A new one is born

...

Anyone played the ssi buck rogers games?
worth looking into?

Das Boot Space Game when?

When you make it.

Mir joining the battle

...

...

Why isn't there more LoGH games? I just want to want to shoot blue lasers at people. That being said the more recent RTS that was made was pretty good; sadly since windows live died you can no longer play multiplayer. The game never received an English translation, but even if you don't know Japanese the game is still pretty straight forward. There are spoilers in the game until the FPA gets defeated, but I only played the Empire campaign and not the FPA so there could be other spoilers.

So I happened upon this game on steam called Ascent - The Space Game (store.steampowered.com/app/345010/Ascent__The_Space_Game/). Has anyone played this? Is it good? I never even heard of this fucker until today.

the FPA campaign goes all the way until yang marriage.
I hope with the combined release of the books and the new cartoon they will consider making new vidya for it.

I was going to say pirate it, but its not possible, you could always bite the bullet and tell us how you were scammed

I was thinking the same thing too, however I'm very afraid they will use the new designs that the new show is going to be using. It feels terrible to have something like this happen.

You should buy it, and download it, and then give the files to IGG games or something after refunding it so we can all play it.

get on with the times grampa.

...

...

Meh, FD disapoint again. I'm starting to wonder if anyone could do a worse job than FD with a game.

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLL

Well fug :DDD

...

I recently came across Rebel Galaxy. So far, having a lot of fun. And the soundtrack is pretty kick ass as well, gives it a very frontier of space kind of vibe. Toss in the Mass Effect soundtrack (1 and 2 are good) and it's a pretty good space shooter.

Man, that movie is just a whole bunch of wasted potential.
Now i wish someone would make an iron sky nazi themed mod for starstector or something, complete with götterdämmerung.

Didn't they make an actual game of that film?

It's pretty fun but after some hours, you'll probably end up dropping it. It's a pretty nice casual game. The atmosphere is the best part.

It is simple that's true, and has a bit of a grind to it, and the missions get repetitive pretty quickly, but I've logged 25 hours into it so far. At least the grind gives me a tangible reward of getting bigger and better ships and weapons.

This looks like shit.

Arguable, user
At least RSI are showing SOME progress
All FDev have done is showing they care more about bobbleheads and cryptic messages in trailers than actual meaningful gameplay

I need to sort out my space vidya webms sometime.

...

...

...

...

...

They just has some big update not to long ago. I need to play that shit again.

It was fun when anons got together, played Antareans and tore up the League Capital ships using their starfighters

...

...

...

And can't be bothered sorting anymore webms tonight.

...

Are you using a Pegasus or Ptah?

Fuck we should get another night going again. Having 2 caps go at it while fighting off boring parties is so awesome.

Ascent is an MMO so I can't pirate it. Guess I'll grab it on sale sometime and if it's worth a damn I'll spread the word.

What's the game in the second one?

nice dubs. I was using the yukikaze (a custom ship) just booted it back up just to see a blurb about how to use the fucking stealth system.
Also, is anyone familiar with converting/pirating a steam game so that it can be used by other people? The devs seem to be cool with buying the game then using the CD key for a non DRM version but that still requires you to buy the game.

The problem is 2.4 is still going, so we've got the average amount of content for an E:D update not fucking much spread out thinly over several months.
In fact some are saying the Ageis CGs for the anti ayylamo weapons where supposed to drop every month not every week like they have.
Fuck they promised an update with proper guilds and such but that won't be till Q4 next year. FUCKING THIS TIME NEXT YEAR.
IS THERE ONE PERSON WORKING ON THIS GAME OR SOMETHING.
current rumours are most of the team is secretly working on an implementation of space legs as files have been found in game listing 3d models of every ship module in the game

wew

...

...

Colossus seemed like a waste of resources.

