video games

I bet you're not.

This. Doubt most of you know what it is.

Pokken

Is it a video game?

Nothing. There are no video games anymore. I've played them all and I refuse to try the normalshit garbage that gets released every year.

Oh I know this one, it's your favorite game; shit.

Finally got enough time/will to learn X3: Albion Prelude. Wish I had much earlier, while imperfect it has so much of what I'm looking for in a space sim sandbox.

Know now that Rebirth was an abortion and I'm hopeful for Foundations, seems they're going back to what made X games good.

...

No, I'm done.

Maybe.

Jokes on you, my favourite game is New Vegas.

Call of Pripyat
Terraria
RE4
and maybe some other shit, i dunno

That isn't that fucking NTR game is it OP?

The homo event is gone and the GE was needed

Frankly I don't know, but it looks like nobunaga's ambition: fancy modern graphics edition. If that is the case I'd criticise you for being a smug cunt but then I realised you're probably right.

I know that feel. Best options include playing an ironmeme, playing F2P, playing a F2P ironmeme, and crying yourself to sleep.

I don't think it's possible to be any more wrong than this.

I'm playing a ton of DOTA2

Been a while since we had a terrarria thread.

I feel like I've seen this base before.

Paperwork. Fun stuff isn't it.

Probably from a Friday thread. I posted a similar castle I made a while ago which had the same overall architecture.

It's okay, in a dog shit pie with a cherry on-top sort of way

Like it was 9 years ago. But with just a bunch of custom story levels. There is some platforming. Fighting is physics based, feels crunchy on good kills but also kinda spastic. No gibbing though. I guess you can play the story and leave it. Also yiffe.

Xenogears and Super Cloudbuilt.

I would hug you but I don't know how to do it user.

this right now. it's a lot of fun.

Good tastes, user…

vscape is a decent substitute and it stays true to the 06-07 content without any of the osrs garbage updates. That is of course if you don't mind the fairly low population of 30-50 players otherwise its been pretty good to me so far

thanks for reminding me that I need to spend another hundred hours procrastinating on my base

What's with people and retarded aesthetic bases?

We're in the same boat, huh? I can't even work up the urge to emulate something for the PS1.

No, I'm playing video games.

It's fun to find a theme & make a base off of it. Big floating trees & forests is what I wanted to go with because I liked the way that ellinia forest from maplestory looked. Now to change things up, here's my mega commie fortress.

How is this possible?

Oh wait I see what you did. What's the point? 10x3 is god tier.

Eerily close to early bases I posted (lake on left, pit on right).

All I have left is the Moon Lord, and I have to cheese it since my toaster is dying and I suck. I enjoy the building more- almost.

use this pic as a reference, those platforms can be used as pseudo walls & ceilings it's pretty fuckin rad and I always use this style to build a quick commie temp base

But you can't travel through rooms.

Oh I should've explained myself

The whole point of the base was to have an extremely convenient single world to store all items & just have "everything" available to you. The platforms just allow more free movement throughout the base rather than big blocky rooms that you have to walk past or spam discord teleports. It just minimizes the amount of stuff in your way but still keeps villagers in one spot

But you have to tear it down to actually speak with NPCs.

No you just walk under the room or above it and click on the npc. Not sure why you'd want to destroy the housing

Oh that works? Seems too far to me.

They don't invade that often. Still, I tend to do something like in the screenshot. I'll try to find some aesthetic use for the water.

Autism.

Trying to figure out how to entertain myself next

The best game in this thread so far

Good taste, been thinking of trying to double loop that on one credit again.

I'm halfway through Castlevania 3 right now, but I haven't touched it in a few days. Thank God for the password system. I hate to say it, but playing brutal NES games like that for long periods makes me lose my mind a little. Maybe I just need more booze while playing. I also need to decide if I wanna play Resident Evil 1, Super Mario 64 or Luigi's Mansion.

This, almost up to the first boss too

What is this Frankenstein gun? I see Rocket Launcher, Chainsaw, and ROTT Drunk Missile.

This game has made me fall in love with Batman all over again.
I'm not going back to Knight again.

i was working on hollow knight but the backtracking around could get dull pretty quick and i'd go play siege or something

Just finishing up some Raiden V: Director's Cut. Then I'm gonna stare at Etrian Odyssey V for hours until I can figure out a good party to start with

Culdcept

Im currently playing Dragon quest 7 with Mr shekelstein over here.

I tried my best to play 4 but did not find it enjoyable at all, was i playing it wrong or is the game just plain shitty?

Trying to make Gothic 1 work

A Hat in Time, Bayonetta, and Viewtiful Joe 2. I also still want to do a no-damage run of Monsoon on Metal Gear Rising

Ok yeah I get that the Shadow game is "Not good" so to speak. Like I completely get why it's seen as bad.

but I'v always loved this stupid game.

People told me most of Knight's issues were fixed on PC but it still runs like complete ass. They fucking lied. That, and the story feels off for some reason, like it was written by someone who doesn't understand Batman

It depends on what you didn't like about the game. Most people say 4 is one of the easier ones so they're a bit turned off by it, but the fact that they can explore the world map seems to be a positive note saying its one of the more interesting things about it depending on who you hear it from.

