Both HTC and Oculus have been slashing prices across the board and have stopped almost entirely bringing exclusives. On the other hand, Sony is funding Devs to make games for it and are actually pushing their hardware.
The only Sony VR game I care about is the one with the demon loli. Not enough to spend 300 bucks on a headset though.
Here's a short summary of why.
Kikebook is hampering down on the entire market by making it entirely exclusive to their Oculus Goy. Basically gimping VR technology because of it and doing everything they can to get you onto their store. Not to mention datamining which is kind of predictable with kikebook.
HTC wanted to release the Vive early to compete with Rift and so released the DK2 as the full product. Not that it's not entirely HTC's fault because Valve have done fuck all to support it other than letting any cancer patient try to make their own shitty VR game. Not to mention along with all their hardware it's all tied to Steam (including the controller and link). Also doesn't help that Valve just cannot into tech it seems nor does everyone want to be tied to fucking Steam.
It's not hard to look good when both of these tech giants are fucking up beyond repair.

It's actually quite easy to explain, and OP is a massive faggot or a shill. The PS4VR is extremely underpowered compared to the Rift and the Oculus. The thing is that it's most people's first VR experience so they have no point of reference. If you look at the specs, the PS4VR is a giant turd. Sony is doing the same thing as Oculus is - funding games in exchange for exclusivity deals. The vast majority of Oculus-only titles have been funded by Oculus. Vive is the only platform that isn't trying to shovel users into their own pen exclusively.
Also, VR is shit without the motion controllers, but even if it weren't, neither the Vive nor the Oculus require you to use the controllers, there are plenty of games that use normal controllers / KB+M.

The main reason PSVR is successful is simple - it's easy to use. You plug it in to a console and TV you already have (because you're a casual faggot after all) and put it on your head. That's it. It's comfortable, can be easily adjusted to any fuck-up of a skull you might have, you can use your thick hipster glasses with it, motion controls are largely optional depending on the game, and the games themselves are, if anything, working packages, not buggy and glitchy tech demos that plague other platforms.
A headset that 6 people can try in one night without losing time on setup is more valuable than a complicated and finicky yet superior VR setup. It helps that stuff like Resi7, REZ and Dirt Rally play really well in VR.

Playing anything VR with a console controller is not fun, especially when you can only sit down. The novelty wears off in less than a week and the PSVR games don't sell well whatsoever since PSVR is broken as fuck.

Lewd games are certainly in a semi-niche audience for those who stick with it and play more than a few. Probably because people don't know how to really make them yet. I've been thinking up a list of guidelines on how to generally make a successful one but the problem is the more I think about it the more I'm convinced that a good lewd game isn't really a game. It's just a series of sex scenes with high levels of interactivity and diverse options. I mean unless you like pizza during sex I don't see why people would like to be challenged by the game while they're jacking off.
From my experience the games that do better are either really slow in their gameplay elements so you don't get burned out before sex happens (like an economy simulator or something similar) or they forego gameplay challenge entirely and just make sure you that can dress up and move your waifu in as many ways as possible so the entertainment factor never gets boring. Or maybe I'm just speaking to much for myself here. I just can't imagine why somebody would want to play tetris or something challenging while fucking a girl. It's like how VN's are "technically" games because they have elements in them that have nothing to do with being a VN and there's certain branches that lead to fail states sometimes in dialog. Either way If I ever make a lewd game I'm throwing the game design manuel out the window.
I worked (and am still kind of working) on a porn RPG. Really the only way to make an actually good porn game that is still a game is removing all action, adding a bunch of player interaction, and letting the player make their own story by giving them choices and multiple dialogues.
In a lot of ways Bethesda perfected most of the formula that is perfect for porn games, except they don't use it for porn at all.
Sony already said that PSVR sold well over 1 million unit, neither Vive or oculus disclosed their sales figure probably because it sold badly, e.g: Xbone, Ouya. The demo did on halfchan .The base game had discussion threads for no more than 2 weeks before people started to rightly critasize it. Those first 2 weeks were largely elongated because of the red herring easter eggs.

I made a sotc thread recently just comparing a few shots from the original and the new one. I usually start my OPs with questions and return to the questions at the end of the OP and find that discussion is pretty healthy. The thread went from discussing visual changes to people who have heard about the game, never played it, anxiety about whether or not it still holds up, and positive affirmation that it still has done things that haven't been surpassed and are absolutely worth experiencing.
It's natural. When you have a general that is made infinitely and forever, you can't squeeze discussion out of nothing. There has to be an idea to get it started. I find one of the best ways to make fun discussion is to bring up an iconic moment or something from a game, and when people chime in sharing their experiences it naturally flows into something very enjoyable. Makes me want to create an FF7 thread. If you see one pop up, it might be mine.

SteamVR installation is tied to steam, but I have been able to run some games like CM3D2 on Vive without steam running in the background after it was installed.
Not sure how one would go about installing steamVR without steam initially.
OSVR is always an option, but content would be far more limited.
