I 100% completed it(which was pretty quick and easy to do). It's a real mixed bag of quality. The boss battles and Mario Sunshine secret levels are great but a lot of the other levels are terrible. Aside from some of the platforming in the windmill section, the entirety of the Alpine Skyline world is complete trash.

The ability system being tied to hats and badges is also really, really dumb. Especially since the hookshot and no-bonk badges are basically mandatory at all times. The Dweller Mask also kind of becomes the default hat too because the rest of the hats are gimmicky and have very limited uses. So it just becomes an annoying chore to switch between them when those situations pop up. All of this stuff should have been separated from the cosmetics and condensed into a few permanent upgrades.

I'd give the game a 6/10. It feels rushed and incomplete but I really did have fun with the bosses and some of the levels.

Someon is going to have to fix it with the mod support.

I agree at least with the hookshot. It definatly needs to be off the badges and just an ability. I'm ok with the badge system, but i wouldn't miss it if it were gone.
I say the game should be fully judged after the Mod/co-op/new levels come out. Right now, its a really short, but enjoyable experience. If the DLC later is good, I think the game will have much much more value. I don't like short games either.

I agree with the badges part, especially the hookshot badge, but there was button to quick swap hats without pausing, so that wasn't a problem at all.
It definitely feels very unfinished for something that's been worked on for so long. They made sure every single mission had their own loading screen and there's a ton of tiny little details in the walls in mafia town and the bird world but they couldn't figure out how to make the mountain stage not boring and the forest stage have more distinct areas? Wrong priorities there.

Had a lot of fun with the game. I like the art design and the verticality of the levels, playing through Mafia Town evoked my lost childlike glee. I haven't played a solid 3d platformer in a long time. I really liked Subcon Forest, Snatcher had a great voice actor and the manor and well were good levels. Dead Bird Studios was give or take, I liked how Owl Express took queues from Milkman Conspiracy and the exploding train level was fun, I didn't care for the disco nigger levels.
The Alpine Skyline had such a promising start, hooking onto the zipline and you just keep going up was great, I wasn't expecting it. Then it feels like they ran out of ideas. The game stops evolving, the levels take forever, it feels like you're just going from point A to B with no real challenge. Thinking back on it there were really no enemies that proved a challenge in the game other than bossfights. The only enemies that felt a little tough to fight were Mafia and you have to go out of your way to instigate a fight with any of them if you want a battle. Final world and boss battle were fun. Boss was easy but I enjoyed the idea of all of your enemies up until that point deciding to support you turning you into the bad guy of the story just because Mustache Girl is a self righteous cunt. I mean you side with a violent mafia organization, a hack fraud, a demon, and some ill tempered goats.
6.5/10, hoping it'll be better with the expansions and I still need to finish the time rifts.

I wouldn't say the movement is "tight", like you move, you move but it's didn't have the needed stiffness that mario 64 or sunshine had. It's better than sunshine because it only has a few bad levels where sunshine is almost all bad
The voice acting is only really bad for mustache girl, i enjoyed the conductor, hat girl herself, multiple owls, jontron and the evil ghost. My biggest gripe is the downfall and the rock bottom of a shitshow chapter 4.

I was really surprised to see that the game was so fuckin' short. It's actually quite confusing, and they had a bunch of scrapped characters they could've used to extend it. Sure they put out plans to add another level or so, but like, that's much later than now.

But that's inherently wrong, the one thing that makes Sunshine worse than 64 is the fact that the shines can almost never be gotten out of order. Each shine opens a mission-based version of the world and blue coins are used to pretend you have more freedom than what was actually granted. Sunshine's worlds themselves are fucking awesome and the movement is tighter than even Mario 64's, yet you're forced onto self-imposed obstacle courses. I'm very fearful Mario Odyssey is going to be an even worse iteration of controls getting incredibly awesome and the base game being just linear forced obstacle courses.

Despite normally condemning assholes who steal assets (being a drawfag), I don't give a shit in this case. The guy made a solid controlling platformer with the stolen assets. TL;DR A Hat in Time does not have stolen assets to the best of anyone's knowledge, but the lead guy on the game was involved in some retarded drama over TF2 custom servers.

If you've watched any Odyssey footage at all, it's pretty clear the levels are open and you can go for whatever moons you want in whatever order. There's one for the boss but a bunch of side ones too, and getting one doesn't dump you back in the hub world.

My problem with it is that it's faux open world. As in, it's like there's a main hub region and then getting into another one means committing to just going for a sub-region that acts like an obstacle course, like those skyscrapers mini levels in New Donk City. While in Mario 64 and Sunshine exploration was mostly vertical, this looks like more horizontal.

This shit is enough of a reason not to buy it anyway.

Call the places you apply to back within the next week. Even if they say they'll contact you first, you should poke them. It will show you are persistence and serious about the position. At the very least, it will make sure your name comes up more often than all the other people who don't call and perhaps help your chances of standing out. But also don't just wait around for a couple places to get back to you. Keep applying to different places and keep the cycle going. Even if you get an offer, you should still apply to places if you think you can get a better position. Sometimes the fact that you already have open offers can be used in an interview as leverage. Employers are kind of like women and if you flaunt the fact that OTHER employers want you, you can kinda make that employer a bit jealous and think of you in a higher regard as a limited commodity.

I'd imagine they simply didn't have enough time to finish Mafia Town stuff and people had waited long enough for the game to release already, but the Manor really doesn't have that excuse. The upper floors must have been cut due to complaints about the timing-based puzzle being too hard? You'd think they would just make it easier instead of making the entire floor disappear.

oh shit, I didn't even know that, I just figured The Conductor won no matter what since he seemed more the type to cheat even if Grooves had more points
thematically, even with the disco ball and parade guys at the end I think the boss fight fits the conductor more, and grooves always came off as the nicer guy of the two, but its still pretty neat that you can have a minor change like that in a playthrough

The Conductor is better. I think it makes more sense for the Conductor to be an asshole

the boss fights are clearly reskins, you can tell while fighting the conductor your shadow is on top of him a lot higher than it should be.

I haven't played Undertale, but I'm going to go out on a limb here and say they didn't invent the "characters from the game help beat the final boss" trope. As for Mustache Girl, she starts the game as looking like Chaotic Good but ends up being Lawful Evil. You can't go around altering the fabric of space and time to suit your will while executing people in your kangaroo court without earning that "evil" side of the label.
