I'll be honest, I like the guy who did the video he does good work, and that should be supported imo, even if it's just through views but it's not hard for anyone to search the video title in youtube, then copypasta the link into hooktube themselves. But you're right, this deserves to be spread around. The normalfag eye has cast it's gaze upon EA. They're paying more attention to this shit than they ever have before because EA was dumb enough to do it with one of the most normalfag-friendly IP's in existence. As for your other idea, I'm taking a similar-yet-different tack on it at least a few of the kids I work with have been really looking forward to this game. This loot box fiasco gives me a solid reason to sit down with their moms and give my professional recommendation that, as a potential entry point for gambling, it would be in the best interests of their kids if not only were the games boycotted/returned, but also that the parents themselves got together and voice their support for legislation punishing companies that use the p2w model to exploit children. The best part is, it's all true. I'll catch some flak from the kids, but after I show them the storied history of EA cutting a bloody swath through vidya I think they'll be more amenable.

Alright, but MapleStory had a cash shop years before then that was also very successful. I'm not sure if MapleStory was the first to do this or if it was the most successful at it, but I know other MMOs did this as well before FIFA 09. In fact, MapleStory had a gachapon system where you buy tickets for a chance to get random in-game items, much like the lootboxes discussed in the video. He made a good video, but it doesn't seem like he did enough research if he believes EA started this. (They're still a shit company that engages in kikery, but if he's going to do research on the origins of said kikery he should have also researched other ways games handled microtransactions.)
If Kikepedia can be trusted I know it can't but I can't find other sources for this anymore MapleStory made over $300,000,000 by 2006 alone.
