He looks cool, he's a force of nature that eventually grows to tolerate and protect human beings, grown from a reptile creature which human beings associate as lovable pets.The problem with Shin Godzilla is that this is a disgusting looking, evil alien organism that just looks too goofy to be cool. They went pure villainous creature feature on this one.Which I respect, doing something new with the source material. But I can't help but wonder if I would've liked this much more if Shin was just a mirror villain to our actual Godzilla we're familiar with.

How do you think Shin would fare agains other Godzillas? I definitely see him destroying the Showa godzilla as well as early Heist. Pretty sure Burning, Final Wars, and GMK Godzilla would beat him. I see shin also beating 2000 and the Kiryu sage Godzillas

Shin Godzilla was boring as all fuck with some of the worst English dialogue in any movie I've ever heard, and that's not getting into the laughable special effects and costumes. Several times I nearly fell asleep watching it. This is a masterpiece, my favorite godzilla movie, and my favorite movie from that year. I saw it 3 times in the 9 days it was in theaters here. It was great because by the third time I remembered what everyone was saying so I didn't have to read the 408709 subtitles per second and just got to actually enjoy what was unfolding on screen.