Freespace was pretty morbid at times
some of the other space games are almost upbeat by comparison

That was kind of the point.
Freespace is themewise an extremely unusual game in that it is about fighting what is in essence an eldritch horror in the cthulhu vein. Not in the tentacled giant monster idea, but in the horror that defies our every attempt at understanding it that we could never hope to fight in any practical sense. Like Cthulhu was in his original story, even surviving being rammed by the steamer.
Like wise, the shivans are nigh unstoppable and utterly inscrutable. Every thing the GTA and the Vasudans do to stop the shivans backfires in some way.
Try to hijack one of their ships to learn more about them? Corridorfight clip.
Try to take down a shivan destroyer? The lucifer shows up and nukes your mothership.
Try to blockade the shivans access to Vasuda Prime? The vasudans circumvent your blockade through means unknown and attack with a second fleet from a flank they shouldn't have been able to get to.
The list goes on. The closest the play gets to scoring a real strategic victory that doesn't instantly turn to shit is taking down the Lucifer and saving the earth, at the expense of permanently cutting earth off from the rest of the human colonies. Its still a defeat for the GTVA on the strategic scale.
In Freespace 2 its much the same. The colosus is big and impressive to look at, but it can't take on one Juggernaut without someone knocking out the juggernauts guns first, and even then they have to burn out the Collosus's guns in the process, and the shivans promtly bring in several dozen more juggernauts.
The GTVA just can't win against the shivans, only try to limit the extend of their defeat.
Time and again, we are shown that the shivans are not a thread that can be understood, reasoned with or fought. They do whatever it is that they do, and the best the player can hope to do is slightly inconvenience them…

I would love to see more games approach story telling and world building like that, as the setup lends itself extremely well to building up dramatic tension and story telling for the kind of conflicts we get in games.

Reminder that Bioware ripped off Freespace in Mass Effect by turning the Shivans into "le Reapers"

Yeah, even when those traitors tried communicating with the Shivans, it went badly.

and both games were amazing for that. Especially with the first encounters with the Shivans and things just get worse and worse from that point on

My surprise in 2 was the ending where I failed to escape but that was actually an intended way to conclude the story. Also special mention to both games for pacing and fantastic atmosphere, obviously a lot of the time you're fighting waves of enemy ships but it also knows when to slow down and have periods of nothing happening, before suddenly, Shivans return. I really really need to give 2 a second playthrough. 1's had a few.

so, no happy ending?

You've never played freespace? Fix that. FSO is opensource and free, so you have no excuses.
First game ends with FTL access to earth being lost, the player is among the pilots who take down the lucifer and is thus stranded on earth, cut off from the rest of the galaxy. The rest of the human and vasudan colonies that survived the war rebuild as the GTVA.
Second game ends with one of the biggest and most heavily populated and important colonies in the GTVA, Cappella, being invaded by and overwhelming force of Shivans. The GTVA scramble to cut all jumpnodes leading to Cappella to contain the invasion while evacuating anyone they can. During the last mission the player is flying as an escort defending transports fleeing the system, and you are suddenly notified that the shivans have done some kind of technocrap to the star making it go supernova and that you have matter of minutes to escape. You can fight to defend as many ships as possible as they flee, or you can run away. If you don't make it out, the ending is a eulogy remembering those lost in the evacuation, if you do make it out, the player is the one delivering the eulogy.
So no, not particularly happy endings. The best you get is, humanity and vasudans just barely survived and their societies are fucked over and have to rebuild from almost nothing.

Do not read the spoilers that posted. Play the games and find out what happens. The endings are bad but not hopeless.

im finishing all the wing commanders games first, it is in my backlog

ok

That's why I spoilered it. Isn't that what the spoiler formating is for after all?

I thought it should be emphasised. Especially with them mostly being used for hiding jokes or lewds instead of actual spoilers.

How do I git gud at Homeworld? Steam says the last mission I completed was the Sea of Lost Souls, I remember quitting after getting stuck on the mission after that.

I can't tell you how many times I've spoiled a game for myself by clicking on one of them automatically like a dumbass.

Use fighters and corvettes, keep your captial ships far away from the anomaly.

by playing the original

What is the chance any of the other LOTGH games are available somewhere online, like the I-VII series which looked very interesting?

