Aveyond: Rhen's Quest and Ean's Quest are both very solid western made JRPG's on the XP engine. They can be bought on dev's own site at amaranth games or steam but you'd be better off pirating the games since they lost all their talent and turned to shit by now but the two above mentioned releases are greatly entertaining, especially the latter one.

I've played 7th Stand User and OFF, and they were enjoyable. Not holding my breath for 7th Stand User 2 though.

it's definitely worth playing through, though it's more to see everything and enjoy the story. the combat is just kind of there, but at least you can skip most random encounters and do just fine unlike towelket, fuck towelket

I quite enjoy MGQ: Paradox. If you play it on hard or above it becomes a bit of a grind, since you need to level up your jobs, and it IS a grind if you want to have every companion since the recruit rates are ridiculously low for some monsters. The big problem is that it is not fully translated; the first game is contained entirely in the second, and h-scenes are accessed by moving some files from the first into the second, so they are just moving to translate the second. Which is also not translated and probably won't be for some time. The story content for the first game is translated, but not all the porn.

The porn is optional, and I hope you enjoy Xelvy if you are there for porn.

Corpse Party is pretty good, although I think most versions of the game use a custom engine, it still very much maintains the feel of an RPG maker game.

A slight correction here: Barkley started off as an RPGMaker game making fun of the autistic and hipster RPGMaker community (as well as furfags and SomethingAwful, as its creators come from the latter and they've inserted abstracts from vidya rants from their forums as Save messages and simply replaced videogame with vidcon in each of them); when the project grew in size, they realized that the engine was way too limited for what they were trying to do and just ported it over to Game Maker.

Don't think I ever got that one. I got the ending where Ib escapes, meets Garry in the art gallery and they remember each other my first time through. I definitely want to try and get some of the other endings sometime, though.

IIRC, you essentially visit the world of OneShot again, Niko Remembers you, you meet all of the characters again in different ways, you gain access to the giant locked door in Refuge, and then you basically "rewrite" the game's/world's "code" in such a way that Niko can both save the world of OneShot and return home. All around a happy ending in which the only loss is that you and Niko still have to go your separate ways.
I was perfectly fine with the smash ending as well, but there you go.

The update was fine. I see why some wouldn't like it though. I would encourage someone to play it if they liked the game enough and wanted more. I don't remember where I saw this, but I remember reading a note from the dev that specifically said if you liked the original ending and don't want to see it changed then don't play the update. Apparently it's a New Game+ sort of thing. You can only see it if you've beaten it once.

I didn't dislike it, I just don't think it was strictly necessary as the endings of the game prior to the update weren't incomplete or unsatisfactory, at least in my estimation. Like you, if someone plays OneShot and likes it enough to want more, I'd also recommend playing through the update content.

Maybe that's only true when quitting at specific times or if you wait a long time before returning to the game? I quit without resting a couple of times, but I returned to the game within an hour. Niko said he felt my absence for a few seconds, but that was it. I don't remember reading anywhere that Niko's supposed to die if you quit the game, but I went into the game pretty much blind so maybe you know something I don't.

The Steam version seems to resolve the issue you had with the game setting up false expectations. My impression from your post is that you had a problem with the original version bending its own rules and thereby breaking your immersion. In any case, I think I agree with you that the game would be more engaging if you really did have to play through it entirely without quitting. OneShot is definitely short enough to make that feasible. Neither version really operates like that, though, and the Steam version at least doesn't tell you a half-truth about the consequences of quitting. The original version is closer to a true no-quit experience, however, and there are enough beds in the game to make using them every time the player wants to quit feasible. So maybe the way the original version handles quitting would be better than how the Steam version handles quitting provided the player was told outright at the beginning that if they want to quit, they should use a bed because Niko will be saved.

If it's any consolation, the guy who did the avatars was hired to do scenes as well, so we should see something like that picture uncropped eventually.

People don't appreciate this game enough my dude. The context it establishes for the scenes makes them so fucking hot, and even the fucking combat animations are hot enough to make me shoot loads.
I just wish people didn't bitch so much about the difficulty of it. The fact that it was hard made it feel rewarding as all fuck when you got further, and it actually fit in line perfectly with the theme and pacing of the game. It was satisfying as all fuck to work for your porn. Playing this game was a fucking experience, I did it over the course of about a week or two in college a year or two (maybe its 3 now) ago and it was unforgettable.

