Shit internet connection

Anyone else have to deal with shit internet connection?
I live in the UK, near the countryside, and my internet connection is terrible.
Whenever I try and play MMOs, my ping is over 1500.
When I try and download off of Steam, I download at 300kbp/s.

Anyone else forced to deal with a shit internet connection?
How do you cope?

Play single player games.

300kbp/s download speed and that's at its best.
Most of my games are on Steam, unfortunately.

At least you aren't getting raped to the tune of ~$100/month for yours. The US has third-world infrastructure, and internet is overpriced as fuck. In South Korea, I could get significantly faster internet for a fraction of the price.

I think the other brits cope by pouring in thousands of dark skinned fellas from far away lands.
Myself, I just watch anime. If I'm lucky and leave it downloading 24/7 sometimes I can watch stuff without having to wait on the downloads.

Then download while you play something else. This ain't rocket science.

I'm a time warner cuck. Only good thing about this ISP is that I've never gotten a warning for piracy.

I pay $120 for a third of that speed m8, count your blessings

Have you called and threatened the pajeets that you're going to cancel if you don't get whatever their (((promotional pricing))) for new customers is?

Start pirating then.
Play old games with low file size while downloading the big ones. At 300kbs a 30gig download shouldn't take more than 3 days

I'm planning on joining the army, since I've got to get my kicks somewhere, so I probably wont have to deal with this connection for much longer (I hope).

I do that already, playing old games but the only things I've pirated is Hentai games.

Can't threaten them if they don't understand.
I'm honestly glad most of them live in squalor, I hope that recently emerged black death strain swallows that whole shithole of a country.

That's true, you do have it worse price-wise but if that image is relevant then your speed is astronomically better than mine.

2 megabits a second - Download
0.6-0.7 megabits a second - Upload
500, give or take, - Latency

Mine is 1.5 MB/s peak throughput download
164 KB/s peak throughput upload
at the very minimum 40ms ping and it can jitter 15~ms at a time.

If it's anything like the chairforce, you'll be sharing a

Live in the middle of the country. Where all the decent women still survive. So I get less than 50kb/s or so. Also stuck with only 1 option of ISP's.

venezuelan here, I just gave up on online multiplayer

...

I'll stay here

I hear slavs have pretty cheap and fast internet too.

$120 US Shekels

I'm lucky there is a provider who started installing fibre optics so I don't have to worry about slow speeds.

Keep being a cuck, goyim.

Dont worry Venezuelan, leftypol said its not real socialism.>>13816889

He said he lives in rural Mexico. Don't think he's white, amigo.

A little slow today.

Fuck, forgot this.

a little over 50 dollars but I haven't played any online games in a while, even before I moved and got this internet.

have you ever considered money pooling with your neighbors for a single but very powerful internet connection that ultimately would be a step up for all involved while still not getting the maximum performance?

I live in new zealand so the internet is both shit and all the close servers are dead or full of south-east asians.
I adjusted my playstyle to suit this and generally just play the really silly classes/whatevers where reactions don't matter and bullshitting around is more fun than the direct competition.

I want to murder everyone in leftypol. they want to juggle with words to try and distance themselves from shit, I mean, really? state capitalism? the state using its power to control the market is fucking what other than pure leftism? Jesus Christ.

polite sage for off topic

Live in an apartment in the USA, in an area where Cox literally has a monopoly. There are no other internet providers or cable providers, unless you go satellite (and the apartment doesn't allow that because the dishes sticking out of windows). Pay like $100 a month for internet/cable, and it's shit, but I can't do anything about it. The really weird part is that the speed varies wildly at random times; sometimes it'll be so slow for a few hours that it's like being on AOL in 1995 (takes five minutes to load a single picture), other times it's almost fast enough to play multiplayer Minecraft! For the most part, I don't even bother with anything other than singleplayer.

I think they're throttling me, but I can't be sure and of course couldn't do anything about it. I couldn't even guess if this is the "typical" speed I get. Every time I test I get a couple mb/s more or less, and I swear I've done this before and had it return like 30.

Either way, I've definitely "won" this competition. I don't think anyone in the world has worst internet than this.

Jesus fucking H Christ lad
Do you work as a CEO for a provider company or something? What the fuck, seriously.

I live in Australia, I pay $99 a month for 100gb of data at this speed. The speed varies wildly. This test is actually really high for me. I usually get 1Mbps. During peak times I get disconnected for around a minute every half hour or so. It's really frustrating.

We've got a national broadband network being deployed at the moment. It's a shitshow, people complain that it's way slower than advertised. It's supposed to go 25Mbps, but if I can get to 5Mbps I'll be chuffed.