That was the only game where the labyrinth wasn't just one gigantic dungeon to explore so it didn't really feel anything like the previous games but if you didn't like the combat then its not too different from V in that aspect.

I'm just about to start one of these three but I've not decided which. I'm leaning heavily towards Builders.

I've been waiting for the next update before I strike up another playthrough.

The game felt a bit too grindy and had horrible pacing for me. It takes ages to level up and the enemies do too much damage even though i had tanks in the front row. I honestly tried to play more and give it a shot and have fun somehow but I seriously could not get into it.

Not to mention the combat looks ugly, music is shit, I never got used to the artstyle and the game does something extremely weird whenever I saved or some shit, I forgot what it was exactly but it creeped me out. Perhaps the game is crap and you like crappy games or im just more of an smt type of guy?

I hope Strange Journey Redux isnt going to be complete shit when it comes out, I dont want to be disappointed even more with modern atlus.

Oh i see, yeah its definitely a grindy game especially when you start getting up there in levels but you can fight shiny enemies and FOEs to get a shitton of exp all at once. It also helps if you make copies of your characters using a qr code and take those copies into battle with the person you want to level up so that only they can get exp since the clones dont.

If you use a tank and have your skills up all the time the damage is severely reduced but only to the row you defend for. You sort of just have to guess who you think is going to be able to survive a blow or not in that game and try to work around it. It also helps if you buy gear pretty much every time its available to reduce the damage or you can just go with classes to help you win battles before they can do anything to you.

Ive honestly had to work at that game before i managed to make a team that worked well enough to take me into end-game and even the final boss. The one thing you have to know is that status effects and binds are definitely helpful especially at higher ranks.

The price is cheaper than the faggots who charge money to translate a fucking chapter on a shitty webnovel site. The good thing about this is that the original engine creator coordinate with the publisher to fit the localization.

Although there's an automated way to translate things as mentioned on this discussion thread:

steamcommunity.com/app/420520/discussions/0/1473096599326742329/

Expect some engrish and limitation of the engine.

Either we wait for a fan translated one like Monster quest/sengoku rance or this. I doubt something like a fan trans will happen since there's already an official release.

Nothing at the moment. Recently finished South Park: The Stick Of Truth, and will soon be getting back to my backlog.

There's like maybe one or two guys that don't like the word.

Really, somebody comes in bitching about Reddit every time anybody uses any word.

Jydge, a game with some cool ass shooting and some incredibly obnoxious gimmick of having most vowels be a y.

Nice try reddit. :^)

What sword is displayed at the left side?

Is it good user? I've seen it on the Switch eShop and it piqued my interest.

It's essentially storymode Neon Chrome. S'cool but still Crimsonlands remains to be their best game.

(heil)
Thanks user. Wasn't a fan of Neon Chrome TBH so I'll give it a miss. Was hoping it was more like Syndicate or something, but I guess hope is the mother of disappointment.

Speaking of Syndicate, is Satellite Reign any good?

I liked it, though I didn't play it that much due to some performance problems. Maybe they've been sorted by now. I'll re-install it and see how I go. Thanks for reminding me user.

Hating every minute of it. I keep hoping I'll find a good game in here somewhere. The concept is good, but the execution is beyond horrible.

Grid based movement with real-time combat and cooldowns is fucking cancer.
WTF was wrong with turn-based battles?

People don't know how to make them fun, so they are often too drawn out, and boring. Grimrock's problem isn't it's grid based system, it's the fact that almost nothing you can use except force field allows to influence the grid movement of you or others. Force field is because of this the most important spell in the game.

TB is basically like kryptonite for casuals

I can't imagine why. It gives you time to think, it can never go to fast for you, and most games that use it are really easy.

it's finally done? Man I remember the alpha been checking in on it once or twice a year since. Going to find out just how much more kung fu it has gotten.

It requires an attention span that is longer than a couple of seconds.

Difficulty in turn based games can be much more than in real time games, because fucking up in turn based games can hurt more.

That's definitely not my experience. Even if it fucks you up more being able to think about what to do next more than makes up for it.

Its probably the way you post you fucking nigger, not the words. Go back to reddit.

It's just more about thinking ahead than having fast reflexes. Think wrong and you might get some pretty serious losses.

yes and i'm doing badly

Curently cracked out on pic related, commander mode. Haunting my dreams. There should be some kind of warning label.

Dark Souls and Original Sin.
I'm planning on torturing myself next month by starting the FF XIII trilogy

I just played the first level of descent. It was ok

You should probably get some friends and a lot of booze for that.

Never understood the hate it got here, first two were up there with GOAT jrpgs and third was kind of shit but challenging and wrapped up the series well. It's the opposite of torture, wish I could play again for first time.

I'm at the third stratum. Game is really fun and a return to form from 2U.

What is this in English?

Yesterday I started the Ringed City dlc and I'm still playing Cuphead.

Also playing some Elite Dangerous when I want to relax

best meme game i finally got to rank 16, the new fresh blood is really nice to suck on

Swapping between these two. Brushing up on my Makoto/Terumi/Ragna/Lambda work and when I need a break exploring The Jail.