Oberstein is too autistic to go to Hallowwen parties. He doesn't even have any hobbies, he could have played chess with Eisenach at least.

you could ask in the share thread, some anons love the challenge of getting rare vidya.

...

Psssst.

It's never coming out. Calling it now.
Also, does freepaceopen really need freespace 2? I just wanted to play the first game.

Check /scurv/ someone, somewhere has the gog setup.exe for freespace 2.
Once you have it get the open freespace2 installer and you'll have the options to download the FreeSpace Port (FS1). You don't have to have the original freepsace 1 to play it at that point.

There's a partial translation patch: mega.n/#!8EcyyIAL!42gqSRQUVZc6coqWLFq5bMD_DXbQ4pEe65BEw57oDhI

I made a profile as it asked me, but after the second boot the game wants me to use another one, and doesn't accept the key I used for the installation.

Let's see.
The super nova station?
Id recommend building a carrier, stuffing it with resourcers, taking it to the nearby cloud with rocks on it and then releasing the resourcers to empty that field.
Use a fleet of Frigates and bigger ships, keep them in sphere formation or other tight formation, keep them inside the dust veins and just follow those till you get to the station where you just rip and tear till the enemy fleet is kill.

Also, dont take the mined path, take the longerone, sure it has enemy fleets on it, but at least you wont get blasted by mines.

Also this
But in order to properly use that you should first start over and grab anything like a Polish car thief.

Not really humanity only option post Freespace 2 get so desperate they break open the realm of the immaterium and unleash a warp storm upon the Shivans allowing daemons to pour into the galaxy

Ever noticed that in the original Homeworld you basically should steal anything that isn't nailed down and if it is take the nail as well, then in Dawn of War made a Space Marine chapter famous for stealing every relic they came across?

Show me those Seraphs!

...

they aren't even games

playing as the bad guys, pffft game devs can't do anything right

I'd rather play as the Big Guys

Humanity gets fucked. That's a happy ending, famalam.

Great, so you can ERP in stations in between the senseless grind.

So its EVE online now?

wew

Anyone seen the dev diaries for the next patch in Stellaris? Only two out but so far shit's interesting. the tl;dr: is

Was the ai ever even able to use wormhole gates?

Is endless space 2 finally playable? How long does it take to iron out bugs and add space carriers?

Yes.

Disgusting. All you need is to know Japanese. No translation needed.

I don't even know.

and its shit
i would be surprised if you could join the nazis and i also hope we finally know who the fuck are the faggots from mars.

Got any source for that? Not that I doubt those hacks at Bioware doing it but it'd be interested if there was something more concrete to it.

And the games are awesome for that. The last mission briefings in FS2 you can feel how desperate the situation is which kind of highlight the point user made here . In most games you win, in Freespace, your victory boils down to surviving to see another day, I don't think there are that many games where your "victory" comes down to something so simple. Also that second SOC special mission with the captured Maras beyond the second Knossos had me scared shitless, 5 minutes to complete everything and jump out or get stuck in Shivan space and die. Also dive, dive, dive! Hit your burners, pilot! didn't help ease the situation at all.

Heh, the first time I did that mission I pulled up, and got scrapped as the Sath jumped out.

They made flight wings, but its not unique to carriers. Not quite sure how it works since I haven't played it recently. I also am not sure about the stability of the game.

Now, I risk sounding like a pleb but despite that I need to point out that that sounds like shit. If you have so many tools at your disposal, but they're all irrelevant because the enemy is just that good, you've got a situation that isn't "hopeless" or "gritty" but annoying and "railroad"-like. If that were to be the case in a traditional RPG the players would start to get very irritated with the GM for shitting all over their various ideas and not giving them anything for it.

I personally find that shit irritating too. Illogically powerful enemies are not fun. Enemies that don't have to follow rules are not fun. It may be a fine addition to a story, but it isn't fun - and therefore isn't for games.

What's the mod in the second webm? I don't recognise it or the music.

Also, this little game turned out pretty enjoyable. Definitely worth a pirate.

Bigger story way back when was how they ripped off Star Control but ever note the similarity of Shivans and Reapers. Even the culling of the universe through countless cycles.

