The Heroic Honey-Bee

New Logo EditionWiki: cor63au.fandom.com/wiki/The_Heroic_Honey-Bee>What is the Heroic Honey-Bee?The Heroic Honey-Bee is a rule 63 Alternate Universe version of Marvel's Spider-Man, also known as the Bee-verse. Not only are major characters gender-swapped, their concepts are swapped as well - For example, instead of Peter Parker being bitten by a radioactive spider, the Heroic Honey-Bee, Petra Parker, is stung by a radioactive honey bee. However, most non-powered characters and the larger Marvel Universe are unchanged in this Alternate Universe.>Aren't these just OCs? Why tie them to the Marvel Universe? This started off as a rule 63 Marvel AU that kind of spiraled out of control. If you want to just simply see these characters as OCs, you can do so. We've tried our best to decouple Honey-Bee from the Marvel Universe here: cor63au.fandom.com/wiki/Decoupling_The_Bee-verseTopic of the Thread: We've got a ton of characters, now let's do something with them! >>137649831Hey, there was also an idea to expand on backstory for some characters:>It all starts with Nectar's backstory.>Her parents try to bring her back. Their first attempt resulted in Burgeon. who they didn't really treat well and abandoned once they hit a dead end.>They fall in despair and give their scientific career, selling off all their honey & bee research to Norma.>Someone tries to bring them back into business by connecting Fritzes with Sytsevich family.>At first they were hesitant, but seeing Alexis reminded them of Maya and they get to work. There's currently a few variants of what happened next:>It works straight away, but Fritzes got even more depressed and killed themselves. Nectar wakes up on her own.>Same as Option 1, but it takes time for Alexis to transform and that was a final blow for Fritzs.>Edgy "tar" idea where Fritzes go back to Maya after Doe's success only to realize that he/she (one of the parents take its own life) only way to give her a human form is to use human body/blood as a "tar" for a honey that contains their daugther. You can put two and two together, but it's not directly stated.Started at (follow replies): desuarchive.org/co/thread/137301464/#137381262There were also discussions as to how expland Norma's role in this, as well as how Serval could've been connected to Fritzes. On that note...desuarchive.org/co/thread/137301464/#137400458Didn't knew that. My bad....and I'm pretty sure there were more ideas for Blitzer thrown around, like her rivalry with Doe who she hates.>>137650715>like Maya's parentsSomeone else remembers it too!

>>137650873>expanding Norma's roleI think we could do a thing where the parents are hired to different projects, like maybe the mom is hired by Norma and Oscorp, while the dad is hired to "cure" Alexis? And them trying to save Maya would be more of a background thing while they work?

>>137650873I kind of like a combination of 2 and 3. Like, there's a delay in Alexis's condition and they become depressed, so they decide to kill themselves in their daughter's vat, and then just as the dad jumps into the vat, the Fritzes get a call from the Sytsevich stating that Alexis survived and is awake, and they thank them for their work?

>>137650966>I think we could do a thing where the parents are hired to different projectsMaybe. It would've made sense for them to split off and go separate ways (temporary or not) over the tragedy as it sometimes happens in real life.>And them trying to save Maya would be more of a background thing while they work?Perhaps. My original (and current) line of thinking is that they didn't want to work directly with Norma for whatever reason and them handing over their research to her was a final act of defeat that marked the end of their life's work. I think even one of the anons suggested that Norma could've claimed this research as her own and was dead-set on making sure that Fritzes role remains unknown to the public. They stopping their attempts to bring Maya back in a way highlights how they're not all that great as people. Of course, they would be perfect parents for Maya back when everything was normal, but this and their handling of Burgeon showcases that they're far from being good. So this episode with Doe serves as a slightly redemption-esque arc of sorts that sets them on the path of making things right.>>137651241>the Fritzes get a call from the Sytsevich stating that Alexis survived and is awake, and they thank them for their work?Yes.Speaking of the assosiates. I don't why I haven't mentioned it as the time, but I considered Samantha Smythe for it. That kind of lines up with one of the origins for Bee-Keepers were Smythes are the fans of Honey-Bee

>>137651300>They stopping their attempts to bring Maya back in a way highlights how they're not all that great as people.I mean, you could easily just do this by having them work for unsavory characters, like Norma, and like their previous employers that lead to them accidentally turning Maya into living goop and in the creation of Burgeon. And with one of the parents working directly for Norma, it makes Norma all the more despicable for striking the parent's name off the record. >SmytheI think there's a point where we have to ask "Do these characters NEED to be connected?" Like with Norma and Serval, it helps make the Fritzes more complex, by having them work for bad people, knowingly or not. But with the Smythes? It just kind of feels silly to say "Oh, and they're involved too!"