Dragon Quest XI and Rabi-Ribi.
DQ XI has shitty writing and seems piss easy. Like the first dozen monsters you fight feel as weak as the regular slimes from other DQ games, and it's super casualized with quest markers and open the menu for a line of dialogue that tells you exactly where to go.

Rabi-Ribi seems kind of fun. Nice fast game play, good exploration with lots of hidden collectables.

...

video games

Several things, I'm afraid I'm overloading my platter though.

Just made it to Inkwell Hell today. Gonna stop here and pick back up on it tomorrow probably. Cala Maria has been the most fun fight in the game so far.
I've already finished the main story and paradise episodes, just grinding out more zeni so I can rank up a few more cards so I'll be ready to take on the Venus Cup, then I'll be done.
One thing that bugs me is that I'm missing a movie and 3 illustrations from the Gallery still.
Have only one level left in Mafia Town to go, but I can't do it yet because I need some sort of "key item"? Either way, I've got access to both Battle of the Birds and Subcon Forest now; have yet to start either of those. Having a ton of fun with this though; loving the soundtrack too.
The GBC original, playing on my Raspberry Pi 3 that's hooked up to my TV. Only just beaten the first stage.
This is one I'm keeping on the back-burner for when I don't feel like playing anything else.
Got it today; haven't even started it yet.
Gonna start this once I finish Cuphead and SK PBS here in a day or two, just in time for Halloween.

Adventures of slutcat in Grindland

Etrian ODC: Lolipomf edition.

Is it the scrub version, Holla Forums?

The rat or is he a mouse? and the actress on the final island are quite fun as well

I only have King Dice and the Devil left. Hope to write the game off my backlog later tonight.
Playing this in place of Vanilla WoW until Elysium gets its shit together. Only a Lvl 19 shitter so far.
My first playthrough of the game and I've been having a good time with it. Wish it wouldn't have split my party up to introduce Jeff, but it does feel a more organic way to add a new party member.
Extraneous purple prose, and WORDS WORDS WORDS. Excluding that I've been having a good time with the tactics of combat, and the game's dreary - often 'alien' world.

If people doesn't even know about Nobunaga's Ambition then it's time to leave Holla Forums for good.

But where?

it's nice. reminds me a bit of hotline miami

Have you tried dungeon crawlers/old RPGs? I really doubt youve played EVERYTHING worth playing…

Grandia.

where the fuck are your wrenches
every character needs at least 2 wrenches or a concussion hammer

why? I didn't unlock the hammers yet

Eroge.

Yeah, those were both pretty great as well. The rat one was pretty easy in comparison to the other Inkwell Isle 3 fights though.

good luck user! King Dice is kind of a doozy so far, I still haven't passed him yet. Hanging on to your health for at least 4 mini-boss fights is pretty tough.

Cooldowns are per-item, not per-item-type. You can take out 5 guards with 2 wrenches before any of them sound the alarm, and once you figure that out you'll never have problems with a ship just because of the number of guards again, even on a completely new character.

1. Swing wrench a.
2. Throw wrench a.
3. Swing wrench b.
4. Throw wrench b.
5. Teleport wrench a to your inventory and throw it again. Has to be wrench a and wrench a has to be thrown early, so it has time to hit the guard.

Concussion hammers are basically wrenches but cooldown 5 times as fast, so they act as an inventory space saver. 1 Concussion hammer does the job of 2 wrenches.

Diablo 2
I always feel like I don't know where I'm going

private server when :^)

...

The GE is the worst thing they have added to OSRS and is the one thing that made me quit and never return.

oh nice. I'll try that

Guess we'll just have to wait for the ladder reset on slash next week, sucks we will NEVER EVER get an 8/v/ server again. Especially not with the numbers we had before.

i've never played Diablo 2 before so I don't know what you're talking about

Just blogging about old memes then ;_;

I rolled START OVER two dozen time, and I felt so defeated I just restarted for each respected time. I only actually died 6 times. Thankfully, I beat the cunt. Smoke Bomb really fucked me over in his third phase so I highly recommend you switch to Coffee unless you can time your parry properly with Smoke Bomb.

I don't play videogames I just spend about 20 hours a day talking about the industry.

Destiny 2

path of the dragon run in meme souls. just finished farming my first 30 scales so i have the full transform.

yeah I noticed that "Start Over" slot. I haven't played today, gonna have to wait until after work before I can settle in on it and try my best. I didn't have any luck earlier. It's become something more of an endurance test for me.

duly noted, thanks for the tip user! I almost always use Coffee anyway. I usually just used Smoke Bomb mostly for the Run N' Gun levels. All the other charms feel kind of worthless imo. What kind of shots do you use? I juggle between Peashooter, Roundabout, and Lobber mostly. Considering giving that auto-aim one a try though for shits n giggles.

Elona and Puyo VS.

Peashooter and Charge, consistent damage and range is very important for all the casino bosses.

The optimal bosses are:

2 (incredibly easy, almost impossible to get hit if you're paying attention),
4 (also incredibly easy, but probably only one or two chances to parry) or 5 (this is where you'll get all of your parries if you're going for A+/S rank)
8 (a boss with very predictable and highly telegraphed attacks)

You'll want Charge. For literally every fight.

