ArchiveTeam is attempting to back up Miiverse in its entirety. From November 3rd to 5th, volunteers were able to archive 32 gigs of content, or about a third of the site, before Nintendo started banning the IPs of scrapers, at which point they made their efforts private. Who knows how far along they are now, with just a little more than 24 hours to go, but with any luck, we may have a read-only time capsule of Miiverse to cherish forever.
If you don't want to risk losing your own shitposts, you can go to miiverse.nintendo.net/settings/download_request and receive a archive link after Miiverse shuts down tomorrow, but only if you put the request in before that happens. And of course, this is your last chance to paint graffiti in Inkopolis Plaza, make lewd innuendos for Smash 4's Miiverse stage, send a message to that Japanese girl who added you for some reason, or get banned for illegal memes.

Any of you seen the Deus Ex HR Miiverse saga of Rick the fire extinguisher?
I was able to archive nearly 300 megabytes of stuff in the hours before it closed, including the last several hours of shitposts content on the Smash community and the Japanese Splatoon community. Sadly I overwrote the American Splatoon page with the Japanese one on accident so I only have the last 24 minutes of that, however hours of American pictures should still be salvageable from the Japanese folder.
I was "archiving" by scrolling down until I reached the bottom of a user's profile (sometimes over 1000 posts), or as far down on the community pages as I could, manually opening every spoiled image, then saving the entire page as complete HTML. Incredibly autistic and time consuming, but I was able to preserve the profiles and communities as they looked in their final moments.
IF YOU HAVE ANY MIIVERSE TABS OPEN, THE CONTENTS CAN STILL BE SAVED IN THIS MANNER, AS THE IMAGES ARE STILL BEING HOSTED ON CLOUDFRONT. Act now before they (((shut it down))) or your browser backgrounds the tab, and be very careful not to left click on anything, or your browser will navigate away and you'll lose it.
Unfortunately, Nintendo decided to send me one final fuck you by removing the file extensions from all images, making it really inconvenient to look at them with your file explorer (either manually opening them or renaming them to PNGs works). Particularly annoying is that Nintendo used PNG for drawings and JPG for screenshots, so you can either guess based on file size or hope your image viewer is smart enough to ignore an incorrect extension. I plan to fix them later with a batch job so I can have an easily accessible collection of my favorite Miiverse artists' pictures. However, if anyone likes, I could upload the collection right now as is so you can at least browse through them in your web browser. Or I could upload just the Smash page so anons that missed it can have a giggle at that. Let me know what you want.
My final miiverse regret (other than not using it more when it was alive) is that I found the famous loli artist zankuro 's Miiverse account a long time ago, that he drew a few nonlewd pictures on before disappearing, but I didn't have time today to figure out which alt account I followed him on and find his profile, so most likely those pics are gone forever.

Miiverse was shut down almost exactly 5 years after it went live. What most likely happened is, Nintendo has been planning to shutter Miiverse for a while now, they were just waiting for whatever hosting+support contract they had with Hatena to expire.

Was surprised today when I went to the Wara Wara Plaza and it was filled with Mii's and their Miiverse comments/drawings, has anyone else experienced this? I was expecting the offline default software to appear (eShop, System settings, etc) not Mii's talking about NSMBU, Smash and Splatoon over 36 hours after Miiverse's shutdown. I would assume it's just residue data but still it's weird.
Went and took a look number players Mii's related to those games and their sex out of sheer curiosity to see if there was any ratio between them, anyone interested if I post them?
It should be pointed out that on the download request button for Miiverse, Nintendo put up a warning that content that could get you banned would possibly prevent them from giving them you Miiverse images/drawings to you. I know that stopped me from making anything like dicks or whatever, it's going to be interesting to see if anyone gets their Miiverse download request denied because of what happened in the last hours.

No shit. I draw a new picture weekly and my IRL friends never see my drawings and my twitter is barren of comments. I have no idea how shitty gay and trans comments get top viewing, but my drawings that can take two hours to produce never see the light of day.
