a little inaccurate, but other than that there's no issues. if you take in a lot of japanese media you may notice some discrepancies in words used and how it's written in the subtitles but if you know what these words mean in context, it's nothing you won't be able to understand on your own any way. no real issues however.

i agree, although i really enjoy hacking into robots and controlling them, then using those robots for the majority of the combat. the flying razor snake thing is super fun to just glide around the level slaughtering enemies.
but i found alot of enjoyment as 9S once i unlocked that ability because any new area i entered, i would "try on" each new robot.
i think he's also able to brainwash robots to fight on his side. theres also a spear that lets you randomly make enemies you hit fight for you, so if you do both you can have 2 enemies on your side fighting alongside you.

if you enjoyed playing as 2B, A2 is very similar except she has different movesets and doesnt use dual weapons. instead they replace it with a berserk mode.

this made her more fun to move around. especialyl with those little mods that extend the range, but she wasnt as fun to fight with. probably because i never really used berzerk mode much.

they even let you control those colossal robots and use their full movesets. they let you control flying robots (to reach tough locations if you cant triple or quadruple jump like a pussy)
finding new robots and experimenting with them was alot of fun.

oh, forgot to mention, spear throw is super long range, and has punch-through so if you line the enemies up right you can smash a whole crowd in 1 throw. and it can be thrown fairly rapidly.

might wanna work on that. It's truly hectic managing dodges, avoiding/destroying projectiles, and keeping your awareness up as you track your dwindling HP while delivering a barrage of strikes on enemies. I liked the core combat but it lacked a way to really put yourself in high vulnerability for great rewards. Parries were a good start, but it got so much better with berserk.

I own & 100%'d the game user. I love it but its unfortunately easy even on the hardest difficulty settings. In fact despite it no generally true, a few optional parts of FFXV are more challenging then even the Emil fight. I have the same critique of Yakuza 0 as being too easy, but not to the same degree. It's a legitimately great game with fantastic directing, true innovation in sound/music design, and remarkable pacing. Combat isn't deep, game gets to be a little easy, but at the end of the day these are mildly disappointing goals not hit in an otherwise superb package.

Why exactly do people say this game has severel endings? It just fucking stops at some point and brings you to the menu then it tells you to continue the game because there's more. Furthermore,they even force you to play a second time through the short campaign and there you have to play as the unfun twink instead of letting you switch between them. Drakengard 1 was the only good entry in this entire clusterfuck of a franchise or whatever you want to call it, and it wasn't even objectively good when compared to other games as a whole. It's pathetic how bad the industry has gotten when Holla Forums calls a genuinely bad game 'great' or '10/10', due to every other game made in the same time-frame being worse.
This is without mentioning the poor graphics, DENUVO, and overall horrible PC port. any way, it's a get what you pay for situation. ds3 is good because you have analog buttons but configuration for it on PC is apparently spotty last I heard? May have been fixed so do that research if it interests you. It's good for emulation because it has pressure sensitive buttons which is useful for PS2 games.

The DS4 has become a bit of a favorite too these days, it's a plug and play device, comfortable weight and size, good buttons and sticks, solid d-pad so it's great for general use too.

Avoid microsoft pads, they all have awful d-pads.

Some parts were OK. The story was predictable at every step. I had fun with the combat but it eventually feels shallow, the game has no replay value outside of the multiple endings, but that is only if you enjoy the story.

Borderless gaming takes like a 10 fps toll on this game on anything that isn't a gtx 1070 or better, i go from never below 60 to instant 50+ on a 980, so no thanks; but you can get the FAR mod running quite fast and easy and improve the shitty port a lot, it will still take a good computer to run tho.

Automata is a hard game to deal with because it's mostly recommended by people who sat through the entire thing and walked away with feelings of joy after the true ending, but forgot that the majority of their 50 hours of playtime consisted of backtracking, fetch questing, messing around, hacking away at bulletsponges, and so on. It's not a sunken cost fallacy or anything, but the real ending of the game is where all the questions get answered and so many things come together which have been set up and foreshadowed since the first arc, to the point where your view of the ending will shape your view of the entire game, and whether it was worth it or not. People like this game despite its constant floundering, the only thing what made the general reception to this game different is that people forgot in their hype when Platinum was announced at the helm was that Yoko Taro games are inherently divisive, resulting in even more ruined expectations than normal.