Trying out pyromancy in DaS. Just finished up Sen's Funhouse and now I'm in Anal Rodeo.

user, I hate to be the one to do this, but…
>her

Nothing really, i want to play horror games cuz october and shit but i'm too much of a pussy to do it and i hate myself. Also i'm looking for comfy games to stream while being high

Play Rule of Rose. It's somewhat spooky, but also has a really comfy atmosphere because of the old boarding school setting.

Take note that you can knock yourself out if you do a melee attack through a wrench you threw.

I got in really late on the game but I usually have fun and I just unlocked the MKB-42 today but didn't get a chance to use her yet so I'm gonna have to do that tomorrow and I also was playing Kenshi

I don't know how it is on extreme, but if you're on regular, one jump makes the dice go over two numbers.

Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown.

stamen's of fact are not arguments you insufferable faggot.
>>>/reddit/

Ghost Recon Wildlands. I can't help myself. After the disappointment that was MGSV I am thirsty as fuck for an operatan game like it, but finished. This is the closest thing to it.
It's got plenty of shit to complain about and even though I'm not that far in yet, I can tell I've already seen most of the gameplay, but the shooting and getting in and out of bases outside of story missions to grab stuff is 'fun' enough for me to tolerate it.
The world is fucking huge as well, but with all the content being samey and spaced out over that fuckhuge world it's easy to get tired of it. It's pretty though.

In a perfect world this wouldn't be necessary, but this is not a perfect world.

Playing secret of mana, realizing is was rushed and unfinished with a ton of cut content. Almost wish I didn't replay it an let it remain perfect in my nostalgic memories. still comfy

is didn't

haven't played Terraria sense 2014 but played it for a bit today out of the blue, was attacked by Halloween-themed monsters, they also added Gamepad support. I really should play more Terraria.

Replaying DaS2. This time around I'm doing a fist-weapon only build and styling on everything with powerstanced bone fists. The boss in the Ivory King DLC is giving me a lot of shit though, all the knights you fight before him suck when you don't have any attack range.

I just beat Diablo 2 for the first time by myself in..since it's release. it took me a bit to realize that I didn't actually suck, Mephisto just hits like a truck. Diablo and Baal were baby.
MedianXL next, I think, i've seen enough of the vanilla experience over time, but I have no idea what i'm gonna run

It just got used as a buzzword for a while to for people to justify liking boring shit.

I don't see how Snake's Pass could be comfy though. I haven't looked into it much since it's not my kind of game but every video I've seen of it looks like it's fucking aneurysm-inducingly frustrating.

so Charge is a must for the Casino? Hadn't considered giving that a try I admit. Thanks for the tips anons. I'm hoping to beat Cuphead tonight.

so that's how it works? I hadn't noticed, I was just trying to time it and usually not getting what I want to land on

10/10 tastes. A tip for FF2 is to save your good film for the final areas git gud at doing the quick turn move for some bosses where your character does a quick 180.

I should clarify, we don't hate the word, we just hate people who use it wrong

Also I'm playing Dead Cells. God damn. How much are they paying the animators in this game because whatever it is it's not enough. The look and feel of this game is extraordinary. Like seriously just look up any footage of it and look at how fluid those animations are. The gameplay is pretty solid too, and offers good variety and interesting combos. It's the kind of game where you CAN go fast if you want to but you don't have to. Some people have bitched about the timed treasure rooms, but I think they're a great addition to a formula like this; if you just want to speed through the early areas and get to the more difficult stuff quickly, they're a perfect way to keep you from falling too far behind and avoid punishing the player for being fast and skillful.

This might end up being my GOTY, honestly

Dragon's Dogma. A friend of mine did a solo Sorcerer run through Bitterblack Isle when the PC version came out, so I'm trying to imitate that. I managed to get Gazer down with a bunch of Throwblasts but the Dark Bishop is proving much more difficult - in the gear I have available the undead dragon can one-shot me with a claw swipe, and none of my spells do hardly any damage. Fortunately the dragon goes down in a few Throwblasts, but I have yet to try Silencing the Dark Bishop (which apparently works) and then going full Great Maelstrom.

Unfortunately, since I'm trying to do this all before traveling to Gran Soren, I can't just stock up on a shitton of Demon Periapts to double my magic before the fight. I've only got a few saved up from Madeline and Bardoch.

Why not try Holy Focused Bolt?

Just finished a round of AoE2. I'm a huge fucking scrub, so I am playing with moderate difficulty AI. Hard AI stomps me pretty severely. This is on Nomad, by the way.

I recommend against charge tbh. It's super OP right now.

The Bishop has really high magic resistance and is only weak to Dark-powered stuff so I actually need to throw that on my spell list before going down, thanks for reminding me. He's borderline completely immune to HFB, unlike most other things in BBI.

I haven't played the game yet and don't really plan to, but I thought I noticed that too. It seems to do way more damage than you could otherwise output within the charge time.

Yeah, I actually just looked after realizing that a bishop is probably a holy figure, and found the same. But Dark Boon instead, then, but I don't know how the FB works with that, I remember all the elements had different methods of travel. It's been a long while since i've been through BBL.