New Art! I saw Shin Kamen Rider a couple weeks ago, and I decided to (finally!) draw Bronze Bear doing a Rider Kick. This is labeled "v2 fixed", because v1 had some very wonky proportions for his left leg, and I fixed it for v2

Attached: Bronze_Bear_Rider_Kick_v2_fixed.png (1920x1200, 734.65K)

>>137651440>I think there's a point where we have to ask "Do these characters NEED to be connected?"...okay, now I think I remember why I haven't mentioned that before. lolGood point, especially since one of the reasons I even bothers with this Fritzes ideas was to diversify the setting, so you don't stumble into SHAPE in every corner.>I mean, you could easily just do this by having them work for unsavory charactersFair enough. I just wanted them to have more agendy and direct responsibility for their actions. Since Nectar's backstory before was open to interpretation, I decided to lean into them being kind of shitty in some aspects. Not totally bad, but overall neutral. They started off with good intention to make a name for themselves on their own terms only for it all to crush down. With Burgeon, it would probably make more sense if Flitzes were narcissistic parents with Maya being their golden child. They took her in from an early age and practically adopted her, but treating and viewing her as a test subject to a point where they didn't even bother remembering her real name (if she even had one). Also, I suppose this thread probably won't hold on for long and end short since Spider-Man posting is pretty strong currently due to Across The Spider-Verse.

AM I FRENCH? BECAUSE I’M HUNGRY FOR SOME FROG LEGS dipped in honey

>>137651668>so you don't stumble into SHAPE in every cornerFair. Maybe make it like a US government counterpart to SHAPE? It's unsavory, they use homeless people and orphans as test subjects, etc. And the Fritzes are knowingly complicit in these activities, before their daughter accidentally gets turned to goop? >so, I suppose this thread probably won't hold on for long and end short since Spider-Man posting is pretty strong currently due to Across The Spider-VerseWe've survived worse shitposting. But I do think the two week gap is too short between threads. I think we should go monthly to give more time to refresh creative juices?

>>137651786>Maybe make it like a US government counterpart to SHAPE?I think it would be more compelling if we keep it small, if that makes sense. You know, the solution to this sort of thing isn't always some big corporation or secret society. Some characters get their origins from underdogs or something like that.>And the Fritzes are knowingly complicit in these activities, before their daughter accidentally gets turned to goop? This is probably just my preference, but I would rather have "Nectar incident" to be a starting point in this ordeal with Burgeon being their "great sin" or whatever you prefer to call it.>I think we should go monthly to give more time to refresh creative juices?Perhaps. It's that previous late threads had more energetic starts, so I'm not sure if enough regulars are even around to make such a decision. I believe this thread was planned for yesterday, which is what might be the cause of it. That and, again, new film.Although there's something about "creative juices" I wanted to mention. This is way too far off from coming to fruition, but would it be okay to take on this "Fritz storyline" and tell it in short story format? Probably something like a diary entries from before Maya's incident up until dad's final message before he goes into the vat.If I even bother to go through with it, at best some kind of results (more like first steps) would take place in late July or early August. I've been all over the place when it comes to what I should do with my free time and what I need to try out with "proper writing" (short stories, fanfiction, etc.) being one of them since it feels like I'm reaching a dead end in a new hobby + need to explore my options.

>>137651979Personally I think it would make sense the other way. Have them work on Burgeon, at the expense of their relationship with Maya, Maya becomes goop, and that's when they realize that they do love their daughter, and that begins their downwards spiral further? But they do work for whatever evil organization or whatever that commissioned Burgeon before all this happens?>but would it be okay to take on this "Fritz storyline" and tell it in short story format? Probably something like a diary entries from before Maya's incident up until dad's final message before he goes into the vatI don't think anyone's going to say no to more content! Maybe the epilogue would be the voicemail from Alexis's family telling them that the procedure was a success and that Alexis is awake and healthy?>I believe this thread was planned for yesterday, which is what might be the cause of it.Nah, in the previous thread, the last words were that this current thread was to be on June 10th, which is today. These threads have been slow to start ever since we returned from hiatus, so I think whatever creative burnout we were feeling towards the end of the first run of threads is still lingering around now

>r63 au>gwen and mj aren't gender changeFr tho whats even the point? More yuri ship for honey?

