I really liked it years ago but then I realised a big part of it was all the Anderson/Supermarionation cribs. Thats why Jet Alone doesn't fit in, its a classic Thunderbirds tribute episode although I suppose Ritsuko does explain the nature of the Evangelion even if everyone thinks she is talking metaphorically ("Technology and the human soul"). This in itself is kind of a reference to Brains who was always heading off to international conferences to talk about Thunderbirds technology under an assumed name and nobody questioned it.