BBI has the best dungeon design in Dragon's Dogma, delving down in the lower depths really felt like some deep, dangerous, expedition. I really wish the rest of the game had similar designs for it's dungeons.

The problem I have with BBI is that a lot the dungeon rooms are copypasted. There's the 2-floor square layout (Garden of Ignominy, Pilgrim's Gauntlet, etc), the circular tower (Midnight Helix and the like) sewer (Gutter of Misery, Bloodless Stockade), arena (Black Abbey, Rotunda of Dread). There are, of course, a number of unique areas, but those that repeat for some reason really irk me. Maybe because the copypasted rooms are really obvious when they are unique otherwise.

I feel like it works as a whole. Finding obvious duplicate rooms would irk me as well, but the overall feeling of progression through BBI and unique set-pieces in it overshadows the disappointment of seeing repetitive rooms. Maybe I just have a soft spot for the geography of it. The chasm with the tower you descend and fight a minotaur, the various coliseums, the catacombs, the underground city at the bottom, they all work pretty well together.

I might be putting BBI on a pedestal though; Dragon's Dogma has so few/small dungeons that going through BBI feels great by comparison.

Amen to that. I wouldn't want the entire game to be a giant dungeon crawl, but as far as DLC goes it's some of the absolute best out there.

I'm kind of okay with the copy-pasted rooms because I like piecing together what the "whole" version looked like, without any doors sealed off or walls crumbled away. At some point I should actually layer the maps together and create what would be the "universal" map for most of the areas.

My childhood.

...

EO isn't grindy. If you do the quests and don't skip encounters you'll be perfectly on-pace in terms of levels. 4 is the easiest and best place to start, but you need a team that actually has thought put into it [i.e. no more than one "tank"]

They tried to shove too many things into one game. Scarecrows story felt tacked on and his writing was dull even though he was the main villain. There wasn't enough focus on Jason to make me care. The joker blood subplot fell to wayside at the late midpoint of the game and felt completely disconnected from the arkham knight plot. It was pretty obvious they were using the Joker as a crutch because they couldn't make the rest of the ensemble as interesting.

Overall it's just a mishmash of three different stories. Here's what I would have done;

And that's about it. A more complete and organized story than what was written for the game. I really think the Joker killed any chance of the story being good. I'm betting some big exec in a suit said, "Batman without the joker??? Well that's just unacceptable."

Xenoblade, 'cus I never played more than 3 hours when it came out. I must have been insane. The only reason I stopped playing recently is because I had a fever.
Daigyakuten Saiban 2. Shit's crazy good and hardly anyone here will get to play it haha.
Also Breath of the Wild

Animal Crossing New Leaf (need QR codes)
SWAT 4
Cuphead
lots of stuff on 3ds

Wasn't this already a New 52 arc?
except Joker swapped w/Jason

playing shadow of war now
i like it but not enough to shell out money get advertised lootboxes for more money

...

Playing through the first neverwinter nights as a non-magic half orc barbarian (chaotic evil leaning more towards lawful evil/neutral evil as time goes on)

doing this so nwn 2 is that much better when I play it cause it looks that much fucking better, this game is great but there are times where it makes me want to pull my fucking hair out, after I play nwn1/2 gonna play the baldur's gate games then icewind dale/planescape torment and after those it's gonna be the goldbox games and after the fucking GOLDBOX games it's gonna be might and magic series for real this time except I'm skipping 1 doing 2-8 so I'm pretty backlogged up rn

and after all of that THEN I will play Pillars of Eternity THEN I WILL FINALLY PLAY DIVINITY ORIGINAL SIN

and after ALL OF THOSE it's gonna be fucking GRIMOIRE

and in-between all of this I'll be playing muh regular shoot some niggas shit like counter strike and the weekend gamenight shit and in between all of that I'll be shitposting on anonymous imageboards and working when I finally get a job

These.

Same here. Honestly the only real problem I had with the first was them still throwing you tutorials 20 hours into it. I thought the sequels were great as well.

Well, I beat Cuphead AND finished the Venus Cup in Senran Kagura PBS. So I'm pretty much done with them both and I can move on down with my list
I would actually kill to play more SK PBS but the online is pretty much dead, which pisses me off because it's so damn fun.
I'm still bothered that I have one locked video in the gallery for PBS though. I don't know what it could be though, since I've cleared the main story, all the Paradise Episodes, and now all the V-Road Cups. I'm at a loss.

I'm probably gonna start either WftO or Fatal Frame 2 tomorrow night after work.

yeah, i was surprised how quickly i was able to defeat The Devil with it. It's definitely OP. The Devil's fight was pretty fun still though.

Been fighting resonance ai and getting my ass beat so I know the pain. Getting better very slowly though. Gotta keep at it.

Hard mode is just right.

Boring games. Too easily broken with delay on all modes. Can't skip cutscenes, only fast forward. All the waifu bait in each entry is blue balls to help boost sales of the next entry where "they totally won't blueball us this time guize!". Sidequests are by the numbers mundane crap in both story and gameplay that may be relevant later on for:
Doesn't make it fun. Quality over quantity. I don't care if your game has twice as much text or twenty times as much text as the average JRPG. It doesn't matter when most of it is filler to grind up playtime to build a sunk costs fallacy emotional attachment and say "it's totally 80 hours worth of content!". Some of the things in the main story are interesting, but they're buried under piles of dull.
Hell no.