I live right next to the state's capital too, It's not like I'm out in the middle of nowhere or anything.

Having shit internet is the worst. I feel your pain user.

My current problem is having fine internet but only wanting to play a game that has nothing but connection issues. It's miserable. I feel like crying but it's so defeating that such a strong emotion isn't able to come out. I feel dead inside. I just want to die.

It's ok the Muslims will either force you out of the country (hopefully better internet wherever you wind up) or kill you.

Kill yourself, tits or gtfo you dumb fucking roastie, no one wants to hear about how horrible your period is.

22/2 Mbps via DSL for 18.5 USD with no limits; Central Eastern Europe

30$ for 100/100mbits unlimited fibre. 10/10mbits unlimited free wifi downtown as well. There used to be unlimited 3G phone internet a couple of years ago but they started jewing when the smartphone boom happened. I'm in the land of

YES

Don't read into it. Just imagine I posted a sad cartoon being sad

At least you don't live on a boat, with 600 ping

$51 for this but i think that my isp is doing some traffic shaping, which is illegal in my country, so i am trying to gather proof to use against them, Funny thing i think that they realized and completely stopped using filters on my connection…

This is called traffic shaping, look up over there if this is legal

I have a similar problem where I live problem is that it's really fucking hard to prove they're doing it, thankfully not really shit I personalmly care about that much (YT, Twitch, Netflix, MEGA etc)

If you're in the UK and you're thinking of moving to the middle of nowhere try moving near a military base. There's usually good broadband packages there since they have people living on camps.

If it weren't for the shit signal with 50 resyncs/hour it'd be alright.

Where exactly do you guys live?

Are you seriously complaining about those speeds at that prirce range?
Come to rural Canada, you hoser.

Boat.

What's slow internet?

Please explain further. Are you in the navy?

Fucking so? I once spent an entire month downloading a 30GB torrent of Anime on my shitty internet, and watching that Anime turned out to be one of the best experiences in my entire life. You can download any video game ever made on your internet connection, you just have to be fucking patient and use torrents.

...

While my sustained rate is pretty shit, I do thankfully get short bursts of good download speeds.

The US has third world infrastructure if you live in commieforina.
>tfw it only is really fucking the worst west coast

Rural Brazil here

...

Fuck off user, your internet is literally almost 100x faster than mine.

...

$8.8 a month

i'm happy.

No, I live on a boat. By choice.

What's relaying all your data through a known dataminer botnet with lots of capabilities to store gathered data?

in the Middle East, a 10 mb connection costs 100 dollars.

Would getting an actual router and not the one provided by the ISP improve anything? At all?

I'm happy

Australia, 60 dollarydoos a month. Speed test was limited slightly by my QoS.

Q⋆U⋆E⋆S⋆T⋆I⋆O⋆N
I'm being offered a 50 Mbps plan with a shitty 500GB cap (Fiber). My current connection is 6Mbps with no cap (ADSL). Do I bite the bullet?

Do you download a lot of shit?
I used to have a 100GB cap with the internet I got from work and that wasn't nearly enough.

Modem != router my man. Modems handle digitising the signal coming from your phone line and vice versa. Routers, well, route traffic between your LAN and the WAN (innanet).

Nowadays consumer (see: garbage) gear calls all-in-one modem-routers just "routers", which confuses the fuck out of people. Anyway back on topic, it depends. I was running an el-cheapo TP-Link modem and it was hot garbage. I've since replaced my access points, modem and router with gear that isn't cheap chinkshit. Immediately the network started not being cancerous and the modem was able to stay synced for more than half an hour.

At most 3 30GB games a month, then there's youtube, updates, WiiU USB helper… I'm not entirely sure if I can get to 500GB a month.
Thing is, we're two people with similar habits sharing the same connection.

Fuck I meant

for

Holy shit. What speed are you paying for and are you connected wired or wirelessly?

Read up the fine print.
You might not be getting 50Mbps all the time and there might be strings attached to those 500GB available.

Do you bind yourself to the subscription and do you have any cancellation rights?
Because if you have the right to cancel at anytime the first couple of weeks it wouldn't hurt to try it, unless you get a special deal with your provider right now.
Also this

...

Never go for a data capped connection if you're sharing it with people.

Ask specifically if you are entering a "contract" (such as a two-year agreement) or a "no contract" plan. no contract means you can cancel any time, usually. Also, I am personally very against data caps, but unless you are constantly watching HD video/downloading HD video/games you probably will not hit that cap. I do not know your habits so I don't know if that cap will effect you horribly. Finally, inquire what are the consequences for going over your data cap; sometimes it is throttling and other times it is large fees.

It is only 50mb/s but I feel like I am living in the fucking fastlane.

