That's actually not true. GMG has been caught selling grey market keys, and have have several instances where keys were revoked by publishers. From GMG themselves, they claim they "source keys responsibly". This does not mean they always buy them directly from publishers.

Actual gameplay is good and isn't grindy. Gathering smithing texts, forging ingredients, special kabutos, and trying to find/forge, reforge, and soul match your perfect set of divine or ethereal equipment for your perfect build is grindy as shit. But none of that is required to actually play or beat the game or to enjoy it.

I had a grudge against this boss. I made it my mission to master him and help as many people as possible kill him. I did it via building around dealing fire damage, and a hell of a lot of it.

Tip for newcomers: make sure all three torches in the level are lit before you fight him, as they auto-kill the first wave of the mini blobs that enter the fight. Then you can use them to set your weapon on fire temporarily to deal more damage to him, or you can leave them lit so they auto-kill the second wave of blobs.

The music in those first two videos aren't from the game (unless it was in the DLC, which I haven't played). The combat has a lot of depth and complexity to it but simply watching someone who has a solid grasp on it doesn't really convey what is going on. Ki bursting, stance switching, weapon switching, and activating various combos is something that takes a while to explain and understand. Watching them being executed just looks easy, but it isn't.

Just finished London, works like a charm on High graphics, Med shadows, 60 fps, and whatever those other two checkboxes do that aren't motion blur, on borderless 1280x720, on a x4 840/1050gtx ti.
Didn't know the expansions allowed you to choose the new weapon types on new game. I'm looking forward to breeze through early game now that I know of Flurry and Carnage Talismans.

You need to have cleared it at least once previously, for example I cleared Return of the Gourd on way of the samurai and I got placed in it for co-op on way of the demon difficulty once I did enough missions for it to become available to me despite not finishing it on that difficulty. The ones that take place in England can't be done in co-op.

If the mission is available to you, you can do them together via "Yokai Realm with a Companion". Completion is not required. Some missions are exempt from this, the London stages (intro and outro) can't be played together.
You can invite a friend from the game itself, or set a password. I can't confirm functionality of either though, because nobody I know is playing this.

So far I have only heard that it's stuck at 720p unless you change settings in a launcher that is not linked to by Steam so you have to go to the game directory and find it. Graphical settings cannot be changed in game, only in launcher. I dunno if that is still the case. Dunno about M+KB controls either, but I would probably play it with a controller unless there's a lot of free-aiming involved.

Maybe it has additional updates that aren't included in the initial dowload size

Game stays most of the time at 60fps with infrequent drops to 54-59. Putting shadows on max kills performance, medium is enough and still looks pretty great.

I'm satisfied for now, but we'll see how it runs on later areas.

1. Borderless fullscreen implements should be an easy fix for the fullscreen issues.
2. Launcher not saving graphical settings could be fixed by finding the settings file and setting it to read-only once the settings take effect so they cannot reset.
3. In regards to mouse support, I think unless the game has a lot of free-aiming you should play it with a controller. 3rd person action/combat works better with a gamepad.
4. Framerate problems can be tackled from many angles. In Just Cause 3 the framerate was garbage with Vsync on, if you turned it off and locked to 60 with RivaTuner Statistics Server it ran much much better. Hard to say what to do about framerate until you know what's effective.

That guy mentioned an AMD RIZEN 5 1600. I'm putting together a new build with a AMD RIZEN 5 1600X + a spare GTX 780 Ti. (maybe putting in a GTX 1080 or GTX 1070 Ti later) Now I'm a bit worried if it'll run things alright. It won't be my main computer though, but still concerning.

The kusarigama IS incredibly powerful but if you limit your self to just the chain throw attack then you're going to have a very slow go at it and are going to get creamed by the faster bosses and enemies.
All of the weapon types are completely viable and fun to use, with the possible exception of tonfa mostly because there's only one tonfa set bonus armor in the game and you only get it very late.
What actually breaks the game is ninjutsu and onmyo but you pretty much have to be in the fifth or sixth region in the game of your first playthrough to become a complete ninja or magic god.
If you really want to have fun then roll with axe and/or Odachi.

Not only were those two GPUs the high-end cards back in 2014, but they were also completely different in performance. The R9 280 was the mid-budget alternative to the R9 290 while the GTX 780 was a slightly underclocked GTX 780 Ti (The best GPU with the exception of some special snowflake overpriced Titan card).
So 3 years later a consoleshit mediocre-looking dark souls clone shows up and claims that you need a system that absolutely destroys the PS4 in every single way imaginable just to run it at the minimum settings. And you want me to actually waste my money on it.

Kill yourself reddit. I built this system to last me 2 decades. It makes no fucking sense that a shit-looking game requires this kind of system in order to run. It's obvious that the port is utterly atrocious. The game looks worse than your average free2play counter strike clone and yet requires a PC that runs Crysis 3 on 2K at 60fps. It also makes no sense that a GTX 780 is paired along with a R9 280. Those two GPUs had like 300$ in difference and rightfully so. The 780 was a high-end card while the 280 was made for the lower budget consumer. One could max-out games on a 4K monitor while the other was made only for 1080p.