It's a game which barely even shows the strengths of its developer, as it is a hack 'n slash game stretched out to suit the pacing of a RPG, there is no performance grading to encourage you to get better, difficulty is a matter of self-restriction yet painfully obnoxious on higher difficulties because of the death penalties, the bullet hell segments are euroshmup-tier, the integration of bullet hell elements in hack 'n slash combat is, encounter design is garbage from both an RPG and hack 'n slash standpoint with underutilized enemy types, the boss fights are some of Platinum's weakest, unskippable meme cutscenes out of the ass during boss fights, and route B is pure padding with a gimped player character whose gimmick is a crappy minigame, yet doesn't do much to justify it's own separate existence in the game by having you replay route A with additional sidequests and cutscenes, or make it known why it couldn't have been fused together with route A through a character swapping mechanic of some sorts. Even the initial pacing of the game is the very definition of a slow burn compared to the first game with its plentiful banter while doing sidequests, whereas in Automata its incredibly minimal despite the huge amounts of sidequests, there's only build-up going on in the background.

If I were to look at this game from a design standpoint, I want to fucking vomit. It's borderline experimental in areas, which is the only possible explanation for why a veteran developer like Platinum would make such mistakes, either that or Yoko Taro truly was that drunk.
To put it simply, NieR: Automata is shit, but I like it.

That is how I've described all of Taro's previous games in the past, be it Drakengard 1, Nier, or Drakengard 3. The gameplay of those games ranged from why to serviceable, and in Automata's case it's generally good combat which is never utilized to its fullest extent. Platinum offered some more finesse and depth and plugged some of the holes left by previous B-tier mainstay developer Cavia, but Platinum was mostly experimenting with this game, as opposed to their other games which were incredibly tight. Graphically it's subpar in this day and age. The only things anyone can reach a positive consensus on is the character designs and music. So what the hell is there to this piece of shit which attracts people to it like flies?

Yoko Taro games are revered largely because they're unique compared to most games in general, mostly because of how the storytelling uses the interactive medium to its advantage and presents something that wouldn't work as well in any other medium, and the non-standard subjects of the stories themselves. The stories themselves aren't too unique or as deep like Planetscape Tournament for example, but pacing aside, they're overall executed very well and undeniably memorable. Whether that memorability stems from frustration with the game fucking with you or appreciation of some of more clever bits of the game tends to vary from time to time. The characters in these kind of games are misfits who for personal reasons end up either dooming or saving the world, but are human in their flaws, which is what makes them so interesting. The worlds in these games are decayed and far beyond gone, yet the remaining survivors are still trying to make sense of the world. Aspects of characters are shown which are rarely ever shown (tastefully) in other games. The games have a certain charm to them unlike most games, you can clearly tell a lot of soul was put in the game and that the developers had a fun time.

It's not the kind of game you should expect to be a masterpiece, when from the outset it's a game whose main intentions aren't to encourage you to git gud, to respect you, or to let you have fun. In this game you're merely a bystander who unknowingly signed up for watching the premiere of an experimental French New Wave film. People who rate this game tend to rate how they felt about it, rather than how the game would objectively hold up, which is where all the miscommunication sprouts from. And as you can tell, many people who have achieved the true ending walked away very satisfied, yet in hindsight this is the kind of game you learn to both criticize and appreciate even more with each repeat playthrough. I very much appreciate the existence of this game and would like to see more like it, and would definitely encourage others to stick to the end while playing it.

Just beat it yesterday and I've never been more emotionally moved by a game. That it had good gameplay along with it that enhances the experience makes it all the sweeter.

I also like that it IS possible to beat on your own, just difficult. In my opinion it enhances the message and shows consideration for those who do wish to live alone and are happy that way. The guys who can do that and still delete their saves are the real ubermenschen.

A friend recommended I try Mother 3 for a similar experience. I hope it makes me feel as wonderful as Nier: Automata did.

The game is weak and the story can become VERY cliched. It's an okay game but it's not a 10/10 like most retards here would have you think. If you take the gameplay into account then it's a 7/10 at best and it is VERY noticeable that it's a GBA game.

In terms of gameplay it's mostly Raiden if he used Bayonetta's dodge with bullet hell elements. Another thing I like about Automata is how you can use so many buttons at once with purpose.

I generally don't like cinematics and forced walk sequences so I don't bother playing games that have them.