Dimensional Eclipse.
hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=83935.0

its ded

For what?

Dimensional eclipse. I can get 1.0 off moddb but since i know 1.1 exists i'd like to get it. Unless it's in the launcher which would make me retarded

The shivans do follow rules though, it's more a case of you're ants trying to fight a person

Its a shame its not always the same rules everyone else has to follow.
Case in point, the way they circumvented the blockade to attack Vasuda Prime

I am pretty sure it's in the launcher user.

Nope, it's not there. And the 1.0 version crashes on the mission after VR training. Fuck.

And I also can't get wxlauncher to work - it crashes whenever I press play.

God damn I have rarely seen a fanboy as dedicated as him. No matter what he says though the game is still shit. The Return my ass.

Well I managed to get the wxlauncher working - the one in the fso installer is really outdated. But does nobody here really have a working copy of dimensional eclipse? I just want to go fast in space.

Is this not the most lazy design ever?

When I first saw it I thought I installed a mod, you know the kind that reuses existing assets to create unoriginal new ships.

No.

What next? Are you going to complain that all oil tankers are lazy designs?

In the end i fixed it myself. The main mod is form moddb, but it needs a patch from
mediafire.com/file/yoqnu9o18xgpvri/HUD_patch.rar
You have to extract the HUD folder into the data folder in the DE mod folder.

Reminds me of Blackgate from Rebel Galaxy.

...

THQNodic owns that IP when THQ an hero, so they MAY make a sequel, they did upgraded the game to a HD edition.
Also, the devs made a kickstarter for a sequel, but the bad goys didnt donate enough shekels.

...

Didn't they bring back multiplayer as well.

...

It was a fun game, but there was no way they were going to that much money. Nexus was always niche, it's a shame the sequel never happened, but it's understandable.

what happened to Space Pirates and Zombies 2?

Let's not interrupt braben while he tells his story. Who wants gameplay anyways?

It released yesterday I think.

I made it myself user
just for you

I give up. Dimensional Eclipse 1.0 is unbeatable. Because it just keeps fucking crashing on one of the other missions, the asteroid defense/evac with Fuyukaze this time. Not only does a patch for that not exist, version 1.1 has also been completely lost, since just gives me a 404 on download. It's really fucking fun too.
Are there any other space games that can fill the hole in my soul with fast in space? Preferably with a shitload of ordinance flying all over the place.

Our mission shall be to find Dimensional Eclipse 1.1

Apparently 1.1 was a broken release. I messaged the author of the original to see if he still even has DE, and if it's ever going to be fixed to be completely playable on current FSO.

Well what do you know, as it turns out everyone's an idiot since the mod has been re-released (again).

The Ur-Quan Masters. Mining some resources and shit.

Space gamenight when?

god bless those autistic Chinese hearts.

My main source of credits is blowing up their shit at this point.

We will get space drifting soon.

...

a shame that is trapped in the worst homeworld engine, or did them manage to fix the whole RNG thingy for homeworld 1?

If i want to play Homeworld, what is objectively the best one to play?
I'm not buying shit, can i get the originals to work on windows 7?

Lolis ruin everything.

Commander Sunber had a hard life

Lolis need their bottoms smacked.

...

pirate the originals, the remakes ones dont offer anything and are inferior to the originals.
The only reason to be a good goy and get the remakes is to play the multiplayer, BUT those fucking faggots didnt bother to add HW1 classic any multiplayer service, you can only play multiplayer in HW2, because fuck you.
I think all the original homeworld games can run in windows 7

...

The remaster comes with both remastered and original games.

But yeah, you should just pirate the originals, unless you want BLOOM

what game are you referencing?

Listen to the song little newfag

they did some modifications to the games, replacing art and re-recording the VA, why? i dont know, they also removed the Yes - Homeworld song from the credits

Anyone wanna play best space game?
I'll also settle for the mediocre but still moderately fun star ruler 2.

Why is stormtrooper armor so fucking SHIT?