If I had to make an analogy to anime, I'd say they're like Naruto or Bleach. Very long and thus complex plots full of tons of characters and seem to go on almost without end, but only a few particular bits are actually interesting.

>You will never marry Aurelia

I haven't read any of the new 52 so maybe

Started War for the Overworld last night, not really sure what to think. I did the tutorial and first WFTO Campaign map. It's not BAD, but I'm not really getting any gratification from it like I do most other games. I've already gotten 50 minutes in, so I've only got about another hour's worth of play before I can refund it. I'm gonna try playing the second campaign mission tonight and will just decide from there.

Playing more A Hat in Time as well, still having a blast with it. It's cute, I love the Subcon Forest chapter especially. Haven't finished it or Battle of the Birds yet though; about halfway through both.

Boktai. An user recommended it to me a while ago.
It's not exactly what I expected, but it's still really fucking good. The sprite art is gorgeous (I'm still baffled as to how they made it look so good), the gameplay is solid and has a lot of variation and the soundtrack is ballin'.

If by any chance that user reads this post, thank you a ton. I probably would've never gotten around to playing this.

Playing Brigador and Crimsonland,Not sure what im going to play for halloween this month

Im trying out this game called Life, there is a lot of grind but its not as hardcore as you faggots make it sound

Fallout 4. They released Haven Trooper armor and after being blue balled by New Vegas, I had to try.

I'll be playing Witcher 3 until my HOTAS comes in for Elite: Dangerous because I obviously have no fucking clue how a keyboard and mouse work.

Disgusting. Uninstall that shit.

Well, that was probably the easiest main campaign of any of Zachtronics' major releases. Most games up until this point took me 2-3 weeks to complete, I have Opus Magnum wrapped up in less than three days. Seems like the actually challenging puzzles are hiding in the Journal of Alchemical Engineering, so that people who aren't very good at these games or don't want to put in time to get better can still feel some accomplishment for "beating" the main campaign.

Custom servers in Killing Floor that have new classes and all sorts of other sweet shit
KillingFloor://74.91.125.59:7707
It takes 5 billions years to download and requires forums.tripwireinteractive.com/forum/killing-floor/killing-floor-modifications/general-modding-discussion-aa/52412-mutator-specimen-kill-messages to be added to your \KillingFloor folder but it's actually fun, the heavy weapons class is OP

Consider playing Lunar Knights next, it's a little different though still quite fun

Trying to get back into Dark Cloud, it's a fun game but College is taking up all my time on a full schedule, so I've been stuck playing garbage games because I forget about it.

Also need to get back into Splatoon 2 and maybe grab Vanquish now that it's got a PC release and I'm a sucker for Platinum.

Any PS2 suggestions of things to emulate? I'm thinking of grabbing Okage just because I was in the final dungeon when my console decided to die way back in the day, and kind of wanted to see how it ended. But I'm up for grabbing just about anything really.

Currently X2

I'll play the games in order, but I'll take a look at it.

The boss for Subcon Forest is pretty damn fun. A Hat in Time has had pretty fun bosses in general so far, and the boss tracks are excellent too. Example: youtube.com/watch?v=udCN6tFWxQs

Couldn't get into WFTO. It wasn't a very gratifying game and my 2 hours was nearly up, so I refunded. That said, I got $20 on Steam now, what should I get?

what is this, some sort of alchemical engineering puzzle game? Looks kinda neat.

The Fatal Frame trilogy
Disgaea Hour of Darkness
Ace Combat Shattered Skies
GunGrave
Final Fantasy XII
Shadow of the Colossus
Soul Calibur 2
GrimGrimoire
God Hand
Okami
SMT Devil Summoner 1 & 2

Yeah, it's from the same developers that made SpaceChem. It's based on an old game of theirs called The Codex of Alchemical Engineering. It's good, just a little too easy for my taste. I don't know if it's cracked yet, there's going to be a DRM-free version eventually.

Dwarf Fort. I really need to save more.

FFXIV
New Vegas
Ninja Storm series

Thanks for the suggestions, user. I already had Soul Cal 2 on the gamecube so I might skip that one, but I'm probably going to pick up quite a few of these on this list, since like I said, I'm up for pretty much anything, especially God Hand, Okami, SoTC, and Ace Combat.

As for your $20 bucks on Steam, if you haven't picked it up yet Not sure if you could find an emulation for it but Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale is incredibly fun. The controls are simplistic enough when you go dungeon crawling, but if you have even an inkling of merchant in you, you are going to have fun selling just about everything. There's also more to do after the main part of the story, along with a sort of time attack mode and infinite mode, so that's what I would go with. That or Bastion, but these are only if you don't mind an isometric viewpoint when you play your videogames.

> I really need to save more.
I know what you mean, I've had some decent runs before the bigger updates these past few years in adventure mode, but I've also ended up getting a Berserk tier Eclipse event from running into the wrong demon den, except there weren't any survivors.

Jesus fucking Christ.

