Is a second one being made? First one had potential but the mechanics were barebone and very poorly implemented, what a shame
But thats an amazing game.

Oh yeah AVP2 TBBC servers gamenight, I can see it now.

And the best of them all: why does this game play like a Quake melee arena, but the custom maps are made like this is Half Life, Counter Strike and Alien Isolation?
Especially why are the multiplayer maps designed in such a way meant for singeplayer scripted events?
You know, you aren't wrong.
why are the player models so small?
why are the bullets so small?
why is the bullet spread so small and uneven?
IS THIS A FPS FOR ANTS?
The most important complaint in the history of a game. Proportions are everything. That and Monolith somehow managed to royally fuck it up.
Heey guyys wanna play a CO-OP map against AI in multiplayer?
AI-controlled aliens are near invincible because of their fucked up armor rating in multiplayer.
At least you can hit them in specific areas (left arm and tail) and at most you can use splash damage and armor-ignoring damage to deal with cheating-hacking alien AI.
Monolith made sure screw up any attempt at co-op maps for multiplayer.
Oh but the problem is when the map creators forget to add a pause for the spawner and the alien just keeps respawning in front of you as soon as you kill it.
It's even more sad when the players are more busy finding out every trigger in the map rather than the death matches.
There's PvP crazed players and then PvE crazed ones. The PvE ones are extremely frustrated for the lack of a good capable editor+engine and the PvP players are frustrated because of the OP weapons, hacks, shitty gameplay and 360 no scope contests between snipers and staggering pulse rifle marines.
Grenade spammers and AoE spamming newbies becomes a problem even for the pros. This wouldn't be a problem if the AvP2 characters weren't so squishy to explosives. They die far too easily from 1 explosion even when they're 2 meters away from it.
In other games your character can have a grenade exploding under him and he's fine. In AvP2 you have any tiny distant explosion killing you.
These games were never good. Every single one of them were pure shit. Even Colonial Marines was better.

>You will never recombine alien DNA to get the perfect waifu
The Lith Tech engine still sucks dick, but you know what sucks dick even more? game companies making a habit out of never releasing an editor in 2008+, let alone the source code of a game.
DEdit was fucked up and constantly threw insane geometry errors during the compile process. I gave up on AvP2 when the developers couldn't explain why maps would be missing most of their geometry during compiles for testing, and would be missing different shit every time they were compiled from the same, un-modified file. My map was going to be an escape map where marines started at a crash-landed dropship in a river that led to a lab in a cliffside, behind a waterfall, where they would snake through the lab, upward, sealing doors behind them, until escaping at the top of the cliff where a pair of APCs were idling.
Only screenshots I have left from fifteen fucking years ago. Only bits and pieces of the map files still exist.
If Monolith couldn't even get something as basic as a goddamn compiler working properly then I understand why I'm retarded to ask for working vehicles and proper physics.
There were a few maps where you had to ride in a truck and I kept sliding off it like an idiot at every corner.
I remember you in another thread, too bad I never got to playtest your map.
Do you have a layout,a sheet of paper or a replica in G-mod or Minecraft of your mod? I'm curious what the map looked like exactly from your imagination.
Your map sounds better than Suk_Stronghold 2.
user, I don't know how to say this but you have pure shit taste. Go full /xen/ or not at all.
I never wanted a evil genius clone until now
I'll whip something up. I still have the .ed files for the clipping prefabs I was making. What? The dropship and APC had no clipping boundaries when placed as objects in a map, so you just ran right through them. I made invisible brushes that fit the vehicles to prevent that, and also to allow aliens to crawl all over them. When sections of the laboratory part of the map were nothing but an endless void, I gave up. I was making the map, not by shaving down primitives, but ONE FUCKING VERTEX AT A TIME, and only copying the resulting textured items to make repeating hallways, ventilation shafts, alien hive architecture, and trees. I'd even made a Metroid to put into a canister in the lab, but the engine was all pissy about scripting, and I dimly recall having some issue with making it bob around and rotate.
Anywho, here's what I doodled up. The project was being worked on in 2002, and I didn't have a name picked for the map yet, but it was clearly going to be an escape map.
11.jpg and 12.jpg were screenshots I took of other people's maps while they were making them, to spot busted geometry, but this was not because of compiling issues. THOSE would make half of the map disappear without throwing any errors into the console.
God, those fucks at Monolith making AI drones take a billion bullets to kill in multiplayer maps, killed so many fun ideas. Yeah, you could easily waste them with the flamethrower, but most classes didn't carry those. Imagine being able to release a shitload of drones to cause chaos for the corporate or marine players in an evacuation map? Destroy some control system at point A, and a door at point B opens up a pile of crunchy trouble.
I discovered you could use the shotgun to kill them, but only with slug shots. No AP bullets despite their intent being to take down armored aliens.
You could also use the 4 grenades from the grenade launcher, even the EMP ones.
The rest of the weapons had no effect.
I remember the exo-suit was useful against MP AI aliens.
I didn't test out what predator weapons would kill MP aliens.
I think the speargun did decent damage? Hard to remember. I recall they didn't show up in various vision modes correctly or something, too. I'm surprised that I remember even this much from fifteen years ago. Another piece of bullshit was the fact that skins were client side, so you could make every class a solid, bright color, and stealth would mean pretty much fuck all. I would often play as a drone, hanging from the ceiling, waiting for an opportunity, but before long, people would just run into the room, look around, one-shot me with a grenade, and keep running, even though I didn't move, and was in a dark spot on the map.
tbh
This is seriously the best mode in the game. Deathmatch a shit.
==WANT SOME CANDY?==
Oh yeah I remember that. If you crouch then you appear on the radar, that was so fucking bullshit.
My disappointment when I found out that most AvP2 custom maps are horrible when it comes to scripted campaign co-op fun.
I got spoiled by Starcraft 1 and Warcraft 3's excellent optimized engine and great editor which could turn a RTS into an instant roleplaying storytelling RPG experience with just a few condition triggers.

stuck forever in legal limbo
Yeah AVP2 why couldn't you be like your little brother, Half Life?

SS13 has a pretty good alien simulation game mode.
no it really doesn't and you should feel bad for thinking so
Jesus anonymous, you might as well play The Thing maps in Starcraft 1 if you're immersed by top-down perspectives and ms paint pixels.
But hey at least the Predator jump got improved. Unlike in AvP2 where jump a max of 12 feet, in AvP3 you can jump up to 60-200 feet.
I really like SS13 and aliums, so of course this skews my views a little.
while there's alot wrong with ss13, it's not bad tbh but xenomorph are awful in it
Guys what if we… combined Assassin's Creed with Aliens? :O
Oh man bring back memories user.
3 praetorians and the rest going runners always murders that wall.
My trips confirm.
Hey anyone who played AvP2. What did you think of the Marine mission where you run away from the Praetorian and at the end you can either run away in the vent or try to kill it in the hallway.
What did you think of it compared to the similar The Raven mission in CM?
I thought AvP2 was great, what was wrong with it?
are you serious? You could run away?
Once you break the welds keeping the vent gate, the praetorian breaks the gate door behind you and starts running towards you.
With the vent gate open you can either crouch and walk through it, ending the mission right there.
Or stay and try to kill the praetorian with your smartgun.