Lockheeb Martin makes weapons for the Empire :^)

Damn. Should I bite?

if you like boxes i have the box trinity edition

nope, its on sale on steam right now

How is offworld trading company?
I was thinking about getting it.

Matches don't last nearly long enough although worth a try at least. Despite what you may think it's not a comfy colony builder. It's basically an RTS about out jew'ing your opponents.

I see. Any combat on it?

is it fun? always wanted to be a jew in space

Not really. There's sabotage but that's it.

Sometimes it can be fun. If you are good at managing economies in RTS games you might find it interesting.

So is it more like Anno without combat or Settlers without combat?

I'd say a bit more like Anno but less in depth. More focus on about 20-30 minute multiplayer matches.

K, is there any singleplayer campaigns or skirmish mode versus AI?

Both. Although campaign is basically just a tournament style skirmish mode. Oh you also have limited tiles you can build on.

So in multiplayer and regular skirmish you have unlimited tiles?
How does that work?

Nope in both you get for example around 12 slots you can "claim" to build shit on so you need to pick areas carefully. You can sometimes bid for more slots but not often.

WHY ARE THEY KEEP DOING THIS?!

...

A combination of Startopia and Simbrothe or breeding seasonl?
I'd play it.

You had me till the loli part.

Still, it'd be nice if Channel 34 got its 3rd part sooner.

...

...

That's not uncommon especially when you see DS9.

Mistakes into Miracles.

I think it's a neat detail. If you were on a journey and you only had a single fleet every ship would be precious and unconventional tactics are the only way to victory.

That tiny little destroyer wasabarrel of laughs before they fixed its in system size.

Not impressed tbh Now when you could glitch Klingon Carriers into shuttle missions, that was glorious

About the homeworld stealing tactic, that shit was OP, because it ignores your maximum unit limit.
Later in HW2, they wanted to FIX it by changing the enemy fleet size depending on the numbers of ships and RU's you had, of course all the casuals would bitch about the game being to hard.

Only problem is that you could exploit that hard by literally recycling your entire fleet at the end of each mission.

...

Super weapon indeed.

The Kelvin Connie looks actually palatable with the TOS hull material.

Dukat died for this.

The worst part is that it was the only endgame Connie at the time of its addition to the game, all the Kelvin ships are set up as one of the first three primary spec ships that are store exclusive otherwise.
The JJprise is a command ship with the inspiration abilities, the Kelvin Bird of Prey is a pilot ship with the pilot maneuvers that let it roll around and dodge shit, and the Kelvin warbird is a huge intel carrier with all the intel shit like innate stealth and the intel gathering probe, it's also the only actual carrier the Romulans can have that can use the drone ships from the Scimitars.

Gotta remove Taiidans one way or another.

Any space game with feasting, drinking and singing in it?

i think the amount of RU's counted as well, but i cant remember.

Those things are mere copies of the original.

how about no

I didn't have a high res saved of the original.

That's fair, user. I forgive you.

Which ships in E:D have the best cockpits to look around?
I changed from the noob sidewinder to an adder, but I'm kinda bummed out that the front window is far smaller

So many secrets in that level, so many ships I wish you could capture. Loads of alpha version of ships there
Also fuck RM for fucking up all the HW2 Mods

That level is the subtlest spooky shit I have ever seen. Shortly followed by the ship that mind controls your ships.

Not really hard actually if you use a gravywell generator. Junkyard Dawg becomes Junkyard Scrap rather easily if you do that.

I didn't say difficult, I said spooky. Think how long that AI or w/e has been in that damn junkyard, it can't even be destroyed. And then the massive ship that's essentially the leftover brain of a ship-god.

Not to mention fleets of Ghost ships in other missions.
The amount of things cut from Homeworld was despressing really. T-Mat would have been interesting to face.

good thing you didnt see the sketches of the upgrades and ships for hw1

I've seen a lot of HW2 concepts but not many HW1 ones, care to share user?