Opus Magnum.
It has a feature where you can record a gif of your thing.

FFXIV
Cuphead
Just beat Divinity: Original Sin 2 today

Might grab Toukiden 2 to try it out since I kind of liked the first one or I'll start up X-COM: Apocalypse and try to figure out what the hell I'm doing.

Am i retarded? Where the fuck do you make an account for this? There's nothing on the site and I can't find a link on the wiki.

You may have over-complicated that one just a tiny bit, my dude

I'm getting better.

Finally got my Time-Stop hat made, I'm gonna wrap up the last Mafia town level, get the other Time Piece(s) i'm missing from Subcon Forest, then do the rest of Alpine Skyline, then I'll finally let myself go to the final Act.

I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for when that does finally get cracked.

oh, thanks user!

that's a pretty fun one, i've played it to death though. That is a great suggestion regardless.
Also played this one, fantastic soundtrack, found up dropping it for other games later on though.

it's pretty different from previous Toukiden titles user. It's the best one yet though (I didn't much care for Age of Demons or Kiwami)
Toukiden 2 is a pretty great game to play, no idea on what the multiplayer scene is like now though I played it on PS4 though

holy fuck

zachtronics.com/the-codex-of-alchemical-engineering/

that was made by zachtronics

Step up user

shit, i meant that as a question.

I don't know why but I really struggle to do anything that involves rotating the parts.

Well, it's pretty easy to accidentally make parts collide that way.

Yeah, it's the new one. Haven't played the Codex myself but from what I've seen of it OM is almost mechanically identical

Finally giving the DMC games a go and a friend told me to start with 4 since Nero is easy to learn. Just finished his campaign and I like Dante a lot more, the greater variety of attacks and not having to perfectly time the heat gauge make him a lot more enjoyable.

Should I go 1 then 3 next?

...

Glad you are joined the club of Smokin Slick Stylers user.

As for if you want to play 1 or 3,
1 is still a great game but this was before styles were introduced. Dante still plays relatively that same only it's as if you can't use the style button. but to make up for this his move list for Devil trigger is the best in the Series IMO.

3 is a prequel to 1 and Dante's gameplay is relatively the equal to that of DMC4, only he can't switch styles on the fly like he can in DMC4 that is unless you get the style switcher mod for the PC version.
although getting a Controller to work properly for PC can be a pain in the ass.

You can play them in either order as long as you play both beacuse the series is better when you know the full story IMO. I started with DMC4 like you and i'm glad I played DMC1 next. but I enjoy both DMC1 and 3 so much that I played them a ton of times so it shouldn't matter too much.

Yep, absolutely. Play DMC1 until you're good enough to beat it on DMD and then move on to 3.

Did you never try SpaceChem? They're just engineering-based puzzle games, you should check them out.

getting into Median XL, I don't think I was prepared for just how drastic of a change it was from vanilla diablo

im playi WAKE ME UP
(I CANT WAKE UP)
WAKE ME UP INSIIIIIDE
SAVE MEEEEEEEEE

Filename of course

...

I'm totally burnt out on vidya. I've just been playing CS Surf with the voice disabled and listening to other shit because it keeps me occupied.

You little nigger

I used to play education games, then I turned 7. Pffpttpftpfpfpfftf

I'm seeing games left and right aaaall over the damn place - and Ive been out of the gaming loop now for like 6 years - so I'm a bit lost. I quit by the time I got a girlfriend, smoked weed with new people, and then lost all family financial backing and support. But now things are better and I've missed the birth of Twitch, Discord, and the rise of Stream's commercial popularity.
Should I bother buying an Xbox One or a PS4? Should I consider getting into computer gaming? How does the future look for both? I'm sorry for this shitpost, but there isn't a QTDDTOT and if I tried starting a thread it wouldn't take off because it wouldn't be made by mods.

Resident Evil 4.

Currently looking for texture mods for the game. I found one, but it only seems to cover 2/3 of the game so far, which is odd. I figured with the game being out for some long a texture mod would have been done by now.

Most of the mods you find are huemonkey donut steel type shit, its laughably bad. In fact, huemonkeys seem oddly fixated on this game, tons of spic shit all over the play on yt and else where when you search "Resident Evil 4 mods"

Needed a new timedump.

I lost a year and a half of my life to that black hole of a game. 6/10 would def do again

I used to smoke weed, then I turned 17
Obviously not, just get a mid-end PC and you'll have worthwhile things to play for years.

That's a nice idea, it's been a long time since I played RE4. I know they've been working on that HD texture pack for a long time but it still isn't complete. It's really accurate to the original textures, though.

PS4/X1 is worth it if you have a group of friends with it who play regularly, and you're ok with playing normalfag games. If that doesn't apply to you, don't pick them up until the PS5/Xsomething comes out. They have some ok exclusives, and some games ported to PC have shit ports.
A decent midrange PC should be able to play anything. A semi-decent processor and an RX 480/GTX1070 should work just fine for most games. You don't need to pour money into a gaming PC to have fun.
On the Nintendo side they made a gaming tablet for couch coop on the go. It fits a tiny niche, but it's getting games. Give it a year and you might end up liking it.