See This is something that happened, is a game, and was before the game everyone shills for even came out. Also, undermeme was shit, I played it without the hype. The game went to shit not long after the demo, and only got worse save for a few bosses and some music. In addition, to get the good ending, you go help two dykes hook up. This was obviously forced because before you had to do this, it was implied bonerman and fishface would go together, while the autist lizard was hopelessy obsessed with the protagonist. How is any of that non-game related in either game's case?

The puzzles are pretty brutal.
The game only requires some grinding. It does require a lot if you're bad at JRPGs and can't find a good weapon to use (there are so many you'd have to be a brain dead retard to not eventually come across some to survive). There is some RNG to the combat system (as is the case for most RPGMaker games) and yes they can lose you some fights. Basically there's a lot of retard-proofing at the start of the game and it automatically starts you off fairly weak as fuck. You can quickly get around it though or you can struggle. The game usually jumps in spikes of telegraphed difficulty at a time.
Basically its tough but you have a lot of freedom and tools at your disposal and exploration and sidequest takings are strongly rewarded. The map design is solid as well considering the "twist" of the game. Navigation of the dungeons and areas can be a real bitch, especially if you don't find shit like the flashlight or strong light sources, or an item that almost trivializes dungeons entirely.

Keep in mind it is a fetish game though.

As for guro it really depends on what your criteria are for calling something guro. I personally would not call any of the game's death CGs guro but your mileage may very well vary. There are death CGs aplenty though. It almost encourages death, especially to certain bosses. (Though it isn't likely you'll beat a lot of the "intended" ones on the first try, its possible I suppose).
Basically if death isn't your thing just avoid dying lmao :^)
Thankfully there's such a dearth of CGs that there's bound to be something you'll end up liking, even if its just the pantyshots.

Sack in advance), but if you fail you will end up seeing it. You sort of have to avoid it to avoid a game over in the first place.

I just played Meltys quest. Your slut level is an important game mechanic and is increased by number and variety of sex experiences. Annulingus, the scat scenes in the game that reference it heavily though don't show the shit itself visually, are one of the categories used to increase slut level. So the scat CGs had an effect on other parts of the game.

I was almost interested when you said "purity route" but I'm not anymore. Pure/virgin routes are objectively the best.

That's up to you to decide user, I've rarely run confusion strategies to be honest. Its not a bad weapon but there are better ones. People including myself usually savescum with a bookmark to get some strong ones early on. I won't reveal their location because you seem to be doing quite well on your own without me spoonfeeding.

Man user you have some really tough questions.
I personally just kept the scrolls on me and never mastered them for that reason because I liked having shields and only equipped it when I really wanted to dual-wield, but a lot of people liked Chijinda to be the dual-wielder because of the sheer quantity of weapons he's able to wield. Either way you'll have plenty of time to decide whether you want to make that decision or not because of how much AP is required to master it.
You can have both, neither or either one of them do it, its all on your playstyle and both are viable options but people like to make Chijinda the dual-wielder from what I've seen.

If there're no shields with unique passives/abilities, just higher def stats, I'll make Chijinda a dual wielder. If not, I'll just equip the book before certain fights so it won't be mastered but still be useful. Can I use confusion to get past high level normal enemies like the ones in the forest with the wolf, or would I be wasting my time?

Did that ages ago. You get it from the girl near the entrance to the rooftop where you fight the crows for the rope to the secret passage with the ghost, after you beat the crows for her. I imagine I have to inch the main story forward in order to get the shop restocked.

You already checked out the one strange building in the forest's left side and found the corpse?

Both of these are required to get to the tunnels where you fight the vengeful spirit and get pandora's box.
Those tunnels would have been hell without the cat.
If you're referring to the building by the merchant and save point, you get the card there, which is one of two things needed to access the tunnels with the vengeful spirit.

I think I can probably figure out what to do by exploring the forest areas that were too tough without the equipment I just got. What I really want to know is where the hell the flashlight battery is so every tunnel dungeon isn't a giant fucking slog.

Looks like you don't get the battery till a certain point in the game has been passed. You're almost to it, but you'll have to slog through those dungeons for now. They shouldn't be too hard at that point, its more the enemy encounters that are a pain there imo

A moderate amount. Its honestly hard to say since there are no other translations floating around at all. He didn't change the characters drastically or remove anything according to the people who could read nip on /d/, but he did add shit in, a lot of it good, some "neutral" and some bad.
Its a mixed bag honestly.