Bumping the thread to ask for good space strategy games. I recently got a bit of a craving for good space 4x, but RTS or smaller scale spess game recommendations are welcome as well. I tried Endless Space 2 since it's free on Steam and while I really liked it the fact that you have almost zero control over combat is a pretty big letdown. I had the same problem with GalCiv 2. I do have Sins installed but I'd like something with a wee bit more depth in the empire management side of things.

I'm tempted to try out the new Master of Orion. It's probably shit though. I'd say the graphics are nice but the artstyle kind of makes it all go to waste.

I like the cockpits of the type6/9 to look out of. Puts you right up against the glass and there's space to look below your actual feet at things on the ground beneath your massive fucking ship.
I also like pic related, its the view out of my cobra mk3 with the sick raider ship kit rollcage over the canopy.

I like the open cockpit like the sidewinder, but I still have to buy a big ass ship for space trucking.
For now I made all my money as a space postman, and only killed one pirate in 20 hours. I installed a missile launcher in the adder and tested it on the first idiot who interdicted me.

Don't think about it too much, most of the cockpits appear a lot smaller on the inside then they actually are. The Cobra is the only one where it's size matches the perspective roughly.
The icourier is probably the worst, it's cockpit is massive and the ship overall looks like it was just scaled up. You could fit a 2nd pilot seat in the space after the hud.
Probably why space legs is taking so long, if they're even working on that atm they have to fix their scaling on everything.

Id recommend trying out Sins of a solar empire if you want a game where your own decisions matter more in combat.
Sword of the starts is also a game where you can affect your ships during combat, but in that game combat and strategy map are two different parts of the game while in Sins you do everything on same map, build buildings, build ships, order fleets around and so on.

As for latest master of Orion, let me tell you about it in next post.

Aight, so MoO (4?) plays a bit more like Sword of the stars with it strategy map, tactical map separation.

Combat can be played either in real time or turn based (where it just automatically pauses the game every set amount of seconds, you can also pause it by yourself if you want to.)
In MoO combat you can affect several things, you can choose targets for your ships, order them to move, decide what weapons to use and change around the engagement ranges as well as at what range the ships start fleeing the enemy ships.
Strategy map is flat, while in Sots it is mostly 3 dimensional.
Also, unlike in Sots here all raceshave same FTL system and all use jumplanes or jumpgates in later game, this does make picking colony locations a bit more of a strategic thing than in Sots (unless you play human vs human games there).

Designing ships in MoO is significantly easier in than in Sots.
While in MoO you just pick a ship type and then pick what weapons and or modules to put on it, in Sots you choose what action section the ship has (mid section), what bridge it has (forward section) what sorta engines it has (aft) and then pick and choose guns for slots on each section as well as decide whether you want anti-beam coating and armor or not.
This causes MoO ships to be pretty samey, with bigger ships just having bigger health bars and more guns, while in Sots the ships are more specialized on different tasks, like command ships, repair and recovery craft, fuel ships, planetary bombardement ships, assault shuttle carriers, drone carriers, regular old battleships, cutting beam carrying ship, miner, propaganda blaster, bio warfare ship that shoots plague missiles at a planet and more.

Also the random events in Sots are better than the ones in MoO, whererandom events are either you finding a pirate treasure or a pirate planet with treasure or slaves.
Sots events on the other hand can havefalling rocks, extra dimensional monsters, forgotten ancient super weapons, judicious asshole UFO that wrecks your fleets, locusts, swarm, slavers, a propaganda blaster that makes your planet revolt, AI driven ship that turns your planet into a machine world and takes over your ships computers and much more.

Well just tried Endless Space 2. So far it feels needlessly slow at times but an improvement over the first. Also was the game designed around 1vs1?

would be nice if there were more tactical space team based fps like that star wars commando game, imagine having to kill aliens not so friendly to Terra using top notch tech

The Wild Geese faction in EV: Nova. Good luck being able to select your faction without a guide. Enjoy your 6 different playthroughs. Vellos a shit

Going to add to this that pirates are absolutely fucking retardedly OP. They can and will lock you in your home system spawning waves upon waves of strong fleets every dozen or less turns with no real way to deal with them completely till you reach mid game which means any player that is lucky to not be bottlenecked by pirates is free to pretty much conquer the entire galaxy by turn 60. Not even the AI which cheats like crazy can deal with them and will often be bottlenecked into their home system unable to expand.