Uh, yeah, I'd say so
Also you left your IP address in the corner of the screen, retard

Fluctuates wildly but it's definitely shit most of the time. Wireless. Someone else keeps hogging the only ethernet cable but then again, he's the one footing the bill. Thing is, it's just the laptop. The 4+ year old laptop with what I assume is a shit wireless card. Pic related is from my PC with a presumably less outdated wireless network card (uses PCI instead of PCI-E).

Also, both my laptop and PC are too far from the router and modem to bother with a second ethernet cable. First one is a big enough hassle as it is, snaking all against the living room. A hundred feet, I think.

If you’re using wireless I’d consider investing in some 802.11ac access points. The Ubiquiti AC Lites are good.

tfw triple digit ping to the very first node in my ISPs network, often times 4 digits during peak hours
tfw can only play ping sensitive online games at 2 am to 7 am then connection starts to become shit again
tfw only decent service for less than a quarter of the day at hours which fucks up my sleep cycle
tfw faster paced online games are the only ones i really like anymore

I would send them my dick picks if in return I would get that connection

You have not told me the speed you are paying for. IF you are paying for 3 Mb/s download speed and getting 1.66 Mb/s down,t hat is not entirely unreasonable, but if you are paying for 20 Mb/s down it is. I am assuming this is a connection from a cable company or is it DSL over a phone line? If you have WiFi and are using a wireless router or router/modem combo that you have access to you should have plenty of Ethernet ports on the back to set up a wired connection. If you get a significantly better connection when testing wired (which you should) just go online and buy a 5 dollar 50-100ft Ethernet cable, unless you have some crazy living situation where this would not be viable.

I'm not the one paying for it and it'd be odd if I ask the one who is paying for it what type of speed we're supposed to get. He probably doesn't care because again, he's the one with the ethernet (mostly plays MMOs). Not helping matters is that he has yet to change the default password. We have no phone line. Once again, it's a bit of hassle getting a cable that long in here. The way the rooms are arranged would make it too easy to trip over. The upper wall is an option but I don't know if the tape we have is strong enough.

Furthermore, what brand of cable costs $5 for 50-100ft? The store near me charges over $20 for less.

I don't think it is odd to ask what internet speed you should be getting, he may not realize he is being scammed, but I don't know your social situation with your roommate. As for a cheap Ethernet cable, you can find them on Amazon cheap (USD). NEVER buy cables retail unless you absolutely need them immediately as they are marked up at least 50%.

One of the providers in my area has recently begun offering a DSL-LTE combined tariff.
It's uncapped but requires an ISP-provided router that can either be rented for 6 dolans/month or separately purchased for around 400 dollaridoos. It's my only option available for speeds beyond 16mbps.
I probably won't be buying into it but do any of you anons have experience with those sorts of things?
Was curious wether or not VoIP and Internets would continue to operate in case the landline connection fails, which is a big issue since (((they))) made it mandatory.

It's far more expensive but you could consider getting a pair of Powerline adapters if the cable is a no go.

I certainly hope Optimum isn't scamming. In any case, if they mark up the cables that much, I'm afraid how much he bought them for years ago. A shame, I like buying retail because it's faster.

Never heard of Powerline. Sounds extremely convenient but where does it get the wireless signal? Itself or the router?

My internet connection is ok usually, no hiccups from streaming and I very rarely get dropped from games, but its $90 fucking dollars and has a 1TB a month limit. This inspired me to search around. A friend of mine literally 4 blocks away recommended his ISP but its not available in my area. The only other option is a satellite provider and I hear that is spotty as hell.

I dont know what you're talking about with commiefornia having bad infrastructure

It really depends on the area, it almost varies from block to block.

I'm good
This speedrate is might seem average, but to me this is fucking luxury

Holy shit i thought it was just a meme
I mean, you poor lads. I might be a 3rd world shithole but i got cheap internet ($45 dollarydooes along with cable tv but who watches the electric jew these days?) and pretty okay connection even during peak hours.
-t. mudslime neighbor

forgot pic

The signal originates at the adapter, the router merely sends content to be transmitted.

T-Moblie, everyone.

How much are you paing for that?

I live in the country too but they recently started churning out fibre to tiny villages. You sure you havent got that near you OP?

50MB/s DL and 20MB/s UL for $30/month here. The fucking catch is that outside the country (such as for MMO and download) it is 7MBs DL and 1MB/s UL in actuality.

They are, apparently, doing it now.
They are in the middle of my city, so their online map says, but it was meant to be done like 4 months ago.

Why do they do that? Are you an aussie?

...

MMOs as in actual MMOs or just multiplayer games korean 'mmos'?

Go the fuck back to reddit.