So kinda like how the BoF II fan translation was much higher quality and more faithful than the official one, but still altered a gag bathroom ghost to be Moaning Myrtle from Harry Potter and one other retarded change? That scene with the Lavos reference really bothers me though, since it was one of the serious scenes. Most other reference come off as comedic and in place, but this wasn't one of them.

There's water in the dark area immediately after you're shrunk. It uses the same tiles that normally impassable water uses. You can walk right over it, and I'm not talking about the waterway, but water in the corners of the rooms.

There are a good amount of lewd stuff later on. Snuff content is pretty common though, if you wanna avoid it just avoid dying (which might be hard because, well you'll wanna explore and find everything and check most of the girls to be honest). Just save frequently/in smart places, and it also should be pretty easy to remember who to avoid.
Oh, there are also lewd death scenes as well too. Kind of a hint to be careful even when lewding

I have no life. I've already played for 10 hours, and I wasted a good chunk of that grinding solo since I had no idea when I'd get more party members. I beat the lion solo using poison. Figured it was the intended method since you get a bunch of the shrooms right before the fight.

And those ten hours don't include all the time wasted doing something, and then reloading my save because I fucked something up or died. Are the stomping minigames meant to be random chance as to whether or not you can survive? It seems like sometime you can't get out from under the shadow nearly fast enough, and others, you have plenty of time to move out of the way.

The stomping minigames are not chance-based; once you learn a rhythm or pattern to avoiding getting stomped you'll never die to them unless you want to. (obviously be very sharp and smart about your movements when they try to crit you) There's a small number of NPCs or areas where there are scripted deaths with no minigames involved though but i assume that's not what you were referring to

I don't wanna spoil anything more than that though but there are bosses much later on that do give some lewd endings. It should be pretty obvious who they are though when you find them. A lot of the lewd stuff in the game occurs in non-combat situations though.
You didn't miss anything by Arachne though, don't worry. Your normal instincts were correct.
Most of the other lewd ones are done by scripted events or choices you make rather than results of combat though. There are a few though that you should try for but those are closer towards the end of the game than the beginning (and you should be checking them anyways). Anyways you'll find everything you're looking for in time, just be thorough. Your memory will serve you well for finding good CGs and girls.

Believe it or not that fight can be pretty frustrating for people. You were smart enough to use offensive items at least. Some people juet try to conserve them by using telekinesis or some other shit. The main issue people would have is getting stunned((iirc) and then getting fucked.
Also remember to save in different save slots when you feel it would be wise to. Its IMMENSELY helpful

The Endless Empty is shaping up to be a decent "kooky" RPG Maker game. It's kinda like Hylics but makes sense.

Gotta say, if you're traumatized by your character getting raped by an oversized cock turned into poisonous stinger, you'll definitely want to avoid this game. But I guess it's funny that the status effect you get from it is a bleeding anus, which slowly kills you.

I think the CGs is more the reward from that part than the items. Its a decent item though, but yeah. I think the apprentice miko was a bit more of a pain to deal with, maybe its because I enjoyed the Narue exploration part more

Late in the game I started using fast forward via cheat engine because everything was taking too long, and in addition some areas would inexplicably run much slower despite this beig fucking RPGmaker. I missed a lot of shit and I'm not sure how much of it was things I can't go back for, so I'm rerunning the game now with cheats. If there are multiple endings, I think I got the worst one becuase I killed Miku and never found what I needed for the shrink remote.

There's an evil ending, a "good" ending and a best ending (in terms of good-side ending). Evil ending is actually pretty great because it gives a nice CG and an… interesting conclusion. Good ending sucks, best ending is canon.

The only one of those I can answer is the holy blade, which you can get by beating the robot at the beginning of the game (the robot that heals) if you don't shut off the electricity before fighting him.

That's the Taitentachi. Which I have. Apparently to get the Pure Rosary/Durandal, you have to beat the blonde heavenly queen while shrunk without saving the furyou brothers yet, which is bullshit. I've gone through that segment of the game and everything else up until you get the gold key three times on this playthrough because I missed two of Miawa's diaries, one each time, which I assume are necessary for the best ending. I was absolutely sick of it at that point, and since it was an item, I just hacked it in. I talked to the dojo master and he said nothing, so I assume the triggering mechanism for him giving you the ultimate blade recipe are flags tied to the earning the blades rather than them being in your inventory.

Though I'm confused, as I assumed the witch's quest stuff wraps up before you even get shrunk due to the fact that you said the reward cuts off CGs.
