SNES/Genesis version is good. sands of time is fantastic. the rest range from mediocre to terrible (especially bad is Warrior Within, avoid at all costs). the movie is sub-par but is watchable if you have a high tolerance for movies that are dumbed down to appeal to retards.

real talk here though, if you want the best prince of persia game ever made, get blackthorne

Well, I came in here to say stay away from everything but Sands of Time, but dubs don't lie.

The movie is -okay- which is saying a lot for a film based on a video game. But it is still a very much watered/dumbed down version of the plot.

Looks cool, I'll download that too. Also, it's nice to hear that about the movie. I have friends who really enjoy it but the vidya movie title made me nervous.

Warrior Within is the best of them, and has the best themes in the entire trilogy, especially the "what does it take to change one's destiny" and "the futility of trying to change one's destiny", yes they are contradictory but still manage to work together.
As for OP, play Sands of Time, Warrior Within and Two Thrones(in this order as they tell a full story with all sorts of twists and turns) and only play Forgotten Sands if you are desperate for more modern PoP.

Prince of Persia (1989)
Prince of Persia: the Shadow and Flame
-
PoP: Sands of Time
PoP: Warrior Within - Underrated, I love it just as much as SoT but I get why people don't. Give it a chance. It has the same composer so while it is heavier it sounds middle easterny.
PoP: the Two Thrones - just to give it closure, it's kind of lame though

The rest are boring or bad. Some anons like the 2008 version but I think it's boring.

Sands of Time is the best one, if we're talking post-reboot. Warrior Within threw away all the good parts of SoT and replaced them with awful tryhard edginess. It got "better" combat, though it also suffers from tying to just be more than SoT instead of better. There are a million combos with a ton of overlap, which is just pointless. Two Thrones is sort of the middle ground, but still pretty edgy even if not as much as WW.

Everywhere I saw people praising SoT for feeling like a magical fairy tale, yet they went and pissed all that away for muh edgy for the sequel. What a bunch of idiots.

The movie was surprisingly decent, and I think I played the SNES version the most.

Play, except for PoP3D
Give them a try. You might love or hate them.
nah
Subpar, but the chick was cute.

They're all terrible and if you don't have nostalgia for them should not be played.

THEY ARE ALL SHIT TBH

Are you going to explain why they are shit or not?

Since you obviously wouldn't give a shit about the old series, here's the best 3D POPs:

- Sands of Time
- Forgotten Sands Wii exclusive

Is this a fucking bait?

Play Another World and Flashback. Sands of Time is good and captures the Arabian Fairytale feel perfectly, Warrior Within is also good, though it's basically Shadow the Hedgehog and Two Thrones is, thematically speaking, in the middle. They all play well.

I quite liked the 2008 cel shaded one. its not horrible, but alright

what's not to like

...

I forgot that piece of shit even existed. Gyppo Prince and Keira Knightley and their platoforming adventures was boring as shit.

With the exception of maybe Prince of Persia 3D all of them had either good graphics for their time or at least decent. The first one, using rotoscoping had great animations for the characters, and even PoP 2008 which is considered to be one of the worst games in the series, had gorgeous aesthetics and graphics.
Sure, the DOS games might be a bit clunky nowadays, especially with how easy is to run in a trap, instead of sneaking, but to say that any game after and including Sands of Time had terrible controls is bullshit.

It is impossible to die in that game. There is no failure state, not matter how bad you are. The pinnacle of casual gaming. I'm glad they never bothered to make another one like the ending implies they would.

I didn't see Prince 2 on your list…

Actually they did it's a Nintendo DS Exclusive. They also released a console-exclusive Epilogue for the first game in the form of DLC that had another cliff-hanger ending.

Apparently they decided to port Warrior Within on Ipad, but not Sands of Time, honestly I am baffled by this decision, of not porting the entire trilogy, not that I would actually want or play such a port, but still baffling.

...

Sands of Time was amazing and Warrior Within was an amazing follow up.

I kinda agree with you about Warrior Within not being that bad
But a amazing follow up? nah.
I remember laughing a lot when the Prince screams while attacking a wall

...

>the wraith mask that spices things up
>I am the architect of my own destruction
Besides all these things, you are right there's nothing special with the game.

I can't deny that the combat was fun tho.
The game also had some cool weapon designs.

Sand of Time is great.

just finished the movie. It wasn't to bad. It was bascially Prince of Egypt meets the Mummy with bits and pieces to remind you it's a Prince of Persia movie.

What's wrong with the movie? All in all, pretty comfy.

I watched it years ago and it wasn't terrible, but nothing really stood out either. Which, honestly, for a vidya movie is the best you can hope for.
Can't you at least post some new thick arab ass, dude? It's always the same couple of pics that get posted.

I keep hearing some of the PoP games for the Wii were drastically different. Care to explain what was different from the Forgotten Sands on other platforms?

...

No. The combat was nowhere near as good, nor were the visuals. They did get rid of the bats that attacked you while climbing though so it's not all bad.

The fact that you didn't have to finish every enemy with the dagger of time like in Sands of Time was a plus. Furthermore the dual weapon combat system with throwing the secondary weapon and stealing the weapon from an enemy was great, the fact that you could throw enemies off cliffs or into other enemies was also a neat addition. So yeah, I stand by what I said, the combat is an improvement from that of Sands of Time.
muh arabian nights visuals is the major thing people bash the sequel for, and they make it sound like the fact that it doesn't have the same atmosphere as the first one, makes the sequel one of the worst games ever conceived. Ok, I get it, the sequel was darker, edgier and had a different aesthetic from the first, but it had better combat, the graphics got an improvement in texture quality and animations, the bosses were better, there were no more escort missions(half of Sands of Time in an escort mission and Fara is very vulnerable), the Dahaka chases were intense, the wraith mask spiced things up, it had an overall better story with all sorts of plot twists and it did a time travel story quite well, and the themes that were presented in the story such as "what must one do in order to change his destiny" and "the futility of trying to change one's destiny" were great, and you don't find them in many games. And instead of discussing any of these, people still complain that the Prince was too edgy, instead of the young and naive prince from the first game or that the castle was too dark and mechanical, instead of the whimsical magical palace from SoT. Now you will say that the music wasn't as good, even though it was made by the same composer, and it meant to reflect the mental state of the Prince who was being chased by an unstoppable beast, and the deadly castle where the Sands of Time were conceived.

you don't understand. warrior within had way better combat, yes, that's a fact. but sands of time was a better game because it wasn't ABOUT combat. the levels themselves were the boss fights and the combat was a break in between. the reason i hate WW so much is because it said "hey prince of persia fans, did you like sands of time? well fuck you, we're going to listen to the people who played it for the combat instead of the people who enjoyed sands of time. PS i hope you like early 00s fag-metal"
