Instead they took that concept art and turned it into the most generic, ugly CGI because western audiences still refuse to go see a animated movie that is not CGI (or so Pixar feels)
Alexander Miller
Also, the concept art is pretty indicative of the problems of the movie. MOST of it is buildings and cities. This movie is just a collection of concept art and ideas of the world. Pixar has been doing this way too much.I get that your world and cities are clever, but I don't give a shit. I want stories focused on characters. I don't care how the afterlife works and the crazy rooms it has, I don't care about the architecture of your alien planet, I don't care about the complex layout of the water city. Work on the characters.

An autist can criticize Ratatouille the same way they can Lightyear, but the former is exceptional in so many ways the latter isn't.You're insane if you want a "concrete" answer for what's an opinionated medium, but if my answer wasn't what you wanted, then maybe it's the wrong question to ask. I don't want anything from Pixar anymore, because the Pixar I like no longer exists. It would be great if current Pixar had some sort of interesting identity to attract people with, but they haven't proven that with film after film. It's just any other studio now. >>137653644>>137653736>>137652869The issue with that scene that everyone notices is that she uses "elements don't mix!" as her only reason why she won't go out with the kid. Never does she bring up his age. It's implying she'd actually go out with the kid if he was a fire elemental, ignoring that he's underage.

What >>137652869 is criticizing isn’t the firebitch saying the statement “elements don’t mix” but the statement itself. It’s the statement saying elements don’t mix but clearly in this world the elements do mix. The movie tries to say they don’t mix and propose that as an issue to this world (or at the least the main character) but the world contradicts that. Like how Incredibles 2 says Supers are hated, but you only get 1 scene of suits yelling at the Incredibles and every other time a Super is shown to the public everyone cheers. Basically, a problem is nonexistent and only exists because the writers tells the audience that they should believe it exists.

>>137644420How fired is Peter Sohn after this movie inevitably underperforms critically and financially? The director and producer of Lightyear got laid off after one bad movie and this guy directed 2 stinkers.