>>137652093>Personally I think it would make sense the other way.It just doesn't click with me as much as the original concept. Perhaps what I'm holding onto is the constrast between Nectar & Burgeon in that case: while Maya was raised in (overly) loving family, Burgeon was more like an animal in laboratory.>Maybe the epilogue would be the voicemail from Alexis's family telling them that the procedure was a success and that Alexis is awake and healthy?Could be. Too early to tell since I would have to thing about the chapters themselves, their amount and all that.>Nah, in the previous thread, the last words were that this current thread was to be on June 10th, which is today. I thought it was 11th for some reason, sorry.>These threads have been slow to start ever since we returned from hiatusIt felt more energetic to me, but I was relatively new to these threads anyhow.

>>137652205The entire concept was that only the characters with superpowers/have a secret hero/villain idea were swapped, so instead of Felicia, you have Felix/Guard Dog, etc. The limitation was only to give a stopping point for characters, otherwise people will go whole hog and also swap Uncle Ben and JJJ and minor characters like Betty Brant, et al. Shipping only came around later when people realized that Spidey's love triangle between MJ, Gwen, and Felicia was a big part of his character, so they tried to recreate it here, with Johnny Storm, Guard Dog (kind of? People want him to be platonic, but it could go in that direction), and Drone

Attached: Honey-Bee_Human_Torch.png (1950x784, 2.22M)

>>137652205Yes, that's literally the entire point of this "AU", all the pretences of narrative and worldbuilding are just window-dressing.This whole thing is literally the same as a horny teenage girl writing yaoi fanfics of Supernatural or Doctor Who or whatever the fuck.

>>137652218>while Maya was raised in (overly) loving family, Burgeon was more like an animal in laboratoryI think you could still have this happen, with the Fritzes being loving and caring at home, but being cold and heartless to their test subjects, Burgeon included, at work. That would at least, in my eyes, reinforce the idea that the Fritzes aren't entirely good people, but are good parents.

>>137652294Well thats kinda dumbIf its an entire AU of spiderman, then everyone should be gender changedI'm not against it, but it's dumb that a major character stays the same but with added powers

>>137652381>it's dumb that a major character stays the same but with added powersGwen and MJ didn't originally have powers, it was later on in the threads that someone pitched the idea to keep them somewhat relevant, since their roles as love interests were kind of supplanted by Johnny Storm, Harry Osborne (for a bit), Guard Dog, Drone, and I guess Toxic?

>>137652367Well, I'm just on the fence about the "organisation" and "other test subject" idea. Although the latter would've probably made some sense since Fritzes had to do something in that time period, but at this point I think you might as well go with them simply moving over to Norma's company.Maybe another thing that bothers me is what kind of story it is. Original rendition makes it more personal. Sure, it covers some blank spaces for various characters and indirectly connects them, but overall what we have here is family tragedy. While adding "oh, there was this big corporation with horrible experiences" makes it a bit too grand... But I'm probably just overthinking it.

Does maya's parents work with whoever jackals counterpart here? Cuz i don't see the connection of making super bees and jackals abomination?

>>137652612>Does maya's parents work with whoever jackals counterpart here?It was suggested, but I'm not sure if we're going through with it.

>>137652488I mean, either way works. If you feel like Maya becoming living goo should be the starting point of her parent's downward spiral, I'm not against it. I just think there should be some kind of lead up beforehand showing that they may be good parents, but they do willingly work for morally twisted people before their spiral>>137652612I think it was pitched, but I do agree that Serval's research on cloning and genetic modification has very little overlap with whatever the Fritzes were working on. Maybe a small bit regarding genetic manipulation, but personally I don't think it's fully necessary to have all our geneticists to have worked with each other and be connected.

>>137652739>I just think there should be some kind of lead up beforehand showing that they may be good parents, but they do willingly work for morally twisted people before their spiralThat's a valid point. I suppose I'm looking at it from the perspective of aforemention potential short story thing where it starts off positively, but gets sidetracked by abrupt tragedy and then it goes grim.>very little overlap with whatever the Fritzes were working on.Fritzes could've viewed both Miley and Norma as rivals of sorts with both looking into the same subjects as them. For example, totally disregard Warren and think that working for Osborn is below their dignity.

>>137652865>Fritzes could've viewed both Miley and Norma as rivals of sorts with both looking into the same subjects as themI do like the idea that they are aware of what else is going on in the genetic modification space, like reading papers and meeting Miley (and Clawdia) at conferences or something, but I don't think either of the other geneticists should be involved in the Fritz's downfall, or the creation of Nectar, Burgeon, or Doe.

>>137653001>like reading papers and meeting Miley (and Clawdia) at conferences or somethingIdeally, I think that should be the plan.>I don't think either of the other geneticists should be involved in the Fritz's downfall, or the creation of Nectar, Burgeon, or Doe.Exactly. Honey-Bee already serves as an exception to the rule, in a way. It should be all them, just them.

