Genres you wish still had a fanbase

I miss the old car combat games, (except Carmageddon, where it was less about combat and more about racing) nowadays nobody seems to care anymore. pics related

crossout and any game with vehicles faster than tanks but slower than fzero.

I loved Rouge Trip.

Empires. Its tons of fun but nobody plays it anymore. It's a free sourcemod that pits two armed forces against each other. Usually, combat is initially infantry on infantry, as the round goes on and the points accumulate, vehicles begin to show. A commander on each side chooses which army-wide upgrades are researched, which types of vehicle armor are available, can place buildings, and so on, not unlike Natural Selection. Highlights include

dead fanbase or no fanbase?
Are people still making combo videos on any churayzee games?

Hybrid games like Battlezone. RTS where you can jump in a tank and shoot shit yourself instead of just commanding units to do it for you. Dungeon Keeper did something similar with the Possession spell.

Sci-fi racers. Arcade Racers. Actual retro FPS, not Serious Sam or Doom 4.

Have you played Hostile Waters? It's more RTT than RTS though.

Who here remembers mother-fucking Recoil?

old sports games
nu-EA opened the floodgates of normalfags into vidya, you just don't understand how comfy oldschool sports tourneys were

Can't forget my dad playing that over and over again. But now he's moved onto Plants vs Zombies for 7 years straight, and counting

Games that simulate being in the cockpit of a futuristic spaceship or mech and neither dumb down their controls for casuals or go the exact opposite route and sacrifice greater gameplay for cockpit porn.

This game is fucking great, I wish there was more vidya like that. Are there custom maps made for this game?

What's the game in the first pic?

There was an attempt at a gamenight but it was revealed that the devs were trying to trick anons into playing it. It caused so much backlash it will never be played by anons.

Looks like Ground Control.

Tactical FPS

I think car combat was killed with the stupid online only twisted metal.

Black missed the whole comedy angle but it had enjoyable gameplay, but really, Twisted metal 2 and Rogue Trip were the cream of the crop.

beat'em ups. 10 stages with a boss in every stage.

I want another Interstate game with mech-tier car customization.

I personally loved Twisted Metal 4 for the boss fights at the end of each of the levels and the ability to play as the bosses after beating them.

Being able to drop a literal nuke onto other vehicles via Calypso's special is something about that game I never forgot. It was equal parts awesome and ridiculous.

Agreed, best vehicle in the series in my mind. When I was young, me and my friend we're playing Sarge and Calypso on the downtown level. We had destroyed all of the other cars and the moonbuggy boss was put onto the field, we wanted to fuck him up so we went to the highest point of the map that only had one entrance and my friend placed Sarge's mine at the entrance and I aimed Calypso's nuke missile over it. We waited, and suddenly our opponent was there, he drove over my friends mine and as he did so, I fired my nuke perfectly in time and centered over the mine. The combined explosion looked awesome and sent the buggy flying didn't one shot it like we hoped it would though. One of those gaming experiences I'll never forget.

Isn't Jaffe an SJW cuckhold nowadays?

But there is no online only Twisted Metal, unless you mean that version of Black that you could send away for for free if you bought the PS2 modem. But Head-On and the 2012 game came out after that. Head-On is pure awesome and 2012 is still okay, but I agree the extra focus on online didn't help. Especially since the online didn't work well even when the game was new. Plus, only having three characters killed a lot of the fun. Yeah you had lots of cars but having unique characters in the cars is just more fun damnit.

The collection release was fun while it lasted, but the community is oh so small and strinking by the say. It literally went from a decently filled racing game to having the same groups of people in a lobby. I don't even think it sold well to begin with. Probably won't get a true sequel ;_;

Fuck this game was perfect.

...

I wish hentai games became mainstream.

Every company would make them.

God I want Nintendo to make a Pokemon porn game.

One for Star Fox, too.

But without Krystal.

You are forever my nigger, I loved the shit out of that game.

Space combat sims. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of playing the X-Wing games, and Wing Commander was pretty good, too. It's like people just up and forgot about the genre outside of one or two modern space sims that are much less focused on combat than older games in the genre.

...

Man you just reminded me simcity was some autist's lovechild and now it's a corporate money printer.

Was never good. It's like taking the idea of things like Mechwarrior and normalfagging it up to boring shit like cars because giant robots were too "esoteric".

GAMES AREN'T GENRES

Twisted metal was always shit too. This one looks like it went from bad unfunny "black comedy" to "edgy shit", and this looks like PS1 FMVs if they actually hit a solid 30FPS.