I hope you guys enjoy the game and that the port isn’t busted gameplay-wise. Performance-wise, I wouldn’t expect too much considering that Koei doesn’t optimize well for PC and that NiOh on PS4 wasn’t well optimized either. The game on PS4 dynamically turned up or down settings to maintain framerate, which was great, but on base PS4 you got most things on low at 720p if you wanted 60 FPS and on PS4 Pro you got better effects at 1080p with frequent drops in resolution when things got too busy. The main settings culprits for drops in performance on PS4 were shadows, particles, and draw distance, so I’d look for those settings if you can’t get a locked 60.

That’s not true. That may work on some normal enemies, and that may have worked more in earlier versions of the game, but it certainly isn’t true now on most bosses. It’s a challenging game and the devs have patched it plenty of times to keep it that way.

You can just go about Way of the Samurai by just wearing whatever has a higher number without worrying too much. It's only on subsequent NG+s that you should start seriously thinking about your build. In Nioh, the point of making a build is to break the game.
Onmyo magic is only useful for buffing and debuffing
Ninjutsu is OP in Way of the Samurai, but rapidly loses strength in subsequent NG+s
Use any weapon you feel most comfortable with.
Stats max out at 200, and only you reach level 750, you get 1,000 more "focus levels" which you can put into life, attack, defense, or luck.
You want to max out all 3 stats that your chosen weapon focuses on.
You can buy a "Book of Reincarnation" from the Blacksmith, which is a respec

Ninjitsu easily has the most OP skill with the quick-change scroll and is one I see people use constantly on way of the wise and way of the nioh. The groudfire trap also gives easy final blow hits to human bosses since it can cause them to fall down.

playing a game designed for controller with a keyboard is a recipe for a bad time. controllers are piss cheap and mandatory if you're going to emulate pretty much anything too.

Her and the Yuki-Onna trip people up when they first fight them. If you know omnyo magic the sloth and guardian spirit talisman's make Hino-Enma much easier. Without them you'll just need to take some anti-paralytic needles and try to avoid her hits as much as possible. If you have fire talisman's equip those to try and proc fire for extra damage.

I'll have you know, I've beaten all dark souls games many times with KB+M. People say it controls like shit, but I disagree, and if you get used to it, it's very much a comfortable control method. That said, I do not mind if a game like Nioh doesn't have KB+M, because not having a controller in CURRENT YEAR is just a sign of either poorfaggotry or unwarranted elitism.

I have the fire talisman onmyo, but it didn't do very much damage. Maybe 10-15% extra, and talismans run out real quick. I've been rather indecisive in what weapons to use, generally, so my stat spread is all over. I am slowly leaning towards kusarigamas and spears. Swords are fun and all, but I just can't discount the range of spears and the combo wombo potential of kusarigamas. Does respeccing with that book from the smith actually reset you to level 1 and you have to start all over?

You get the amrita that you spent back, but yes, you are back at level 1 and can recpec back to the level you were.

Then it's no big deal. What stats would I want to focus on for spears and kusarigamas? As I understand it, they get most bonuses from body and dexterity respectively. But then I'd probably need a bit of stamina for more load capacity and heart for ki.

Dex and body would be the two I would focus on, stamina woudn't be as important to me but that depends on if you want to wear heavier armor. Heart will start to taper off in usefulness to pump into around 40 since it'll take 2 points after that to get 1 point of ki. Try to get some of the title points into ki so that you can use the level-up points in other areas.

Well, i'l say its actually well optimized. I have shitty rig.

And with this rig it runs just as well as witcher 3 runs for me, which means in some scenes it goes little to sub 30 fps, in some scenes with no objects it goes up to 43-45 fps. It is playable, but not with this game's difficulty, after all witcher 3 controls well, and can be cheesed, its not a soulslike game, i also launched it with low shadow (not lowest) and with high resolution render.

PS4 controller was recognized by default, without the need of DS4Windows.

Anyway, if you have better card than me you probably going to run it smooth as fuck.

Can confirm, with this setup, medium shadows and no AO, the game basically almost never dips below 60, and if it does, it's to 55 at most.

I guess i'l have to turn off shadows and put the render to medium to not suck at it, if its really hard as balls. I'l look how worse it will look at medium render.

Eh, the game is playable, i don't even notice the difference. Enemies are also easy, sometimes turn their backs around mid fight and go away, just general trash at the beginning. I guess japan thinks english men couldn't fight and are equivalent of DS1's beginning zombies.

You will soon encounter enemies that pose quite a bit more threat than the starting mooks. Not terribly challenging, but very much so by comparison to the ordinary guards.

Dammit, the game won't launch. Starting it up gets me a black, empty 720p window. No CPU or disk usage on task manager, nothing. Doesn't matter what resolution setting I use in the launcher, it always does a 720p window. Tried rebooting, updating my graphics card drivers, got nothing. Not really, you get very easy to acquire respec items that are unlimited, most things are very useful and as you found out in the last post stuff is much stronger than it should be so you can generally fly by the seat of your pants. The only thing I would say is "necessary" is to level Spirit so that you get all of your Guardian Spirit's passives.

It can be really fun. Because of the loot based nature of equipment and the existence of Umbracite it can feel a lot more rewarding and in tune with the rest of the game to do a bunch of co-op runs. There's a Souls-esque summoning system and a mode called Yokai Realm with a Companion where you have no shrines but revive each other on death. PvP is arena based and has modes for either using all your stuff or using preset equipment and items based on your weapon type.