I'm drawing something else right now, but when I'm done I plan on drawing Michelle O'Hara Honey Bee 2099.

>>137654005>Michelle O'Hara Honey Bee 2099Can't wait to see it! Speaking of, what would be her backstory?

>>137654033AlcheMix (Honeyverse Alchemax and Nestlé/Kraft expy) is using mutant bees to create cheap and plentiful honey. Geneticist Michelle O'Hara is in charge of the bees. An envious coworker tries to kill her with bee mutagen but instead creates the Heroic Honeybee of 2099!

>>137654005Is she going to be based on the comics version of 2099, or off of the ATSV movie version?>>137654070I guess that works, lol.

>>137654368Comics version, obviously! Comics Miguel is best Miguel.

I know we had an idea where Petra gets sent to the future and interacts with her future self and her future daughters (father unknown/unrevealed). Would current Petra also interact with 2099? Like would 2099 also be Old!Petra's replacement like Batman Beyond while Old!Petra's daughters have their own hero identities? Or would this future arc be more when Old!Petra is more middle aged, and 2099 is further into the future?

>>1376546392099 is 76 years into the future so Petra's daughters would already have retired. I also assumed Michelle would be her own thing like Miguel is.

>>137654827Fair point, although I guess that means Petra's grandchildren didn't go into the hero business? What about the clones? Are they sterile, or does the sheer number of them lead to Petra inadvertently becoming the next Genghis Khan, and everyone in the future has some form of Bee DNA (BeeNA?)

>>137654827>I also assumed Michelle would be her own thing like Miguel isDo you think Michelle would have her own set of "frenemies" based on the OG? Or would their relationship be different? Like Toxic 2099 deals more in poisons and is definitely more villainous compared to OG Toxic, who's just an attention whore and still a friend?

>>137655641I think Michelle's rogues gallery would definitely be less friendly in general. Hornet 2099 would be a cyborg instead of a symbiote and in general I think switching tech and bio powers for 2099 would be cool.

>>137656038>in general I think switching tech and bio powers for 2099 would be cool. So, what, Michelle has natural wings, but has mechanical stingers, and goggles with a HUD instead of Petra's natural pathfinding? Someone brought up Batman Beyond, and I think it'd be cool if instead of just having 2099 versions of Petra's rogues, Michelle has her own set of rogues, with only one or two carrying over, like Purple Pixie 2099 or Centipede 2099, and everyone else is original, just like how Batman Beyond only had Joker and Mr. Freeze carry over from Bruce, and everyone else was original

>>137656160Miguel has slight variations from Peter's powers so making tweaks for Michelle should follow suit. Michelle being able to spit honey rather than use shooters and having natural wings and grippy fingers and toes would be a good compliment to mechanical stingers and HUD visor with an AI being an inversion of Miguel's AI assistant.

>>137656278>Michelle being able to spit honeyMaybe her costume has mandibles that open up to allow her to spit honey? I'm also guessing the honey doesn't have the healing properties Petra's does.

>>137656278So let's actually note down what Michelle gets from the mutagen and what she gets from her suitMutagen:>Natural wings>Spitting Honey>Naturally sticky hands and feet for wall climbingSuit:>Visor with HUD>AI (Kind of like Jarvis/Cortana?)>Mechanical StingersWould enhanced strength and agility be from the mutagen, or from the suit?

>>137656956Enhanced strength/agility should be natural and the grip should be more like the hooks on real bee feet similar to Miguel's talons.

It feels incredibly sparse>Wings>Honey>Hooks on hands and feet>Strength/Agility>>137657635I think he was asking what the Bee-verse equivalent to Paul was, but we're not touching anything from the latest comics>>137657753I think we discussed this before, but all I can remember are:>Honey-Bee/Toxic becomes canon instead of Honey-Bee/Johnny Storm, because pandering>Mass clone genocide, for drama, but none of the named ones die

>>137658002I think Michelle getting more agility and balance/spatial awareness than Petra does would balance out the lack of extra powers. Maybe throw in superhuman reaction speed and more intuitive flying skills.

>>137658002Fair enough, though I think that HB Paul is actually kind of a tame topic. Paul has no powers or costume, and therefore is not swappedSince Honey-Bee isn’t Spider-Man, MJ never meets Paul. Because she never meets Paul they never get together and Paul never learns of her. Because of that, he probably just goes on with his life, meets a nice random redhead, goes on a few dates, and gets an apartment with her. The reason why we shouldn’t talk about HBverse Paul isn’t due to controversy, but because he’s boring

>>137658057Maybe justify it as, since Petra can see Ultraviolet light, she needs a visor to filter it out, and that somehow interferes with her spacial awareness and her reaction time, just slightly, but since Michelle didn't get that from the mutagen, she's able to react faster? Not to mention, her AI and her HUD assists in tabulating threats that she could react to faster than Petra's emotional pathfinding?