You've clearly never played a car combat game then, because I don't think a bad one exists.

kill yourself

It's not that I'm a big fan of this type of games, but I would like to see a return of hybrid action/RTS games.
Uprising, BattleZone, Savageā€¦ Hell, I'd even welcome another Brutal Legend, but with Doug TenNapel at the helm instead of Mr Shitface That is, unless he'd want to stick christian rock in, that'd be disastrous
There's something satisfying about looking over your battlefield and jumping in to help your troops directly. But I suck at strategy games, I just want this to exist and other people to truly appreciate it.

ye

I only ever raced when I was told to by the game, Carmageddon 2 was the shit.

nigger

Who would've thought the "I have to respond to everyone in one post" autists would have bad taste? Hm.

...

I tried out The Mean Greens yesterday and it feels criminally unpolished. I would've preferred it if it had used a different engine because UE just makes everything look too bright and blurry. It only had one server running and people kept picking the sandbox map, an open desert where snipers reigned supreme and it was all around boring with just 6 players.
I do wish this game would succeed, but devs should seriously do some work on it. Maybe make another "release", I think I've seen a couple other games on Steam do it.

fuck

Lost planet and by extension mainly Co-op oriented games. Playing versus in LP1 and the campaign online in LP2 and 3 was some of the most dumb fun I've had playing video games online. Special mention to pic related and the boss that eats you, then you have to shoot your way out.

I should get around to trying out EDF sometime.

There are many. The new Twisted Metal is one example.

Monday night combat is like the worst parts of FPS games mixed with moba, it was pure cancer and luckily most people realized that.

Yes.

I booted up The Hidden a few days ago. Almost made me cry.

Speaking of The Hidden, anyone remember this fucking gem?

Hey, we had a gamenight of it a few months ago. Had a ton of players and fun, and even a couple of devs that were surprised at the amount of players present.

...

I wish car combat games were more popular. Death Rally deserved a better remake.

My negro.

Also on the topic of dead HL mods.

Does Split/Second count or is it too racing heavy?

didn't this come back as something else that's probably equally as dead?

Double Action: Boogaloo. And yes, it's dead as fuck.

Furries and roleplayers ruin everything.

there are furries and RPers in bugalu?

Eww. No one wants what you're jerking it to to pop up the side of their steam. Don't let masturbating become your whole life, Jesus.

For actually answering the OP. Couch co-op campaigns.

;-;
if rs2 was a decent sequel i wouldn't be so sad

(real) roguelikes
life simulation games (ie simearth)

also this tbh. there would be a huge and growing market for professional hgames with all the herbivore men in the west now
too bad hardcore japanese cartoon pornography is too creepy for european investors

Stealth games

What is things a normalfag redditor would say.

10 years ago me and a friend introduced my friend's father to video games with granturismo 4 for the ps2.
The guy never touched a different video game, he plays gran turismo 4 to this day.

The man knows his games then
Although a fully pirated Forza 4 is also a great option

He's a nascar autist, he mostly plays on the oval test track.
He probably replaced the controller already but I used the controller again at some point, when I moved the left analog stick it had wear to the left but not the right.

Geez, every man has its tastes anyway, at least F4 had actual stock NASCARs
We had a family friend who was very into that one military flight simulator, Fighters Anthology. He had a couple of brand new sticks just in case one broke

It's more of a kart racer with actual cars rather than what we know as car combat games.

I MISS THE OLD SCHOOL FPS ARENA

Fucking a right, also because I just miss shitposting about blimbs.

...

No, just lots of Mexicans for whatever weird reason. I haven't seen any faggot RP/furry servers, but I also haven't touched it in like two years.

Get BTFO. it's an inferior, lame version of robot games like MechWarrior.

GAMES AREN'T GENRES
WHY DOES NOBODY ON Holla Forums KNOW WHAT WORDS MEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN
Also, the "videogame based on the plastic Army Men toys" genre is dead because 3DO spewed those games like shovelware, and "Monday Night Combat" doesn't count at all because fucking tumblrwatch and TF2, you double nigger, class based cartoony shooters is far from a dead GENRE.

Congratulations, you're a degenerate subhuman whose existence is to live in decadence.

FPS/RTS games always seemed super difficult for me. Unreal Tournament, which at least had the vehicle element was fine.

Mechwarrior objectively sucks as much dick as your mother when she's turning tricks in downtown Detriot.

hey you guys like our niche game? were going do dump out a sequel as quickly as possible to try and cash in! that killed both games? oh well~

Fictitious sports games. As in there's no way in fucking hell they'd exist in real life but holy fuck it'd be beautiful if they did.
Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe

I wish 6DoF wasn't so dead

inXile recently trademarked Autoduel. Never give up hope, user.