Sounds like fun. Will check it out.

What is the source on that?

Anime Source

Project Itoh Genocidal Organ, really got me thinking about space age infiltration tech & soldier indoctrination

Ah, Nova. I remember playing this. I managed to buy a better ship, then I got mindraped by some psychic aliens and became their slave/errand boy or something. What a shit game.

Elite Dangerous is on sale yet again. Is it worth still ignoring?

i think thats all the concept art available, but i think i have some more shit in my external hard drive.
have fun
also note at the interceptor art, the upgrades changed the ship appearance, when i was waiting for HW2 release i was expecting them to implement all that shit into it, boy was i disappointed.

Ah some I knew of but ship upgrades were ones I have never seen. HW2 in general was a shadow of what was envisioned compared to what was released. Hell you were even meant to play as the Vaygr originally not the Hiigarans.

Best not go there, user

That's the only eventful moment I've had so far. and shame on me when I had to resort for that shit, I think I need to put up that colony in Titan soon and make Gene center to create new breed of citizens

what are they going to do? add lootboxes? they wouldnt dare! :^)

There is nothing more infuriating than a UI that directly lies to you.

The mod compensates for cheating AI with so many different units that galactic conquest has unit type filters, orbital defenses out the ass with larger worlds gaining orbital cannons to fuck up any capital ships invading, golans everywhere, automatic reinforcements for defenders and attacking AI. Gravity well generators can stop reinforcements for both sides. The only up to date versions of the mod are on the (((Steam Workshop))) and the mod creator's own website that requires registration and manual activation to access, the version on ModDB is a really old version as it has gotten very big. Recently added two Legacy Era factions.

Sounds like it would be pretty to watch but not fun to play?

Nah it's pretty fun to play, though it does crash from time to time for unknown reasons. All factions have a defiler analog though only the Black Sun has the corruption ability, all these defiler type units have the ability to be useful in space combat and can board/capture ships. Black Sun has all their ships equipped with mass drivers, even the stolen ships from other factions. Galactic Conquest has the ability to upgrade some ships to improved versions, like ISD I to ISD II or ISD II to various other Star Destroyers like a command version of the ISD II or one with a bunch of heavy weapons slapped onto it.

...

Creator is from Spain I think, mod is translated into English, German, and Spanish.

Man, this fucking game is gorgeous.

Gotcha

Oh shit, this cockpit is perfect, simple UI and a massive viewport.
What ship?

whips out ~50gig screenshot folder

T9, although most lakon ships feature a similar dash setup with a large canopy.
and all the ships have the same ui

*blocks your path* Back the fuck off???

nah

So, deserts of kharak finally got pause key.
Opinions on the game?

It's shit.

Its trerrible.

Well shit, the english voice acting is great for change. Thanks for the recommendation.

I don't think it is worth paying for. They put absolutely the minimal effort they could get away with, to the point where the story ended up conflicting with that of Homeworld's.

Proceed

E:D saves screenshots as upped resolution 50mb bitmaps if you hit alt-10 in solo or private mode.
I need more internal storage space

*alt-f10
can be rebinded in the settings somewhere too

It was originally meant to be a f2p MMO

...

...

waiting for the hyperlane patch for Stellaris is a pain, hopefully performance will increase dramatically so you can play with the same empire for 100s of years into the year 3000+ instead of just 200

well, i guess you can finally take nice screenshots out of it

wut game?

dank, Space Engine?

wish it was a game, just a battle scene from that Valerian film that came out not too long ago, humans against some ayyliens

those are some aesthetic pictures, really like the entering port one with a sleek ship

any idea if they are planning on some sequel to homeworld 2? will take a lot of thinking though since they will have to go back into space

Because if the Empire were adequately equipped, there would be no plot armor for the rebels and they would be utterly fucked.

