nigger you can beat Radiance in a few tries just learn the patterns and use Quick Focus+ Grub as a solid charm defense setup
The general good offense and defense charm setup is Mark of Pride / Quickslash or Fragile Strength and Quick Focus+ Grub (receive soul on hit)
As for Trial of the Fool the only hard part is where you can't heal because there's no platforms and everything is spikes below. just use your soul like crazy to get rid of the enemies if you're not confident in yourself. Grub will ensure you have some to heal after that segment is over.
BTW, that leaves you with 1 Charm Notch for whatever you want. Another solid 1 slot charm is Steady Body, so you don't recoil in the air and always get safe landing on aerial combat. You can remove grub and use a 2 slot charm of choice too, like Longnail or Stalwart shell.
There's a sound queue on the ground for when the ground is flimsy

there is only ONE area in the ground that doesn't have a sound queue and is breakable, and that's 1 Free Content Patch Update Boss.
The rest all have a sound queue.
So don't go paranoid trying to slam everything.

Problem is she looks just like a regular miner, its her voice that is most attractive/distinctive about her
I tried to make a humanized design for her a while back, but like you said she just looks like a random miner and there isn't a lot to work with. Maybe I'll try again but add a bit more bug girl elements or something.
Easiest setup is just Shaman Stone + Spell Twister + Joni's + Grubsong. Spamming Abyss Shriek is absolutely devastating since he's always slightly overhead and it does so much damage.
I feel like I've kind of hit a wall. I just defeated Soul Master and stopped right before Dung Defender, but I think i've just burned myself out from playing it too much.

That place seemed so horrible that I wanted to see if there was anywhere else to go, and there was. I would check out the places where you can bust through the floors if I were you.
What I ended up doing on my first playthrough was getting the claw and groundslam as normal, but then I remembered that area you're talking about, and got the Dream Nail instead of the ability you get there, because I am bad at VIDEOGAMES. I spent quite a while wandering around looking for where to go. I didn't even get into the sewers or get Izma's Tear until the second dreamer or so
Joni's is just for bosses. It's not good for exploring.

Joni's Blessing makes everything blue. It's good for Greyprince Zote because he 2 shots anyway so might as well for 3/4 hits
Joni's is scrub's charm anyway because the whole point is getting good and not getting hit.

I'm very sure it's possible to get double jump early (without crystal dash) by obtuse platforming in the abyss, but it requires a bit of set up (pogo to the left of bench, die so shade spawns near door, do it again, but jump at a certain angle and shoot a spell off so it aggros (but doesn't kill) it, then immediately pogo, kite him, and finally bounce up, so you have ONE chance to fight Broken Vessel). It's even worse because you have to collect 8 mask shards and get the +HP fragile charm in order to do it, so I don't know how viable it is in a speedrun.
You can also skip the City of Tears for the most part by taking the tram, you don't even need the seal to enter it - there's a passage to Deepnest in the Fungal Wastes. You can also skip the first boss: the left wall weakens after he does his first stomp rage.
i dont see the point in autism sequence breaks outside of those that are actually useful for speedrunning. And i only say useful for speedrunning because there are 3 speedrunning related achievements, otherwise i wouldnt bother with speedrunning autism.

I did my soul steel run and my no damage on every boss. that's all i care about regarding self-challenge. I did the other achievements because why not, but im not gonna go full pannekoek on Hollow Knight or any game for the matter. I have an extense backlog, user. Those games ain't gonna play themselves.
I feel like it's pointless to disassemble an internet-connected game like that. Older console games are mostly static aside from a few regional releases. With modern games you can just patch something and render the efforts all useless.
So, I only put my effort into older games like Super Metroid or the like. With a game like Hollow Knight, it's fun to play it in unexpected ways but I'm not going to abuse bugs to get good times. Besides, it's easily winnable in about 4 hours.
