What games do you see yourself playing in 10 years?

Do you think you will buy into VR?

Do you think you will stop gaming entirely?

Polish roulette.
No
Halfway there already.

No idea, I have seen so many franchises destroyed U'm not betting on any still being good in a decade.
Yep, I love simulators and once the res reaches the point I can easily read gauges on a dash I'll buy in.
Never.

Terraria 2

Them anime tiddies… hoping to suck a pair in VR.

I may eventually get into VR just because sim autism hits me every once in a while, but it still doesn't seem great for extended use, and considering how release cycles are, probably not going to see much but incremental improvements in a decade's time.

Super Metroid
Puzzle League/Tetris Attack
Darius Gaiden
Cabal
etc.

VR always has been and always will be a shitty gimmick that doesn't lead to good video games because it hardly opens up a damn thing to new game possibilities.

I'll probably be dead
No.
I dunno. Will there be vidya in the afterlife?

The same games I play now. I live in Australia so with the inevitable increase of always online DRM and any game that relies on

Imagine your waifu sucking your dick for 36 hours straight.

Fallout 4realz

S.T.A.L.K.E.R and Bannerlord

...

Getting my dick sucked does sound like a pretty fun video game, but I'm a little skeptical that vr will convincingly immerse me in that experience within 10 years.

die sooner

Same shit I'm playing now. Just like ten years ago.

Stop giving Blizzard money, faggot.

The Alpha of Bannerlord should be out by then so we'll all be playing that.

You bring this upon yourself, have fun when your overlords shut down those servers.

Nope.
Nope. I might cut back on it a bit in favor of starting to get /fit/ or fitting in an extra hobby in there.

Yeah I can see the reasoning behind this term having "Polish" in its name as a Pole.

Dorf Fort 0.6
And Star Citizen

I don't know for any of those, ten years is a long ass time. I'm hoping that VR unfucks it's shit and gives us some actual games. I don't think we'll have holodeck-tier VR with all sorts of haptic feedback but I'm expecting at the very least some improvements that make it worthwhile.
I'm not sure I'll ever stop gaming completely. My dream is to suddenly get rich, retire early and play videogames and practice hobbies for the rest of my life, but there's a shitton of stuff in life to do and videogames are a massive time sink for me.

implying it will release before Skyrim on PS5

DOTA
Warcraft 3
Terraria
FTL
will revisit yearly Dark Messiah
No, unless I remain single forever and will buy for porn.
Probably not.

...

Unlike others dota actually tried to be a good game.

Same people I knew who played the OG Dota and later Heroes of Newerth before this cancerous genre got popular were the same faggots wasting their time on MMO garbage like Lineage 2 and Ogame.

These games are all fucking garbage and I say this as an autist whos hyped about the upcoming Dominions 5 and Age of Civilizations 2.

Probably TF2, Counterstrike: Source and some platformers.
Because virtually nothing has changed and no shooter game has ever offered any real reason to stop playing TF2.

I'll probably still be replaying games from my childhood more than new games, that's if I'm still alive by then.

You know you can play older games? That you don't have to play AAA multiplayer-only infested with microtransactions and indieshit?

...

You're not fooling anyone you glow-in-the-dark alphabet nigger.

I hope to see myself actually making games, completeing more indie games and games I have on emulator, and 1cc more arcade games

Really? Everyone knows Overwatch is hyped up bullshit and paid internet marketing, but there have been a few good shooters since TF2.

TF Classic was just a mod. Plenty of other good mods have also been made. There are some other good free shooters you could try.

I will have probably learned Japanese and will be playing PC-98 and X68000 games.

More of my backlog

Old Star Wars games and other 1980s-2000s stuff. That and any decent modern releases I missed out on.

Probably the same shit I play right now. Unless something fucking insane happens like EA turning into good guys again and resurrecting Maxis, there will never be a city builder superior to SimCity4, so I'll probably still be playing that.

VR is a meme and will never actually be anything more than retards flailing around with goggles strapped to their face. This "full immersion" bullshit people like to talk about won't happen until we get complete virtualization of the human brain. If by some cosmic fucking miracle humanity doesn't nuke itself to oblivion, we're still talking centuries down the line from now. In just ten years? Jack shit will happen, tech wise, because everything has stalled, because all the companies are making infinite money right now so have no reason to change anything or advance. I'm sure by then we'll have Fallout 6 and Call of Duty 32 and Halo 19, and a new LoZ and new Mario and a new edition of Skyrim, and Minecraft will still be broken and full of pointless shit, but kids will still play it.