I'm 90% sure XBone and PS4 will reach end-of-life by 2020, so you might want to hold off. The Switch just released and is doing much better than the Wii U in every possible way, so you might want to look into that.
I'm a PC gamer myself, so I'm biased, but I recommend you start with PC gaming. Even if you don't have a great computer, the last 6 years have seen a revival in high-quality 2D games (e.g. Cuphead, Enter The Gungeon, Hyper Light Drifter, Invisible Inc, Don't Starve) that you can play on just about any toaster.

How easy it to meet new friends online within the PC gaming universe?
And if I want, do you suggest ROM's and emulators, or should I invest in the old, actual systems?

Get into computer gaming but don't play the popular meme games like Player Unknown's Battlegrounds or League of Legends, instead emulate games from older consoles, play older PC games, and play the occasional good indie/AA game which are most of what you see in this thread.

As for what kind of computer you'll need, if you just want to play old games then it doesn't really matter, but if you must play recent AA games or emulate semi-recent console games get something around a GTX 1050 ti but a good CPU (for the sake of emulation). Swap out the 1050 ti for something similar every couple years, it's more cost efficient than getting the fanciest card and upgrading in 5 years.

Well it does take place in Spain

Would it be better to just emulate the PS3 version of DMC3 rather than get the PC version to work?

they aren't hard to find or make but good ones are rare as they are irl
online "friends" are the only ones ive had for the past few years

What? If you're going to emulate anything you emulate the PS2 version, and the PC version isn't that much of a pain to get working.

I meant PS2, but if the PC version isn't too borked I'll just do that then.

If you use Steam you can find friends through matchmaking on most multiplayer games that aren't dead and buried, though as said good friends are still hard to find, and you'll still need to put effort into relationships and shit.
Ecosystems of note outside of Steam are Battle.net/Blizzard Online, Origin, League of Legends which I recommend you avoid, and standalone MMO launchers like Dauntless and Fortnite. Get a Steam, and get a Battle.net if you're into Hearthstone or Overwatch. Don't worry about the others unless they have a game you like.
You should definitely try out different emulators and ROMs to see what your machine can handle. If you can't get it working, then buy the system (or upgrade your PC if it's less expensive).

I am playing…

THE WORK OF ONE WHO CONSORTS WITH BEASTS

And it is surprisingly enjoyable.

Use the style switcher mod
That thing makes the game run perfectly and you get a sweet mod on top of it

Warframe (help me!)
Demon Gaze
Legend of Mana
Brave Fencer Musashi
But I'm trying to find something that both lets me play a customizable loli and be magical.

I beat Ys 8 and now I'm burnt out on video games.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl

Just opened up the path to Prypiat, I'm going to get better gear first though.

Just finished Dishonored on High and Low Chaos, considering going into Trials/Knife/Brigmore later in the week.
Finishing my Valkyria Chronicles themed run of Xcom 2, haven't decided on what theme to go with next.
Considering actually playing Bioshock to try and justify the $5 I spent on it years ago.
Might actually go back to Valkyria Chronicles to get the last 2 achievements I need for 100%

starcraft broodwar -UMS-
counterstrike:source -Surf/Zombie-
WC3:TFT -Custom-

im really fucking spooped

I met my friend and his community of friends on a trade server in TF2 over 5 years ago. You'll find friends in the most unlikely of places. Just be pleasant to talk to and you won't have any problems.
As for roms, it depends on the system. Invest in an original Xbox and a few other systems that are hard to emulate, but emulation works fine for everything else.

The sooner you quit the more free time you have for other things.

Well there goes my productivity.

Snake Pass is really nice. It definitely interests me way more than Yooka-Laylee or A Hat in Time, I don't know why it took me so long to check it out

Well, I thought the same thing, but I had every puzzle completed by Saturday, even the bonus ones. Maybe I should just go back and optimize more.

I'm playing the game of waiting for Mario Odyssey to come out. It's a very boring game that consists of going through my backlog and starting something and then turning it off five minutes later, before inevitably opening my laptop to do some writing and then closing it again five minutes later.
Also I think my depression is acting up atm. Might go neck myself. BRB.

Close your browser and go play a Mario game. Promise yourself you won't open it for the rest of the day. The Internet is a massive timesink, and once you remove it you'll start having fun again. Last time I did it I binged Xenoblade X for a week straight and had a blast.

Morrowind. Just got corprus.

steamcommunity.com/groups/vscape

Finished A Hat in Time! I had a ton of fun with this one. If you anons had/have any love for Banjo-Kazooie or Super Mario 64, then you should at least pick it up on sale or something. It's pretty damned fun.
I put about 13 hours into it, taking my sweet time collecting all 40 Time Pieces. I still have 8 achievements left to snag, but I may just let those sleeping dogs lie.
Also worth mentioning again that the soundtrack is pretty fantastic.

Now that I've finished A Hat In Time, Cuphead, and Senran Kagura PBS, I can start Fatal Frame 2 on Wednesday night. I haven't had this much enjoyment out of videogames in a while now.
I don't usually beat the games I play; more times than not, I wind up dropping them and moving on to some other game. So beating 3 games back-to-back-to-back feels pretty damned nice.