It's actually a screenshot of modded KSP, found it on the forum page for Galileo's Planet Pack. The creator was trying to point out that there were plateus that made it easier to leave a certain planet.
Here are some more by the same guy

Shit guys, what should i get?
Deathwing or Elite dangerous?

those are 2 different types of games, user.

Yes, i am aware of that.
Now which one should i get?

Do you like video games or screen savers?

That's a tough one.
I guess i like games a bit more.

Do you like .jpegs more though user? :^)

I just realized that the Type-9 looks like a beefed up Asp Explorer.

...

KSP is a gorgeous game, shame you need mods to really make it shine though.

what happened to that autists that is making a space simulator all by himself?

I dunno there are a lot of autists doing that
You mean Space Engine?

no, the game is about piloting a spaceship in the most realistic way possible.

Rogue System?

well i be damn, he is still alive

nothke.itch.io/normans-sky

I remember when Star Citizen fags shat all over that game.

Daily reminder that Freelancer was overrated as fuck.

Just bought Rogue System, been looking at it for a long time after that one "Start up sequence" webm. Went on sale yesterday, 10.50 instead of 30 bucks. Still haven't made it through the whole startup myself, much less know what everything does, but i've only got an hour 40 under my belt.

Not going to lie that pod looks comfy.

bullshit, but i believe it.

Saved four in total, take your pick.

whut game?

I don't think they are from a game. In the lower left there is a Neuromancer tag. I did a search and it looks like it may be a book.

...

Your task lays before you.

i dont like the sound of that.

What is with the crabs?

Cmon user, Blender and Unity/UE4 are free.
Go nuts.

First one honestly looks comfiest. The others look dystopian. I wager that's the point though

Seems Sheckel Citizen Alpha 3.0 has dropped for some players for stress testing. Will post webms when I get access and if 1. I can still run it and 2 can record it on top without my gpu catching fire

It's winter, overclock that bitch and set your tower on your porch. What could go wrong?

Ausfag reporting in.

>forgot that I have to collect the datapods with the ship Tyber Zann is currently in
fug

Been playing some Thrawn's Revenge myself, started up a new Campaign.

My only gripe is way too many fighters to micromanage.

It's rather easy. All you gotta do is pause, select fighters, have them attack move in the direction of the station(s).

Can be tricky when your enemy is also deploying hundreds of fighters and it turns into a cluster fuck.

Thrawns Revenge I found that Starfighters were pretty much worthless unless they had ion cannons or proton torpedos and even then it was questionable.

...

Now I know why I tend to quit this game every now and then

Crashing your game, with no progression!

You shut your whore mouth.

Gearbox won't be making anything after Memelands 3 fails

After all that fallout with battleborn I doubt they can afford to. The Homeworld series have never been big money makers after all and the strategy market isn't as big as it used to be.
If they try to make another it will not be until they have secured a ton of cash with another memelands game, and if that fails, the company might go belly up and its IP's sold off to whoever can afford it, like Ubisoft or EA.

Look for a last desperate attempt to keep their company afloat on the Humble SJW Bundle :^)

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Just give it to egosoft, THQNordic, stardock or Cloud Imperium Games

You know Stardock were very close to actually getting the Homeworld IP before Gearbox snatched it?

lynched me a nigger today, boys

Might as well be boats.

Are there any games at all that are similar to Freelancer that aren't fucking shit?

NEW THREAD WHEN

Page 13

That actually doesn't make me so sad. I didn't feel that HW needed a sequel anyways and if Stardock can focus on Sins 2 then they'll get it out that much faster.
pls be making Sins 2

Imagine it user, Sins 2 with proper ground invasions

Imperium Galactica?

Just started playing Avorion and gotta say it's pretty fun. The spacecraft building is simple enough but even I'm starting to get the hang of it. Still pretty early in, but I do like the economy system (simple, but it does get the job done) and the variety of weapons. Anyone else playing it have any gripes or issues with it so I can either avoid/accept them early?

Can you scale the turrets yet? Or is it still covering your whole ship with herpes?

Sorta but not quite as dated. That quarantine mission was BS