I'd be bored after 36 seconds. Lying there and doing nothing but receiving pleasure is the most boring kind of sex there is. It's just a meaningless teenage fantasy for someone who has never actually had sex and only wants a replacement for their hand.

t. someone that's never had their dick sucked

I don't know. Ten years is way too far off for me to imagine for the video game industry, especially with how fast it can change in just one or two years.
No.
Probably. I can't remember the last time I bought a new game. I'm poking at only two video games currently. There is only one future release I still have interest in, and it has an unknown release date, so we'll see how that goes. My spare time is slowly shifting to board games and drawing.

From what I'm playing now, Dwarf Fortress and Super Smash Bros. Melee. From what doesn't exist yet, whatever's actually extremely difficult while being well designed.
No, it'll die before then.
No, but I'll definitely be playing less than I do now.

Considering that 10 years ago I was playing DOS games and emulating classic consoles, probably not a whole fuck of a lot will change in the next 10 years. Some newer games will be added, I'm sure, but the bulk of my library will still be shit that's now 20~30 years old (30~40 years old).

You know how like you'd used to go to your grandma's house as a kid, and all she'd watch are reruns of All In the Family and Andy Griffith and shit on Classic TV? Maybe some Walker Texas Ranger and Colombo for more recent shows?

The vidya equivalent of that.

probably all of my backlog

No and no. Why are these the only two choices?

Spyro 1, 2, & 3
Paper Mario 1 & 2
Stepmania

That's surprisingly good aliasing for a webm

Kerbal space program
no
no

Get your dick sucked before you talk shit nigger

...

Underrated post.

When its at a reasonable price range I'll buy it for the porn and the occasional game which makes dignified (i.e no wagglan) use of the tech. Seriously what is it with these fucking faggots that think it's got to either a, revolutionise vidya or b, do some jack-into-the-matrix bullshit to be worthwhile?

-STALKER, SupCom FA, SimCity 4 and C:S, F:NV, KSP, GTA IV, Deus Ex and HR, the dozen or so games I already emulate
-Already did
-No

The same games I play right now, most likely current DOOM wads and emulated snes stuff. I just hope I'll be able to keep my toaster 10 more years. I've been using her for so long I feel like it'd tear my heart out to change for a newer one.

I hope to be dead in 10 years. But if not, I want super imersive VR RPG games, and proper PR, with lots of choices that actually matter. But realisticly looking at the gaming market in the past 10 years it was mostily just going downhill with less and less inovation, simpler gameplay, and more and more bullshit like DLC and microtransactions

I'll be shooting cityfags trying to swim across the border to my rural utopia after the global economy collapses.

And now to the ACTUAL games you will be playing in 10 years.

If you're a teen now, you will look for complex or otherwise challenging games, slowly hoarding a backlog that you are absolutely sure you will eventually play.

If you're in your 20s already, then your future is to pick up sequels to series you used to love and be mercilessly let down, all the while being incapable of enjoying your infinite backlog anymore, and going after novelties and oddities to keep up the appearances that games can still be fun.

VR fucking sucks, just like motion control, Kinect, PS move, dual screen gameplay and whatever other gimmicky shit. Absolutely appalled at the steaming shitpiles released as “full games” or “experiences”, even with the bar so low this generation. I want to fucking die.

Seems pretty accurate tbh

Tbh, I'll probably still be playing on consoles and avoiding pc gaming like the plague. Especially considering that the current consoles (PS4, Switch, Xbone) will likely outlast current pc hardware (circa 2017) again in terms of gaming relevance.
t. retrogamer

10 years from now? I doubt VR will have advanced as far as it needs to by then, but I'll still be playing games. Hopefully things like Path of Exile are still running, but I doubt it. Otherwise, same as normal: old games and hunting for new ones. Some things will never die though

I'm close to losing interest all together.
Its down to Rocket League and obscure indie games.

none, if I'm playing videogames even in 5 years I'd be ashamed.

I'm 19 and enjoying my last month of freedom before college.

Enjoy wasting your fucking time with pointless work while paying out your ass to do so
I'm about to drop out soon already found a job and I'm learning Japanese and Russian in my free time inbetween vidya.

Don't go to fucking college, worst mistake you will ever make.
You'll end up at an office job or as a teacher regardless unless you're one of the top 100 students.

What if I want to be a teacher
Say I’m a masochist who can tolerate hiding my power level for a mid-level wage and 3 months off a year

...

Depends. If it's the "jack into the Matrix" type then I'll probably give it a shot but as long as HMDs and wagglan are still the order of the day I can't see myself touching it.

No, but with very few exceptions I'll probably keep on keeping on and playing video games from back when they were at least decent.

Weebshit. Cute is timeless. Flat is justice eternal.

...

And it's still boring as shit.

By the way you post you sound more like an insecure virginal 16 year old

Not as insecure as those guys who are so sexually defunct that they can't even be bothered to fuck their partner.

black the white bitch

Hopefully I won't be a loser who still plays video games in 10 years.