>>137652248Did we ever find out the artist who did these?

>>137658376I was thinking instead the increased reaction speed and spatial awareness are natural reflections of a bee's flying skills and ability to avoid being swatted. Petra having normal or enhanced reflexes and spatial awareness is something I thought she already had. Michelle would simply have an abundance of reaction speed and spatial instinct similar to how Miguel doesn't have Spider-Sense™ but instead has accelerated perception and reaction.

Now I wanna see her 2099 version

>>137658536>Petra having normal or enhanced reflexes and spatial awareness is something I thought she already hadI mean, she has them, but the abilities are a bit hampered by the fact that her equipment either filters out ultraviolet light, or the fact that her wings are mechanical, and therefore can't react as quickly as she does. Michelle, I think you can justify with, since her wings are natural, she can react faster than Petra does, since her wings are directly connected to her nervous system

>>137658559Remember, in 2099, bee people are an entire race on Earth due to the clones breeding. But the power has weakened over time Honey-Bee 2099 possesses a more pure yet altered version of the original powers

>>137658559I'm drawing her right now

At this point you should make this a clean break from the marvel universe and sell it as your own thing.

>>137658793>>137658835If I had to do HB 2099, I'd do something weirder. I'd go full-on SOMA and have it be a digital copy of Petra inhabiting a cybernetic body. The scary part is that this scan was taken early in her career so she's in the dark about everything

>>137658888We could, in fact we have an entire section on how to break it away from the Marvel Universe. Unfortunately, this does mean we have to create analogues for all the other characters. We have the Nature Force, but we would also need our own versions of Iron Man, Cap, and the X-men

>>137658793I'd say by this point in time, the Bee DNA probably doesn't really amount to much in terms of powers manifested. Maybe like sensitivity to UV light and heightened sense of empathy, but other than that, not much. That way, Michelle could develop her own powers due to the bee mutagen from Alchamix >>137658002

>>137659085Not going to lie, that sounds like a side character that Michelle would interact with. She thinks it's going to be a more experienced Petra to help Michelle, but it turns out to be a younger, inexperienced Petra who doesn't know anything about what's going on

Someone suggested the Wasp's counterpart could be a spider. I decided to give it a shot. Combined some of EMH Wasp's elements with the spider from the giant peach and a black/white variant of the western black widow spider.

>>137658793I don't really like the Bee People subrace idea. It makes the Clone Saga overshadow all the other stories. There are only so many clones and they can only have so many kids a pop. It doesn't really make sense unless there are millions of clones who all had a ton of kids and grandkids.

>>137653277Jeanne calling dibs on Petra shaped cookie(s). She can have all of Toxic looking one though!>>137653288I’m thinking Jeanne is buying gifts for her parents, and she needs help to decide what to give to her dads; Dr Doom, her birth father, and Batroc the Leaper, the one who raised her.

>>137660304Oooh nice

I still hold my belief that the Spider-Ham version of Petra should be Bunny-Bee

>>137660304Good looking

>>137653989>I'll try and keep it aliveOkay, we'rel holding on for now.>>137656956>>AI (Kind of like Jarvis/Cortana?)I believe Spidey 2099 has some kind of AI, right? What it's like in the comics? I thought of Durandal, but I don't think anyone would get a Marathon reference even after that new game's annoucenement (although I'm relatively new to the series as well).

>>137662624I’ve always liked Httchhikers Guide’s Marvin

>>1376626242099's AI is a sassy girl.

>>137660304I like it!

>>137662648Not familiar with him, but likely a worthy consideration.>>137663235Well, then how many changes (if any) she need to go through? For one, I would assume Honey-Bee rendition would be a guy named... Let's say, Leland.

>>137653510>>137653581>>137653615>>137653633>>137653664>>137653794Bullying the Doe is a canon eventNot even Petra can change it

>>137663985Since Petra is opposite she has reverse versions of her canon events For example Ben dying becomes saving J. Jonah Jameson

>>137663985>>137664142I won't be too quick to jump into "canon event" bandwagon since it's very likely it becomes irrelevant after Beyond The Spider-Verse.

>>137664248Fair enough, but it’s still funny as a joke Plus we all know HB is bullied far more than Doe
