaeus greeting his disguised friend at the gate

>>138793457I've only read The Iliad and not The Odyssey, so sorry for my inability to understand the references, same with the biblical references. I'm working through the 'epics' now and Melville's bibilography, any other reccomendations Serpent?

>>138793584Apuleius’ Metamorphoses for following the development of comedy. Meditations on the Tarot, somewhat silly but very rewarding systemic approach to understanding a lot of contemporary esotericism or hermeticism, which I dislike but the book does a good job of distancing itself from nonsense. Right now I’m reading Wyndham Lewis’ Tarr. Satire on the futurists and vitalists and examination of art world in France pre WW1. Might finally watch Moonfleet later.

>>138793968Moonfleet is good, but much like a lot of films I saw it in high school and remember very little other than I liked it. Thanks for the recs, I'm reading Book of Disquiet and Ulysses.

How do you rate movies that are just "alright" throughout but then have an actually great ending? Thinking about something like First Reformed.

Just finished editing my ratings :)

>>138794508Depends on if it recontextualizes the entire film or is simply a great finish to an okay film. In the latter case I might bump it up a bit from just "alright".

>>138794508So like Das Boot?6 or 7

>>138794508>>138794639haven't seen First Reformed yet btw, so can't answer for that film in particular

>>138794508I gave First Reformed a 7, could be a 6 though

>>138795090Marebito has to be the most unnerving movie I've ever watched. It's one of the most interesting of the late 90's/early 00's J-Horror films. Similar in some ways to Inland Empire with its early digital cinematography and utterly creepy depiction of urban environments.

>>138798026Link me some, sounds cool.

Watched Vertigo today. That film is a bit bizarre and very self-indulgent, take some cool camera movements and the stunning visuals ( a product of it's time ) and there's nothing left.Maybe Orson Welles was not completely wrong.

>>138798088This is the one I just saw that made me think of themboxd.it/7phpm

Watched A Gentle Woman. Meh. The actress was really pretty, the man unpleasant.

>>138798184I used to find it interesting psychologically but I cant remember why specifically.