You'll be a loser that doesn't play vidya instead

Will keep playing d2 forever and ever. The grind never ends.

you should have studied, nigger.

I stopped playing video games 3 years ago. I just come here for the shitposts and autism

Our parent's parents had some quality tastes in television.

...

Again as far as "Games I will be playing in 10 years go" TF2 is basically a safe bet, I don't really see the purpose in investing extended time into another game, especially since many phase out your investment with sequels and leave your prior game in forced obsolescence.

No, I already have friends who have, so I'll probably just go over to their place for the VR fix.
Honestly, there's a decent chance. I already play games once a blue moon, as is. I've pretty much given up on current era shit, and have decided to go back to my old consoles. The only thing I care about these days are grabbing the classics I always wanted or never got to play.

Probably the same kind of games I've been playing for the past thirty.

I won't buy into VR at this point in time, but I'm willing to approach it with an open mind. My friends will probably buy into it long before I will, so I can just try it at one of their places before I take the plunge myself, if I ever do.

Probably not. Still gaming at 35 despite having a girlfriend and a full-time job, and I'll probably continue to do it until I'm physically unable to anymore. Which is probably death. Even though the industry is largely awful now, there are still current games that fill me with the same happiness and joy that I felt when I was still a little shit.

none, i will have a wife and two children

so a fantasy sim

I'll probably kill myself in a few years.

chess with Hitler

VRChat maybe has potential. That's about it for right now.

wew

Also this.

Probably games that are very similar to what I'm playing now. The industry has stagnated to an absurd degree in the past decade. The jump from 1987 to 1997 was mind blowing. 1997 to 2007 was a pretty wild ride. 2007-2017? Same old shit. Unless this thing about lootboxes getting classified as gambling goes through and forces the game industry to move away from microtransactions, big publishers are going to keep doing the same old shit.

Not until it's .hack/SAO tier. I can't see myself ever bothering with the tech as it stands even for porn games because it brings nothing new to the table. Call me when VR means I can feel her heart pounding in her chest from under her hot, sweaty skin.

Only if the industry suddenly stopped making anything I like, which I find unlikely.

VR is never going to get to that point with external peripherals. It's going to take brain plugs and you wont be able to trust any company providing the surgery.

Dwarf Fortress
Yeah, its an interesting new technology people have wanted for years. It may not be great for games, but I can see it being used for other things (Aside from porn too)
Definitely, long as I can afford the hobby I'll do it.

Yeah, aside from the obvious risks of a company being able to alter your brain, plugs are also impractical as fuck. You'd need a new surgery every time your plug is too old for modern stuff. Even the best of goys that's willing to buy the latest iphone every year isn't going to be willing to do that when it's a surgery that costs tens of thousands of dollars and takes weeks to be back to work/school.

Maybe, and no.

This as well.

Persona 6 might be released by that time, so probably that.

...

All I want is to play one game with other anons that doesn't become a shitfest of regret and abandonment.
I just want to play with you assholes. God dammit.

In 10 years game engines will hopefully be cheap enough and easy enough to use that a lot of indie companies will start making halfway decent games. I swear I'm still itching for a halfway decent JRPG though, all these shitty meme filled RPGmaker games just aren't doing it for me.
And all the "Horror" ones are stupid, the answer is always to run away, that's fucking dumb.

Nothing much, really. I don't even enjoy gaming the way that I used to. I just want relive the good old days of Half-Life Deathmatch, Counter-Strike 1.6, Sven Co-op 3.0, Day of Defeat, Zombie Panic and so many other great mods. I took it for granted and didn't enjoy it all as much as I should have when it was all at its peak.

But that's never going to happen.

No.

I sometimes feel like I'm two-thirds of the way there. I uninstalled Steam over a year ago and haven't reinstalled it since.

I think I've lived the dream too hard for too long and now the things that used to bring me joy have no meaning.

Way things are going. Nintendo will be the only console makers left.

Half Life 3, in full dive VR whre if u die in the game you die in real life

The same games I've been playing for half of my life already. Doom, all games powered by Quake engine, the majority of games powered by Source engine. Mods allow me to enjoy them forever.

The latest Mario RPG which is also a Platformer, and probably does something clever with the Flip mechanic in Super Paper Mario, done in VR.
I'll also probably spring for the VR cover that makes whatever Nintendo pushes as a VR goggle look like a Virtual Boy.
Oh, and probably Half-Life 3, which is this generation's Duke Nukem Forever.

I should also mention that emulation will be better in 10 years, so odds are I'll just replay the classics over and over again.

bullshit

FromSoftware's latest "We used the upgraded Dark Souls Engine for this one."
It'll probably be Demon Souls 2 and 3.
